《BLOODTHIRSTY》17. Unknown faith

5 seconds, maybe even 2. She wasn't so sure. Everything Winter knew was the fact that she only blinked once and she was back in her dorm room. Lying on her bed while her shoes where missing. The coat she had been wearing had been removed, and her mind was a messy place. It was still progressing whatever just went down, but she was confused.
Arculus stood in front if her window with a knife in his hand covered in blood. Her eyes widened at the sight and immediately made her way up to him. Checking his face and body for any wounds, just to find nothing.
"Are you okay Arculus? What happened my eyes couldn't catch up I'm so sorry." Winter didn't know why she was on the very edge of tears but all she knew was she felt guilty.
His shirt had bloodstains on it and all she could think about is the fact that it belonged to him. Winter and the sight of blood never went along. She always felt like she could lose consciousness.
"Y-you need me to call the ambulance? Arculus you're bleeding a lot. I-I'm so sorry. Why do I always have to be stupid?" Arculus heard her speak softly as if she was about to break, and maybe she was about to break.
Arculus wanted to approach her but Winter took steps back. Her body shaking in fear. It was at this moment he understood she suffered from hemophobia. He quickly took his shirt off and threw it away at the side where there wasn't any blood. His hand dropped the knife on the table not so far form the window, making sure the sharp object was far away from her.
"I'm alright Winter. Just breath in and out okay." He slowly made his way up to her and held her hand. "Breath in and out." Arculus helped Winter with her breathing exercises and after awhile she had calmed down.
"I shouldn't have came to the forest without letting you know. If I never came this wouldn't have happened. I'm really sorry Arculus. I-I don't know what came over me." Her hands were trembling and Arculus was confused. Winter wasn't scared when she in the forest. What made her so anxious perhaps scared. Was it the blood or was it the knife.
"Everything is okay Winter. You're safe no need to be scared anymore." He tried to reassure her but she shook her head.
"What if something happened to you?" Winter promised herself not to cry and held her tears back. "I'm not sure what happened-" Winter referred to his scars on his chest. "But I don't want to add an other one. Again I'm sorry." Winter didn't want to look in his eyes. The look of shock was written all over his face, and a smile slowly made its way on his face.
"The knife was harmless. I can heal fast you see." Arculus stood up, showing his bare chest to her and spinning around. "I don't get scars really fast." He told her and sat back down on her bed.
Winter reached for his face and placed her hand on his cheeks. Trying her best not to ask any questions because she wasn't in the right place to ask. "I'm glad you're okay. I'm not really sure what had happened." Winter Informed him and he could feel himself grow annoyed.
"Amdusias threw one of his knifes your way. He can make the knife go anywhere he wants it too, so I jumped in front of you to stop the knife from cutting you. That annoying sadist, I'll handle him later on." Arculus watched her like he had done countless of times. The way her eyes radiated warmth. Something about her made him feel at home.

"I'm-" Arculus rolled his eyes at her. "I hope you weren't about to apologise." A smile finally made its way on her lips, reminding her why she had missed him so much.
Showing this type of behaviour wasn't like him. Jumping in front of her to take the 'bullet' for her. He didn't mind getting harmed in her place, he didn't mind getting hurt in her place. As long as she was safe and sound, Arculus didn't have one care in the world. Yet he knew his was changing. This wasn't his first time seeing a human almost get hurt, or get hurt in general. Why did he feel the need to jump in front of her? Why was she so different from all the other humans?
He never felt the need to save the other humans that where in need. Of course Arculus still tried to help but he didn't feel like he had to. He didn't feel like his world would crush down if he didn't do something. When Arculus saw the knife directed to Winter something in his chest was about to explode. He felt this worry take over him, it was safe to say that it felt more like an instinct when he jumped in front of her- but why would it be?
Arculus had a feeling there was more behind this. "Can I ask you something Winter?"
"Euh yes."
"Do you believe in faith?" The question that had rolled off Arculus tongue made Winter think.
"I mean in some way. I believe whatever is meant to happen will eventually happen." She told him while watching the way his eyebrows raised.
