The entire palace had been quiet. It had always been quiet and Winter was starting to feel lonely. If Arculus wasn't in his office, he would be on earth trying to find out what all the rumours was about.
She wasn't sure but if felt like he was avoiding her. After their last conversation she was expecting Arculus to open up a little bit, but to her surprise he grew even colder. Arculus wasn't rude, however his eyes were intimidating everyone to the point no one dared to look him into the eyes.
A sign left her lips as she played with Trixi, the green dragon loved being in Winter's arms. She was trying to distract herself by playing with the small dragon but it was close to impossible. Her thoughts will drift back to what had happened a couple of days ago. The way he was avoiding the subject, or the way he will stay longer in his office just to not face her. Winter screamed out loud in frustration.
"Damn it." She said as the dragon looked at her in confusion. "Why does he have to make it this complicated." Winter wondered to herself.
Winter sighed and decided to wander around in the kingdom. After months of being here she had never left the kingdom without Arculus by her side. Which she was planning on changing today.
"Let's go Trixi, we have to find a way to sneak out or the guards will join us while they are not even invited." Winter said as she held the green dragon in her arms.
Sneaking out wasn't supposed to be this hard, she used to sneak out of the house back in high school. Winter didn't remember it being hard. After finding a place in the palace with a window where she could jump out off without breaking any parts of her body , she smiled to herself. She let Trixi go first and then she followed shortly. When they were outside she realised that there were too many guards in front of the gate, if she wanted to escape them than she had to distract them or something. But the guards weren't that stupid.
"Trixi I think this is as far as we can go." She told the green dragon defeated. "Unless you don't mind flying." Winter smiled again but didn't want to force Trixi to fly, after all the small dragon was sensitive even if it grew in size.
To Winter's surprise the dragon still grew in size, and winter held on to Trixi. When the dragon started to fly Winter didn't realise how high up they were. Her heart started to beat faster and she was actually scared however she didn't have this much fun in awhile. Demons where everywhere which was not a surprise, however their forms could be indeed scary at times. Winter didn't pay attention to to where they were going, in fact she hasn't been outside to know where actually she was at this point. Winter was already lost so she figured she might as well just continue.
At some point a tree caught Winters eyes, even Trixi had it's eyes fixated on the tree. Without really realising what was happening, Trixi started to fly towards the tree to see it from up close. The leaves were a blue color but that was the only colourful thing about the tree. The small leaves were falling off the tree but it seemed as if it was making a trail for her. So Winter being her curious self she followed the trail, taking her to whatever place it wanted her to be. A shiver went down her spine as she had laid her eyes on creatures she had never seen before.

Trixi shrink in size and flew in Winters arms, something the dragon did when it was scared. The creatures at this point had their eyes fixated on the human that also happened to be the Queen of the underworld. It was quiet and Winter wasn't sure if she had to run or just keep on staring at the human like creatures that at the same time resembled Fishes.
"Euh Hi?" Winter said unsure if they could actually understand her.
No one said anything back, but one of the creatures approached her. Winter figured it would be their leader. "Your majesty, what brings you here?" The creature said as it and everyone else bowed down for her.
"I- Euh you don't have to bow down to me." Winter laughed and offered them a smile. "And I was just curious, it felt like the tree was calling me." Winter admitted and wondered how she was actually supposed to get back home.
"That's understandable, you're free to wander around. However since you're human I'll suggest you to not touch the small animals that can be found here, they may have poison that is harmful for humans." The creature said and Winter simply nodded her head.
"I will be careful, thank you for letting me wander round." Winter said politely walking around the place mesmerised.
She wasn't sure why she was doing this. But walking around did in fact calm her down, the entire situation with Arculus suddenly did not seem like a big of a deal. However somewhere deep inside she was still annoyed or disappointed. Winter pushed her thoughts in the back of her head and decided to focus on what was happening in front of her.
Nature has always been something beautiful. Even back on earth she would be amazed and mesmerised by most things nature brought. However she was aware that it can also be destructive. But earth and the underworld weren't quit the same. The grass that was supposed to be green was still green however it was lifeless. The colour in the entire place looked so lifeless, but even lifeless things had beauty to offer. The flowers were almost dying and small little creatures were walking around carrying shiny rocks. Those rocks looked so beautiful that she almost touched it, in the process disturbing the small creatures.
"Hey hello hi." The small creature spoke.
They looked like bunnies with grey fur that were able to walk.
