《BLOODTHIRSTY》49. Summoning a god

Small diamonds fall out of the sky, hitting the ground and breaking into small pieces. Winter felt like it was winter but the entire kingdom was covered in blue instead of white snow. She looked out of the window in amazement since she had never seen such thing before. It seemed as if birds were flying around but the birds looked more like flying crocodiles than actual birds.
Winter couldn't keep her emotions in check. She wasn't sure why she felt like going outside and stepping on the broken diamonds bare foot. So when she rushed out of the palace she could feel something holding her back. A hand grabbing her wrist, however she couldn't see anyone behind her. She didn't see the person that was trying to keep her inside.
"I thought I told you to leave me alone." She spoke up annoyed, raising her voice which was unusual for her to do.
"It's not you speaking your majesty, the diamond can have an negative effect on people that are not supposed to be here." The shadow said grabbing her arm with more force.
"Let me go." She said this time angry.
Some way or an other Winter freed herself from its grip. Running towards the diamonds but she suddenly felt like she was floating in the air.
"Put me back on the ground." She said as she was fighting something she couldn't even see with her eyes.
The shadow chuckled softly, placing his hand on her eyes. Putting a protection spell because her human mind was not able to notice the small details that were important. There wasn't just small broken diamonds on the foor, there was glass everywhere.
Winter opened her eyes looking at the ground just to see glass shattered everywhere. "What happened?" She asked confused.
"That my Queen is what you humans call being brains washed, and there are many more here in the underworld." The shadow said softly and Winter was confused.
"Why did you help me?" She wondered unsure.
"Because you're my Queen, and I was only created to protect you." The voice said gently as she could feel its hands on her cheeks.
Arculus appeared out of nowhere, and the shadow went back to keeping its distant with Winter. It took Arculus a couple of minutes to understand what actually went down. He pulled Winter towards him and checked to see if she had any wounds.
"The shadow was with you am I correct?" Arculus asked carefully.
"Yeah, yeah it's was." She whispered still progressing what the shadow had said. "It said it was created to protect me." She whispered softly.
Arculus nodded his head in understanding, however he didn't understand what was happening at all. Why would a creature that has been In this palace for a long time only be created for Winter. She wasn't even born, her existence wasn't even known. Arculus wasn't born either, so he was confused to why a creature would be created long before either of them was even out of the womb.
Arculus opened his mouth to say something but he slowly closed it. The voices he was hearing was starting to irritate him. He never said a word about the fact he could hear voices talking as if it was directed towards him. He never said anything about the fact that he can sometimes see the people that are supposed to be talking to him. Arculus shrugged it off like he has done many times. He gently grabbed Winter's arm and walked away.

"Zel." He shouted out loud as he walked to his office with Winter right besides him.
He sat down while Zell suddenly appeared out of thin air. Arculus more irritated than usually and his eyes red and glowing, indicating that he indeed was slowly losing his temper.
"Those damned voices." He whispered to himself in annoyance. Holding the curse words in that wanted to escape his mouth.
"You're hearing voices?" Zell asked surprised.
Arculus held the bridge of his nose trying to calm himself down but he was only getting more irritated. "Yes I am." He answered shortly.
"What are they saying?" Zell asked curious, wanting to know more.
"Prayers." Arculus said lowly his inner demon almost coming out. Winter wasn't sure what was happening but she could feel it too. The energy in the air changed. Something more sinister was about to come out and she could feel it. Her heart beat started beating faster than normal. Winter had never seen Arculus lose his temper. Of course here and there he would snap more often and get angry but that wasn't what she would call 'losing control'. No because when he actually gets angry she could feel it in her bones, a way of telling her that she needs to calm him down. Yet she thought that he should be able to calm himself down.
Yet Winter being Winter still walked up to him. Placed her soft hands on his head. Slowly growing through his hair like she had before when he will finally fall asleep in her arms. His eyes would soften and his heartbeat would start beating. Winter figure out that Arculus never has a heartbeat unless he was around her. And that alone made her feel like the most special person to exist.
"Are you okay?" She asked with worry in her eyes.
"I'm fine." He lied to her knowing that he was in fact not doing okay but he did not want to worry her.
"You're being prayed to?" Zell asked in surprised. "Humans are praying to you?"
