《Between Reality: G.Y Aspect》31: The KICC Building

Katelyn sat with legs crossed at one of the University Study Shades. Her foot was slightly kicking on air as she continuously glanced at her wristwatch. On top of the table at the study shade were books and papers of her course units.

After a long while, as she impatiently checked her watch, she finally saw the person she had been waiting for. She exhaled in relief while admiring the person in a fitting white shirt and black jeans. It had now become obvious and clear that she felt warm inside her bloodstream every time she saw the person.

Lei got to the lady and by seeing her expression, realized she was either not pleased or faking it.

"I can explain." He apologetically started before sitting, "I really can."

Katelyn looked up at him from her seat and crossed her arms, her face intentionally livid, "I hope you can, because if it doesn't add to the twenty-five minutes late, you are out!"

Lei deeply sighed and slowly took a seat opposite her. He looked humble and quiet, "You know, Kate, we are still new in this place, and... it is so big... so, I got lost." His eyes appeared genuinely candid.

Katelyn was amused, but suppressed it, "You got lost in an institution that has labeled directions and guidance all around it?"

"My dear, this place is overwhelming enough to get freshers stupid and confused, to the point of finding written directions blurred..."

"And you got stupid and confused for a whole twenty-five minutes?"

Lei feigned a sigh, "You should see my friends, they can even get to an hour or two."

Katelyn was increasingly amused in the conversation, "Lei, never lie when you are stupid and confused. It really ends up a terrible lie. I WANT THE TRUTH!"

Her sudden fierce tone fidgeted Lei. He stared at her timorously, "Okay... I will tell the truth." His expression changed to one of feigned sorrow, "One of my friends called me. Her boyfriend wanted... or let us just say he ended up committing suicide because I was late. He jumped off the KICC building, right from the 100th top floor!"

Katelyn's arms were still crossed as she now put on an amused smile. It became impossible to suppress and hide the gentleman’s sense of humor, "KICC is a 30-story building." She put across amusedly.

"It is?"

"Yes, it is."

"Then what the hell...!" Lei's surprised expression looked playful, "This guy was then a joke! 30-story is 100 meters... how can you die in 100 meters high place? I have seen people survive 150 and even 200."

The progress of the biggest lie she had ever heard further amused Katelyn delightfully, "100 meters is 300 feet. People die in as low as 6 feet high place when they fall."

"Woman, I know my physics." Lei still looked playful, "I am 6 feet and I cannot die if I fall."

Katelyn amusedly and vivaciously laughed, "Then I guess Einstein could have been proud of your physics."

Lei was silent looking at her beauty as she laughed. This woman has to be the most beautiful God has ever created!

"What?" Katelyn now smiled looking at him.

Lei vaguely smiled back, "It's just that... I am the most luckiest man on earth, and I still can't believe that I am the one."

Katelyn slowly cleared her smile, able to understand the words' inner meaning. She felt a fluttering excitement at the meaning, just like always when the gentleman complimented her and made her feel highly valued.

She cleared her smile and put her hands on the table, looking at him deeply, "Promise me you will never ever again make me anywhere wait this long."

Lei looked at her in the eyes and saw how brightly allusive and purposeful they were. He slowly reached for her hands and gently held them without her denial, "Today, on 18th of April in the afternoon, I promise you that I will never again make you wait anywhere for a long time." He said succinctly.

Katelyn's eyes showed conviction as she brought back a smile on her face, then gently took her hands from his, "Okay. Let us now start." She turned to her books and papers.

"No problem." Lei sat with his hands folded on the table.

As she reached for a book, Katelyn suddenly looked up, "Oh, God, I have forgotten the laptop." She then looked at Lei clearly, "You have not come with any studying material?"

"I knew you would." Lei easily said, "And a laptop? In introductions? What is it with you kids and laptops these days?"

Katelyn amusedly laughed, "What we will be doing is wide. Research is necessary. Remember this group has to be the best."

Lei sat up, folding his hands with fingers interlinked on the table, "Okay. So, where is the laptop?"

"In my hostel room."

"We can as well go and study there."

Katelyn looked at him disapprovingly, her tone strict, "No, absolutely not!"

"Come on, it's only an hour of study."

"No!" Katelyn still disapproved, "I... like it outside here. We will do the study here." An idea with her and the man who had complete control over her feelings in a room alone together did not seem right. She was almost certainly sure that she would be weakened to admittance if the man developed urges at her. She knew exactly how she felt for him, and such feelings could easily control the mind to the admittance of urges.

Lei could be able to read her mind based on the expression she was portraying, "Katelyn, do you like it outside here or are you having ideas about the two of us in a room all alone?"

His tone and countenance gladdened Katelyn nervously. She looked at him with bright eyes and a glowing face, unable to say anything.

Lei once again led his hands to hers and gently held them, "My dear, I will never try anything that can make you uncomfortable or force you to something against your will. I respect you, value you, and hold you dear in my life. If anything, I will always do something that will please you, and something that I will be positive you will like. Always keep that in mind."

The words deeply and ardently penetrated inside Katelyn's heart as she helplessly still stared at him. She found his openness and transparency valid and charismatic, making her trust him, "Okay..." She calmly nodded, and once again got her hands from the gentleman's, "But I am warning you, though. My place, my rules."

"Deal." Lei happily smiled.

She collected and picked the books and papers on the table and they left together.