"So lets say we didn't meet that night in the forest, let's say you never were stupid enough to listen to your friends and step foot in the forest. You believe we will have met some other way eventually?" The question floated in the air waiting to be answered, but Winter was too deep in thought.
"Well Yes isn't that how faith works?" She shot an question back at him and he looked her into the eyes.
"You know what I think?" He asked Winter and the she shook her head.
"I think there is something not adding up." He told her truthfully and it made Winter think.
"Wait why? Because we met?" Why she felt so hurt by his statement was a mystery to herself too.
Arculus smiled at her and moved closer to her. "No Winter what if It wasn't faith like you believe it to be, what If it was planned?"
The shiver that went through her body made her cold in an instant. Fear was knocking at her window and she didn't want to let it in but she still did. Why she was so scared was a unknown to herself too, but all she did know was whatever was happening right now could be a start of something good. Maybe bad but she didn't want to think about it. She wanted to stay positive but that had been a hard task lately.
Arculus laughter filled in the drom room and her eyes snapped up to meet his eyes. "What is so funny?" She asked annoyed at him.
"The fact that I can scare you that easily." He laughed and Winter slapped him playfully on his shoulder.
"Either way I'm actually being serious." Arculus came closer to her and just stared at her face. Looking at the details he had missed the last time, looking at her face in the hope he could make a copy of her face. Keep it printed in his mind because he didn't know when the last time would be he would see her.

His eyes stared at her brown eyes at first and later on traveled to her birthmark under her chin. She had an other birthmark on her nose which made him think about how she was a canvas, ready to be painted. Her curly hair was in a bun on the top of her head. Reminding him about how different they both were, but in some way also the same.
"What...are you doing?" Winter found herself asking when she felt his face move closer. His finger traced her lips, cheeks and nose. Arculus was afraid he would forget what touching her felt like. He was afraid he would forget and he didn't know why.
"I'll be here okay? Whatever that may be scaring you, I'll be here okay?" He told her as if he was in a rush.
Laughter escaped her lips and to him that was the closest sound to heaven. "Where did that came from all of a sudden?"
"You remember what I told you right?" He asked her unsure if she remembered.
"Call your name if I need you." Winter repeated his words and he smiled satisfied.
"I'll even come running." He told her and Winter could feel how her cheeks heated up. The longer his eyes stared at her to more he wanted to kiss her, so that was what he did. His lips made contact with her cheeks and Winter's heartbeat increased. Arculus smirked at himself, he didn't know he could have that much effect on her.
After he made sure Winter was okay he left her dorm room and teleported back to the forest. The first thing he saw was Amdusias sitting on the floor with a weird expression on his face.
Arculus wasn't annoyed or mad, but it would be a lie to say he didn't feel anything when he saw that knife flying towards Winter. The only reason why he was this calm was because the knife never made contact with her. Because if it did, everything would have been different right now and he wouldn't be so calm.
"You better kiss the ground she walks on Amdusias." Arculus said in a deadly tone.
A chuckle escaped Amdusias lips. "What? You would have killed me over a mere human?" The expression on Amdusias face changed. He looked rather amused and Arculus noticed.
"You want me to answer you?" Arculus asked and Amdusias nodded his head.
Arculus eyes switched back to his original color. "I won't hesitate to hurt anyone that lays a finger on her. With this said I'm warning you."
Black smoke appeared in the air and slowly shaped into a person. Orobas was watching the way Amdusias and Arculus were arguing while eating a donut. Orobas had no idea who this human girl was, but at the moment she seemed harmless. There was no need to be pressed over this matter, even though it was against the rules. However was it really against the rules? Arculus wasn't breaking the rules if he had no idea it even existed.
"Can you ever do something else than eat?" Amdusias asked annoyed while rolling his eyes.
"I have to already look after the both of you, let me enjoy this happiness while it last." Orobas turned around and saw the green lights dancing in cirkels. Watching them intensely without breaking eye contact.
"Why do I feel like I'm being judged?" Orobas asked out loud while keeping his eyes on the green lights.
Arculus chuckled."You probably are."
Since the meeting had been interrupted, they decided to have a small recap of everything that had to be done. If it had been Arculus, his main priority would be keeping the vampire kids safe. Yet Orobas and Amdusias weren't agreeing with him. The object was the main priority. No object means no safety, not only for all the vampires that are being held captive, but also for all the celestial beings.
