《BLOODTHIRSTY》45. Loved ones and her

School had been the only thing on her mind. Occasionally Arculus would telepathically speak to her, but if he wasn't school was the only thing on her mind. She worked so hard to not fail any classes and she succeeded. After 3 years she finally graduated and was preparing to go back home. However she over heard Lazarus talking about them moving away. In those 3 years not much had changed, the house had been completely the same but than again she had not be around that often to be able to tell the difference.
Even after her father's murders got caught some years back she still did not move out of Lazarus house. Her mother had moved away and her brother started his life with the girl of his dreams. Yet she was not able to move on, after all of those events she had found it extremely hard to let go of the people she loved. She knew that soon enough she will be moving out and starting a new life with Arculus. As stupid as this may sound she was indeed ready, she was just scared of changes. She had always been scared of changes.
That is why she wanted to finish her studies because deep down she wasn't ready to go yet. Also the reason why she did not move away with her mother instead. But Winter knew that she had to let it go, and perhaps today was the day. When she finally stepped inside of the house were so much has happend it made her feel some type of way. The house was extremely quiet which was weird.
Her eyes landed on Lazarus watching tv with his glasses on and a cup of coffee right next to him. Winter smiled when she realised he was still in his pyjamas. She ran into his arms which resolved into Lazarus almost losing his balance.
"Beloved I did not expect you to come home so early." Lazarus said taken back but still glad that she had finally returned home.
"I was planning on calling but I wanted to surprise you instead. But Euh...where are the kids?" She asked with raised eyebrows.
Lazarus took sip of his coffee. "I enrolled the kids in school. I got tired of them." He admitted out loud while laughing. Winter couldn't help it and laughed with him.
"When the kids get home I'm planning on visiting the neighbourhood we would be moving into, would you like to come?" He asked her and she nodded her head while smiling.
A few hours later Lazarus already went out since he had gotten a call that seemed urgent. Winter decided to go to their school yet she did not find anyone. Apparently the youngest already went home according to Rogan. Winter was confused to how they were done so fast, but than she remembered that those were not ordinary kids. Winter hadn't seen the kids in a while so she was speechless when she had seen The twins towering above her.
"I'm honestly speechless, you two have grown so much. I-I'm getting emotional." Winter said while laughing. The twins hugged her not expecting her to be here.
"You're really crying." Rohan said surprised. Winter had not realised she was indeed crying.

"Oh sorry let's go to wherever Lazarus is." Winter said happily.
"How long are you planning on staying?" Rogan asked curious.
"I'm not sure, I had wanted to spend some time with everyone before going to Arculus." She said unsure of what decision to make.
"Going to Arculus as in going to the underworld?" Rohan asked her and she nodded her head.
"Yeah I'm kind of nervous, I mean how different can it be right?" Winter asked the twins and Rogan found himself laughing.
"Not to stress you out more, but it will be completely different." Rogan said while wrapping his arm around Winter.
"Well Don't worry about that yet." Rohan tried to lift her mood up. Winter smiled up to him and paid more attention to the road.
"You two are turning 18 right?" Winter asked and the twins nodded their heads.
"So anyone you two have your eyes on?" Winter asked curious.
"I'm too busy making sure Rohan doesn't kill someone, and Rohan is too busy almost killing people." Rogan answered and Winter's eyes widened.
"That took a turn, why are you almost killing people?" Winter asked trying to be an older sister, but she was actually really concerned.
"They made Atalia cry." Rohan answered simply justifying his actions.
"Not a reason to kill but your actions are understandable." Winter answered while getting slightly annoyed by the fact that they made Atalia cry.
Rohan suddenly picked Winter up in bride style. "Hold on what are you doing?" Winter asked while her heart was beating faster. She doesn't like rollercoasters because it makes her dizzy. If they were about to use their super speed she will feel sick.
"You're slower than the average human being Winter, we don't got all the time in the world." Rohan retorted back and suddenly Winter couldn't see anything clearly. Everything was a big blur. After some minutes Rohan finally let her go. She could feel herself feeling dizzy but She felt better in an instant.
Winter knew the neighbourhood they were walking in were made out of vampires. There were stares everywhere, and she was starting to feel uneasy. However the boys where glaring at everyone. She expected that from Rohan but not from Rogan. The boy was the kindest between the two however right now it seemed like they were on protective mode, which bothered Winter. They just turned 18 two weeks ago, she is older than them. Shouldn't she be the one protecting them?
"Guys relax please." She tried telling them but suddenly Rohan had his fangs out and his eyes were glowing, which made Winter alert. If their eyes were glowing it ment they were ready to attack, however winter didn't see any danger.
"I dare you to approach her and I'll slit your throat." Rohan threatens and Winter tried to tell Rohan to calm down.
Suddenly a vampire appeared, he has fangs and long blond hair. His eyes were a red colour. His eyes were fixated on her. It made winter feel uneasy again. "You walk in my neighbourhood, scaring my people. Who do you think you are?" The blond headed man asked them.
Winter didn't expect Rogan to answer yet he did. "Tell your people not to look at her and we won't be having a problem."

