excuse mistakes...
"Mommy you okay?" Nevaeh asked walking into the master bedroom.
Heaven looked up from her MacBook, sniffling, with a small smile on her face. "Yeah baby, what's wrong?" She replied, closing the laptop and putting in on her nightstand. Nevaeh shrugged her shoulders, walking over and laying down next to her mom.
"Just was worried about you." Nevaeh mumbled. "And I already laid out all of our school clothes for tomorrow. Me and Zuri are wearing our skirt uniform and papa and Loni are wearing their pants uniform."
Heaven smiled, holding her arms out for Nevaeh. Nevaeh happily crawled into her mom's embrace, sighing. "Baby I'm so proud of you. You're an amazing big sister."
"I have to step up whenever you're sad or need to clear your head." Nevaeh shrugged.
Heaven lowly sighed before speaking again. "Dooda I don't want you to ever feel like your siblings are your responsibility. I appreciate you for helping out, but remember that you're still a child yourself so don't think that you're not entitled to not be one. You hear me?"
"Yeah mama I know, but I just like helping out." Nevaeh nodded.
Heaven chuckled, shaking her head. "Are you going to help Solana out with baby Lai?" She asked, rubbing her hands through Nevaeh's scalp.
Nevaeh chewed on the inside of her cheek, nodding her head. "Mama it just—it all happened so fast. I never meant to be disrespectful or to act that way with SoSo, but I was just so angry and my feelings were hurt. I didn't know how else to respond. SoSo's been my bestfriend for a long time, and I just never expected for her to have a baby so quickly." She expressed.
Heaven listened to everything her daughter was saying. so glad that Nevaeh was finally expressing how she really felt. "I know baby. You're entitled to your emotions and to feel however you want to feel, but your reaction was very mean. You have to work on expressing yourself more in a better tone and way. Solana is growing into a young woman, and she's starting her own little family. We will forever be her family. Understand?"
"Yes ma'am." Nevaeh nodded.
"You will apologize to her, and you should express how you feel about everything just like you just did to me." Heaven stated.
"Yes ma'am. Can I sleep in here with you?" Nevaeh replied, feeling her eyes get heavy.
"Yeah." Heaven chuckled. She looked at the doorknob twisting on her door, pouting seeing Zuri crying. "Come here mama, what's wrong?"
"I want you." Zuri sniffled. Nevaeh scooted over to Zylin's side of the bed, allowing for Zuri to be closer to Heaven. Zylin had fell asleep in his man cave, so Heaven and the girls had the bed to themselves.
"I'm right here mama. Did you have a bad dream?" Heaven asked, rubbing Zuri's back as she crawled into her lap facing her. Zuri shook her head, laying her head on Heaven's chest.
"I just wanted you." Zuri sniffled. "Kiss?" She asked, tilting her head. Heaven chuckled, pecking her daughter's lips, before starting to rub small circles on her back.
"I love y'all." Heaven whispered softly, as the room went quiet.
"I love you too mama." Nevaeh replied, snuggling up into Heaven's side.
"I love you mommy." Zuri yawned, putting her hand in Heaven's scalp soothing herself to sleep.

Solana groaned, feeling Solai stir and whine in her sleep. Her first instinct was to wrap her arms around her as she slept on her chest. It was their usual sleeping position being that Solai didn't want to sleep anywhere unless it was on top of Solana.

Solana felt Solai grip her neck, making her flutter her eyes open. "Mommy's here." She whispered, rubbing Solai's back. Solai's whines turned into small cries, prompting Solana to wake up fully.
She stood to her feet, carrying Solai on her hip to the kitchen. It was a little past three in the morning, and she knew that Solai was most likely thirsty. As they entered the kitchen, Solana went into the refrigerator grabbing Solai's cup with almond milk.
"Here you go baby." Solana mumbled, trying to keep her eyes open. She held the cup up to Solai's mouth before Solai grabbed the cup drinking from it.
"Mommy is so tired." Solana said softly, going to sit on the couch. She laid down on the couch, covering her and Solai with the huge throw blanket that was strictly for the living room.
Her eyes popped open, hearing her door being kicked off the hinges. She immediately tried to run to her room with Solai, but was unsuccessful when she was kicked to the ground.
"Bitch you ain't going nowhere until you tell me where the money is!" The mysterious robber gritted, holding a gun directly in Solana's now wet face.
