《Theirs》Chapter 53

...
I walked into the bathroom and found Katherine passed out next to the toilet.
Shit!
I quickly approached her and picked her up. Then I walked out of the bathroom and headed towards her bed. I gently lowered her on the bed and covered her.
"Pregnant humans are so weak. It was just a little smelly. No reason to pass out." Evanora said in disappointment, making me glare at her.
"When will you finish?" I asked in annoyance.
"In exactlyyy..." She looked at her non-existent wrist watch. "One hour!" She said cheerfully, a big smile stretching across her face.
"One hour?!" I said in surprise.
"You're lucky I had all the right ingredients or it would've been two." She said as she added some weird looking leaves into the cauldron.
A cloud of green smoke puffed out of it making Evanora cough as she swatted her hand around.
"Are you sure you're doing it correctly?" I asked skeptically.
She looked like she was adding ingredients she liked and not the right ones.
"Shut up and let me do my thing." She said and added some more weird leaves.
Another cloud of smoke puffed out, but it was a lot smaller compared to the previous one.
"Done. Now we wait." She said happily and started starting at the simmering liquid eagerly.
I sighed in frustration and sat on a chair.
...
"Aaand done!" Evanora squealed excitedly as she stopped mixing the, now purple liquid. "Quick. Give me that glass." She said and pointed at a glass on the other side of Katherine's bed.
I grumbled to myself and stood up. I grabbed the glass and gave it to her. She slowly dunked the glass in the cauldron and scooped a bit of the liquid. Then she sat next to Katherine's and placed the same glass on Katherine's lips.
"Woah, woah, woah!" I interrupted her quickly. "Why are you giving it to her? Are you trying to poison her or something?" I said in confusion as panic slowly consumed my mind.

"What?! Of course not! Why would I do that?" Evanora exclaimed in surprise. "She's the first human pregnant with dragon children I've ever seen. You think I'd ruin an opportunity like this?" She added pointedly.
I sigh of relief left my mouth before I could stop it. Evanora looked at me with knowing eyes, making me glare at her.
Pull yourself together Niran. Just because she's similar to Alina doesn't mean she is Alina.
Evanora turned towards Katherine and pressed the glass against Katherine's lips again. Then she tilted the glass up and the purple liquid entered Katherine's mouth.
"If something happens to her, you'll lose a limb." I threatened when Katherine frowned and started squirming.
"Don't worry. This is supposed to happen." She assured. "At least the book says it's supposed to happen." She added skeptically.
"What?! So you're just winging it?!" I yelled angrily.
"Chill. So far everything looks good. I followed the book and everything that was written in it happened." She assured.
I can't believe this.
I gripped my hair and breathed out in frustration, turning around and pressing my forehead on the wall.
"Oh shit!" Evanora gasped out suddenly.
I quickly turned around and looked at her in confusion.
"What?" I asked.
I have a feeling I'm not going to like what she's about to say.
"I forgot to add an ingredient." She mumbled quietly as she started at her book.
"WHAT?!" I roared. "You gave her that weird potion and it was not completed?! What's going to happen to her now?!" I yelled furiously.
"I'm searching." She said quietly as she flipped through her fucking book.
But then Katherine groaned. My eyes moved to her in less than a second. She had a pained expression and was squirming like crazy.
"Evanora." I said in panic as I sat next to Katherine's and gripped her shoulders gently.

Then I pulled her so she'd sit up. I started examining her as if the answer to why she's like this would somehow show up, but her body just moved forward and fell on me, her head falling on my shoulder.
"Evan-"
"Found it!" She yelled in surprise.
I quickly looked at her. She was reading something intensely, her eyes looking over the page as if she was crazy. Then she moved her face closer to the book.
"Wh-what did you find?" I asked worriedly.
She continued to read for about two more minutes and then the loudest sigh of relief left her mouth.
"We're good. She's safe." She finally said making me breathe out in relief too.
I think this just shortened my life for at least a hundred years.
"I don't know why do I keep letting you live. This is not the first time you pulled something like this." I grumbled and sighed in exhaustion.
"'Cause you love me~" She sang with a squeaky voice making me glare at her. "And you need me~" She added in the same tone.
I closed my eyes and took a breath to try to calm myself. Then I looked at Katherine and she still had a pained expression.
"But why is she like this?" I quickly asked when Katherine groaned in pain.
"With the potion I was supposed to make I would've been able to enter her mind and see how she's connected to your sister." She explained skeptically.
"But since you gave her a different one, she'll..." I said urging her to continue.
"Well..." She started with a wry smile making me glare at her. "Okay, okay. The potion I gave her will make her remember her past life if this isn't her first life." She quickly mumbled.
I just started at her.
"That's it?" I said in confusion.
"Yeahh..." She said with fake enthusiasm.
I narrowed my eyes at her.
"What are you not telling me?" I said sternly.
She just smiled nervously and rubbed the back of her neck.
"Evanora." I warned.
"She..." She started.
"She..." I urged impatiently.
Evanora took a deep breath and stared taking again.
"She's gonna be in a lot of pain because of the potion." She mumbled, making me freeze. "For the next three hours. It's gonna hurt like a bitch." She added quietly making me see red.
"Well you better find a way to stop it or this will be your last day of freedom." I threatened through gritted teeth as I slowly approached her.
"I can't. There's nothing we can do besides waiting." She answered quietly. "But on the bright side. She'll be perfectly fine after it. Even her babies won't be affected." She added with a fake excitement.
I groaned loudly and slumped myself on a chair. The headache from earlier was getting stronger and I was not looking forward to it.

Love Of Baybur [Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
The Sultanate won a huge battle against their enemies of different religion, and now left them with only a piece of land surrounded by Sultanate's forces. Baybur, a yerliyya from a backwater place, is hailed as a hero after the war for his past contributions in a strange manner and is, thus, invited to a banquet prepared by the Sultan and attended by many Great Nobles. To Baybur, who had dreams of stepping on a higher stage in Sultanate's politics, and in his Orta's ranks, this is a chance for him to shine and rise. Yet he, and many in the banquet, knows that victory is far from over. And this presents a chance, with greater risk than before, to impress the Sultan and the Pashas of the Sultanate. Sanjak-beys and Aghas of the Janissary Corps all seek to devour their enemies, both in and out of the Sultanate. And Baybur, in the midst of this brewing storm, is no different from a fish dreaming to be a dragon. But a woman he meets at the banquet changes everything; his goals, his dreams, and his fate. After all, love, without expression, is a deadly curse. As a note, Cover is not mine obviosuly, and I write this both for NaNoWriMo and Writathon. To some history lovers and nerds who specialize in it, I know you might be angered quite a deal with some things I've written.(I get the feeling when someone talks wrong foolish things in a study I know, no hate) But this is a historical fiction written by a seventeen-year-old, don't expect much from me to know every single detail. Much of my research is surface level and some things are, well, to fit plot, are changed. So bear that in mind. For schedule/chapter thingt, there will be at most five chapters until I pass the 55.555 words mark. Each chapter will be around or above 10k+ words. It is also not edited, and probably won't be unless I find a great deal of time in my hands after November to see what I lack in where. That's all. Now go read, or leap to another fiction. Enjoy!