"Who is she?" The man laughed and looked winter up and down. "Why are you to so protective of her?"
Winter couldn't keep up with her eyes. However rogan had left her side and was holding the man by his throat. Squeezing hard enough and preventing the man from oxygen. It was the first time Winter had witnessed Rogan be violent so it made Winter wonder what was truly going on. He was supposed to be the calm one, however it seemed as if Rohan was the most collected of the two.
"Rogan come back here please-" winter was worried this may end really badly however she was cut off.
"I said if your people don't look at here we won't be having a problem. The same goes for you. Keep your eyes to your damn self." Winter wasn't scared but she was surprised. This wasn't the Rogan she knew.
"Rohan please go get your brother." She asked but Rohan declined.
"You should be happy it's Rogan, if it was me that man would already be death." Rohan spoke with so much certainty that it scared her.
The vampire dropped on the ground after Rogan released him. Rogan returned to Winter's side and pushed her forward. Forcing her to keep on walking. "You didn't need to threaten him Rogan."
"He was staring at you miss."
"Yeah you could have ignored that." She Said however the young man shook his head.
"I'll will not tolerate such a disrespect." The words that left Rogan's lips made Winter wonder how protective these boys became over night. Was there something she was missing perhaps.
After walking for a while they finally met Lazarus. He been there with Atalia looking at buildings to buy. However winter wasn't sure if this neighbourhood was good enough for the kids to stay at. Perhaps it has already been two years. She hasn't seen Arculus in two years. The war was already forgotten, however she still had scars left behind. Winter was worried and didn't want anyone to be in danger anymore. She felt like she had suffered enough. Being death was something she wouldn't want to experience again, at least not so soon.
"It's okay Winter, Lazzy said he is deciding on building a house somewhere else." Atalia Said while running in her arms.
"You have gotten so big, I'm getting emotional." Winter said while smiling from ear to ear.
A woman came up and handed back the documents Lazarus had given her. However before she walked away she stared at Winter with raised eyebrows. She walked up to her and touched her cheeks. Winter didn't know how to react however before she could even say something back, the three kids had their fangs out and watched the lady closely.
"Do not touch her." Rohan said angry and the woman was taken back by the glowing blue eyes.
"Excuse them, they have gotten protective of the human." Lazarus said and dismissed the woman. "You three calm down for fuck sake." Lazarus said while pulling Winter closer to him.
"Whats up with you three?" Winter said while having her arm around Lazarus.
The kids didn't answer, but winter figured she will have this conversation later on with them. It seemed as if they were too much on edge and she didn't even know why. As soon as they arrived home Lazarus Informed Winter where they will be moving too in the coming weeks. They planned to built a mansion in the middle of nowhere, but she didn't mind. After all she had been done with school, and wasn't planning on going anywhere.
She did plan on visiting her mother and her brother later on this week. And before moving she would go clubbing with her friends. However she knew that perhaps going clubbing would be something dangerous to do but she couldn't find a way to say no. After all she had missed her friends and wanted to see them as soon as possible. She pushed her thought in the back of her mind and walked up to the play room. Raul was colouring in one of the books she had gifted him. When he noticed her presence he came crashing in her arms.
"Can you all stop growing so much." She asked while hugging the little boy.
The twins watched them and Lente came crashing in her arms too. "Why all the hugs? You have missed me?" She said while laughing from ear to ear. However she was taking back when the two kids started crying.
"Wait what's wrong?" She said worried. "Why are you two crying?" She wondered.
"They got scared after hearing the news that you died Winter." Rohan spoke up with his hands crossed. "You're our bigger sister that we have never had before. You leaving us actually gave us all a jump scare." Rohan informed her and winter realised that she was too busy finishing school that she left her little brother and sisters worried to death.
This time Atalia came rushing in her arms too. "You didn't call us too often and never paid us a visit. And I was scared of receiving other call telling us that you had died." As strong as Atalia was, she started crying in her arms.
"I was scared you would leave us behind again." Atalia was crying, and Winter could feel how her heart broke at the sight.
"We are just trying to reassure your safety. We are just scared of losing you again." Rogan spoke up with sadness in his eyes and Winter opened her arms. Hugging all the kids, even Rohan.
"I'm so sorry I worried you. I won't be leaving anytime soon I promise." She told the kids with certainty in her voice.
They heard Lazarus laugh in the background, the kids turned around and watched the man. "You all are a emotional wrack." He said while laughing.
Everyone jumped in Lazarus arms and he laughed even more. A family hug was what she truly needed. She had felt so lonely for the longest time. Winter had completely forgotten that the warmth of her home and family could have filled that hole. She was happy to be alive and she was more than happy to be finally home.

