《BLOODTHIRSTY》46. Your highness

Winter was getting ready for the family dinner. Picking out which clothes to wear. Choosing between dresses or just going for something more basic. Instead of hurrying up and getting ready because she knew everyone was waiting for her she found herself being stuck in front of the mirror. Staring at her naked body, yet it was the scar on her naked body that had made her heart ach. Her heart that wasn't supposed to be beating in the first place.
There were times where she would wake up with tears in her eyes, and her body trembling. Even when this happened she always pushed her throughs in the back of her mind. Perhaps if she never thought about it, than it never happened. But the scar was a proof of the truth she was to afraid to believe in.
"Winter are you almost done?" Atalia asked, her sweet voice bringing Winter back to reality.
"Yeah I'll be there in a minute." Winter shouted back while dressing herself.
The restaurant Lazarus had picked was a 5 star restaurant. Winter raised her eyebrows when her eyes landed on the menu. Everything was so expensive which was expected but she never understood where he even got the money from.
Despite the prices being out of Winter's budget, dinner went on as planned. Everyone was there and she even met her brother's girlfriend named Krista. Apparently she was not the only human that went for a supernatural being. Winter found out that Krista is a werewolf. She wasn't so surprised since this was Gio they were talking about. But she had to admit she did not see this coming.
After dinner they went back home. However she couldn't shake the feeling of being watched. Even at the restaurant or while she was sitting in the living room watching tv with Lazarus and the twins. Winter looked around her to maybe catch something out of the ordinary. Yet there was nothing there, nothing out of place.
"Guys..." Winter called out to catch everyone else attention.
"I think someone is watching us." She whispered while standing up and walking towards Lazarus.
"Watching us?" Rohan asked confused.
"I would be able to tell." Rohan Retorted back but Winter kept looking around her not believing Rohan.
"She is right." Lazarus stated will pulling Winter towards him. "I have been picking up a weird scent, it has been following us since the restaurant." Lazarus stated as he made sure Winter was hiding behind him.
"And you are only telling us this now because?" Rogan asked slightly annoyed.
"Because when you lose controle you're worse than your brother that has anger issues, I'm not trying to deal with the both of you as the same time." Lazarus said while he glanced around the room.
"I don't have anger issues." Rohan defended himself.
"True anger issues got you." Rogan retorted back and the bickering that followed made Winter's head hurt.
"Seriously not the time." Lazarus told the twins sternly which made them shut up.
What was going on to her was not clear, however her eyes widened when she laid her eyes on a monster that did not have any eyes. His eyes sockets were completely empty and it looked like his mouth was sewed together. The being was tall and skinny, and had long fingers that could really easily rip your heart out.
As much as she was horrified she could not bring herself to scream. The words got suck in her mouth and all she could do was have her eyes glued on the monster. Yet the more she looked at it the more she felt guilty of even being afraid. Not everyone was born with an socially acceptable face.

"I-I'm sorry for startling you your highness." The being spoke also scared and fumbled with its hand.
"Euh it's okay no worries I'm okay." Winter whispered while she did not remove her eyes from the being.
"Highness? As in Winter? Why are you here?" Rohan asked slightly annoyed, but more with himself. He did not catch the scent immediately. If it was someone an other being, she would be in danger.
"I-I was sent by the king to look over the Queen. He will be angry if he found out I did not do my job right, please don't tell him." The creature said terrified while biting its nails.
"Oh I'm sure Arculus wouldn't mind." She tried to tell the being but her words were not reach the creature. Which was confusing and scary. Arculus was not the time to hold grudges or harm someone for something they did not have in control.
"N-no no I didn't say anything, please don't tell him anything I'm begging." The creature spoke up again and Rohan was irritated.
"If you had eyes and not empty eye sockets, I would tell you to Read The Room!" Rohan said while he glanced at Winter. "You are making her scared you shit hole." Rohan cursed but Winter laughed at the choice of curse words.
"You Euh can go back." She said unsure. "If Arculus has issues he can handle them with me?" Winter tried to sound more convincing but she couldn't understand why the being was so scared of Arculus.
"O-okay your highness, and thank you." The being said before disappearing.
"You have to visit Arculus Beloved, sounds like someone is salty." Lazarus answered but she felt like it was more than just being salty. The being looked to be so terrified.
"I was planning too either way. I just wanted to see my friends for the last time." She said but knew that had to wait.
"Listen Winter Arculus is not the type of person to get angry very easily, but if the being is so scared of him don't you think there is a reason behind it? I think you should go where he is as soon as possible." Lazarus suggested and she nodded her head while walking away.
As she arrived in her room she took a deep breath. Scratching her head and trying to calm her nervous. It has been 3 years already. She haven't seen him in person. She knew that he was not the same as 3 years ago. Her heart beat sped up as she thought about how everything was indeed different. Winter took a deep breath again.
"Arculus." She called out to him yet nothing happened.
She took a deep breath again. "Arculus?" She called again yet he didn't appear out of no where like he usually does.
Winter brushed it off and took a shower. Getting ready to go to bed, since tomorrow would be a long day. She walked out of the bathroom room and almost dropped her towel. Arculus was looking out of the window with his arms crossed. He slowly turned around and just stared at her. Not a word escaped his mouth.
"I-I thought you euh weren't going to show up." Winter said as she watched the way he sat down on her bed.
The sound of his laugher filled in the room, making Winter nervous. "That's quite insulting Snowflake. I told you to call out to me and I'll show up or did I not say that?" He asked her with raised eyebrows.

