《BLOODTHIRSTY》39. Losing focus

Distraction had always been something he never had to worry about. When he did something he always was focused. He never slacked off or took breaks because he never needed it.
Yet when she was so far away from him, talking to the spirit he had disliked it made him lose focus. It made him distracted and that fact alone bothered him. However what bothered him more was how far away she was from him. He wanted her in his arms. He wanted to kiss her like he had always done, Arculus felt the need to hold her. Talk to her maybe even tell her what he had been keeping to himself. However he remained silent, and ignored this burning feeling inside of his chest.
Winter wasn't completely done with moving all of her stuff to Lazarus house. Revick had been helping her, and her mother already packed her stuff. She just waited for it to arrive however she wasn't sure if her mother was even planning on moving to this castle. Everytime she asked her she would change the subject. The door bell rang and this tall guy with tattoos all over his body was standing at the door opening. Winter smiled and she let the man in that was holding her stuff.
Arculus didn't like it, for some unknown reason he was annoyed. The man's eyes lingered far too long on Winter. Looking at places where the man wasn't supposed to be looking. Smirking down at her and being flirty.
"Calm down Arculus before you kill the man for staring at my sister." Gio said amused but Arculus was far from being amused.
"He is not supposed to be staring at her in the first place." He complained and put down his pen.
"Didn't know you were the protective type." Gio laughed at the demons reaction.
"I am not, his thoughts are just bothering me." He said simply as he stood up.
Gio placed his hand on the demons chest in the hope to hold him back. "Hold on there, I'll handle this. I don't need you going to jail."
Arculus raised his eyebrows and scoffed. "Jail? As if they can even hold me down there." Arculus kindly removed Gio's hand and walked towards the pair.
He made himself known by staring a hole inside of the man's head. Placing his hand around Winter's waist. This action seemed to make the man that had been flirting with his human uneasy. "You can drop everything outside I'll carry it myself."
"Arculus his just trying to be nice." Winter tried to reassure him, yet Arculus did not listen to her. He also knew that the man wasn't trying to be nice, he can recognise lust in a humans eyes when he saw it.
"Yeah sure no problem." He said and flashed a smile not even directed to him.
The tall man dropped everything in front of the door and glanced at Winter one last time. "I'll see you around." He said while smiling, she didn't even have the time to answer. The tall man walked away not saying anything.
"What did he mean he will see you around?" Arculus asked slightly irritated. His black eyes almost turning red.
Winter rolled her eyes at the demon. "You're overreacting." She said but still offered him a smile.
Arculus grabbed all the boxes on the ground and placed it in Winters room with super speed. This time he didn't even bother teleporting. In a blink of an eye he stood back where he had been a minute ago. Arculus glanced at winter his eyes softened and he found himself not being annoyed as he was a minute ago.

"I'm not overreacting Winter." He said while the kids all looked at him amused. "Okay maybe a little bit, however that wasn't the point." He told them annoyed.
Revick looked between the two. "You haven't noticed his smell?" Revick asked Arculus with raised eyebrows.
"His smell? No I was too busy being irritated why?" Arculus asked the spirit and he shook his head.
"No nothing, it's nothing." Revick said while he took his coat off the couch. "Either way I have to go." He said and send Winter an air kiss. She pretended to catch it and placed it on her heart. When Revick left Arculus seemed to glance at Winter. Looking at her with amazement. However he started overthinking again. Wondering if he was going to fast, he had never felt the way he did. Arculus wasn't sure if he was messing things up or not, and even if he was he didn't really mind. He just wanted her to stay by his side.
"I'm going to unpack my stuff." She informed Arculus while placing a kiss on his cheeks.
He had wanted to follow her, perhaps grab her arm and hug her tightly. However he stayed in his spot not bothering to go after her. After all he was here for work, he had business that needed to be taken care of and than he would be back in the underworld. Arculus sat down again, finishing his work he was supposed to do. Planning where and how he would push the angels in one corner. He had to make sure he surrounded them and make them surrender. However he wasn't even sure if they were planning on doing that.
"Ever since you arrived you have been acting strange." He heard Lazarus In the background.
Arculus turned around to see Lazarus standing there with glasses and coffee. "What do you mean?"
"Just go and talk to Winter." He said while taking the documents and all the paperwork away from him.
"What are you-"
"Come on, stand up and go talk to her." He said while turning away.
Arculus sighed and rose up from his seat. He slowly made his way towards the door and knocked on it. Her small 'come in' made him smile to himself. She stood right in front of her closet, filling it with her clothes. Her brown eyes never met his.
"I can do that for you? It will take like a second or two." He tried telling her but she laughed at him.
"No need, I'll do it the human way." She said while opening an other box with her clothes.
"I had wanted to ask you something..." Arculus trailed off, not knowing how to continue. Not knowing how to speak his mind. This human was making him have words stuck in his mouth. If was quite scary how much power she had over her, yet she didn't even know.
"Oh sure, unpacking can wait." She said while sitting down on her bed. "What did you want to say?" She asked him with wondering eyes.
"I won't be able to stay on earth after I have won the war. I have been preparing to be King ever since i have been there. Thing is, I just wanted you to know that." He told her carefully letting it sink in to her.
"I know what's the issues with that?" She asked him with raised eyebrows.
Arculus wanted to be straightforward with her. He had to tell her the truth. "I won't be able to come back Winter, I can not just leave my kingdom unprotected. Perhaps I have to remind you that you are human." He told her with crossed arms. "You are meant to be on earth, and even if you were able to enter and leave the underworld. Would you even consider it? Would you leave everything behind just for me?" He asked her with raised eyebrows and Winter felt a sharp pain go through her chest. The look of worry in his eyes made her feel some type of way.

