《Between Reality: G.Y Aspect》29: Introduction To Freshers

The morning sun was warmly shining at Crownzone University, promising a perfect start for the class introduction to the freshers..

Nadia Diwah slowly walked to her lecture class, a couple of books clutched to her chest and talking on her cell phone. Upon getting to a two-way junction pavement that led to her lecture class and absorbed in the phone conversation, she unknowingly collided with a person, sending her books flying in the air and herself down on the ground.

Tyson looked down at the lady he had just collided with and quickly reached out for her on the ground. For the love of God, Tyson you could have hurt the delicate thing… or is she hurt? He had no idea that his concentration on some papers that blocked him from seeing the way could lead to a tragedy, "I am so sorry! Please, allow me." He offered assistance to get her up, and immediately noticed her exquisite look. Good lord! So, the beautiful ones are already born! He had never seen such beauty in his entire life, much less in a confused face. He gave her a smile.

Nadia looked up at the gentleman while he helped her to her feet, "I think it was my fault." She also managed a smile. A soft, strikingly refined smile, "I am sorry."

The exquisite smile began to awaken something in Tyson’s body that he couldn’t quite point out what it was. Nevertheless, he came back to what was at hand, "I am pretty sure it is me who is responsible." He insisted, "I am the one at fault." He then cleared his face and quickly observed, "By the way, are you okay? Are you hurt or anything?"

"No, I am not hurt. Thank you."

Tyson nodded, his eyes entirely on her with a smile, “I guess that is good.”

Nadia stood smiling as well, then a temporary silence fell between them, both unable to say anything.

"I... I was on a phone..." Nadia suddenly started looking around on the ground.

"I believe this is it?" Tyson offered after finding the phone on the ground.

"Yes, thank you." Nadia graciously smiled and continued talking on the phone.

Tyson got down and started collecting her scattered books, "Here you go..." He gave her the books after she was done on the phone, then appeared subdued and shaded, "Once again I am really sorry."

"Thank you, but it wasn't you. You see, I was on the phone_"

"And I was looking at some papers that caused me destruction." Tyson still insisted, knowing that he was the sole reason for the accident.

Nadia looked at him with a tender expression, "Okay, then, let us both share the fault."

"But I get the bigger share of it." Tyson smiled as the lady softly laughed. Seeing the laugh that gave her a dazzling and magnificent beauty once again awakened the unknown feeling in Tyson’s body, drawing toward her with relentless force. It can’t be love! My heart already has love in it, Lindah’s love. It can only be a feeling of attraction I am having towards her. But why does it seem more powerful than attraction?

He outstretched his hand, "My name is Tyson Makena, friends call me Ty."

Nadia shook the hand, "I am Nadia Diwah."

"Hmm, beautiful name." Tyson complimented with extolment.

"Thank you." Nadia shyly smiled at the compliment, "So... I guess this is it. I will be going to class now." She decided to end the strange meeting, looking at her class in front of them.

"Are you a student of Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery?" Tyson suddenly asked, noticing the lady looking at the class he was to join.

"Yes, I am." Nadia nodded.

"Wow! Then I think our meeting had to do with something. I am also a student of medicine and surgery." Tyson happily said.

"Okay... let us go, then." Nadia said and together walked to the lecture class.

The class was almost full as students continued getting in. Nadia and Tyson walked to one of the empty seats and sat close to each other.

"Are you comfortable in this spot?" Tyson asked Nadia.

Nadia demurely smiled at the concern, "Yes, I am."

Tyson nodded looking at her, "This is a course that requires a lot of commitment and dedication. We will be very busy in our profession."

Nadia nodded, "I understand."

Tyson for a moment was absorbed by her beauty as he still looked at her. The beautiful clear complexion with beautiful dimples whenever she smiled, beautiful eyes with long eyelashes in moderate maquillage, coiffure hairstyle which framed her face more beautifully... the beauty was exquisitely simple, satisfying eyes and mind.

