《BLOODTHIRSTY》20. Flower and fruits

You can't compare the human body and Arculus body. No because Arculus was born special. He didn't have to eat human food, In fact he could go on a long period of time without food. He could see things that most humans could never catch with their eyes. He was always hidden in the dark, no one could be able to see him unless he wanted to be seen. And the answer was yes, he wanted to be seen. Yet he couldn't show himself, he couldn't bring himself to let Winter know he was there.
No instead Arculus had watched the way the man approached her, with a smirk on his face and eyes so dark he was sure he would see a glimpse of himself. He watched the way he touched her, with long fingers and sharp nails. The man had placed his finger on Winters lips, moving even closer to her. Whispering things in her ear. He watched the way she fall on the ground and fainted. The man with short black hair and evil eyes smiled to himself. Arculus had wanted to show himself, yet he stayed hidden. Watching the way the man touched her forehead and slowly made his way to her lips...again.
Arculus was aware who the man was. He had known who the man was, because Arculus never forgot a face. Especially his face. However he couldn't bring himself to understand. No matter how many times he thought about this, his mind was a messy place. The question he had been dying to ask her only brought more confusion to him.
What did the leader of a terrorist vampire pack had to do with Winter...his Winter?
This all didn't make sens to him, not one bit. Arculus thought he was the only non-human she had ever met. Or at least the first one that had walked into her life. But taking her reaction in consideration, it didn't seem like the man was unknown. Arculus knew Winter, He knew that her body froze when she was scared. He was aware of the way she found herself glued to the ground, unable to move. Arculus had been observing her since the first time they had met. But she wasn't completely glued on the ground, no she was able to at least take steps back. Instead of saying stay away, the only words that left her lips were 'I have to go'. As if she was afraid of the outcome if she stayed longer. As if she was aware of the danger if she stayed longer.
As soon as the man had left her there on the ground, he made sure to wait till Isabelle returned. The hospitals hallway was dark, or at least on this floor It was. The look of terror on Isabelle's face made Arculus relief. Relieved to know that Isabelle truly cared about her, and that he would be leaving winter in good hands. Before he returned back to his home, the forest. Arculus found himself looking at her for one last time. Her chest rosé up and down and her lips were slightly open. The only reason why he left her there, was because he had seen the man and had to report immediately.
Returning back to his house he already found Orobas and Amdusias looking at papers. Arculus sat down on the couch and tried to think about something that made sense.
"I saw him." Orobas and Amdusias turned around, glancing at Arculus.
"Who the fuck is 'him'?" Amdusias asked annoyed with raised eyebrows.
"Lazarus Van Aedes." Arculus replied and everyone grew quiet. Even Amdusias for once was shocked.

Orobas took the papers he was holding and placed it on the table. He wasn't sure he heard it right so he turned around with surprise. "You sure? Where did you see him?" Orobas asked carful because he could look right through Arculus.
"I saw him in the hospital." He told them simply but he was deep down troubled.
"Hospital? What was he doing in the hospital? Wait what were you doing in the hospital?" Amdusias asked completely confused.
"I was just looking out for her, until he approached her. Not only did he have the audacity to even breath her way, he even made her faint." Arculus had been feeling rage for a while. This situation that he found himself being in upsets him but it made him more angry in all honesty. For her to be so scared it must mean he had done something to her in the past.
That thought alone made his blood boil. His eyes blurry and he could feel his teeth even throbbing. He had never wanted to hurt anyone so badly as he did at this moment. Orobas noticed the way Arculus was troubled.
"Calm down Archie." Orobas tried telling the man the calm down but instead Arculus let out a hiss. Orobas had never seen his fangs on full display like this.
"What was the human doing with that bloodsucker?" Amdusias asked fully aware that there was an other bloodsucker in the room, but he couldn't bring himself to care.
"I do not know." Arculus eyes were a bright red colour alerting everyone in the room to be careful with their choice of words. One wrong move and the man could snap.