Shaman
*** Let's get this clear now: the MC is a trans woman. This is not a gender-bender. It's set in a fantasy world but the exploration of identity and gender is reality-based. Not a joke, not a kinky turn-on. If this is a problem for you, please just act like an adult and look elsewhere for something to read. *** Rating breakdown, since that should be public info: 2 x 5*, 1 x 4.5*, 1 x 3*, no reasons offered. A human shaman and healer returns from several years with the mysterious shyani, accompanied by her shapeshifting puma best friend. A valued friend, from her previous identity as a male student physician, has acquired an old shyani book, and extremists will not tolerate its presence in human hands. But back in human lands, the question arises: which world does she belong in? Generations ago, human explorers found a continent inhabited by an utterly alien culture of shapeshifting weyres and the shyani, humanoids who prefer dusk and dawn. A truce of sorts was eventually reached: humans claimed the rich lowlands, and the shyani and weyres retain the highlands. Along the border, practicality often rules, but on either side, old grudges linger in some hearts. As a student physician, Corin tried to take his own life, unable to bear the countless tiny wounds inflicted over twenty-one years of lying to himself in order to be, or pretend to be, socially acceptable. At the last improbable instant, intervention came, in the form of a spirit fox, who led him away from the existence he’d known in the lowlands and into the highlands. There, a puma weyre rescued him, and a shyani shaman helped him find his true self and offered a rebirth, a life with no more lies, and an important role to fill. Now a shaman and healer in her own right, Vixen who was once Corin learns that the one human who mattered to her in her previous life, then a fellow University student, has come into possession of an old shyani book, and the more fanatical shyani and weyres will stop at nothing to reclaim it and punish Jared. Even though it means going back into the lowlands and facing Jared as a woman, she can’t bear to just look the other way. This should be a short visit, just long enough to see the book into the proper hands and make sure Jared will not be killed for having it, and then she can return to the shyani community that has accepted her as their shaman. And, of course, her feline best friend Dayr insists on coming with her. But Jared is now a Lord, with considerable wealth and power, and his response to her presence isn’t one she expected. After years living with the shyani, she sees everything around her from a new perspective, and that makes it difficult to keep to the plan of making as few waves as possible. As an honoured guest in a highborn house, with only Jared aware that she has ever been anyone else, Vixen finds herself questioning where she belongs: with Dayr and the shyani, who accept her gender without question but have to make allowances for her differences, or with humans, in the culture she grew up in even though her past would mean a major scandal? *** Trigger warning: there are scenes of Vixen's previous life, which include some difficult moments and culminate in an (obviously unsuccessful) attempt at suicide before she finds her true self and a better life. Please be careful! This is the ONLY reason for the "Traumatising Content" tag.*** Complete stand-alone novel, 96K words. Also available on Scribble Hub and as a free ebook.

A Portal Fantasy Comedy Poem
Mix an adolescent shepherd boy in love with a girl who wants to meet existentialists, a Viscount in need of an adventure, and a bland psychic. Add in a flippant god. Put them in a land made up of the after-lives of various different cultures. Stir gently. Sprinkle in some random Midgard Serpent, Genghis Khan, Scheherazade, and a cussing mocking bird. Fry lightly. Season to taste and serve with desired garnishes. Bon apetit! A comic fantasy poetic epic, filled with misfits, slapstick routines, light romance, people shouting out the names of their battle skills before using them, old philosopher dudes running around naked, a very serious lamb, demonic knitting, battery operated magic swords and even more traumatising stuff! I experimented with different styles in the beginning and finally settled on an ABABBCBC rhyme scheme (Give me your 0.5s. Gimme, gimme, gimme. I'm collecting them, seriously)
