《BLOODTHIRSTY》35. Welcome back home

He was forced once to read a book about emotions. Brasa the forest spirit was concerned that he wasn't able to understand human emotions. The spirit was scared because if he wasn't able to feel he won't be able to think properly either. Arculus spend his nights reading, however there was this feeling he had never been able to feel. They described it as when your heart is breaking. He knew not to take it too literally, yet he wondered how it felt like. Is what he was feeling right now called heartbreak? No it wasn't, arculus was sure that what he was feeling was disappointment. However he didn't know towards who? Towards him because he wasn't able to find out the truth. Perhaps towards Orobas for not speaking the truth at once, yet that wasn't Orobas fault right. Non of this would have happened if his parents haven't left him in forest on his own to be raised by spirits.

Arculus looked at the castle where Winter was staying at. He wanted to go inside, yet he found himself frozen. Unable to move forward, he knew the mind could be a messy place. Yet he didn't expect it to be like this at all.

"Aren't you supposed to be on your way." He heard Lazarus ask from behind him.

Arculus nodded his head. "Yes, but I just wanted to say goodbye to Winter. I don't know how long I will be gone."

Lazarus smiled and nodded his head. "You look more angry than disappointed." He said with his hands in his pockets.

"I'm not angry." Was all arculus could bring out, however he was unsure.

"Either way I have to go kid, I'll inform you about the plan involving the war when you are back. Well only if you want to hear it. See you later." Lazarus smiled and left the young man on his own.

Arculus was supposed to entire the house. Yet he stared at the stars instead. He knew it was getting late and he really had to be on his way to the underworld, but he found himself looking up at the sky. Still wondering why they had to leave him.

"Everything okay?" He heard a familiar voice ask. Arculus turned around and was met with Gio.

Arculus nodded his head. "Yeah I'm fine."

"Well you don't like fine." Gio said while holding his phone in his hand. It seemed like he was waiting for a phone call.

Arculus let a laugh escape his mouth. "You don't like fine either."

"Yeah well shit happens." Gio said and Arculus could tell that Gio wasn't really being himself. He wondered if Gio has ever been himself. Maybe everything he had seen was just Gio faking it.

"You know sometimes love is really a bitch." Arculus looked at Gio in surprise. Not expecting him to say that at all.

"Well that was random." He laughed and Gio laughed along. "Love really is bitch though." Arculus found himself agreeing.

"Crazy how it's so easy to see it in the eyes. I could tell that you have something with my sister." Gio said and the smile he had earlier wasn't on his face anymore.

Arculus scratched his neck. "I was planning on telling you about that myself."

"It's okay I'm not planning on playing the overprotective big brother. However do not hurt her feelings, that is all I'm asking." Gio said worried and Arculus could see how his eyes softened when he spoke about Winter.

"No need to be worried, I'm not planning on hurting her." Arculus said while looking at Gio. "It seems like love hasn't been easy on your part. Don't worry she will come around." Arculus said while finally planning on going inside.

Gio raised his eyebrows at the man. Confused how Arculus even knew that he had been troubled because of a girl, his girl. "Just one of my many demon powers." Arculus smiled at him and left the brother outside.

Inside of the house he could see how the living area was awfully quiet. It was late but not late enough for the kids to already be sleeping. He walked up the stairs and followed her scent. His tracks stopped in front of a door, he knocked a couple of times. The door was openend and he was met with the little girl. Her long dark hair reached her waist. The girl ran in his arms, and it took him by surprise.

"Well hello to you too." He said while laughing at Lente.

"You don't come as often." The little girl complained.

"He was here some days ago." Rohan said annoyed and arculus couldn't help but noticed how much Rohan reminded him of Amdusias. Personality wise they could have been brothers.

"I came to say goodbye. I promise after my 'trip', I'll come by more." The demon promised the little girl and she nodded happily.

"Has any of you seen Winter?" He asked with raised eyebrows.

"She was taking a shower." Atalia answerd and arculus nodded his head.

He said goodbye to the kids and went to Winters room. He knocked first, yet she did not answer. So he just went inside her room and laid on the bed with his eyes closed. Her scent was all over the place. Arculus patiently waited for Winter to be finished. When he heard the bathroom door open, he smiled to himself. However winter almost let out a scream.

"You can't just walk in like that."

Arculus eyes were still closed while he laid down. "I didn't walk though."

"Whatever just close your eyes." She said while rolling her eyes.

"They already closed snowflake." He laughed but decided not to say more.

He could hear her walking around and closing doors and walk back in. How hard was it to get dressed he wondered to himself. But when he didn't hear her footsteps anymore, and suddenly felt something on top of him. She wasn't heavy, however if he was human he probably wouldn't be able to breath with the way her body dropped on his stomach.

"You can't just jump on me like that? What if I broke something?" Arculus asked while finally opening his eyes.

"Well you didn't break something." Winter said and stared into his dark eyes.

"You know Lazarus said no baby making." Winter rolled her eyes at Arculus words, and wanted to stand up. However arculus grabbed her again, and pulled her back in his arms.

"I was just joking snowflake." He said while laughing and Winter buried her face in his chest.

