《The Legacy of Gilgamesh》Chapter 2 The Beginning

"Your belongings have arrived, friend. The delivery man's voice on the phone said, "Come out and get it."

"Okay, I'll be there." Rico painstakingly exited the house, leaving the iPad he was carrying at the bedside.

The middle-aged delivery man is a buddy. When he saw Rico, he waved his hand angrily.

"Hurry up, I've got a lot on my plate today; this arrived from Mexico; must be from your father? In any case, sign this paper." John's focus switched to the classic car passing past, oblivious of whether Rico was replying or not.

Johnson is the name of the middle-aged guy. For short, John. Rico's mother's best friend is John. Rico's father appears to dislike him, but Rico sees him as a nice guy who can be grumpy at times. But he's a dependable guy.

While Rico was signing the papers, John talked about his recent love life.

Rico believes he didn't care much and was just chit-chatting. Rico was not in the mood to talk. He returns inside after answering and signing the form.

"Hah, it appears to be a match to the last round disc mum sent." Rico opened the box. Inside contained a cylindrical object, which was dusty and looked rather inconspicuous.

But such a sight made Rico smile, and his cheeks stretched into his ears. He dashed upstairs to his study room and pulled out a disc with the same designs as the cylinder.

This disc was made of stone, with intricately carved lines weaving through it like spiderwebs and grooves filled with stone beads. There was a hole in the centre of the disc, and the freshly delivered object appeared to fit perfectly. Rico placed the cylindrical object in the empty area without hesitation.

The two components are placed together in perfect harmony, precisely like when two shattered mirrors reconnect, and the disc is instantly complete. Strangely, it seemed alluring.

"Now let's see how you'll look in your new home," Rico said, looking down at the smooth disc in his palms. He was singing a victory song while bouncing on the balls of his feet. He couldn't keep the smile from spreading over his lips. He dances as he reaches his relic room.

The following section comprises a collection of antiquities that have been thrown together, almost like a mini-museum. Along with a few stone sculptures from the Babylonian Empire, a few Mayan pyramid pieces, and a few tiny Aztec stone pillars.

All of these items, however, merely have some historical and archival value; none of them is priceless. If not, Rico wouldn't be able to buy them all without going bankrupt from debt.

Both of Rico's parents are respected authorities in the field of archaeology. He has an archaeologist for a father. Additionally, his mother is an archaeologist who deals with cultural artefacts. The mother's resale of antiques is the only source of money for their household.

Rico's mother is brilliant in this aspect and seldom had trouble getting respectable offers. Rico is living a luxurious life as a result of this. Additionally, he has more than enough money from his mother to live a comfortable life.

He is wealthy and lives alone in a two-story villa. The villa was pricey, but compared to the residences in his area, it was not regarded as attractive.

Rico does not, however, enjoy splurging money carelessly. Apart from food and drink, his mother sends him a modest amount of cash each month. He saves the remainder for his money management.

He also tried working, but he discovered that it was not worthwhile because he didn't make much money. His earnings were inferior to the meagre portion of his mother's stipend. Later, he just gave up his job and started to play video games at home or learn about the artefacts he was holding.

His hobbies didn't interest his parents. They continue to send him cash and, on rare occasions, items they have unearthed themselves or through archaeologists.

This Disc was given to him by his father. It was a tool found in the Mayan civilization's ruins. It served as both a timekeeper and a charm for the fields they harvested. According to his father, it was essentially worthless.

The disc, however, was not complete, just like the other items that had previously been mailed. They make Rico feel less alone, which makes him like them a lot.

Rico examined the disc fragments. In his palms, they felt cold and heavy, exactly like the loneliness that was weighing him down. It was a pity that it was imperfect, for they are also lost and alone.

"Unexpectedly, my mother and old man agreed to look for all the missing artefacts and send them back home." He grunted.

They were thoughtful in doing this. Rico finished the disc and set the disc on a shelf in the room with the artefacts.

Rico mused, his thoughts now muddied by other problems, "When I'm in the mood, I'll deal with the Disc." Rico tried to place the disc on the shelf, but it slipped from his grasp, and the item fell to the floor.

Rico was terrified. fearing that the disc might break. After all, the majority of these artefacts are now quite delicate to the touch due to the degradation inflicted by time.

He had previously accidentally damaged a duplicate Ming Dynasty porcelain platter. The fact that the plate survived both the war and the passage of time before being destroyed by him concerns Rico more than it should.

Fortunately, there was no damage or breaking to this Mayan cultural stone plate. Rico breathed a sigh of relief and exhaled. Rico leans forward, his gaze fixed on the relic.

Unintentionally, his head pushed another ornament off the shelf. It landed exactly where he had previously placed the extra component on the disc. Rico was astounded to see the ornament defy physics and fall inside the disc.

His body became icy. He wiped his eyes in disbelief. His body began to freeze. In amazement, he wiped his eyes. His gaze was locked to the floor as he gently picked up the thing and noticed that the place where he had grabbed it was now spotless. There was nothing out of place, and the floor was empty.

"What the heck?"

He looked up, perplexed, to make sure that there was unquestionably one thing missing from the shelf. He continued to repeatedly look at the disc after that.

The ornament has completely disappeared into the disc, which is still there. Unbelievably, Rico automatically reached out to touch the disc's centre to see whether he was being dazzled or if reality wasn't what it seemed.

Consequently, either as he had hoped or unanticipated. Like the last object, Rico's hand disappeared when he reached the centre of the disc. On the other side, he could still feel his hand, but it was an odd sensation. Although there were differences, it felt more fluid than jelly and was akin to being in the water. He could only put it like this.

The disc's centre unexpectedly exploded into a suction force as Rico was ready to release his hand. Rico was drawn in by the disc's tremendous suction before he could blink.
