《The Reject (COMPLETED)》Chapter 39: Meeting The Goddess.

Willow sat in front of her father, on a circular golden table. Lark sat at the side, looking like a five year old who was scolded for eating too much candies. But she ignored him, since she was mad at him. From what she heard through her father was that he had sent Lark over to protect her and Lark had slaved her away even after receiving the payment.

Willow sipped on the tea which was presented in front of her and stared at her father, not knowing what to say. "What's happening? I'm very happy to see you living and young but this is confusing me too much."

Axel nodded and was silent for a while. "You see, last year, I didn't really die."

Willow could see that and it made her sad, wondering why her father would leave her and her mother.

"I was supposed to live on the Earth for ten years, but then I fell in love with Venice and we had you on the fifth year."

"What do you mean by Earth? Are we not on earth right now?"

"We are currently on the Mainland, it's in between." Axel shrugged. "The kingdom of the Goddess."

"Goddess?" Willow's eyes widened.

Axel nodded but didn't contribute on the topic. "When the time came, I couldn't leave Venice and you were just five, that wouldn't be fair for her, so I ignored the call back and stayed.

"But a year back, I found out that you were going to die, I knew I won't be able to live if—" Axel broke down as if he couldn't bring himself to continue. He rubbed his face and that is when Willow noticed that even though her father looked like he just hit twenty, his eyes said otherwise, it seemed as if he was hundreds of years old, all the tension, the pain, he seemed too vulnerable at this point.

Willow got off her seat and walked over to Axel. She hugged him around the shoulders. "Dad, it's okay, you don't have to tell me."

Before Axel could say anything, Willow heard a knock on the door, making her step back.

"Enter." Axel cleared his throat.

The door opened a moment later and in stepped a beautiful brunette, who was wearing white clothes just like everyone else. She held a try in her hands, on which was a neatly folded white dress. "The Goddess has sent me to escort the Young master's daughter."

"I should have known." Muttered Axel.

Willow's eyes widened. "The goddess?" Axel did previously mention about a goddess.

"Oh my!" Said Lark, looking at his bare wrist. "Look at the time, it's time for me to leave!"

"On no, young man." Said Axel, making Willow feel weird because technically Axel himself was a young man, physically at least. "You and I, we need to have a talk. Seems like I have to teach you some things."

"No you don't." Said Lark. "I mean I don't want to waste your precious time."

"Um dad?" Willow called. "Who is this goddess? Why would she even want to meet this insignificant lowly being?"

Axel sighed when he looked at Willow.

Lark replied instead. "That's your grandma."

"Holy sh—" Willow was horrified, but then she wondered if Lark was kidding. "You almost got me there." Willow chuckled.

Lark scrunched his nose as he stared at her.

"You aren't kidding?" Willow asked as her grin dropped.

Lark silently shook his head. "Faeries can't lie."

"But you can!" That is what Lark had asked of from her father, the ability to lie for him to protect Willow. She must say, it was pretty smart of him.

Lark look at his wrist, on the nonexistent watch wrapped around his hand. Willow guessed that it must be after watching all those movies. "I'll be taking my leave."

Axel clamped his hand on Larks shoulder. "Hold on."

"Yessir." Lark marched to the side of the room automatically, as if being controlled. Then he glared at Axel.

The messenger who had been quiet all this time, placed the tray on the table. "The Goddess has sent this dress for the lass, and is expecting you to not make her wait for long." The messenger bowed her head and retreated. "I'll be waiting outside."

"Dad what's going on?"

Now that Willow thought about it, it did make sense, since she had never met her paternal grandmother nor any of her father's relatives, but she had never wondered about it before.

"Don't be nervous, she won't eat you, that's for sure." Axel joked.

"I'm not." Said Willow, and she really wasn't nervous, after all this was her grandmother, maybe she was a tiny bit nervous about being accepted by her grandmother who was also a goddess. Aren't goddesses supposed to be in a state of peace, joy and happiness? So she was kind of looking forward to meeting her grandmother.

But boy was she wrong.

Willow put on the dress, it was too pretty and Willow wanted to gush on the dress but she felt too nervous to. The dress was white and off shouldered, it was a high low with stones studded into the bodice of the dress. There was also a single silver anklet with a tiny crescent moon hanging on it and black lace gloves, Willow must say that the goddess had the best taste in fashion.