"Yes they are and I'll like to know why, I do not remember asking for this." He said annoyed as he stood up from his seat.
"Did you forget that you are a god?" Zell asked him with raised eyebrows. "The king of the underworld, stronger than a thousand men combined. The question isn't not why they are praying to you, it's why haven't you answered them yet?" Zell asked carefully, not wanting to have a sword sticking out of his chest.
"Answer them? What you want me to do go talk to a bunch of pathetic humans? Have you heard the things they have been asking me?" Arculus asked offended, he wasn't thinking highly of himself. Most humans weren't worth his time and that was a fact.
"They aren't that bad." Winter said as she laughed. Finding it really funny how Arculus was speaking about her kind. She wasn't offended because some really weren't that nice.
"No you aren't that bad, I have no idea what went wrong with the rest of your kind." Arculus spoke as he pushed Winter on to his lap. Pulling her close so he could hear her heartbeat more clear.
Arculus shut his eyes closed when he heard the loudest thunder coming out of the sky followed by voices. Whispers and than he heard singing in more than two languages. Arculus opened his eyes irritated, in fact he was furious. He slowly stood up with Winter in his arms.

"I'll be back I just have to pay someone a small visit." He said and Winter nodded her head in understanding.
"Guards get ready." Zell informed some of his men to accompany the king of the underworld however Arculus declined.
"I'll go on my own." The last words that Arculus said before he let his wings free.
Already angry that an unknown source was communicating with Winter. But on top of that he had to hear some pathetic humans pray to him as if he was actually planning on listening. His ears were ringing and it made Arculus want to punch everything in his sight. He had been following the sound, and he ended up in an old looking house. If it wasn't already night time maybe he would be able to call it beautiful but the house looked like it straight up came out of a horror movie, and inside it seemed as if someone hasn't been living here at all.
Arculus teleported himself in the room were he could hear chanting and screams. The screams stopped as soon as he stepped inside of the room. The human man was looking at him in amazement. As if he was a well known celebrity. Arculus couldn't even bring himself to look at the human for longer. It disgusted him on how they were trying to make him do things for them.
The king of the underworld had red glowing eyes. Observing the human as if it was a prey and he was the lion. "You think you're worth my time?" Arculus asked with raised eyebrows.
The man fall on his knees when he Arculus spoke. His greatness was too much for a mere human to handle. "W-We need your help." The man spoke up but Arrculus never intended to listen.
"I do not care. Reach out to me again and I'll hang your head on one of the trees outside." Arculus said and let his wings free again ready to fly away yet the symbols on the wall made him stay. The same symbols he had noticed in his own palace was to be seen in a mediocre looking house.
"Where did you get this from." Arculus asked curious and the man chuckled.
"I finally got your attention?" The man spoke with pride as if he accomplished something.
Arculus grabbed the man by the throat. "When I ask something you answer. Do I look like your human friends?" He asked angry.
"I-it's from the ancient times. The prophecy tells us that after a time of war a knew god will rise up." The man spoke and Arculus let go of his throat.
"A new god?" Arculus asked as he watched the man that had been laying on the floor. "I have always been a god. I do not need to rise up. So who is this so called 'god' you are referring to?" Arculus asked with his arms crossed. Deep in thoughts because he was sure it wasn't about him.
The man tried standing up and kneeling down in front of the king of the underworld. His eyes never reaching Arculus like it was supposed to be since the beginning. The demon smiled to himself thinking back to what Zell has told him and what Winter had wanted for him to do. However how can a human know more about the ancient times than Zell.
"It was written that the kings of men kind will be seen as failures, and that only one king and one god will rule over everything." The man explained in one breath.
"Where did you get that information?" Arculus had asked him and the man had handed him a scroll.
A white scroll with weird writings, that was written in an other language but even if he had never seen it before. He knew exactly what was written on there. It was the same with what the man had explained but more in depth. Arculus realised that if that was the case than there was a war coming. An other war far worse than the previous one. A war between men-kind but also supernatural beings. He let out a deep sigh because this was not something he wanted to put his energy in.
Arculus took the scroll with him when he walked out of that house. Too lazy to use his wings so he teleported himself back home. The palace was as quiet as ever. The demons were too busy with training the knew animals that in the kingdom. Amon had a great idea and had wanted to use animals on the battlefield or to make sure not a single soul makes it way in the underworld uninvited.
