This set of character bios covers all the members of the Sunnycrest High varsity cheerleading squad. If you've made it this far in this story, you know Chase, Alicia, Caitlin, Lindsey, Victoria and Melissa C. quite well, but there are other squad members who have essentially just been names up to this point. This was an intentional choice since they don't really have any relevance to the plot (aside from Rebecca in the Hell's Kitchen storyline). At first they were just names to me too, only there because cheerleading squads generally have more than six people on them. However, when I write these characters, I can't help but form a picture in my mind of what they look like, and over time I have colored in aspects of their personality even though I know it will most likely never be a factor in the story. Rather than let these details go to waste, I share them here. Hopefully they help paint a picture of Sunnycrest cheer practice the way I've come to visualize it.

One more thing. I made a cheerleader personality rating system which is incorporated into each bio. This system breaks down into three scales measuring Intelligence, Virtuousness, and Flippancy:

Each scale has five notches, and the characters are rated on them between the two extremes. If you've heard of the Meyers-Briggs personality system, this is kind of like that except I made it. Anyways, on with it!

Everything you could want in a cheerleading captain. Bright, friendly, caring, and imbued with school spirit. Alicia was raised in a football household and first took interest in cheerleading to be close to the game. Her natural cheerleaderliness allowed her to assume the role of cheer captain as a junior, an uncommon feat.

Victoria C. H. Bassett

The daughter of a former Sunnycrest cheer captain, Victoria was long assumed to one day inherit her mother's title, until Alicia pulled off a surprise upset, beating her in a narrow vote at the beginning of this school year. Despite her reputation for being mean, her work ethic, athletic ability, and unshakable confidence cannot be disputed, and have earned her the sometimes-begrudging respect of her squad.

Caitlin Boyd

The cautious daughter of a police officer. An avid reader and excellent student, Caitlin initially got into cheerleading because she felt it was the kind of extracurricular that would look good on a college application, before discovering she had a knack for it. Her sensitive and lawful nature sometimes put her at odds with her more wild squadmates.

Lindsey Ericson

A free spirit. Unrestricted, always pursuing and indulging in the pleasures of life. Irresistible to men, she is somewhat notorious for keeping numerous boyfriends at once. Her poor background has made her street smart, in a sense, even though there are no streets in her trailer park. Has been in more than one fight and has been arrested more than once. An unlikely longtime friend of Caitlin Boyd.

A girl with a calm, in-control demeanor, often seen as a cool big sister by her squadmates. Despite this, her main friend group was outside the cheerleading squad. She and her friends were abducted under mysterious circumstances. Only Melissa survived, albeit without her memories. She is still treated and respected as the same old Melissa, even though she herself does not know who that person is.

Melissa Jones

Was adopted. A reserved girl who responds with patience when people confuse her with her senior, Melissa C. Being the only girl on the squad from the sophomore class, most of her friend group is outside of cheerleading. Is perfectly fine not being the center of attention. At times she feels out of her depth as the squad's only underclassman, but the others make it clear they have high hopes for her. Is secretly a big fan of science fiction, particularly Star Trek.

Samantha Kensington

Samantha ran track in her freshman year before trying out for cheerleading as a sophomore. Her mom served in the air force, and her family moved around often early in Samantha's life before settling in Sunnycrest when she was thirteen. She keeps in touch with many of the friends she made at her old schools and has dated the same boy for all four years of high school.

Rebecca Walsh

A girl with a bit of a tomboyish side, Rebecca's father works in the logging industry, which has given her some familiarity with tools and heavy machinery. A few months ago she worked a summer job as a cook at her dad's logging camp, and made good money doing it.

A fashionable but straight-laced girl from a devout Christian upbringing. Always wears a pair of dangling cross-shaped earrings. Part of a power trio with Rebecca and Samantha. These two and the rest of the squad have fun persuading Danielle to let loose and have a little fun. Her parents are understanding of her teenage boundary pushing because they know they can trust her not to go too far.

An elegant and haughty girl, Heather is a good student who can be forceful when it comes to getting her way. Boys consider her a bit of a snob or ice queen. A natural a-type personality, she and Victoria have been hot-and-cold frenemies since elementary school, and she was one of the strongest advocates for Victoria to be squad captain. However, being a bit more socially shrewd than Victoria, she also gets along with Alicia and supports her captaincy, at least outwardly.

Rarely spending time with other squad members outside of practice and games, little is known about her. Nicknamed Tiffers, she occasionally seems out of place with the rest of the squad due to her dry sense of humor and eccentric, mischievous behavior, however she is also considered friendly and easy to get along with. Some say she isn't all there, others say she is just looking for attention.

Nicole Broeke-Ortiz

A wild child, Nicole parties harder than anyone on the squad. Outgoing and always looking for a good time, she can always liven up a dull evening, but the other girls have learned to keep her on a short leash lest she go too far and get them all in trouble. Likes to dress in flashy but girly styles, and her purple hair is a part of this image. She and Lindsey are the only girls on the squad to have spent a night in jail.

An early bloomer, as well as an abundant one. At age twelve, people thought she was a high schooler, and at seventeen, she is frequently mistaken for a woman in her twenties. Brittany's looks have made her the target of jealous rumors of promiscuity since middle school. As a result, though she still possesses a calm confidence with boys, she has grown to be overly reserved with them, out of fear of doing something to get people talking.