"How long will you be gone?" She asked him and he sighed.

"I have no idea, time is also different over there." He said while touching her hair.

Winter found herself hugging him tighter. Not wanting to let go. "I'll miss you." Was all she said.

"Why are you making it sound like a goodbye? I'll be back Winter." Arculus said and Winter escaped out of his arms. She looked in his eyes and could see the reflection of what he was feeling.

"You will be alright." She said and Arculus nodded his head, hearing the words come out of her mouth made him feel as if she was speaking the truth. In fact Winter could say whatever she wanted and he would still believe her. Even if she was lying, even what she was saying wasn't possible. He would still believe every word because she was Winter, his brightness. She was his snowflake he would gladly die for.

He held her chin and placed a kiss on her mouth. "I'll be alright." He said and placed an other kiss on her mouth.

Arculus didn't want to leave her just yet. However he really had to go. So he freed himself from her embrace. "Just call my name if you need me okay." Winter nodded her head and he placed a kiss on her forehead before going away.

The journey to the underworld was surprisingly a short one. He had to use his wings. White wigs with black dots, this had been the first time the other demons had seen it. The first thing he noticed when he step foot in the underworld is how dark it was, besides having two moons. He noticed that as soon his feet landed on their ground everyone seemed to stop in their tracks, looking at him as if he was from an other planet. Which he couldn't be mad about because he truly wasn't from there.

Majority from the demons had a human from, however here and than he would see creatures he had never seen before. Before they could go any further, there was a gate. At each side of the gate was a black dog with two heads. Sharp teeth and dark eyes looking back at them. Arculus didn't know how he knew, but he had seen those creatures before. They were called Canibus, dogs protecting the underworld from threats.

However Arculus was unknown. The dogs didn't seem to see him as a threat, but even if he wasn't the dogs were supposed to be acting a type of way. Instead it just sat back down and stared at him. Arculus wasn't sure if he was imagining it but the dogs seemed to be smiling at him.

After they passed the gate, he got the chance to see what the underworld truly looked like. There where demons everywhere, all kind of colour and sizes. Arculus was mesmerised. Just as Arculus was mesmerised, the demons there had no idea of what was happening. They could tell from the scent he was their own, however he didn't seem to be just a demon.

Amdusias saw how all the demons stared at them. He was sure everyone could tell who he was but just couldn't remember properly. He was sure everyone could feel it but just couldn't remember why they reacted such a way. Orobas looked at the castle they stood in front of. Arculus was too busy staring around him that he didn't noticed what was in front of him. When he finally looked in front of him, he was met with a castle completely painted in black. There were traces of gold that could be found however majority of the castle was a black and grey colour.

The two other demons passed through the thick doors first but before Arculus could even set foot in the castle. The guards that stood in front of the door kneeled down. Holding a weapon with their left hand and their right hand on their chest. Their eyes never looking back at him. "Welcome home." The words that left their lips made Arculus feel uneasy. He didn't consider this place as his home.

When he passed by them he could see Orobas and Amdusias waiting for him. The castle brought memories up, memories that where supposed to be erased. Memories that he wasn't supposed to remember, yet he remembered how he ran around the castle at the age of 3. Arculus remembered how he played with Orobas and always messed up his name. It was actually supposed to be Orobias. He remembered the way he hid behind those walls while Amdusias looked for him.

Arculus raised his eyebrows, if those memories are correct. How come they didn't inform him they were childhood friends. How come they didn't tell him they have met before? This made him feel more hurt than needed, he already hated lies. However he hated half truths more. How hard can it be to tell the truth? Arculus was growing tired of this already.

However he didn't say anything and followed them. There was this door that was covered in gold, Orobas pushed it open. As soon as he entered the place, he could see how the two demons kneeled down. Their eyes never looked up, they were in the same position as the guards earlier.

"I told you two already to stop doing that didn't I?" Her voice alone made arculus look up. Her tan skin and beautiful eyes, long black hair reaching her waist. Arculus raised his eyebrows at the woman on the throne.

"You're the Queen, you should be treated as one." Orobas spoke up and finally looked the woman in the eyes.

The woman they were referring as Queen finally looked at him. Her eyes widened at the young man staring back at her. He had the same colour of hair as hers, they shared the same dark eyes. Yet he was a spitting image of his father.

"Arculus?" The woman called out and he could feel his heartbeat beating again.

Arculus was quiet and looked at the woman. "That is me." Was all he said while looking around. Never looking in her eyes.

Orobas saw how Arculus had issues with realising what was happening. However Orobas didn't expect the Queen to leave her throne. She walked towards the man she had birthed, the man she loved and would give her life for. The Queen placed her hands on his cheeks, looking at him in disbelief. Holding back tears, she thought she had cried enough yet it seemed that she was wrong. The first tears rolled down her cheeks as she looked at her son she thought she wouldn't see again.

Arculus looked down at the woman. He could tell that she didn't have it easy. He could tell that she struggled too, but to go far and abandon him. As if there wasn't any other solutions. He was angry and he finally admitted it to himself. He was unhappy and he had all the rights to be, but even when he felt that way. He couldn't push the woman away, he couldn't find the strength to push his mother away.