A faint sound was coming from the table where he always held his meetings with his commanders. The faint sound changed into laughter the closer he got to the room. He already knew to who it belonged to. His heart had warmed up yet he kept himself from smiling. Arculus knew he had changed, and it was only with time that his beloved bride will point it out.
She was sitting in the room with one of the small pets the palace owned. It was a small dragon big enough to fit into her arms. The green pet had been trying to get Winter to pet it but she was hiding her arms behind her back. Winter let out another laugh when the pet was slowly turning red in colour. Indicating that it was slowly getting irritated or angry.
"Fine, I'll pet you as long as you do not go missing again." Winter said with a wide smile on her face as she took the small dragon in her hand.
Arculus just sat there silently and watched the way Winter was enjoying her quality time with her pet dragon.
"Are you just going to stand there and watch me?" She asked with raised eyebrows. "That's a little weird don't you think?" She asked him as she looked up. Meeting his eyes that glowed like fire.
"I like watching you." He said simply as he sat down not so far from her.
"In human terms we call that creepy." She told him amused expecting him to at least ease up or just show her his little side smile he often did when he didn't want to smile wide. Yet his face was expressionless.
"Aren't you tired?" He asked her with concern hidden in his voice.
Winter shook her head as she paid more attention to her pet named Trixi. "I'm not tired, are you?" She wondered as she stood up from her seat.
"Trixi." Arculus called out to the pet and it already knew that it had to leave the room.
The room was quiet Winter was not saying a word and Arculus just watched her. His eyes glued on Winter. Never looking away or averting his gaze. She sighed as she was planning on leaving the room but in a blink of an eye Arculus stood in front of her hovering above her figure. His fangs out and his eyes were glowing like fire.
Winter has always loved the season winter and the element fire. She felt like it was something that went well with each other. It reminded her of how she would spend her winter with her mother and brother. They would through snowballs at each other and Wednesday was the day where her mother always baked cakes. Winter had loved to eat the cakes her mother made with a glass of milk right next to her while she was watching the camp fire on tv. Pretending to be one of those kids that actually did activities outside of school.
However the camp fires that she had seen on tv couldn't compare to his eyes. Winter could feel goosebumps appearing on her arms. A shiver going down her spine as she stared right into his eyes. She felt as if she couldn't move, glued on the ground.
"I don't like it when you use your powers on me." She told him and the grin on Arculus face told her that he was indeed enjoying this.
"That's just your body reacting to me, I haven't done anything." He said as he approached her. Placing a kiss on her lips.
"You haven't been yourself." She told him as he placed an other kiss on her exposed shoulder.
He pretended not to hear anything she was saying. He pretended as if he was too busy kissing her than actually listening. However he just couldn't find the right words. How did he explain to someone that the person they were once in love with wasn't really them? How does he explain that he had changed?

Magic-Farming
A thought experiment gone out of control, inspired by kosnik4's popular story, Magic-Smithing. What would life be like for someone else who was transported to the world inside Magic-Smithing? Someone who wasn't as prone to encounter incresasingly dangerous people, whose life was a little less chaotic? What if this person was content with a simple life of farming? Tending to the plants, sowing seeds, and reaping a great harvest at the end of the year. Of course, he's also a data scientist, so he can't help but squeeze out the maximum possible efficiency of his time and the potential of his attributes. Who doesn't make excel spreadsheets in their spare time? This is a slightly more "Slice of Life" esque version of kosnik4's story. Hopefully lighthearted, funny, and as enjoyable to read as it is thinking of increasingly ridiculous skill progressions. Thanks to kosnik4 and Magic-Smithing for providing fertile grounds for creativity to thrive. NOTE: THIS IS A FAN FICTION, AND ALL INTELLECTUAL RIGHTS BELONG TO KOSNIK4. I'm a patron of his story, and love reading about what happens next in his story. I've tried my best to be as accurate to his canon science as possible, though it's not 100% feasible. Afterall, the story isn't even done yet! My plan for the releases is to release a single chapter a day until 3/7, and then release 4 chapters a week on M, W, F, & Sat. P.S. If anyone can figure out what the EXACT formula for Level XP is, I'd love to hear it. I'm starting to doubt my math and excel capabilities. I have an equation that is fairly accurate and stays close to his values, but not exactly the same.
