《BLOODTHIRSTY》31. Invasion day

The phone call she had to make to reassure her mom that she was okay, was surprisingly not so hard. To her surprise her mother didn't say much, only to be careful. It had almost been a month that she was here in the castle, without letting anyone know. When Lazarus finally gave Winter her phone back, the only messages she had received were from Isabelle and Brian. Her brother Gio, had called her more times than Brian and Isabelle combined.
However what was more surprise was to see a message from Andrea. The girl Winter remember spending her nights with. Watching moves and holding sleepovers. Eating ice cream at each other's houses every time one of them felt miserable. Winter didn't know what she was supposed to expect from her. The girl winter remembered had always been there for her, however lately she didn't expect anything from her. Andrea had distanced herself from Winter that it didn't feel natural anymore. For her to message Winter, something had to be really wrong with her.
Winter closed her door and set on her bed. With her phone right next to her ear, she listened the the beeping sound. Waiting for Andrea to pick up. Soon enough she could hear Andreas voice from the other line.
"Hey." Andrea whispered softly.
"Hey An, I saw you message me some days go. Sorry for only answering right now." Winter apologised to her, and somewhere felt guilty.
"It's okay." Andrea answered in a raspy voice, and Winter could feel how something was indeed wrong.
"I'm sorry Andrea for not calling earlier, I'm really a bad friend." Winter didn't expect those words to fly out of her mouth. However she felt responsible for not being there for her. "Have you been crying?" She found herself asking carefully, not trying to hurt Andrea more.
"No...well I mean yes but...Euh it's hard to explain." Andrea told her. The girl that usually was always strong found herself falling apart.
"It's okay An, I'll be here if you want to talk about it." Winter tried to reassure her, however Andrea didn't agree.
"I don't like the way you act like nothing happened Winter."
Winter was silent, she knew she had to talk about it to someone, however no one believed her the first time. Why would they believe her now.
"I'm sorry-"
"Stop apologising Winter, I admit I was being a shit friend. Never including you or wanting you to go out if we weren't there. However I still care, even if I haven't done much to prove myself. I still care." Winter could hear her voice crack at the end and it made her feel some type of way.
"It was hard you know, having to watch how you fall apart. How you changed into this person I wasn't used to seeing. You weren't the same happy outgoing person that I knew. It's probably late, but every time I tried to talk you would push me away. How do you expect me to act like a friend if you keep everything to yourself? How do you expect me to understand you if you never gave me a chance?" Winter was silent, the words had been stuck in her throat.
"Maybe back than I should not have left you. Maybe I should have brought you back to your senses. Perhaps I should have forced you to talk. I shouldn't have assumed you would be fine. I shouldn't have seen you as this broken vase that I wasn't able to fix. So I would like to apologise to you. I'm sorry winter, however somewhere you were in the wrong too." Andrea shared everything she had been holding inside. Everything she had wished she had said years ago, was finally out in the open.

"I know, you are right. I should have asked for help and confided in you or someone else, instead of bottling everything up. However I didn't want to remember anything that went down, and I didn't want you to see me as weak. I wasn't sure anyone was going to believe me even if I did talk. Remember, I almost ended up in a mental institution. Why do you think that happened?" Winter asked Andrea.
"I'm not sure, Chris told me that-"
"Please don't mention his name." Winter was holding back tears. It was all sinking in to her.
The heartbreak and the betrayal, all the lies that had slipped past his lips. Perhaps she should have listened to Andrea. Perhaps she should have confided in her. However she was scared of judgment. She didn't want to disappoint anyone, lately it seemed like it was the only thing she was good at.
So she did what Andrea had asked of her. Because what if friendship if you don't trust one an other? Winter told her everything. The vampire that had kidnapped her. The way Chris had made her walk in their traps. She told her about Arculus and how he wasn't human. Winter told her everything that has happened the last months.
As she expected the other line was silent. "I...I really don't know what to say. Does your mom know this? Shit this Brian know."
"They don't know however my mom has been acting weird." Winter didn't want to say it out loud, yet she still did. Andrea didn't seem to judge her or at least not yet.
"All of this is hard to believe, however you aren't the type to lie. In fact you really have to be on some crazy shit to come up with all of that." Andrea laughed through the phone, and she laughed along. Remembering how she had missed her voice and her laughter.
"Why have you been crying? Was it because of me?" Winter asked with guilty on the tip of her tongue.
"No...I just had a...disagreement with my mother."
"You want to talk about it?" Winter asked
While she heard some noises coming from outside, but she figured it was just the kids playing around.
"I mean I'm not sure how you would take it, in fact I'm scared you would see me differently." Andrea confessed and Winter laughed through the phone.
"I just told you a whole story about vampires and demons, how bad can it be sunshine?" Winter asked, and Andrea smiled at the nickname.
"Well...euh...I'm not straight Winter. I like girls and well my mom didn't take it well." Andrea shared with Winter, and was scared of how she would take it.
"Maybe your mom needs more time, perhaps she didn't now how to take it. However if she is really against it than perhaps she doesn't deserve you. You are a great person and should be accepted for who you are." Winter shared with her and Andrea felt how she was able to breath again.
However the noises outside was only getting louder.
"What was that?" Andrea asked filled with worry.
"I have no idea." Winter admitted however a loud bang could be heard from outside.
The noises she heard earlier only got louder. Her phone closed by itself and tried to call Andrea back however she suddenly didn't have any service.

