《Skelly Boy》Chapter 30 : Boney Passives

Greg originally wanted siege towers, catapults, and large wooden spikes to raise from the ground at his signal…. But he knew that none of that was practical or feasible. Not because Greg is some kind of tactical genius. Stories of Roman legions crossing into barbaric foreign lands bored him in high school, and he wasn’t a big fan of most video games titled “strategy.” However, he knew that flimsy siege weapons won’t stand a chance against a giant turtle Godzilla. So, when he realizes he has only a few minutes to prepare, he does the only thing that comes to mind.

A peg and a rope. Pegs are easy enough to find; even in the burnt-out city, pieces of broken wood or half-burnt specimens can be snapped and sharpened into shape. The skeletons form an assembly line, eight skellies long, to process anything and everything that can be used in conjunction with whatever cloth, sheets, and pieces of stray material the skeleton army can use for rope. From Greg’s perspective, the issue is getting at least two ropes made that are long enough to be thrown and caught on the shell of the Kapa Boss.

Essentially a grappling hook. And Greg, through diligence and astute directions, manages to make five.

But that is the easy part. The hard part is convincing Matt to distract the boss monster long enough for his plan to work. Which, long story short, he does…mostly by convincing the young Liche that it was his idea.

So they hide Greg and Doug’s skelly boys inside the piles of dead Kapa soldiers and citizens, hoping that the beast will just go on a rampage upon seeing his city laid to ruin. It would have been terribly easy for the Kapa Boss to crush and smash them to pieces before they even had time to scream. But that doesn’t happen. Matt makes the giant gag on acid, and now Greg leads his troops up the giant shell of the behemoth like he is playing Shadow of the Colossus.

But even as Greg marvels at how cool he is, he can’t help but thank Doug for having the foresight to take a level in Bone Formation;

Bone Formation : Skeletons that are organized in Squads have an increased chance of performing the same action in Sync. Actions done in Sync are (25%) more effective.

Which combos well with Bone Legionnaire and Bone Synergies;

Bone Legionnaire : Organize your skeletons into proper fighting formations! The more organized your units (and the more units you have unalive), the stronger (10%) Bone Commanders become.

Bone Synergies : Skeletons under your command have an increased chance of performing actions in Sync. Every time a skeleton performs an action in Sync, increase the next attack action of a Skeleton Commander by (40%) stacking.

So when Greg climbs the spiky back of the Kapa Boss and stabs his eye-

Kapa Boss has suffered Minor/Major/It-Just-Hurts Piercing Damage!

The beast bellows, his whole body rigid with the shooting stars of pain radiating from his face straight to the innermost parts of his lizard brain. Everything seems to go white, then red, then black, then white again, as the body jerks away from the sensation but has nowhere to go. Well, nowhere besides down.
