《The New World Rising : How to Build a Dungeon Kingdom》Chapter 6 - Level Up!

Lilith was stunned by the army in front of her. I did not know for how long I could keep summoning and developing my dungeon and renew my Spirit Points merely by leveling up, but all I could think of was continuing to do so until I cannot. All the creatures were standing before me so I felt like I needed to give a speech of a sort in order to introduce them to their new home. I quickly thought of a name for this underworld city: the New World. I wanted to keep my tribe’s name, although it was disbanded upon my death.
“Welcome to the New World!”
Crowd rumbled like a thunder to my words. I saw the troll I summoned jumping and roaring, in the midst of short skinny goblins.
“From now on, you are citizens of the New World, the first and the biggest city of the underworld! As you are citizens, you will work for the New World, and will accordingly be taken care of. Our country will have three rules and if these rules are violated by any one of you, proper punishment will be given. First, you cannot kill other citizens. People who come from outerworld also will not be killed directly. We will see if they want to join our country. Second rule is that you cannot steal from each other. I do not want any conflict within the country. The last rule is WE WILL CRUSH OUR ENEMIES!”
“Aaaaaarghhhh!!!!”
I was deafened by the war screams of the army before my eyes. They were understanding my language and I was even successful at encouraging them for developing the country. They were applauding. I was not expecting civilized manners from these monster, nor did I expect them to understand my language, but now, as I stood in front of a great army, that was going to be much greater, I was sure that everything was going to be fine.
Lilith was standing next to me, totally puzzled. I had a feeling that her expression was not because of the fact that I was able to speak the language of all the creatures I have summoned, but rather because she sensed the potential of my abilities.
I decided to use goblins as the main labor force of the society. Instead of swords and axes, they had pickaxes and shovels when they were summoned, so I ordered them to expand the dungeon by digging up enough space for new rooms. They were working fast but they did not have enough energy to work day in day out. I basically designed a schedule for goblins so they could work more efficiently. Fifty goblins were working on hard labor like construction while the other fifty were having time off. I thought that it would be good if they took turns like this, as the project would go on non-stop. Cave troll and deep cave troll had much more stamina compared to goblins so I ordered them to help goblins until they get tired.

As goblins started the construction, we happened to obtain more and more resources. Goblins were digging up stones and sometimes they were even finding natural resources such as coal and iron. I ordered imps and hobgoblins work in coordination to process the material to produce tools. Imps had a special ability of producing flames that I discovered later. It was not considerably strong and it did not last long, but it produced enough heat to heat up the materials. As hobgoblins and imps were processing the natural resources goblins and trolls found during construction, orcs and ogres were training for a possible invasion by outlanders. I ordered orcs to burry a pitfall at the entrance of the dungeon and throw all the slimes in that pitfall, as they were neither very mobile, and nor they were conscious. They had the ability to digest random things. So I was hoping that in case of an attack to our dungeon, a slime trap could slow the enemy down, and help us gain enough time to allocate our forces accordingly.
Of course, while everyone was obeying my commands and working hard, I was also doing my best to expand the New World. I was summoning more and more “citizens” each day. First, I thought it would be much easier to summon minions and replenish my spirit points due to the effect of level up, however, after spending all of my spirit points again and again, I came to the point that I could not level up. It was okay though.
I summoned 1500 goblins, 500 hobgoblins, 250 imps, 200 orcs, 83 ogres, 14 cave trolls, and 11 deep cave trolls more. I also summoned 5000 slimes after I learned that slime is perhaps the most common staple food in the underworld. I ordered some of the imps and hobgoblins to be responsible from the kitchen. I gave the same orders to everyone according to their race. I was planning to change the system and give the orders in accordance with each individual’s trait, but as for now, since the New World was a fairly small community, I decided to keep it the way it is until we grow bigger.

I learned after my spirit points were deprived by my careless actions that when your spirit points reach 0, you faint. And I also accordingly learned that when you sleep, your spirit points get regenerated.