They have been working on the plan for weeks now. Why it took so long was unknown to Arculus too. Even if the Sinners where strong, they couldn't possibly beat a legion of demons. Perhaps he was underestimating them, and they did have that kind of power. Arculus still couldn't imagine vampires being that strong. He had came across a vampire before. It was a hungry child searching for food in the middle of winter. The sympathy he had felt back than made him go for by killing a deer, just so the kid could have been fed.
That was his first time he had ever killed a other being. He would have been 14 back than wandering around and exploring new places. It was than that he understood that even if they didn't belong to the same species, a child was still a child. Since than he couldn't bring it upon him to hurt anyone.
"I will be going back to the underworld to explain it in person to the other demons." Amdusias informed us and vanished in thin air.
It had been just him and Orobas. Arculus couldn't help the way he was staring at Orobas. The question he wanted to ask was stuck in his throat. Unsure if it even was a good idea to bring this matter up.
Orobas sighed deeply. "Just spill it out."
"You told me before you gave answers about the past, present and future that some human can have right?" Arculus stared at Orobas waiting for conformation. Orobas nodded his head wondering where this is going.
"Who controls the past, present and future? How come you can give out answers regarding this matter?" Arculus asked him with raised eyebrows.
"Every demon has its powers Arculus. I have told you before every demon is ranked right? Well every demon is also ranked by the power they possess. I can give answers regarding the past, present and future because I can." Orobas stook a bite out of his donut.
"Sorry if you were expecting some science. I can stop events from happening, however I'm not aloud to interfere. You must make decisions yourself. So you control your own past, present and future." Orobas explained how his powers worked but the frown on Arculus face was still not going away.
"Everyone makes their own decisions. What if someone is interfering? Let's say you did change an event that was supposed to happen. Is their a kind of consequence?"
Orobas glanced at Arculus and raised his eyebrows. All the questions Arculus was asking made Orobas worried for some reason. His job was to inform him about all kind of things, but as his friend. His job was to keep him safe. If there was a person interfering than that means someone is playing with his destiny.
"The only consequence here, is the fact that all the events that where supposed to happen won't happen." Orobas put his donut down and listened to what Arculus had to say.
"Wait how come?"
"Let's say I was the one interfering. You wanted to go to sleep and I stopped you from going to sleep. You went to sleep because that's what you want to do, and I stopped you because I didn't want you to sleep. The decision you made to go to sleep was made by you. However I stopped you, which means I'm the one in control now. The decision you wanted to make was never made, so you never had your sleep." The frown on Arculus face started to disappear.
Arculus let the new information sink in, and realisation hit him afterwards. "So everything I intended to do was never put in action. I'm just doing what someone else wants me to do but unconsciously."
"Yeah basically what I said. Why are you asking?" Orobas had his eyes fixated on Arculus, hoping his expectations were wrong.
"My gut feeling is just telling something is wrong. I have a feeling I wasn't supposed to meet the human girl. There is just too much what if's. How much coincidence can there be?" Arculus watched the way the expression on Orobas face changed.
"If that is the case, someone isn't only toying with you but also with the human girl." Orobas closed his eyes and sighed. He was too lazy to fix this issue, but he knew he had to.
"Can't you just find the person who is doing this?" Arculus asked annoyed.
"What do you think this is? The supernaturals?" Orobas was annoyed by the fact there wasn't anything going right.
"We must find the person, but have you thought about this? What if someone brought the human girl to you because the person new you would never go to her?" Arculus wasn't staring at anything in particular but his eyes slowly landed back on Orobas.
"What do you mean? I know faith isn't a real thing." Arculus retorted back.
A chuckle escaped Orobas lips. "Oh it is a thing but that spirit has always been known for being lazy." Orobas was less irritated because he had a lead, but he knew this won't be easy.
"However I have met the spirit, she doesn't interfere unless it's necessary." Orobas remembered.
"Why would me meeting Winter be necessary?" Arculus frowned and remembered the first them they have met.
"I guess we will have to find that out Arculus, or we are screwed."