"I- Euh yeah you did say that." Winter said as she looked at everything but not him.
"I'll let you get dressed I'll be right back." Arculus vanished and she was alone again.
Winter had finished dressing herself. She decided to go downstairs to get a glass of water. The house was extremely quiet. Apart from the Twins bickering. It seemed as if there was never an end. Winter smiled to herself when she saw the twins almost fighting each other. She ignored the twins and walked towards the kitchen. She filled the glass with water and drank from it. Feeling herself relax, water was so refreshing
Her breathing became irregular when she felt someone behind her. She did not have to turn around to know who it was. He placed his face in her neck and took a deep breath. "Why are you so nervous snowflake?" He asked amused.
Winter turned around and he was inches away from her face. "Tell me Winter, what got your heart beating so fast?" He asked as he laughed at the human.
"Can you stop teasing me?" She asked him slightly annoyed but she still smiled at him.
"I can always try." He said and kissed her on the forehead.
"You have plans tomorrow?" Arculus asked her and she shook her head.
"No, I was just planning on helping Lazarus pack everything in the house. But since they have supper speed I don't think they need my help much." Winter said smiling and Arculus nodded his head understanding.
"How about I give you a tour of the underworld?" He asked me as he caressed her cheeks.
"You mean now?" She asked unsure and he nodded his head.
"I mean yeah sure." Winter replied and hurried to her room to wear something else besides her pyjama.
When she got back downstairs she couldn't find him anywhere. However when she looked out the window she saw Arculus with his wings. Winter wasn't sure she had ever seen his wings. She was so mesmerised that she rushed outside and her eyes widened.
"Wow." Was all she could bring out.
Arculus smiled and grabbed the human. Picked her up and made sure she held on to him tightly before flying away. The trip was a short one, which confused Winter. She thought she would have to go through the most weird looking places. Yet here they were standing in front of a gate where there were the same beings she had soon not long ago.
The beings that she figured out were supposed to be demons kneeled down for them. Winter was taken back by the action that she started stuttering. Arculus just pushed her gently as a sign to just keep on walking. She expected the underworld to be a place were death humans were suffering, a place were people were being tortured. A place were screams were so loud that it was unbearable. Yet she could see a demon with a happy birthday hat on. She smiled amused followed Arculus.
The sky was a dark blue colour but it could turn into a red colour too. The demons were all looking at her with wondering eyes, probably wondering what a human was doing there. She visited a lot places. The place were demons trained themselves, she saw where most animals were being kept. Not animals like dogs or cat, no she actually saw dogs with three heads running around and being extremely happy that Arculus had returned.
Arculus finally showed her the palace. Winter had never been as amazed as she was now. It wasn't your typical white palace decorated in gold, no it was completely black from the outside. She could see a huge door completely coated in gold. She was even too scared to touch it. The inside of the palace was beautiful too but she knew that Arculus did not show her everything. There was one place that he did not show her that haunted her dreams.
"Where is Zel and Horicks?" She asked him curious.
"Zel had some business on earth that needed to take care of, and Horicks is supposed to be around here but sometimes he just goes away for weeks without my permission." Arculus explained to her and she smiled.
"Yeah that does sound like something he would do." She laughed and walked off on her own without paying too much attention to her surroundings. Which caused her to walk into someone. The woman had purple eyes and had short brown hair.
"Wow you're gorgeous." Winter complimented the woman.
Mezic was surprised but smiled. "Thank you your highness." She kneeled down for Winter which made Winter panic.
"Wait no Euh It's just Winter, no need to kneel down." Winter tried to make the she demon stand up yet Mezic could not do that. It was a sign of disrespect.
"You can stand up Mezic." Arculus gave her permission and she stood up.
"Is Horicks around here? I'm getting seriously irritated with him." Arculus had his hands buried in his pockets, and Winter never realised that he had been wearing a suit.
"He came back when you had left your highness." Mezic answered politely.
"Okay thank you." Arculus told her simple and he walked away.