He looked at her tenderly, his shrewd gaze fixed appraisingly upon her "Nadia, within this few minutes I have known you, I can be able to tell the person that you are. You are beautiful, respectful, kind and courteous- which should at least make you a moral and religious person. Your dress code is modernly impressive but self-respecting, which makes you upright, high-minded, brave and liberal. You are studying one of the biggest courses in the university, which makes you intelligent, bright and smart. All of it means that your future will be bright but busy; late working hours, emergency calls even on weekends and night hours, plus regular tight schedules." He paused, looking at her in the eyes, "I only hope your future partner understands the life you be living. A man who will love both you and your life."

Nadia was impressed by the gentleman's sense of perception. He looks intelligent and wise. I believe we can be good friends. "You don't have to worry about my future partner, Tyson. You are right, I am a religious person and put my life and future in the Almighty's hands." She said in an amiable tone of voice with a smile that dimpled her cheeks beautifully, "I trust the Almighty with my future. If I pray for an understanding, loving and caring partner, I know He will not disappoint me."

"That is absolutely lovely!" Tyson smiled rhapsodically, "I admire that, and I guess it makes me not to worry."

Nadia laughed, "Thank you."

As they continued chatting, the lecturer in charge of the morning class walked in the hall. She was in a red and gold churidar suit, black leggings and gold heels; her Indian features stunningly eloquent in the attire.

She put the books in her hands on the lecture table and brightly smiled at the class before her, "Good morning class?"

The class responded excitedly, their tone and expressions full of great anticipation and anxiety of their first class at the university.

"I am called professor Sheen Ramchelle, one of the medical professors in the University's Medical School." The lecturer spoke with liveliness, her voice with a vague trace of an Indian accent, "I will be taking you in various subjects and course units in the medical field." She began walking to the front row of the lecture hall, "It is great to have another fresh class of medicine and surgery students at the university."

"Medicine and Surgery is not an easy course, my students. Every year and semester your fellows drop the course because they get stuck on the way due to its heavy load as a studying field. This course needs commitment, hard work, and most importantly, passion. That is how you will find it smooth going and brightly succeed in it."

"The students who drop it mostly find themselves in activities that compromise their studies. If you want to be successful in this course, you will have to deny yourself campus life, live a positive life and dedicate all your time to the course. It is a wide course that needs undivided commitment and hard work because you will be dealing with human life. You will be dealing with human systems and their functions. These places are extremely delicate and will need full attention, and full attention will only come when you appear in parties and fun joints only once in a while and when you give total dedication and commitment to your work."

The class was intently at her.

"The last thing, my students, is that you should at least have a passion for the course. Don't study it because a friend is studying it or your parents want you to. Let it be something you want to do. Interest and passion will make you committed to it no matter what happens. But if you don't have interest in it, you may drop the course if things get ugly and difficult." The professor finalized her introduction and got back to the lecture table, taking one of her books and opening it before the class, "We are going to start the course with allergic bronchopulmonary, known as APBA, disseminated cutaneous leishmaniasis, known as DCL and Venezuelan equine encephalitis virus, known as VEEV." She said briskly.

The whole class exchanged perplexed and stupefied gazes, almost all were certain there had to be something wrong from the strange terminologies the professor had mentioned. Of course they sounded medical terminologies, yet they sounded something altogether alien.

The lecturer widely grinned at them. Her usual introduction to the freshers always got them stare in confusion, "It's okay, my boys and girls. I reckon most of you are already thinking of dropping the course after the strange names. But worry not, you will hear of the names later on in the course."

"What you should know is that this course mainly involves project and practical works, meaning you will be spending a lot of time in the field and laboratory. Even majority of your tests and examinations will be in the field and the lab. Very little is theory work in this course."

"We are immediately going to leave for the lab, where we will start with the very beginning introduction you all knew back in high school- introduction to lab and its use and regulations. Slowly we will advance to the importance and integration of lab, training of personnel, equipping lab and equipment maintenance, clinical chem test, as we advance to more technical areas." She smiled at her students, "Trust me, it's going to be fun all the way until you become a surgeon and a medical personnel. But the fun will only be possible when you understand everything. If you don't understand, consult. This is a very important stage in your life where you will need a full understanding of what you are doing. If you were naïve and ignorant in high school, never do that here. Just take the course with the seriousness it deserves. Good luck and follow me." She took her books and started to the door. The class followed behind her.

