《The Hereafter》Lightning Never Strikes Twice, Part 1

***POV: SYLVAR VAFAREN***
Sitting down at my desk, I placed my hands on the table. "ZENTHRA!"
My wind magic covered the room, covering all the corners and crevices, so no one could eavesdrop on me. The room was now a wind encompassed area, where no one could enter or exit without my permission. Even sound itself could not escape or enter the magic.
I raised my hand and initiated an incantation as I faced my palm toward the table. "ZENTON ZERTAL ZENTIS ZENTER ZENTON!" A brown cube fell onto the table — a transmission relic. The cube leaked deathly magic.
The relic was made out of many smaller cubes and reshaped itself, forming itself to my incantation. The cube relic stopped moving.
I grabbed the cube and held it with my hands, initiating another incantation. "ZENTON ZENTON ZENTON ZENTER ZENTIS ZERTAL ZENTON ZENTON ZENTON!" The cube split open, a green circular gem revealing itself.
The gem released a black smoke circling around my face. It wrapped around me, suffocating me to death, but I gripped the smoke, pulling the smoke away from my neck and releasing some of the pressure. I yelled an incantation. "ZENTONATHAR!"
The black smoke dissipated into nothingness.
Taking deep breaths, I leaned forward and spoke into the relic. "My king, the specimen is far from the product you wish for. Unfortunately, my liege, the specimen is not whom you hope it to be, and again as your loyal follower, I urge a revaluation of Lawrme. That devil may spew information, but his genuine plans are beyond us. We must dispose of him soon."
I widened my eyes as my brain tingled. My magic alarmed me that someone was nearing, they were still far, but they were coming my way.
Gripping the box, I spoke faster. "Still, all hope is not lost. We have discovered the bearer of Yamama." I clenched my eyes and spoke. "Again, I understand your concerns for the specimen, especially not letting others learn the truth. But even if the specimen is who you believe him to be, his dearest friend is still clueless. My liege, for now, I bid you a fond farewell."
The cube sealed and rearranged itself, no longer leaking any magic. I grabbed the cube, saying a final incantation. "ZENTHRA!" The cube disappeared into a mist, entering my ring — a conveyance device.
Releasing the magic, I sat tall on my chair and cleared my throat. "You may enter!"
An individual entered my room and sat down on the chair opposite of me, looking at me, but he was hard to see because of how dim the lights were. He took a mask out of his suitcase, covering his face. He wore black bandages around his face, and a white marked "L" was painted on the mask.
I formed another barrier with my magic, allowing it so we could talk in private. "How would you like me to refer to your Professor-" I said, but he snapped his finger and cut me off.
Magic erupted from him as he stood up and stared at me. His voice altered from his real one, almost like he was using some type of magic to change it. "I am no Professor!"

I created eye contact with his mask, looking at him as he spoke. "That is a gimmick for me to bestow my appreciation to the one and only LAW of this accursed world! My profession is only to serve my one and only lord!"
"Tell your lord that I said hello," I clicked my tongue, rubbing my beard. "And tell him everything he wanted is going to plan."
"That is not why I am here, Vafaren," he said, grabbing his face as he breathed heavily. "Or should I call you-"
"Enough," I cleared my throat, standing up. "Tell me what you want, or I will end you and your little fan club this instance!"
He tilted his head and spoke. "I would kill you this moment if it were not my lord's orders!"
"Tell your lord he can come to kill me himself if he would like to," I shrugged, nearing the masked man.
The masked man punched the wall, but he hit my magic instead. "My lord wishes that you not interfere with the current plans. You have done enough, so leave the rest to the LAW!"
"So be it, the law or whatever you believe in, I won't interfere. I will allow it to dictate his future. After all, the specimen is worth as much to us as it is to you folk."
"Vafaren," the masked man said, unwrapping his mask from his eyes, his eye narrowed at me. He shook his head as his voice deepened. "The LAW planned for you. You do not plan for the LAW!"
I didn't say anything and sat back down.
The masked man unwrapped himself, placing his wraps away. He stood in front of the door and didn't say anything as his lips tugged upright.
Releasing my magic, he walked out of my room.
Sitting still, I stared at the ceiling. 'So this is where it all begins...'
*THREE DAYS LATER, AT THE BASE OF COMBAT AND INTERNAL AFFAIRS*
***POV: DRAY GOODE***
"Our recon teams have explored all nearing areas and no results," my assistant said, her voice trembling in anger. "They even ventured into major cities, and no traces of Wryn Ruhtra Radcliffe are to be found. The only piece of evidence we found was the boy's conveyance device on a roof in Fetch..."
"I already know that," I said, gripping papers and crumbling them up.
"The only thing this could mean is King Ar-"
I slammed my fist on the table, standing up and yelling. "Do not speak of the King in such a manner!"
"But Commander, only the King could have done such a task!"
"Silence, Rose!" I yelled, punching through the table. "What kind of Commander am I? I let my dear friend's child go missing. Not only did he go missing, but he went missing in the city of Fetch. I promised an oath to protect this city, and I failed!"
I walked onto the table, stepping on it. "I will go find Wryn, myself!"