Winter waved to the woman and followed Arculus to wherever they were going. "Horicks I swear if I find you hiding in my office I'll hurt you." Arculus screamed loudly and he appeared right away.
Winter couldn't help herself but to feel really excited to see him. She jumped into his arms happily and Horicks was taken back. "Well look who we have here, was not expecting to see you human. If I did I would have looked more presentable." He told her while smiling.
"Really?" She asked him surprised and Horicks laughed.
"Well of course not, but I'm glad you're okay." He told her genuinely.
When Winter thought everything was okay, they started bickering back and forth. Perhaps not smart but she took this as her cue to explore the palace on her own. The hallways were empty and dark, she couldn't see much but she knew that she was being watched. The demons she figured were guards stood in front a door and Winter was so curious to what was behind it that she walked up to them.
"H-" Winter wanted to greet them yet they again kneeled down for her and she could feel herself panic again.
"Oh my I'm just Winter, no need to kneel down for me. In fact I would appreciate it if you both stood up." She rambled on but the guards stood up.
"Yes your highness." The guards answered in union and Winter was shocked.
"Wait no, just call me Winter. I would appreciate that." She said in all honesty but the guards eyed each other and looked back at her.
"Sorry your highness I don't think the king would like that." One of the guards answered but she surged it off.
"Well Arculus doesn't like many things. So it's okay really." She answered but the guard were still skeptical.
The guards went out of the way and let her enter the room. Winter wasn't expecting them to just let her walk in, but when she did she realised it was a room. The dog or dogs were sitting on the bed watching her with glowing eyes. She wasn't sure if she was supposed to run away or not but she just watched the dog with two heads, not wanting to show her fear. The dog looked like the other one she had seen earlier today, but the ones in front of her seemed to be two or three times bigger. She sat on the bed right next to the dog and placed her hand on top of it.
"You know I was expecting you to attack me or something, but this outcome is nice too." Winter spoke up while laughing and the dog barked at her as if she had offended it.
Arculus suddenly appeared out of nowhere while he held the bridge of his nose. "I really like your hair. A buzz cut suits you. The new lip piercings are cute too but I thought you said it was more a Horicks thing." Winter rambled on again while petting the animal.
"I know right, he always complaining about me for no reason." Horicks complained.
"Horicks get the fuck out of my room." Arculus said annoyed, and Horicks was no where to be spotted again.
"Winter you can't just pet him, he is not like most dogs. He is a hellhound for a reason." Arculus warned her about the dog, but the dogs was barking at Arculus instead.
"I don't think he agrees Arculus." Winter said laughing.
Arculus glared at the dog and it ran away. "When do you want to move in?" He asked her curious.
"Tomorrow." She said as she got more comfortable on his bed.
"Tomorrow?" He asked surprised.
"Yes forest boy, tomorrow." She said as her heartbeat slowed down. Indicating that she was falling asleep.
"So you're just going to fall asleep on my bed Snowflake?" He asked as he caressed her cheeks.
"I thought it would be our bed soon." Winter spoke up while she slowly drifted away.
Arculus smiled to himself as he watched the way she fall asleep. Not forgetting that he had almost lost her.

8 150The Reborn Runesmith
We have all read stories about the reincarnated or portaled earthling going to the fantasy world and gaining a cheat and super abilities. This isn't one of those. The hero or villian here is just a smart guy who only gets to choose a few things like what he is and then given the ability to have mana. He doesn't even get to choose what kind of mana he gets it could be fire, water, air, etc. This world is different than ours. Gunpowder, medicines, and other things will probably not work or be availible. Who is to say that the beings of this new world will even have the same internal anatomy. These are all things our MC will have to discover. Just like our world you can be born with great genetics but if you are a lazy and undriven person nothing will come of it. This is my first attempt to write. There WILL be mistakes. I am a mathmatician not an english major so be prepared for questionable grammer and spellings. One of these days if I enjoy doing this I will get me an editor who did english instead of math and science.

Evan said, upon being asked where to find sweet limes.