Lei walked inside the lecture hall and continued to the many empty front row seats and sat next to Katelyn, surprising her.

"Can you tell me why you like these front seats." He started at the lady.

Katelyn looked at him amusedly, "If I tell you, will you go and sit somewhere else and promise never to sit next to me again?"

Lei considered for a moment, "Uh...hmmm, well, I would rather get the answer myself."

"I thought so." Katelyn looked in front of the class, her legs crossed.

"Kate." Lei kept at her, "I would like us to be friends and connect freely without your... hard game."

"Hard game?" Katelyn turned to him.

"The hard game will be you... difficult to talk to."

"Difficult to talk to?"

"Yes, my dear. You treat me like an alien every time we talk."

"An alien?"

Lei cleared his expression, "Are you going to repeat every word I say?"

"As a matter of fact, Lei, yes." Katelyn chirped, "Let me tell you something. I only become friends with the people who pass my tests. And you, my dear, haven't even made one step yet." She chose a topic that could be interesting.

"And... what tests are these? I am really good at passing tests."

"You are not supposed to know, but pass them."

Lei sat up straight on his seat, "Sorry if my words don't come out polite." He closely looked at the lady, "Miss, you don't in any way make sense."

Katelyn amusedly smiled, "I am not supposed to. That way I can know who has passed the test."

Lei nodded, still closely at her, "Okay... I know what you are trying to do. You are trying to get me confused, but you don't know that I can smartly turn the tables around."

"Oh, Lei, do it. Show me how smart you are." Katelyn was bright and vivacious.

Before Lei said anything, the morning class lecturer walked into the room. He came along with a mountain of books and papers.

"Good morning, class." He started, putting the books and papers on the lecture table without looking at the students.

The class responded with happy moods.

"Today we will continue with..." He suddenly looked up at the class, expressionless and thoughtful, "You are the new lot, right?"

The class responded with amused and diverted expressions. They didn't know that the lecturer held Ph.D. in Telecommunication and Information Engineering, and according to Crownzone University students, if you had a Ph.D., you had a Permanent Head Damage.

"I almost forgot." He said with an inborn anxiety quaver while putting his large glasses back in place, "You can refer to me as Professor Tony, or simply Tony, like all the others call me."

The class stared amusedly.

"The first thing you should know is that this department is exciting." He lit up a smile that relaxed his nerves, "This means that we are going to have fun, which means that you made the right choice, and which means that you are going to have excellent futures." He paused with an expression that made him seemingly remember something, then suddenly showed a calm and dull demeanor, "I don't know how my other mates do it because... I don't know how to do it. I only have a little that I know; life is short, so, make it worth living. Don't do drugs. Don't do unprotected sex. Don't be in wild activities... That is only what I have." He paused and looked at the class to figure out in their expressions if his short advice meant anything to them. But their expressions looked amused and happy, just like all the other times he had given the advice.

He sighed and got back to the main task that brought him in the class, "Ladies and gentlemen, this is an earthly important course. Earthly in that you will be the major people moving IT and communication forward. You will be the main people in their growth and use. You will be the main people involved in the growth and new findings in the world of technology. This means there is no other field that specializes in technology more than this." He once again lit up a smile on his face.

"This field will enable you to practice the science of transmitting information by electromagnetic and use of the computer and telecommunication equipment to store, retrieve, transmit and manipulate data. Do you know what that means, fellows? It means that your radio and TV at home, video telephony, digital cinema, computer network and internet, communications channels, telecommunication networks and dozens of others will widely be specialized on by you. You will also at large specialize in data storage, retrieval, transmission, manipulation and much more." He widened his smile, "That is where the juice and passion will start from; the IT area, people. You will realize the excitement part of your career at this point." He shortly paused as the students stared in eager anticipation, "Ladies and gentlemen, let us start making your life..."

Michael calmly sat in a figure-four posture at one of the front-row seats in the Computer Software Engineering lecture hall. Students chatted while getting to know each other as they waited for the lecturer's arrival.

"Hi, man." Justine, a class student, called out on his right, "I am all tense and anxious. I have been waiting for this day for a long time."

"Good for you." Michael didn't turn to him, his eyes in front of the hall.