"I can be a selfish man, however i don't want to be one for once. I won't force you to abandon everything you have worked for. Your family and friends even your dreams." Hearing him talk like it may have been the last time made her heart break. She knew he was telling her what he was worried about, however she didn't want it to sound like he was going away. He made it sound like he was leaving her.
Winter stood up from her bed and took steps towards the man. Her eyes glossy but she wasn't going to cry. She didn't allow it. "Why do you make if seem like a goodbye?"
Arculus heard the words that flew out of her mouth. He could hear her heartbeat and the way it was beating faster and faster. Perhaps he had been wrong. Perhaps the human girl loved him just as much he loved her. Maybe their departure was hurting both of them. He needed her just as much she needed him. Yet he wasn't sure anymore. Arculus wasn't sure but he knew he had hear her say those words before. At the party he went to for her, when he took the decision to look for answers on his own.
"What do you want me to say? What do you want to hear?" He asked her carefully, caressing her cheeks. Looking at her with love in his eyes. He didn't want to let go yet. He never wanted to let go.
"We can work things out right? Everything will be fine right?" She asked him with worry in her eyes and it hurts Arculus to see her such way. In fact it pained him.
"We can Snowflake, everything will be alright." He told her what she wanted to hear even when he was unsure.
Winter wrapped her arms around the man. She didn't think it through, she should have kept her mouth shut. She has never intended to put so much worry on his shoulder. Yet the words flew out of her mouth before she could even stop it. "You promise?"
"I promise, you have my word." He told her again unsure but Arculus had given his word. He couldn't take it back now. He didn't want to break his promise to his human. Arculus was a man of honour , he was prideful just like his mother.
It was unusual for Arculus to feel his teeth throb, he had been feeding himself like Orobas told him too do. Why did he feel hunger wash over him in this moment? Was it Winter? He glanced at the girl in his arms and tried to suppress his urges. Gently took Her face and kissed her. Kissed like it may have been the last time he would be able to kiss her. A kiss filed with passion, with need. He needed her closer to him, he wanted her closer. His hands grabbed her waist while he placed soft kisses on her neck.
"Shouldn't you get to work." Winter asked while smiling from ear to ear.
Arculus kissed her mouth in order to make her shut up. "I don't have to Winter, but I can." He held her close to him. Keeping her in his arms as if they have told him it was dangerous if she slipped away from his grip. Perhaps it was the case, he truly needed to protect her against harm.
Winter smiled but got out of his grip. In the process making Arculus upset. "Why was that needed human?" Arculus asked confused.
"I need to go back to unpacking and you have a work waiting for you downstairs." She told him easily, but right before he could walk out of her room. He kissed her one more time because he knew. If he went back to underworld, he won't see her for a long time.
He walked away and downstairs he was met with a smiling Lazarus. The vampire still had his glasses on and was sipping from his cup of coffee.
"You can focus on the war know, I'll handle the rest." Lazarus spoke with so much confidence that Arculus almost believed him.
"Look after her okay." He told the vampire and Lazarus nodded his head.
Lazarus smiled, wishing her father could have witnessed this. "Always." He said with a smile and Arculus nodded before going away.
Letting his wigs finally be free. Flying to hell was a short journey. However when he arrived he saw an being at the gate. Looking around completely lost, the dogs guarding the gate looked up at the being not feeling threatened.
Arculus walked up to the man, his tan skin glowing and golden eyes being hard to miss. His wavy hair was in a ponytail and he was wearing unusual clothing. In his hand was this staff as tall as the man himself, covered in stones and seashells. When the beings eyes met his, it softened.
"Can I help you?" He asked the man while petting the dogs.
"I came to see my sister, Queen Kezrha." The man informed him and Arculus raised his eyebrows.
"Sister?" He asked slowly progressing the information.
"Yes, I'm the god of the ocean, Amelus and many other things I'm too lazy to list. Anyway your mother hasn't paid me a visit and I'm quiet annoyed about that." He informed Arculus and he nodded in understanding.
"We are in a war after all, I can't really blame her." He said while letting the man pass the gate.
"Well your mother has her ways of pissing everyone off. In fact it's one of her many talents." Amelus told him and Arculus found himself smiling.
"I can agree with that."
"I can not believe my brother and son are talking behind my back." The Queen had raised eyebrows while being upset.
The siblings went into each other's arms, being all happy. "Azeric is taken action I heard. As much as I would want to help, I'm not involving my people into this mess you both created." Amelus complained and the Queen nodded her head in understanding.
Amelus turned around to look at Arculus. The son was strong and he could tell, perhaps even stronger than him. "Born by a demon and an angel. Chased after by beings, unknown creatures. Either way you seem to be doing fine."
Arculus smirked at Amelus words. "Well I'm not hidden anymore, they know where to find me." Arculus said confident, his inner demon was aching to get out.
"Confidence and a leader. You are a true god unlike your Uncle Azeric." Amelus spoke out loud and Arculus was a little taken back. Not sure if he heard right.
"God? Why are you calling me a God?" He asked Amelus with raised eyebrows.
"If your mother is a Goddess of the underworld. What does it make you?" The man asked him and it made Arculus think.
"You are a God, meant to rule son. That is your destiny." His mother spoke up with pride. "It has always been."

But that's about to change. .....I watched as he kept his eyes trained on the notebook in front of him where he aimlessly drew spirals and coils that surrounded each other, trapped each other, and suffocated each other. My eyes traced the movement of his pen, following each line he drew onto the paper. "Your tea." I snapped out of my trance and looked up, thanking Katy before she went back to the counter. I turned back and caught him looking at me. I expected him to look away and continue acting like I don't exist.