Solai's cries were loud as ever, along with Solana's. "I—please I'll get you money, just don't hurt us!" Solana shouted, closing her eyes as her body trembled.
"Give me the baby!" The man mugged, trying to grab Solai from Solana's tight hold. Solana shook her head, holding onto Solai for dear life.
"No, let her go! I'll go get the money!" Solana yelled.
The man mugged, punching Solana in the face making a loud scream etch from her mouth. "Get off of us!" She yelled as loud as she could, hoping that someone heard her screams and cries.
"Mommy no no!" Solai sobbed, peeing herself.
The mysterious man snatched Solai from Solana, kicking Solana in the stomach. Solana ignored the rush of pain she felt, scrambling to her feet. "I—I have the money! Give her back please. I'll give you anything. You can take anything!" She begged.
Fed up at Solana's voice, the man tossed Solai onto the couch before holding the gun to Solana's throat. "Walk." He simply stated, pointing towards her bedroom.
Solana shakily did as told, praying that the cops were pulling in any minute now. "Yo-You can have all my cards. I-plea—please." She said feeling her chest get tighter and tighter, breath getting caught in her throat.
"Mommy." Solai sobbed from the living room.
"Give me every piece of jewelry and val—Before the man could even finish his sentence he was tackled to the ground getting punched in the face. Solana turned around, seeing the same guy that she had met in the hospital elevator on top of the man who was trying to rob her.
"O-Oh my god." Solana said, feeling herself get weaker and weaker. Her mind raced 100mph as she tried to stop herself from having a panic attack.
Hearing Solai's cries made her snap back to reality, making her run to the living room. She swiftly picked her up before grabbing her phone, immediately dialing the family group chat. "I-I'm sorry. Ssh, I'm sorry. I'm a horrible mother." She cried.
As soon as the call connected, Solana broke down. "Help me someo—someone broke into my apartment. H—Help me please!" She cried, seeing the guy who saved her drag the robber out of her room.
"I'm on my fucking way! Don't you dare call the cops. Me and Cane on the way!" Zylin shouted, jumping to his feet not even giving his body time to adjust. He slipped on the first pair of shoes he saw and sped out of the house.

Heaven jumped out of the bed, immediately going into the closet putting her fingerprint on the metal box. Once it opened, she grabbed her gun racing out the house behind Zylin. "We on the way baby!" She said. "Nigga fucking with me at the wrong time bro on my life!"
"We on the way So." Zylin repeated, hearing her sobs get shakier by the minute. He shook his head, trying to get to Solana as quick as possible.
"SoSo where that nigga at now?" Cane asked, already in his car as well, driving to Solana's apartment.
"M-My neighbor beat him up. He's right here." Solana sniffled, pacing in the kitchen. "Please hurry. I'm so sc—scared." She pleaded, voice cracking.
~
Zylin continuously punched the man over and over again, not caring about the damage he was doing. He saw nothing but red, and all he could hear was Solana's cries which made him even angrier.
"Fuck man." Heaven sighed, lifting Solana's face seeing her eye start to bruise. She gently put the ice-pack on her eye, feeling her tense up. "Lana, stop." She said, as Solana tried to move away from the coldness.
"It's cold." Solana sniffled, holding the hand that Heaven held up to her eye. "Ma it's cold." She repeated, trying to back away again.
Heaven sighed softly. "Baby I know it's cold, but we need to try and stop the bruising before it can even start.." She said. "You sure you don't want to go the hospital?"
"No, I just wanna go home with y'all." She whispered, looking down at Solai who had cried herself to sleep. "W-What if they try and take her from me?"
"We'll talk to Georgia tomorrow babe." Heaven nodded.
"Alright nigga." Cane chuckled, seeing the man now unrecognizable. "He so damn lucky the girls up in there, I wannna shoot his ass bad as fuck."
"Nigga you fucked with the wrong one. That's my fucking daughter bitch nigga! I should fucking kill you coward ass bitch!" Zylin yelled, pulling out his gun holding right in between the robber's eyes. He couldn't even feel the tears coming down his face.
"You lucky..you lucky!" He mugged, pressing the gun harder onto the man's forehead.
"Oh trust and believe we gone find your ass soon, and when we do you a dead guy." Cane chuckled, bending down pistol whipping the guy. "Get your ass out of here." He sinisterly chuckled.
