《Love Death Cemetery》Chap 42: More dead than alive

Lug did not return to Primont until the next day.
He couldn't stay out of the bathroom for more than 15 minutes.
He had been losing weight for more than a week and was getting closer to the point of no return every day.
He ate little and expelled very quickly all that he managed to ingest.
Gavan, who was usually so passive and detached, seemed worried.
He even asked him to stay and rest, despite the fact that he liked being alone so much.
"If you keep on like this, in a week you'll be dead." Gavan said to him, with a stern look.
And Gavan knew a lot about death.
Lug, didn’t take his warning into account and before going back to Primont, said to him in a feeble voice:
"I risk much more by staying here."
He headed back to the cursed area.
Eno saw him walking by, but he did not move.
He had already tried to dissuade him, but there was nothing he could do.
He waited by the cemetery gate, hoping that Hannah would come.
Maybe she could stop him, if she saw the state he was in.
Lug found himself once again in front of the gate that separated the peaceful southern neighborhoods from the infernal Primont district.
He was even weaker than yesterday, but he had a plan.
He would visualize suns in his hands and touch the ghosts.
"The energy surge should make them disappear," he thought.
It was a miracle that he could still think logically despite his exhaustion and the heavy headaches that felt like a vise was gripping his skull.
He opened the door but did not enter.
He just stood outside Primont with his arms raised to shoulder level and his eyes closed.
"Suns, suns, suns." he repeated this word like a mantra.
When he began to feel the palms of his hands heat up and the little electric shocks running through his arms he decided to step forward.

Still with his arms stretched out in front of him, his eyes half closed.
The bald ghost fell on him, as usual.
He raised his arms and at the same time as he received blows in the stomach, he put his hand on the ghost's skull.
Lug closed his eyes with all his strength until he saw colors, as if this would allow him to gather more energy.
He put his other hand on its head and pushed on, hoping that two hands would have more effect in making the ghost disappear.
After a few seconds, instead of feeling the ghost's weight fade away, he felt a hand grab his neck.
When he opened his eyes he saw that the bald ghost was still there, but this time in addition to the stabbing he was receiving in the stomach, another ghost was trying to strangle him.
Despite the ghost's best efforts, all Lug felt was discomfort in his throat, he had no difficulty breathing.
But In the distance Lug saw many ghosts coming towards him.
His plan had completely failed.
The bald ghost didn't seem to slow down, on the contrary he seemed even faster and more efficient with his knife.
Lug started to panic, he gathered all the strength left in his muscles and pushed the ghosts with all his might.
He managed almost miraculously to get out of there again, these ghosts fortunately did not have much strength.
He quickly retrieved the bucket and the broom that he had left there the day before and left the area.
When he arrived at the door, which he didn't even have time to close, he was taken by a stomach ache so intense that he thought he would faint.
He didn't have time to go to the house.
He had to empty himself, right there, right now.
Without thinking, he emptied some of the water that was in the bucket, pulled down his pants and sat down on the thin metal ledge that had not been made for that purpose.

Fortunately, no one was hanging around Primont.
Lug emptied himself noisily into the bucket, all curled up, his stomach on fire.
He prayed that Hannah would not see him like this.
He returned home with great difficulty an hour later.
He had left the bucket in the shed, emptied and cleaned.
Lug was so exhausted that he was unable to make a fist, even his vision was blurred.
He collapsed on his bed while Gavan stared at him with sadness.
Lug slept for more than 15 hours.
His body, lacking food, had to take refuge in the only thing in which it could still recharge its reserves: sleep.
Lug was in a state of delirium that night.
His memories were mixed up, his desires, his dreams, all that formed a shapeless mass.
All the parts of his brain were working at full speed in spite of his exhaustion.
He saw himself walking, opening the door of his house.
Running with a broom in his hand.
The next moment he was frantically scrubbing a Primont grave.
He could see the ghosts coming towards him and attacking him, but he hardly felt anything.
The impact was no stronger than a mere electric shock.
But after that.
Nothing.
Complete darkness.
The next morning he woke up in a sweat, his broom clutched to him.
He turned his head to the side and saw Gavan looking at him suspiciously.
He put the broom to the side and stood up.
His head was spinning and he felt like he was still as tired as the day before.
"Afffh... My head... And my legs... It hurts all over." said Lug with a groan.
Gavan didn't wait a moment longer to spit out what he was holding back from saying.
"That will teach you! Sick as you are, what an idea to go out in the middle of the night!"
Lug seemed lost for a moment, he turned back to the broom, then began to observe his body.
It was dirty, full of mud.
Yet he had washed himself before going to bed.
He opened his eyes wide and in one leap ran out of the house to Primont's gate and put his head between the bars to see what had changed.
The few graves just outside the neighborhood were clean.
This was no dream.
His body ached and his head was ready to explode.
The light forced him to squint, and the sounds of ghosts, however distant, bothered him.
Despite this he opened the gate in front of him.
And passed only his arm inside the district.
The usual bald ghost approached and with a shrill cry stabbed his knife into Lug's bare arm.
Lug squinted in pain, long before he felt the knife.
His sensitivity due to his migraine had made the scream of this ghost unbearable.
It is in a second time that he felt the sharp pain in his arm.
He extirpated himself with a quick movement.
While moving back, the ghost disappeared from his field of vision.
Lug looked at his arm, the pain was as strong as usual, what had happened differently last night?
"Lug?" a voice called to him and pulled him out of his thoughts.
As he turned around he saw Hannah.
It must have been a week since he had seen her.
She looked worried.
Lug noticed that she was looking him up and down.
When Lug looked down he saw that he was shirtless, his ribs were very visible, his belly was hollowed out, his skin very pale.
It was painful to watch.
He seemed at that moment more dead than alive.