Justine drew out a long breath, "Uh, I guess this is it. This is where the very foundation of our future begins."

Michael still didn't turn to him, seemingly not interested in the conversation, "Trust me, some people have already completed the foundation." His tone was mildly gentle.

Justine smiled interestedly at the classmate's attitude, "Do you mean you already understand software engineering?"

Michael now slowly turned his head to him, "Exactly." He said and took his eyes back at the front of the hall.

Justine's smile widened, "I would politely call that bragging."

Michael once again slowly turned his head to the classmate with a mild expression, "You don't know me, I don't know you. Let us keep it that way until the time comes." He turned back in front of the hall, giving Justine an option to be silent.

Upon turning, Michael's eyes suddenly landed on the person he had been anxiously and nervously waiting to meet in the university. He watched his majestic entrance in the hall; the one person who had been giving him doubts and vacillation over his supremacy in what he understood best. At last, it will be open who is the most superior between the two of them.

Symon stopped and looked around the full lecture hall until his eyes saw only one empty seat in the front row, and immediately, he saw the person next to the empty seat. The person who had been making him restless ever since he discovered his capabilities in computer systems. His heart nervously skipped as he courageously walked forward to the empty seat. He didn't look at the person when he got to the seat. He only sat and maintained in front of the lecture hall.

Michael and Symon both stared in front of the lecture hall with an uncomfortable muteness between them.

"So." It was Symon who broke the one-minute silence, his eyes still in front of the class, "The day has finally come."

"On a Monday morning." Michael's eyes were also in front of the class, "I had such an anticipation."

"Hmm, I had no idea we had the same anticipation in mind."

No one still looked at the other as another silence fell between them.

"You know, I am still surprised how you did it." Symon once again broke the silence, "How my data that I even thought three versions of Zuckerberg couldn't ever decipher, ends up decrypted by a person I have never even heard of!"

Michael permitted himself a delicate little smile, both still in front of the lecture hall, "I am surprised that there is a mod program out there that combines all the GTA games with surprisingly brilliant and improved graphics, and storyline." He now turned to Symon, his expression clear, "My surprise is that it wasn't me who created the mod!"

"I have seen your work and it can never in any way be compared to that game!" Symon as well turned to him, his tone a mixture of amazement and intrigue, "Bots and packet sniffers that can infiltrate encrypted databases without hurting the encryptions! Do you know how unbelievable that is?" He paused and quickly continued before Michael could talk, "I have even used one of the softwares in banking networks and governmental bodies, and they couldn't even trace a breach! Now you want to compare a game with that?" His tone rose a notch higher.

Michael put his leg down and sat up, "Oh, see how you are opening the floor! I thought I was the only person who knew how to use my softwares because I don't create them with market functions and manuals. I use my own styles that only I understand. Look at how my mind and intelligence can be explored!"

Symon stared at him, almost in surprise, "Finding a way to use a software in your own idea is much, much easier compared to how hard the software can be created!"

Never did it occur in any of them that they would end up giving compliments and praises to each other's work when they met. The obvious and apparent expectation was to prove who the superior was.

"I have also seen how your softwares work!" Michael said with controlled severity, "You have an SQL injection that infiltrates information grids! You even have your own network systems and information channels that is unknown to anybody! You think that is not unbelievable?"

Before Symon could respond, the class lecturer entered the hall. Justine, the student on Michael's right, still looked surprised, as he had been listening to the conversation that included strange computer terminologies he had never even heard of. If this is the level of their knowledge, what are they doing here!

"Okay, to be truthful, my high school lab had no spectrophotometer, microtiter plate, magnetic stirrer and the many others that I found strange." Nadia said as she and Tyson walked out of one of the School of Medicine laboratories.

Tyson smiled at her, "I don't think if any high school has the equipment. They made Bunsen burner, crucibles and wash bottles look important. Was it more than a hundred tools and equipment we dealt with there?"

Nadia checked her notes, "Exactly."

"Yet only thirty will be more important to us."

"Or maybe all."

"Maybe..." Tyson stopped while still smiling at her. Nadia also stopped.

"Can we go and get something at the cafeteria?" He said, "It will be a good chance to know more about each other."

Nadia freely and excitedly nodded, "Alright."