Willow followed her father who lead the way over to the garden, where the goddess was supposed to be in.

The moon goddess is what her father called her. She was the one had given life to the werewolves and vampires, faeries and witches and is the one who chooses a person's mate.

Willow listened to her father's explanation. And in no time she stood outside in a wide garden, it held flowers from daisies to peonies all in the shade of white. In that wide garden, sat a mystical being on a circular golden table, sipping from a white teacup. Willow was awestruck as she stared at the woman before her, who looked straight out of a painting, with the giant moon behind her and stars glinting on the dark sky.

The woman, had her snow white hair down with a silver diadem around her forehead, her light brown skin contrasting with her hair. She was wearing a long white dress which left a long tail behind her. The artist in Willow was itching to paint the beautiful scenery before her.

The beauty in front of her, turned her head to look at Willow. Willow's breath was stuck when she saw the familiar blue eyes stare at her. The beauty looked ageless, as if she was frozen in the prime of her youth, but her blue eyes, the very eyes Willow had inherited, said otherwise. It was as if she had seen it all, every single thing.

"Your highness." Axel bowed his head and got on a knee.

Willow's eyes widened when she saw her father and followed suit clumsily. "Your highness." She squeaked, making her cringe at the way her voice came out. She was taken aback for sure, because this isn't how she imagined her first meet with her grandmother to be.

"Rise." Came a mellifluous voice from the beauty—goddess, before her. The goddess waved her hand over to the seat before her, beckoning for her to sit down. "You may leave." The goddess looked at Axel, her voice cold.

Axel's smile tightened. "Well you see, I was explaining some things to my daughter. So if you may excuse us—"

"Is meeting my son's daughter a crime?" Said the Goddess in her cold voice.

"It might be if it's you we're talking about." Axel muttered.

"Did you say something?" The goddess rose her perfect brow.

"I really have to tell some things to my daughter."

Willow didn't have to be a genius to guess what was happening in front of her. What peace? What joy? What happiness? This goddess represented none of that! She had been expecting a friendly granny for crying out loud! And why was her father so stiff? Did they have some sort of inheritance dispute? Willow wanted to cry bloody tears.

"I can tell her just fine." Came the cold voice of the goddess making Willow shiver. "You can leave now."

"Tsk."

"I said," the temperature dropped a few more degrees, Willow hoped that someone would send a sweater for her. "Leave."

Axel glared at the goddess. "I'll be back soon, to bring my daughter back." He walked away in a huff.

"Sit."

Willow jumped when she heard the goddess talk, as she had been longingly looking at her father walk away, she didn't want to stay here! "Yes of course, thank you." Willow clamped her mouth shut before she could say anything else as she took her seat.

A maid walked over and poured into a teacup. Willow, with her shaky hands gripped onto the teacup, under the scrutinising gaze of the goddess. "Thank you."

The garden was silent as Willow raised the teacup to her lips and blinked when she sipped, in confusion. Scrunching her brows she sipped again, to taste hot chocolate again. She was very sure that her cup held hot chocolate. Willow peeked over at the goddess, over the rim of her small teacup.

"Do you not like it, pet?" Came the cold voice of the goddess.

Willow nodded. "I do, I like it." She wasn't lying though, this hot chocolate was too rich in its flavour, she felt like she was drinking warm chocolate from the chocolate factory of Willy Wonka, but one doesn't drink hot chocolate from a teacup! But she was too nervous and was afraid that if her answer didn't please the goddess, she'd be toast, a literal toast. "I'll thank you, goddess."

The goddess narrowed her eyes at Willow, it looked as if she was displeased. Willow broke into a sweat when she noticed that, she was toast for real now. "You are my my son's daughter."

"Ah? Yes!" Willow almost yelled, she just wanted to go home!

"So is that how you would call me?" Said the Goddess.

"Sorry? I didn't catch you there, goddess."

The goddess sneered at Willow. Holy sh—she was done for! "You're not allowed to call me 'goddess'."

"Not goddess?" Willow slowly questioned. She was really nervous to say what she was going to next. "Then, g-grandma?"

The fire in the goddess's eyes seemed to have calmed down.

Willow was speechless. Is this still the cold and arrogant moon goddess before her? No, someone must have kidnapped and replaced her, just a few seconds prior.