"What the hell is happening?" She asked herself and walked out of her bedroom just to be pushed back in by Rogan.
She had never seen the tall boy with a worried look on his face. Not even when she had seen him for the first time in those cages. He looked close to terrified even.
"What's wrong Rogan?"
"Miss you have to stay here, you can't go out. T-there are weird creatures I have never seen before in my life."
"The kids, where are they?" The first thing to slip past her lips.
"They are with Rohan, I care to check on you." Rogan admitted, however something wasn't sitting right with Winter.
Weird creatures? Could it be that arculus is here. Even if he is, he won't use violence. Winter had been so busy with being worried about her father and looking out for the kids, that she hadn't noticed time going by.
"You need to let me out Rogan."
"No I can't do that." Rogan stood in front of the door, stopping Winter from going out.
"Rogan its fine-"
"No Miss, this is different. I can't let you get harmed." Rogan said with worry in his eyes. For a 15 year old he was really brave, however he was a child. She should be protecting him.
"Rogan get out of my way."
The door rogan was standing in front of was pushed open. Winter didn't expect to see Amdusias standing in the door way. Rogan stood in front of her trying to hide Winter behind him. With his fangs on display.
"Not an other vampire. I'm so sick and tired of you." Amdusias complained and winter found herself rolling her eyes.
"Stop acting stupid we are in a vampires castle, what do you expect?" Winter heard Orobas voice coming from somewhere, but she wasn't able to see him.
Rogan has blue glowing eyes while watching the demon. On edge and all he was seeing was a threat. He picked Winter up and used his super speed to bring her to safety. The room where all the other kids where looked dark. The kids where all sitting right next to each other, while Rohan was holding Raul in his arms. The kids all looked terrified and she could see how the oldest tried not to panic too much, since it would scare the youngest.
"Winter I'm scared, is it happening again?" Lente asked outside and rushed to Winters arms.
Rohan looked angry, she could tell by the look on his face and glowing eyes. "It's going to be fine." Winter tried to reassure the kids.
"Where the hell is lazarus when you actually need him?" Rohan complained and passed Raul to Rogan.
The door was opened again and Amdusias was looking around confused. Lente let out a scream at the sight of the unfamiliar man. "You can't offend me like that, I'm not that scary." Amdusias defended himself.
"Shut up Amdusias for fucks sake." Orobas said annoyed and finally revealed himself.
"It's okay they won't harm you. Rohan please come back here." Winter asked Rohan, it seemed everyone was on defensive mode. Rohan glanced at Winter and back to the two demons. Surprisingly his eyes went back to its original colour and he went back to Winter. However he was still on edge, standing close enough in case things went down.
"Listen I had no idea there would be kids here, I just came to look for you." Orobas spoke up and glanced at Winter.
The situation they were in was bad, she didn't want to leave the kids all by themselves. "Listen I will be right back okay. I have to stop them from doing something stupid." Winter told the kids and Amdusias frowned.
"Promise you will be back." Atalia asked Winter.
"I promise."
As soon she walked out of the room. She made sure to tell Orobas to make sure no other demons could entire the room. It looked like they brought more demons with them to invaded this place. When she arrived downstairs she looked in horror, the way everything was ruined. Nothing was at its place anymore. Winter gasped in horror while she watched the way creatures she had never seen before were to be seen in every corner.
"This isn't right guys, please stop." She begged. However she was being ignored.
It only took winter to blink once or twice and the situation she was trying to avoid happening right in front of her. One of the demons had a grip on Rogan. Atalia was crying and Rohan had a stone cold expression on his face while he watched everything around them.
"No! Let them go." Winter found herself screaming yet it seemed as if there was so many thing happening at once that she couldn't keep up. She didn't catch the bruise on Rohan's face. She didn't notice right away the way some of the kids were not there.
"Stop, please stop!" Winter screamed again while holding back tears. Something was suddenly hurting Rohan, she couldn't keep up with her eyes. However she could feel tears roll down her cheeks.
The vampire everyone had wanted to see appeared in front of them. To say he was angry was a understatement. Winter suddenly remembered the man she had been so comfortable being around with truly was. His eyes were red, fangs on display. Winter noticed his sharp claws and the way he glared at everyone in the room.
"Hurt that kid again and I swear you will regret this." Lazarus spoke up with anger on the tip of his tongue.
Amdusias snapped in his finger and made every single demon in the castle stop in their tracks. "How many damn times do I have to say stop for you to listen?" Winter had never seen this side of Amdusias. In this moment he looked like a leader.
"You barge in my house, kill my guards and have the audacity to hurt the kids. You have angered me." When Lazarus spoke it sounded like thunderstorms.
"Well this is bad." Amdusias whispered under his breath.