"Not to be rude, certainly not trying it be rude. However don't do that again please." The small creature spoke and Winter's eyes had widened. She had never seen bunnies speak before.
"We aren't bunnies." An other creature spoke clearly irritated.
"I'm sorry I was thinking that way ab- wait." She stopped mid sentence as she looked at the small creatures.
"Yes we can read your mind." An other creature said annoyed as it rolled their eyes.
Before Winter could say anything back the smallest of the group of unknown creatures jumped in Winter's arms. Winter stumbled back a bit and fall on her butt. Which of course had made Trixi let out a growl, it wasn't something Trixi was too happy about. Winter was too shocked to be able to bring something out. Even if they weren't bunnies, they for sure looked like it.
"Qwirs we are Qwirs." The creature in her arms spoke. "And we all have names too." It giggled softly and looked Winter in the eyes.
Winter looked at the cute little Qwir in her arms and had wanted to smile, however she started sneezing like crazy and ended up making the small creature jump out of her arms. The sneezing only got a lot worse and her arm was turning a grey colour, which was very weird since her brown skin had always been flawless. As she was trying to hold in her sneezing she felt the need to suddenly scratch her arm. In fact her entire arm was slowly becoming irritated and small little red pimples appeared. Scratching would only make it worse so she tried her best to not do anything she might regret.

The small dragon suddenly became worried and grew in size, having one single motive in mind and that was to protect Winter against the creatures that at first seemed harmless. Before Trixi could even attack any of the creatures everything became quiet. The Qwirs were suddenly not making any noises anymore. They were first blaming Winter for disturbing their peace which of course Winter didn't mind however calling Trixi names was in Winter's eyes rude. The poor dragon was already shy enough yet it still decided to stand between her and the Qwirs. Yet that wasn't the reason why everything was quiet and Winter knew that. The presence she was feeling that came from behind her was very intimidating to the point where the Qwirs were all lined up standing next to each other with their heads hung low.
"Is this how you treat your Queen?" Winter didn't turn around to face whoever stood behind her. She didn't feel the need to do that because she already knew. The voice that seemed to terrify any living being sounded angry.
"Well no king Arculus w-we were just playing around." One of the creatures spoke up however Trixi let out a growl clearly disagreeing with them.
Arculus chuckled humourless as his eyes were glowing. "I'm quite entertained, but don't lie to my face if you don't want me to feed you to other dragons." The small creatures nodded and quickly ran away.
Winter was quiet, she was not saying a word. All she could hear was Arculus footsteps getting closer and closer to her. Arculus placed his hands on the dragon and started petting it. "You have been good today haven't you?" He smiled to Trixi and the green dragon was enjoying it, after all she was getting praised by the king.
"You can fly home Trixi I'll take it from here." Arculus ordered and it was clear that the green dragon was hesitating. Winter gave the dragon a reassuring smile which was enough to convince the dragon to leave.
It was very quiet again, and of course Winter didn't like it but she didn't do anything about it. She simply stood up from the ground and noticed the the itching was going away, and her skin went back to being normal. "Do you mind explaining what you are doing here?" He asked her with raised eyebrows.
"I was bored." She said simply slowly getting irritated.
"So your boredom drove you to sneak out of the house, fly away with your pet Dragon and end up in a sacred realm where you aren't supposed to be only for you to later on get an allergic reaction?" Arculus asked her unsure what he was supposed to think about the situation.
"Yes you got that right forest boy." She answered with ease, and without fear.
"Forest boy huh? Are you angry at me snowflake?" He asked while already knowing the answer, but he just wanted to hear her say it.
Winter laughed as she finally looked him into his eyes. "I'm not angry, I'm just disappointed and a little irritated at the same time." She said as she looked around. Doing her best to avoid eye contact.
"Do you know how I knew you were here?" Arculus asked her out of the blue.
Winter was taken back by the question but she shook her head. "No, I don't know."
"Whatever you feel, I feel it too." Arculus said simply, his hands in the pockets of his black suit.
"So you knew what I was feeling for the past weeks and yet you didn't even bother to ask me what was wrong? Instead you avoid me for god knows what reason." She said angry as she crossed her arms. "You need to practice what you preach Arculus. You can't get mad at me about something for you to just do the exact same thing." Winter spoke with frustration written all over her face.