"That's more like it." Said the Goddess coolly, sipping from her teacup. "Your father had mentioned something about you having some questions, you can ask your grandmother about them."

Willow almost flinched at that. She did indeed have questions, but she felt that she would like to hear it from her father instead. But then she recalled her father saying that the moon goddess was the one who paired up mates. Willow bit her lips as she hesitated to ask her questions.

"You must be wondering why you have two mates."

Willow's head snapped up when she heard that, normally she probably wouldn't have liked pouring her heart out to a stranger, but at that moment she wanted to tell everything to the goddess, she wondered if it wasn't because she was family or if she was a goddess, or maybe both. "Technically, yes. I don't really feel that Hunter is my mate, but everyone else says otherwise and I—"

"Do you want to see for yourself, pet?"

"See for myself?"

The goddess nodded. "The truth."

Willow's heart jumped up to her throat. She did indeed want the truth, but she was afraid, afraid of what she would see, of she would find, after all ignorance is bliss.

"You can choose not to find the truth and go on with your life as it is, you'd probably find out the truth or maybe you won't. It's up to you."

Willow bit her lip as she mulled it over in her head. Did she want the truth or not? She did, she wanted to know who her mate really was and yell it out to the world that Rowan was her mate, but there might be a chance that Hunter could be her mate, it worried her greatly.

Willow shook her head. "I want to know, Know who my true mate is."

"I'm glad that you chose to face the problem now instead of pushing it to the back." Said the Goddess. "I would have had to do a DNA test if you would have chosen the latter."

Willow blinked at the goddess, but before she could say anything she saw her surrounding change and she was standing in the school library.

"I, Alpha Hunter Reed, reject you Willow Greene, as my mate."

They were familiar words that Willow had been hearing for the past week, as familiar as the library she was currently in. But Willow was startled, too startled because she could swear that she was drinking hot chocolate with the Moon Goddess.

As she stood there, she saw the familiar scene go on in front of her. She even knew what was to come after this, Hunter would leave, the other Willow collapses, JR comes in to the rescue, then Melody—she knew it very well.

Hunter left, just as expected and the other Willow stared at Hunter, as if hoping that he'd turn back around and take his words back.

Follow him.

Willow startled, looked around, she was sure this line was off script.

Follow him, pet.

"Goddess?" Willow whispered.

Go.

Willow nodded as she saw Hunter disappear from the corner of her eyes. Willow ran after him, wondering why the goddess would ask her to follow Hunter.

Hunter was already out of the door by the time Willow caught up to him. She was shocked to see Hunter lean against the wall as if he was drained of energy. In her head Hunter had always been too arrogant, too proud, to ever show a weak side of him to anyone.

Willow saw as Hunter watched JR rush into the library, Hunter looked away from from the door and looked to be deep in thought. The door to the library opened once again and out came Triple. Her eyes looking resolute as she walked over to Hunter.

"Alpha Hunter." Said Triple softly.

Hunter looked surprised, but he morphed his face back into indifference. "What is it?"

"I heard what happened in there."

Hunter stiffened, before he raised his brows, giving away nothing. "What are you gonna do about it?" He threatened, his voice sharp.

"I can help you." Triple smiled, Willow didn't know why but she felt scared when she saw that. "You rejected her, but you and I both know that the bond won't be completely wiped out."

"What's your point?"

"I know someone," said Triple. "Someone who can help you with that."

"Why are you doing this?" Hunter narrowed his eyes. "What do you want."

"You of all should know what I want, I want to be the Luna in return."

"Then what about your mate?"

"Does it matter? I swear on the goddess that I won't accept my mate, anyway I bet he wouldn't be much. I'll be honest with you, you're probably the only mateless Alpha, that too of a pack as powerful as ours.

"I've been trained to become a Luna ever since I was five, so you won't be on the losing end either. I'll be much more reliable than that human anyway. I can give you time to think about it, but not much, in case your wolf might have second thoughts about mating with that human."

"No," said Hunter.

"You should think abou—"

"Let's do it now."

Triple looked surprised at first, but then her face broke into a smile, even though she looked as beautiful as she always does, there was something so sinister in that smile of hers. Willow felt goosebumps rise on her arms. "That's more like it."