"Why don't you just ask her?" Orobas asked him not sure of the reason why he was making it so much harder for himself.
"Winter is not the type to talk. She likes keeping things for herself." Arculus let out a deep sigh, the last days he had been so stressed.
The last time Orobas had heard that name it must have been some years back. First he had thought the human Arculus was head over heels for had been a random human girl, however he had been talking about Winter? The same girl that have been kept hostage by the Sinners. The very reason why he had to plan a whole invasion to take his object back.
Orobas almost let it slip past his lips. He almost was the reason why Arculus was about to snap. He coughed and glanced at Arculus. If he knew the reason why she was so scared, Arculus most definitely would kill someone. However there was something else also troubling Orobas. His thoughts drifted back to all the questions Arculus had been asking him. The spirit of Faith would never show up twice at the same place. Her work is a once a time thing, she is never consistent.
"You're able to pick up scents right? After all you were able to sense me." Orobas asked again and picked the documents he stole from Amdusias.
"Yes why?" Arculus finally sat back down and seemed to be back to his normal self.
"Have you met any of the humans friend? Is anyone among them non-human?" Orobas asked carefully, not wanting to make him angry.
"I have met them, I'm the only non-human she is friends with. Why are you asking?" Arculus aksed with raised eyebrows.
"Because the spirit isn't the type to stick around in one place. So she is either not being lazy for once or she is using someone else to do the work for her." Orobas said simply while looking through his own documents he brought from home.

Arculus was uneasy with someone working for the spirit without him being aware. However he would have picked up the scent of the other being, all of them smelled human. At least to him they did. Either Winter has friends Arculus haven't met yet. Or someone in her group of friends is masking their smell to make them come off as human, but even if they did he would have been able to tell. He would have been able to see...right?
"Who could be powerful enough to mask their smells, that even I wouldn't be able to tell?" Arculus was deep in thought and watched the way Amdusias glanced at Orobas.
Amdusias rubbed his face in annoyance. He found himself always being annoyed. "Wouldn't she be in danger?" He asked being careful not to piss of the man always hidden in the dark.
Arculus eyes met Amdusias dark ones. "In danger?" He asked with raised eyebrows, listening intentive.
"I mean if an unknown being is disguised as human wouldn't that be dangerous? What if something happened to Winter?" Amdusias asked them, why he even cared to begin with was unknown to him.
"No I don't think so, if the being wanted her death she would already been death." Orobas informed them while finally removing his eyes from the documents. His eyes landed on Arculus and he didn't look so happy, in fact it looked like he could be killing anyone at this very moment.
Arculus eyes were glowing at this point. He wasn't used to feeling anger or any emotions for that matter. To him emotions were more of a human thing. Of course Arculus still felt something, just not so strong. Yet the anger he had been feeling, the rage that was consuming him at the point it almost left him blinded made him concerned. The thought of her being harmed already brought such a strong emotions out of him. The thought alone almost made him want to let his true self take over. What would happen if she was truly harmed? What would he do if something happened to her?
Taking a glance at the documents Orobas had been looking at. All the reports from the demons that were hidden and walking in the very same house as the vampire leader, only the man had no idea. No idea that the demons were plotting on taking the object back that could kill any being, and could kill him. The attack would take place in some weeks. They had to make sure the timing was right.
"I'll be keeping Winter safe, until the day we attack." Arculus said simply before walking away. Amdusias had never liked him, always doing whatever he wants as if he didn't have to follow any rules.
"The mission comes before your human." Amdusias tried telling him, he tried informing him because after all he was right. The mission did come first.
Arculus sent a glare his way, eyes still bright red and still hungry. Perhaps hungry for blood. "Since when do you command me." Amdusias saw the change, he sensed it and could even hear it. Arculus wasn't asking him.
No word left Amdusias lips. He kept his mouth shut and stared at Arculus. However he couldn't keep the smile from forming on his lips. Arculus ignored him and walked away. Leaving Orobas utterly confused.
