Prelude: A Fallen Clan
Clan Hoshino Maintenance Facility
Sengoku Empire
The Great Plateau
Month of the Qilin 15, 172 ,328 DE
In the maintenance facility of Clan Hoshino, the Glory of Hoshino, the clan's only remaining Metal Giant stood in the center maintenance bay. Scaffolding surrounded Metal Giant, and the clan's Engineers and Apprentice Engineers swarmed over the scaffolding. Under the direction of three Master Engineers, the Journeyman and Apprentice Engineers were installing the last of the armor plates.
Having the rough shape of a human clad in a set of Bushi armor, the Glory of Hoshino stood nearly fifty meter tall. Beneath what looked like the helm from a set of Bushi armor, the "face" of the Metal Giant looked more like a demon than a human, but that was a common characteristic of all the Metal Giants.
At the back of the Glory of Hoshino, Grandmaster Engineer Hoshino Akito climbed into the Metal Giant's control crypt and looked around. Once the maintenance was completed, the control coffin of the Sacred Elder would be returned to mounting in the center of the crypt, and the Metal Giant would live once more. No matter the clan that owned it, every Metal Giant was piloted by a Sacred Elder of the clan.
The Sacred Elders were chosen form among the strongest elders of a clan. They were men or women, who had reached the end of their lifespan and would be unable to make a breakthrough to a higher realm of Cultivation before dying. Those elder, who were chosen and accepted the position, were sealed into the control coffins for Metal Giants, becoming Sacred Elders. The control coffins could extend the lifespan of a strong Cultivator by hundreds of years, if not more than a thousand, and as Sacred Elders, they would control a Metal Giant until the control coffins could no longer sustain their lives.

Taking a monocle from a dimensional storage ring, he held it up to his left eye and examined the plugs on the coffin connection cables. They had all been replace during the current maintenance cycle, and the gold alloy from which they were fabricated gleamed under the actinic glare of the electric lights. The monocle had a magnification of over one hundred times. He did not see any imperfections in the surface the plugs and nodded in satisfaction.
As Grandmaster Hoshino removed it from his storage ring, a machine appeared in midair, and he set down on the floor of the crypt. Before he could connect the testing machinery to the connections cables, a glint of reflected light caught his eye. With the exception of jacks on the connection cables, every surface in they crypt was dull grey of black metal. Grandmaster Hoshino squatted down and stared intently at a few drop of oily fluid, which had reflected the light. He wiped his fingertip through one of the drop, and seeing the polychromatic sheen of the dark fluid, he rubbed it between his index finger and thumb.
"Oil?" Grandmaster Hoshino mumbled to himself and sniffed the fluid on his fingers. With a grimace at the foul smell, he pulled a rag out of pocket and wiped his fingers before wiping the other drops off the floor.
Standing up, Grandmaster Hoshino frowned and carefully examined the ceiling of the crypts and dozens of pipe and cable crisscrossing it. After taking a clear crystal from his storage ring, he inserted Yuan Qi into it and show the resulting beam of light on the ceiling, but he could not find any source for the drops of foul smelling oil. After putting away the crystal, Grandmaster Hoshino scowled at nothing in particular.
"Damned juniors get sloppier and lazier with each generation. The Masters need to train their Apprentices and Journeyman better. Time for docking some merit points from everyone in the Engineering Department." While complaining about his subordinates, Grandmaster Hoshino connected the jacks to the testing machine for a final check before reinstalling the Sacred Elder's coffin.

When finished his tests and left the crypt, seeming unaware of what he was doing, Grandmaster Hoshino was repeatedly rubbing his right hand on the coveralls he wore. His eyes almost seemed to glow like an animal's in the dim light of the maintenance hanger, and as they saw the ferocious expression on his face, the clan's other Engineers looked away,.burying themselves in their work.

Unseen in the shadows at the back corner of the maintenance hanger, the man called Cross watched as a group of Apprentice Engineers pushed a large cart into the hanger. Laying on the center of the cart, the coffin was made from dull black metal. Its irregular shape made it look like a hexagon with its lower half stretched out. The hundreds of sigils adorning its rough surface glowed in a myriad of colors, and even from over sixty meters away, Cross could feel the intensity of the raw Power fused into the coffin.
The occupant should be a Martial Lord, but I cannot detect a trace of his presence through the coffin. I can not tell if My Lady's Chaos infusion will be able to affect the occupant or not. While staring at the coffin as it was hauled up to the Metal Giant's crypt with a crane, Cross frowned, but as soon as it disappear from sight, his face returned to an expressionless mask.
A shadow among shadows, Cross left the hanger.

