It had been a little over an hour since I had texted Lee. I still felt a little unsure about my decision to tell him the truth, but knew that I would have to do it sooner or later, and doing it now just seemed like the best idea. At least then, it would ease some of the worry that I had been carrying around all day.

I laid back against my couch, sinking down into the cushions as the doorbell rang. I pushed myself up and walked over to the door, slowly peeking through the peephole before letting out a relieved breath as I pulled the door open. Lee stood tall, holding a brown paper bag of food in one hand and his phone in the other.

I still wasn't exactly sure how I was supposed to greet him after all of the tension from this morning, so I simply stepped aside and let him in. He walked past me, setting the food down onto the kitchen table as I finished shutting the door and locking it behind me. When I was done, I turned around and headed into the kitchen, still trying to figure out what to say as I reached Lee.

I wrung my hands together helplessly as I opened my mouth, waiting for the words to come out. "Lee," I had started before he cut me off, wrapping me in his arms. He squeezed me gently and I hugged him back, sighing. He pulled back just a little so that he could look down at me before he frowned.

"So, are you going to tell me what's been bothering you?" He asked gently, awaiting my response.

I took a deep breath, feeling as my throat tightened just a little. He held my chin in his hand.

"Simone, what's wrong?"

"It's Jason." I responded lowly.

He frowned once more. "The guy you work with, right?"

I nodded again. "Yes, I- I think he's been stalking me or I don't know, he's just been creeping me out lately." I confessed.

Lee tensed. "Why do you say that?"

"It's just the little things he says and does. At first I didn't really think anything of it until last night at the Christmas party." I said, "He was wearing a tie that was the same exact color as my dress. The only person that even knew what I was going to wear last night was Victoria."

"That sounds like a coincidence."

I shook my head. "But that's not all. The other day when I got home I had found a box outside my apartment. I thought that it was from you, but Jason told me that he had put it there." I looked up at Lee. "Those earrings I had on last night were in that box." I shivered slightly, "Just thinking about it makes me sick."

Lee ran a hand through his dark hair. "Is there anything else that I should know?"

I frowned. "No, I don't know. I'm just a little scared to be honest." I replied, "I should've never lead him on in the first place."

Lee gave me a look of sympathy. "It's not your fault. He still shouldn't be doing what he's been doing. Any man in their right mind would have sense enough not to come to another man's girlfriend's house and leave her a gift." Lee stated, "Don't worry. I'll handle it."

I immediately shook my head. "No, you can't!"

This time he frowned. "And why can't I?" He asked bewildered.

"If you confront Jason and he realizes who you are, he might tell other people and then everyone will know that you're here in town."

"So?" Lee said as if it was nothing.

"So?" I demanded, "If you confront Jason about me, he might tell other people that we're dating and then the whole world will know."

Lee sighed. "Please tell me we're not doing this again."

"Doing what?" I asked confused.

He took a step back, motioning his hands around. "Doing the whole, 'I don't want people to know that we're together' thing. I know that I'm famous and that if people find out your life will change, but would it really be so bad?" He asked, "I hate to say it, but I'm starting to feel like your dirty little secret and I don't like it. At all. It's not fair, Simone."

I felt anger rising in me as I stared back at him. "And it's not fair for you to ask that of me. My whole life will change, where will my privacy go?" I demanded, "What will happen once you get tired of me and leave? I'll be the talk of the town."

He shook his head. "I'm not going to argue with you on this matter again."

"I'm not asking you too. I'm just trying to get you to understand-"

"That you don't think we're going to make it. You still won't even give me the benefit of the doubt. Sometimes I think you forget the fact that I even proposed to you for goodness sakes, and I didn't even know you. If that doesn't tell you anything then-" Lee started, before sighing, "You know what, maybe you're right." He said, a little hurt. He picked his phone back up from the table and headed for the door.

"Lee, where are you going?" I called, not understanding exactly all of what was happening at the moment.

"To handle it." He said simply.

"Handle what?"

"Jason," he replied, "and then I'll give you some space. I know you're just upset right now, and I'm trying really hard not to say something I'll regret later." He said, reaching the door, "call me when you're ready or maybe..I don't know," he shook his head before shutting the door behind him.

And just like that he was gone, leaving me standing in my living room all alone to think about just how badly I had exaggerated. I let out a sigh as I shook my head and headed to my room to think about how I was going to apologize to him - that is if he even wanted my apology.
