Wooo! Finally complete with another Volume! Rejoice, yaaaaay!
To be honest, this was one of the arcs I was most worried about, since it took place almost entirely in a single Dungeon. I didn’t think I’d be able to write a lot about it, but it seems my worries were unfounded. The cast this time was also completely different, with Lune being put in a situation where he doesn’t know a single person present!
The theme for this Volume was “What if nothing went Lune’s way?” so I intended to make every single party member extremely selfish, ill-mannered or just unreasonable, which would lead to Lune losing his temper and being put at his wit’s end a lot. That being said, I (much like Lune) grew to like them quite a lot, so I couldn’t bring myself to make them out to be unlikeable (also, it wouldn’t make sense in a story sense).
Here’s another fun fact: in the original draft for this Volume, no one apart from Lune survived, but I saw the potential of having someone like Marina around to be way too large to just discard, so I ended up having her live as well. She’s just a bright ol’ ray of sunshine in this damp environment of Sibirus, and I can’t wait to write about all sorts of anecdotes about her in the other continents and such.
Speaking of characters who are more rarely mentioned in this Volume, Lemmy and Lee have been shunned from the bandits. It’s a bit of a shame in its own right, since they no longer have a place to call home, but who knows, maybe we’ll hear more about them in the future?
Now that I think about it, I’m already at Volume 4 of the story… Geez! That’s a lot of words, damn! I’m actually kind of getting ecstatic about this revelation, and the best part is I’m not even a fifth of the way there! I wonder how I’ll feel like when I finish the last Volume… Crap, now I’m sad.