Although I summoned a great number of minions, my summoning skill was only improved by one level.
“Lilith, I summoned all these but my Summon skill is only increased from 4 to 5. Do you know why?”
“Master, have you tried summoning new races?”
“New races?”
“Yes. There are many more races than the ones our dungeon currently has. I believe summoning minions with different traits than you currently have might increase your level more.”
“Oh… Thank you Lilith.”
“It is my pleasure, Master.”
I remembered that I have not eaten anything good in a long time. We were eating slimes for a long time.
“Can I summon animals?”
“Do you mean animals from outer world, Master?”
“Yes. You know… like cows, pigs, chickens, quails, hares…”
“I have never heard of a dungeon lord who has summoned livestock, Master. I honestly do not think so, but after seeing what you have done in just a few days I would not be so sure. Also, I suuppose it really was the dungeon master's menu that you were able to use before being reincarnated as the dungeon master. It might be possible for you. However, even if you cannot summon livestock from outer world, we can visit a small town in the outer world and buy livestock. Then, we can bring them back to the dungeon, Master.”
“That is a brilliant idea Lilith. I am very glad that you are my assistant.”
I saw Lilith blushing. Her cheeks blossomed like small roses in an instant. She tried to hide it by turning her back to me.
“Okay, let us go to the outer world in couple hours and buy some livestock. So we can have a fancy dinner together. I would prefer to save my spirit points as well.”
Lilith did not say anything.
I wanted to listen to Lilith and try to summon new races. It would also be more beneficial for the New World as I wanted to establish an actual civilization here. More races would bring more diversity and our society would function better.
“Now let me see what I can summon…”
-Spirit Summoning Menu- / Spirit Points 296753
Slime (Normal/Water/Fire/Earth/Wind/Light) – 2/7/7/7/7/7
Goblin– 10
Hobgoblin – 20
Imp (Normal/Fire/Darkness) – 25/50/50
Skeleton – 25
Ghoul – 25
Orc – 35
Ogre – 75
Warg – 85
Three fanged wolf – 85
Cave troll – 100
Undine – 150
Dryad – 150
Deep cave troll – 250
Minotaur – 300
Manananggan – 400
Oni - 450
Lich – 450
Gargoyle – 450
I had enough points to summon every creature a lot of times. For now, I decided not to summon ghouls, skeletons, or gargoyles. Ghouls would probably eat meat and we do not have any meat as for now. Even if we had, that would be the last thing I would like to waste. Skeletons would probably not be very useful for construction or a battle, as ogres and orcs are already powerful and huge in numbers. Gargoyle would probably be powerful but we do not have space for a gargoyle to fly freely. So I skip that too.
Other than these, I was pretty confused about fire/darkness imps and different types of slimes I could summon. Imps, as for now, have an ability to create fire to a certain extend. Does it mean that their ability will be much higher if I summon a fire imp? Will they lose that ability if I summon a darkness imp? What does the darkness imp even do? Are my current imps normal? Will they ever evolve? Same with the slimes. The slimes I have summoned are nothing more than food. They can digest random things but even that is at a very slow pace. I guess I will give it a try.
At the end, I summoned 15 liches, 15 onis, 15 mananaggans, 50 minotaurs, 60 undines, 60 dryads, 250 three fanged wolves, 250 wargs, 300 fire imps, 300 darkness imps, 800 hobgoblins, 1500 goblins, 50 ogres, and a shit ton of slimes with different traits.
As a result, of course, I fainted.

Upheaval - The Gentle Apocalypse
The world is changing, but people carry on. Early in the summer, the world started changing. It is not known who first found out, but magic was real, or had become real. Of course, with the world as interconnected as it is, it took only two days for most people to know about it. Online groups sprang up, eager to test humanity’s collective new toy. Quickly, it was found out that it was all but harmless; there were (unconfirmed) reports of deaths as soon as the first day. Nevertheless, it is a novelty to most, trying it out like you’d try sports or a game. The world marches on as scientists set out to study this new phenomenon, to use it for furthering our collective knowledge and to understand it. But that won’t show any results any time soon; it is only five days since the “Reveal” meanwhile I’m out camping. I had planned this since March, to unwind from sixteen years of studying. Finally! Finally I am done with school! Getting a job is another matter… So I figured, with this magic stuff, why not try out meditating on it? I’ve enjoyed more than enough books and other media that at least some of the magic methods should be viable. Turns out, the world might not let me relax. R15+ Coarse language and adult themes. This story is finished.

Until You Do It Right
The world ended on December thirty-first of the year two thousand and twenty, precisely at the stroke of midnight. The human race began to be systematically exterminated by the spawn of the System. We were given a chance to defeat them, to take back our place at the top of the food chain. We failed. The first to perish were those who bravely rebelled. The soldiers. The defenders. One by one, they fell. In their final moments, they begged for aid. Nobody replied. The next to succumb were those who feebly cowered. The deniers. The leeches. Together, they fell. In their final moments, they cried out into the darkness. Countless voices replied in kind. The last to decline were those who shamelessly ran. The deserters. The cowardly. Alone, they fell. In their final moments, they whimpered quietly. There was nobody left to answer. The final human to die was a survivor. A runner. As he died, he begged for salvation. His prayers were answered. He was offered a chance to save himself, along with all of humanity, and he took it. This is his story. “I sat in the dark and thought: There’s no big apocalypse. Just an endless procession of little ones.”― Neil Gaiman, Signal to Noise. I am absolutely new to writing and will take any and all constructive criticism. Please give feedback, it is greatly appreciated. I will update the tags as they change, and I hope that you enjoy this little story I'm writing! Quick warning: Seamus is intentionally a flawed character, and this story is going to explore those flaws and perhaps even change a few of them. I do not agree with all of his actions, but it is what it is.