"Commander, you can't leave your shift! It's is against the rules, and you will be punished for it!" Rose yelled, her eyes glancing at me with pain. She gulped, walking in front of me and standing tall. "I can't let you pass!"
I gripped my fists, clenching my teeth as I inhaled from my nose. Starting at the floor, I let a small smile transpire. "What kind of Commander would I be if I let my people die."
"For all we know, WRYN RADCLIFFE is already dead! Three days have passed since!" She yelled, gripping her head. "It pains me to say it, but whoever wanted him... Got what they want!"
Looking up, I glanced at the ceiling. "I won't let another friend view me in a bad light. If I have to! Eos and I will journey the world and back!"
Rose remained quiet, closing her eyes as she spoke. "Please don't hurt yourself. You have a family that cares for you."
"Understood," I said, walking forward.
"You are not allowed to!" A voice yelled, coming from the entrance of the room. One of my assistants and a man entered the planning room. My assistant yelled, following behind the man. "Commander Goode is far too busy for you!"
"My old pal," the man said, walking toward me. He tilted his head, pointing to the broken desk. "What did you do here?"
"Ezana! I don't have time for this!" I yelled, looking at Commander.
"Who doesn't have time for me! The son of Mahrem!" The Commander said, standing tall and looking at me.
I walked past the Commander, but he grabbed my shoulder, stopping me from moving. He straightened his face and shook his head. "You have no clue where to go."
"I'll find him," I said, trying to grip the Commanders wrist, but I gripped one of his many gold armbands. I clenched the metal, but I couldn't break it despite my anger. The gold bracelets had some type of magic protecting them.
"You're far too angsty," the Commander said, tilting his head, his braids flopping down.
I stepped away from the Commander, releasing my magic and directing it towards him.
The Commander laughed, holding his heart.
The gold garments he wore shined against the light. My sight kept meeting his grand yet terrifying presence, but I knew I couldn't back down because he was here to stop me.
I made a promise to bring Wryn back. I couldn't go against my words!
Placing my right hand in the air, I twitched my finger, ready to move down. "SHAM-"
"Calm down, hot shot," the Commander said, cutting me off and grabbing my hand.
My eyes widened as we created eye contact, but he stood still and smiled, a presence unmistakably menacing.
He held my hand, shaking it up and down.
My assistants ran toward me, but I yelled, "No one comes near us!"
My assistants watched us like eagles, ready to intervene, but unfortunately, I knew even if they helped me, they would be in the way.
I asked, "Ezana Axum, what do you want?!"
The Commander let go of me and flicked his hand in the air. He caught a blunt, bitting it as he spoke. "Got a light?"
"No," I said, thinking of a plan as I looked around.
He turned his head, glancing at my assistants and pointing to Rose. "Are you a part of the Mishal family?"
"I am," Rose declared in confidence, but her face showed another story. She breathed heavily, staring at the floor in an attempt to avoid eye contact with Commander Axum.
"Light my blunt for me," the Commander said, looking at Rose. He looked at me and held one finger up. "Give me a moment."
Rose neared the Commander and lit his blunt with her fire magic.
The Commander took three blows of his blunt and extended his arm, holding the blunt and offering it to me. "Want a hit?"
I shook my head, creating eye contact with the Commander. I needed a few more minutes to escape since my bond Eos neared the area.
The Commander placed his hand on my shoulder while he took a hit of his blunt with his other hand. He puffed the smoke into three circles, looking at me. "I wonder how many Captains a Commander can kill. Surely nine is adequate."
"What are you saying?!" I questioned, narrowing my eyes.
The Commander let go of me and turned around, walking away. "My weed farms in Evamea will take a great hit. Do find me a new location."
The Commander exited the room as my second assistant followed him.
My eyes lit up in a fierce fire, and my body burned with killing intent.
Rose neared me, closing her eyes. "I'll get reinforcements this moment!"
"There's no time for that," I said, walking forward.
"I was afraid you were going to say that," Rose said, opening her eyes. "At least leave a transmission track once you find them!"
"YEAH!" I yelled, steadying my pace. I ran forward, stepping up the stairs of the building and ascending to the roof — sixty levels high.
I ran towards the edge of the roof, jumping off it as I shot through clouds. The clouds drenched me, making me much heavier. My body hit against the wind, but I remained calm, plunging down. Yelling, I placed my hand in the air, extending it. "EOS!!!!!!!"
Eos flapped its wings, nearing me. I stretched my lips, my body thrashing against the wind, but I kept extending my hand, gripping the pommel on the Griffen. "AHHH!" I shouted, widening my mouth as I used all my body strength, pulling myself onto the beast.
"Evamea," I yelled, pointing to the right. "We're going to Evamea!"

I will also do my best to respond back to people's comments. I will upload a picture once I figure out how to do so. The first few chapters will be pretty much what Thecode uploaded before with a few changes in order to set up the story. I will try to upload a new chapter at least once every three days.

The Doormat Villainess – Adrianne
A villainess is a character who has always been diametrically opposed to the heroine of a romance drama. What makes a person a good villainess? The fact that she's unabashedly beautiful and charismatic, yet also rotten inside? The fact that she's incredibly loathsome, greedy, and selfish? That she's reasonably strong enough to be a hurdle, yet ultimately powerless in the face of a determined heroine? That despite all these character flaws, a Villainess's greatest virtue is unwilling to give up until the last of their breath, in pursuit of her personal desire? If those are the hallmark of a successful Villainess. Then, I might be the wrong person to play that role. Also on Scribblehub (Profile)