Delve
Summary – Level 1: Delve is an isekai litrpg that follows an average guy who just happened to wake up in a forest one day. He wasn’t summoned to defeat the demon lord or to save the world or anything like that, at least as far as he can tell. The only creature there to greet him was a regular old squirrel. Soon enough, he meets other people, only to discover that he can’t speak the language, and that not everybody immediately trusts random pajama-wearing strangers they met in the middle of the wilderness. Things generally go downhill from there, at least until the blue boxes start appearing. Delve is a story about finding your way in a new, strange, and dangerous world. It’s about avoiding death, figuring out what the heck is going on, and trying to make some friends along the way. It’s not about getting home, so much as finding a new one. Did I mention that there will be math? Summary – Level 2: Okay, but what are you in for, really? Well, this story is supposed to be realistic, or at least, as realistic as a fantasy litrpg can be. The main character doesn’t instantly become an all-powerful god and murder-hobo his way across the universe. Delve is, at its heart, a progression fantasy, but that progression is meant to feel earned. The numbers in this story actually mean something. Everything is calculated, and if you find a rounding error, I expect you to tell me about it. That said, if math isn’t your cup of tea, there is plenty more that the story has to offer. Characters are meant to feel real, and progression isn’t only about personal power; it’s also about allies, connections, and above all, knowledge. Figuring out how the system works is a significant theme. ... What, you want more details? Okay, fine, but this is going to get a bit spoiler-y. Are you sure? Yes! Really sure? I mean, this summary is practically half as long as the first chap– Now! Okay, okay! The main character becomes a magic user, but he takes a route that is not very popular in adventurer culture, namely that of a support. There is a full magic system with various spells, skills, and abilities, but our MC decides that aura magic is the way to go, and that the only stat worth investing in is mana regeneration. Most people at the Adventurer’s Guild think that this makes him a bit of a dumbass, but he’s playing the long game. We’ll see how that works out for him, won’t we? Because of his build, the MC levels up fast, at least compared to normal people. There are no cheats, though, and he is limited in other ways. There are some clear and pretty obvious downsides to his build. That’s what makes it fun, no? Morals? Our MC has them. Again, we’ll see how that works out for him. Realism, remember? Would you be okay with killing someone and looting their body? I sure hope not. POV? The focus is on the main character, but there will be occasional varying perspectives from people around him, or involved in the events related to the main plot. It isn’t going to jump all over the place. Tech is standard medieval stasis. No smartphones, but the MC does have a technical background. Computers and their programming might be involved. There might even be a bit of uplifting down the road, who knows? Anyway, it isn’t the focus. He isn’t going to invent the gun in chapter 1 and change the face of warfare. Romance is not a major focus. Friendships are more the name of the game, though there will be some characters in romantic relationships. There is exploration, though not as much of the geographical nature as you might expect. It is more about exploration of the system and the culture. The pace is slow and detailed, sometimes verging on slice-of-life. The action is meant to be realistic and grounded in the numbers, and it is intended to have meaning beyond simply punching things until they stop moving. The general tone of the story is grey, and some parts can get quite dark. People die. Sometimes, people with names, but not anywhere near GoT level. There is plenty of light, too, though, to balance the darkness. The world is dangerous, but overcoming that danger is why we’re all here, isn’t it? Anyway, if you’ve made it this far through the summary, you clearly like words. I hope you enjoy the story! Cover by Miha Brumec Summary Updated: 2020-06-14

Sufficiently Advanced
A Novella about magic vs aliens vs science. It's a raucous, campy sci-fi read involving humans gaining magic, a possibly pizza-hating alien empire, the decapitation of the US Federal Government, eldritch abominations, lesbian space witches and some medium-hard science.I wouldn't say it's not serious, but I wouldn't say it's serious. Eh, it's not serious. Wait... it's getting serious.