Tyson’s mood soared happily as they proceeded to the university cafeteria. The lady had come to touch him in an extra-ordinarily unique manner. He was sure it wasn’t simply attraction that pulled him toward her. Attraction always remained in the confinement of feelings, never crossing to where the heart is. But here, his heart was pounding in a powerful pleasurable rhythm when he was with her and in her presence. And he liked it- loved it, even though he knew that he had a lover. Good Lord, Tyson, are you getting yourself in a trap, or is it the trap getting to you? His thoughts made him wonder.

"... Meaning that you can have at least two or at most five people in a single group." The lecturer in the Telecommunication and Information Technology class finalized his lecture, "And remember, submission of the work will be tomorrow at 9.00 a.m." He took his books and papers then walked out of the lecture room.

The moment the lecturer stepped out of the class, Lei immediately stood from his seat looking at Katelyn, "Okay, Kate, it's going to be me and you in a group. We meet after lunch in my hostel room." He intentionally sounded brusque.

Katelyn amusedly laughed as she slowly rose from her seat, "Oh, really?" She now smiled, as if with the best intention, then called out to a male student beside Lei, "Excuse me, would you care to be with me in a group?"

"Whoa, whoa, whoa!" Lei quickly said before the student could answer the question, "It doesn't necessarily have to get there." He briefly turned to the amused student and back at Katelyn, "We can re-phrase everything to your liking."

Katelyn walked a step to him, expressionless, "Me and you, meeting exactly at 2.00 p.m. at the Study Shade near Upper Zone Library." She looked intent, "You are late, you are out." She said then walked past him towards the lecture hall’s door.

Lei turned to see her leave.

"Great Lord, man!" The student beside him also looked at the lady leaving, "You want her or something?"

Lei put his hands in the pocket with a smile, his eyes never leaving Katelyn walking away out of the lecture hall, "Want her? That is an understatement in my intention towards her. I want her more than anything on the planet."

"Good luck with that." The student said and left.

Lei sighed from the classmate's short information while still standing with his hands in the pocket. Probably he needed the luck, because the lady was still playing hard to get, even though he was sure she had feelings for him. That luck I surely need to make her mine and hold her in my arms with kisses every day.

"... And so, class, that is the importance of group work." The lecturer in Symon and Michael's class concluded his lecture, "Everybody should try to be in one. You will see how easier your study and progress will be." He put his books in the shoulder bag he had come with and walked out of the class.

Justine quickly stood from his seat and humbly looked at Symon and Michael, "I want to be in your group, guys. Please let me."

Symon and Michael, still seated, exchanged surprised looks, then Michael stood, "There isn't a group between us." He picked his books on the study desk, "Maybe you should create one between yourselves."

"Please, hold on, man." Justine tried to stop Michael from leaving, "I am sorry about earlier when I told you... when I said that you were bragging. I didn't_"

"I don't hold on to unimportant things." Michael said and began to walk away.

"Michael," It was Symon that called this time. He knew that Michael expertly understood computer system and information more than he did. Michael's knowledge was more superior. He also saw sense in Lemarh's, the cousin, reasoning; to know Michael's unique side, he had to explore the side, and the only way was to work with him. There was no other way.

Michael stopped and turned back.

Symon looked at him in a short silence before he spoke, "Let's work together. Let us make a group. Imagine how great it will be."

Justine stood beside Symon, hoping and praying for Michael to get convinced. This group must surely come to be!

Michael inwardly felt pleasure in Symon's almost desperate plead. It obviously showed and proved that he was the most supreme among the two of them, but he knew where his rules worked best, "My ideas, my mind, and my ways. I do it all alone. I don’t need anybody else." He suppressed his pleasure with a stringent tone and walked away from them.

The two remained staring at him as he went, then Symon turned to Justine, "I know his capabilities. He is by miles far away from the rest of the class in system knowledge. We must convince him to join us if we want to fully and completely understand computer system."

Justine already felt a delightful pleasure flowing through him. WE must convince him to join US. He was already in a group with a billionaire that he knew. He couldn't fully understand Michael's knowledge, but it felt just okay if he was in a group with one of the country's top magnates. It feels okay than even including Michael.
