“We’ve got a stray one here,” said Captain Scheider pointing at the radar system.

AIRCRAFT LOCATED IN THE PURE CENTRE flashed the message on the screen.

“It’s one of ours, Sir!” said Ivan. “But why are they going that way?”

“I don’t know. It’s an army conscription ship, miles away from the deployment zone. Make contact.”

A radio signal was sent out to try and reach the ship. No response.

“This doesn’t look good. Try again.”

At the second time of asking, there was an answer.

“This is Captain Scheider, Commander of HEDGEHOG. State who you are and your purpose. You are flying in banned airspace.”

There was nothing, but a hysterical laugh.

“Crawklings?” said Ivan.

“I repeat, state who you are, and your purpose.”

The laughing got louder and there was a loud tapping of a hand the radio.

“This is the Grand Zombie Master, and I am going to destroy you all.”

There was radio silence, and silence around the control room

Finally, Captain Scheider spoke up.

“Don’t worry. We still have our diversion.”

“Fingers crossed,” said Ivan.

The whole control room watched in a tense silence as the dot on the screen flashed and moved at an excruciatingly slow speed towards the large sign they had made and installed.

“Come on…” said Ivan, willing the dot towards the fake White Centre.

“It’s hasn’t worked,” said Captain Scheider. “I knew it was a rubbish plan.”

There was silence until Ivan piped up. “It wasn’t that bad Sir. They must have had a sat nav. You can’t fool them.”

“Bloody Tom,” muttered Captain Scheider. “So good they named him twice.”

They sat, slowly watching the flashing dot of the ship of the Grand_Zombie_Master flying closer and closer to the White Centre. This could be what they had always feared. They were going to lose the war.