Arculus didn't reply to her question. He just pulled Winter close to them to be able to teleport both of them back to the palace. When they teleported back to the palace Winter found herself looking around. They were both in their bedroom. She expected him to say something but instead he just started undressing. Winter rolled her eyes as she turned away from him.
"There are times that I forget that you are human." Arculus said as he made sure Winter was indeed facing him. "Why are you not looking at me snowflake?" He asked amused.
"You're changing the subject." Winter said irritated as she ignored the fact that Arculus was almost completely naked.
"You want me to warm up and tell you what is going on inside of my head right? You want to know why I have been acting a certain way am I correct?" He asked her and she simply nodded her head. Winter held her breath in as Arculus was standing inches away from her. He could hear her heartbeat suddenly going faster and he couldn't help the smile plastered on his face.
"Did you ever wonder why I'm the only demon that drinks blood like a vampire?" He asked her completely serious realising that she had never asked him why and he never explained how his body worked.
"I have no idea I just thought that most demons drank blood." She said calmly as she thought about the question that was being asked.
"Vampires are old creatures but the oldest vampire to walk this earth was my mother. She gave power to the humans that were begging for it and decades later, there are creatures that can't survive without drinking blood. If you think about it like that demons and vampires are both evil creatures right?" Arculus asked her curious about what she was going to say. He was already disliked by most creatures yet he was scared to also be disliked by Winter. After all she was the only person that he did not want to disappoint, so hearing her say that she was indeed upset and disappointed by him made his heart ache.
"I wouldn't say bad, more like misunderstood." Winter smiled to herself as she thought back about the kids and Lazarus. They were all vampires but that didn't make them evil. "You think you're an evil creature?" She wonder out loud and this time around it was Arculus who made sure not to look her into the eyes.
"I'm not sure am I? I'm not human Winter, I don't feel things the way your kind does. I'm a demon that can be incapable of feeling certain emotions. So yes I guess your right I have changed and I'm not the same as I was back on earth. But I still love you, I always have." He spoke sincerely and it made Winter's heart skip a beat.
"I don't mind if you change. We all change at some point, however I can't stand it when you ignore me. I will always accept you for who you are Arculus please don't forget that." She smiled after reassuring him.
Arculus smiled to the human, he pulled her closer to him and placed kisses on her neck. His hand gently zipped the dress down Winter had been wearing. They both watched how it fell on the ground.
"I'm pretty sure Lazarus said no baby making." Winter said amused as Arculus picked her up.
"Yeah under his roof but last time I checked we owned this palace." Arculus retorted back as she gently placed her on the bed.
Winter laughed at Arculus words and just hoped that they won't make too much noise.

8 50An epic of Feelings, Order and Cheaters
A world where magic is not controlled by mages and sorcerers, but instead woven into every day life, lending it's power to those who have a Will stronger than reality. Orcs, pushed into banishment to a land far too small for their people, Dwarves who sing to bring down walls, and Humans who stand against immensily more powerful enemies through the power of lying and decieving.
8 159The Goddess of Death's Champion
Eliot and Cel start off the same as any other peasant and climb their way to the heavens. At least, that's what a cheesy hook might say, however, Eliot and Cel have always had the attention of the Gods, Eliot longer than Cel but by no God more important. Even if it is their destiny to achieve legend status, they started out some where, and with only the semblance of a head start, not to mention that it makes for an interesting story. (If you decided to read because of a specific tag, some of them only show up later on in the story. I should also mention that romance is a significant focus but there is no romance tag besides the one in genre)
8 162I, Mor-eldal: The Necromancer Thief
As a budding little necromancer, I soon discovered that the world of city people is complicated. When my master kicked me out of the cave, he warned me not to talk about my “dark” magic, because people here don't like the undead. I am not really an undead, I just have a skeleton hand, but it is better to be careful. Anyway, that's not my biggest worry. In the Black Dagger brotherhood, I learn a lot of things, such as illusionist magic, which turns out to be quite handy to survive in this maze of streets: in the Cat Quarter, we have thugs of all kinds that are best avoided. But we also have good people, goodhearted “gwaks”, as we say around here. Little did I know that I would soon be caught up in an infamous traffic that would entangle my life even more. With a mix of lighthearted adventure and picaresque, this story narrates the hectic life of a good-spirited street child and his companions in a medieval urban fantasy setting with some nineteenth-century influences. Updates Mondays and Fridays. This is a Creative Commons By work. It is a translation of a trilogy I wrote in Spanish between 2017 and 2018.