Amdusias waited for Arculus to leave the room, to finally say something. "Tell me Orobas is it me or did he Change?"
Orobas eyes met Amdusias dark ones. He didn't want to admit it because he knew this was bad, and could end bad. However Amdusias didn't see the danger, in fact he was quite enjoying it. "Perhaps he changed after his first taste of blood?" Amdusias smiled and liked his lips.
"Honestly whatever it is I'm like the change." Amdusias admitted and went back to scanning all of the reports that the demons have been sending.
"There is nothing to like here Amdusias. We both know what happens when a monster lose controle or have you forgotten? Perhaps do I have to remind you?" Orobas asked without taking his eyes of the man that was being stupid.
"There would be a lot of blood loss but you know I find joy in that." A sinister smile made its way on Amdusias face and Orobas couldn't believe he had forgotten that Arculus wasn't the only monster he had the pleasure meeting.
Orobas stared at the door Arculus was supposed to be in. He could tell Arculus wasn't there because he didn't pick up his scent, and he was right. Arculus was in her room. Sitting in the dark making sure she was alright. Watching her trying to fall asleep even after the events that had occurred hours ago. He wasn't able to find peace, this world had all sort of evil lurking in every corner. He hasn't able to, yet watching her sleep brought peace to him. Knowing that she could be able to sleep made him relieved and satisfied. Even if he wasn't able to, even if he had trouble silencing the voices in his head, it was all right to him. As long as she was alright, he would be alright.
Maybe he wasn't supposed to think that way. Maybe it was dangerous for him to feel that way. However not much mattered to him, honestly nothing ever did. As long as Winter was alright he didn't have to worry about himself. Perhaps something did matter to him, maybe that would be her wellbeing. He was brought out of his thoughts when he heard her soft voice calling to him.
Winter had sensed something watching her. She didn't have any supernatural abilities but her gut feeling told her she was being watched. However she knew it was him, she had a feeling it was him. And when he heard his deep voice she smiled. She was right. It was indeed him.
"Did I wake you up?" He finally showed himself, and winter saw how his eyes glowed in the dark.
She smiled and Arculus heart that usually lacked a heartbeat, skipped a beat. "Not really, I haven't been able to sleep." She told him truthfully.
"How come?" He asked her and approached her, but he deep down already knew what was keeping her awake at night.
"I'm scared and I-" Winter silenced herself after she stared at his eyes. The same eyes that had been watching her every single day without her knowing. A growl escaped Arculus lips which brought Winter to be slightly shocked.
Arculus bit his lips from keeping him to make other sounds he couldn't control, and he also took steps closer towards her. Sitting down on her bed, making sure not to crush her with his body. "Didn't I tell you to call me?" Arculus raised his eyebrows.
"I don't like feeling like a burden. I should be able to handle my own fears and look after myself. You won't always be there to protect me." Winter told him but in some way it was a reminder to herself.
Arculus was hurt. A burden? To who? Him? Winter was his source of light in the darkness. She would never be a burden to him. "You're right, you need to be able to protect yourself. However you promised me to call out for me when there is something wrong right?" He asked her with raised eyebrows. Knowing well he won't be able to ask her about Lazarus.
His heart skipped a beat again when his saw her smile. The smile that was able to melt his frozen heart. "Yes,I'm a woman of my word." She told him with a wide smile on her face. "C-can you stay here with me?" She asked him and all he did was smile. He removed his shoes and laid in her bed.
Arculus kept his hands to himself. Scared to touch her against her will, scared that he would miss her touch when he had to return home. However Winter chuckled and moved closer to him. He glanced at the human girl right next to him. Even in her dark room he was able to see the way she nodded, and that is when his hand finally landed on her back. Pulling her closer to him. Her heartbeat was like a song, a melody he wouldn't mind being stuck in his head. Her hair smelled like flowers and fruits and he wished he could hold her all the time. He wished he could keep her in his arms. Because here she was safe, because here she was with him. And if she ever had to fear something, it would never be him.