"And who the fuck is you my nigga?! On foenem, a nigga better stop playing with me in this bitch! Solana where the fuck you at?!" Zylin raged.
"Calm your ass. I just moved here a couple weeks ago. I was just coming home from work and I saw her door kicked in. I heard screaming so I came in to help." Kyari explained.
Zylin scoffed. "Preciate it." He said, before turning his attention to Solana. "Pack all you and Lai stuff and let's go."
"Look at her fucking eye man." He mugged, getting angry all over again. Solana and Heaven walked to the room, packing everything they could into suitcases.
"Man bro we gotta get on that shit asap. I want that nigga dead." Zylin fussed. "He would've probably been better off trying to rob me, real shit."
"I'm on allat." Cane nodded, before chuckling. "Why Heaven pistol whipped his ass like that though? That girl crazy foreal."
"On foenem." Zylin shook his head. "Preciate that foreal though youngin." He said, turning his attention to Kyari.
"Ain't shit. I would want somebody to help my loved ones too. I ain't even notice she was the same girl from the hospital either." He replied.
"What you mean?" Zylin asked.
"We met in the elevator at the hospital once." Kyari shrugged.
"Oh, that's all it's gone be these two meet and greets that's it. Don't even think about nothing else." Zylin shrugged.
"Nigga SoSo ain't no baby." Cane laughed, hitting Zylin's shoulder.
"Yes she is. Get the fuck on." Zylin replied. "Can y'all hurry up?!" He yelled to Heaven and Solana.
"Nigga calm your ass down, and act like you got some sense before I put some in you." Heaven shouted back, with a mug.
~
the next afternoon..
"It ain't up for discussion Solana. You can pout, whine, cry, or scream I really don't care." Zylin shrugged. "I told your ass not to get that apartment that far anyways."
Solana groaned, sitting back in her chair. Once she saw Heaven enter the room she crossed her arms over her chest before clearing her throat. "Ma, do I have to stay here for six months? He's talking about I can't get my own place again."
"Heaven not changing shit." Zylin shrugged.
"But that's not fair. You said you were going to give me self-defense classes. Once I get that down pack, I can defend myself." Solana frowned.
"Why six months though?" Heaven chuckled. "I was thinking we could just buy her the house next door. They almost done building it, and it's still up for grabs."
"If she stay there, she might as well stay here." Zylin replied.
"But I want my own space. Plus, Solai is going to need her own room eventually." Solana whined. Zylin had came up with the bright idea of Solana staying with them for half of a year. If he really had it his way, she would be there permanently.
"She's right babe. She can just get the house next to us. We can still watch her, while she's also being independent having her own space." Heaven agreed.
"Whatever." Zylin mugged, getting up and walking away.
Heaven chuckled, shaking her head. "Baby Lai still sleep. I told you that that warm milk was gone knock her right the hell out." She said, leaning on the kitchen island.
Solana groaned, running her hands through her hair. "So, I talked to Georgia and she said that she has to report the incident to the state, and that it'll have to go through a full investigation which will halt the entire adoption process."
"Investigation for what?" Heaven frowned.
"I don't even know, she asked if I had a police report, and if the guy was arrested. I told her I did have the report, but that the guy ran off before they got there."
"Damn, good thing we did get that report then. Did she say that Solai could stay with you until this whole thing is over?" Heaven asked.
"She said she'd have to set up a meeting for tomorrow to discuss further details." Solana nodded.
"Georgia better know what's best for her. I understand she's doing her job though. However, I'm sure she can somehow convince her superior to let Solai stay with you." Heaven sighed.
"Hopefully.." Solana mumbled. "Are you going to see Paisyn?" She asked, watching Heaven tense up.
"Yeah. I got a call this morning from the coroner. Autopsy came back already." Heaven nodded, voice shaking. "I-I failed that freaking girl man. I can't get that shit out of my head. That girl was sixteen, and was killed because I didn't get to her soon enough." She said, tearing falling out of her eyes uncontrollably.
Unfortunately Paisyn had succumbed to her many injuries. When Heaven and Jayda finally got her to the hospital, she was already gone. She had died in Heaven's arms. The doctors of course tried to do everything to attempt to revive her, but the trauma to her body was just too much.
"Ma, don't do that. Please don't. You tried your best. You helped her as much as you could. You and Jay got her to that hospital. You did everything you could." Solana said.
"It just don't feel like it." Heaven sniffled.
~
