《Between Reality: G.Y Aspect》21: The Hostels

"Do you really think it's a good idea to be in these... rooms?" Symon oddly stared at the cousin as he arranged his books in the room bookshelf in one of the university's male hostels.
"It's a good idea." Lemarh spoke as he arranged his books on the shelf, "And it's going to be fun. You will see."
The look on Symon's face seemed far from convinced, "I don't see any fun in a cubicle room with two people. Let's just live in our mansions, Lemarh."
Lemarh looked at the cousin, "The fun I am talking about is knowing people here and getting in their activities. The fun of free and open interaction is always incredible."
"You know very well I don't like people. I hate interactions, and you know it."
Lemarh gave him a smile, "Then let me help you with that. You will see how fun it is to interact with people."
Symon shook his head assuredly, "There is nothing you can do to ever make me like interactions."
"Okay. If I don't, then we will go and live in our mansions, but if I do, we will stay here."
"I will give you three days."
"That will be more than enough." Lemarh said and continued arranging his books.
"By the way." Symon changed topics, "This should be the perfect time to start pursuing Kate, don't you think?"
"I want to do away with campus first. That will be the perfect time." Lemarh simply said.
"And you are always positive she will be waiting for you?"
"She said she will. I trust her."
"But what if a guy gets into her heart and she forgets about you?"
Lemarh looked at the cousin interestedly, "I don't mean to brag or anything, but who can actually come close to be who I am? Do you think Katelyn can ever fall for another guy while she knows I am available and absolutely single?"
Symon only smiled at the thought. The cousin could have been right because he was the most accomplished man in all areas of a man's life. He was full of gratitude and generosity. Virtuous, intelligent and wise. He had influence and authority, with wealth and position. And above all, he was handsome and amiable. No any other man could challenge who he was, and that made all single women desperately want to be with him, including Katelyn.
Katelyn slowly arranged her course books on the bookshelf in one of the female student's hostel rooms. Her friend was also busy pinning calendars and pictures on the room's walls.
"I still can't believe we are in the same room." Sharon said looking at the friend, "I am so, so happy, girl!"
There was silence in the room as Katelyn remained quiet. She seemed to be in deep thought. Anyone could be able to tell her mind was disturbed.

"Sharon." She looked up at the friend, "Do you believe in fate?"
Sharon was drawn to the question, and she knew the friend's dull state laid on it, "Well, for a Christian sister like me, religion says God plans everything. But it is the same thing. Non-believers call it fate, believers call it God's plan."
Katelyn drew out a breath, "God's plan." She looked up at nothing then back at Sharon, "So, God is responsible for what has become!"
"What is it that has become?" Sharon's curiosity was evident, "Is it... because of a reason that we are here together?"
"No, no, girl. It's never that. It is about me and... you know who."
"Ha, ha. I didn't see that coming," Sharon smiled interestedly, "The usual Lei and Katelyn saga. But you shouldn't judge God's plan in the saga. He has His reasons for everything He plans."
Katelyn sighed and continued arranging the books, "Sharon, I don't think God can plan such a saga for His young girl."
"You think you are young?"
"I am young!"
Sharon stepped down from her hostel bed, "Katelyn, in Biblical times any girl whose chest showed out was immediately married off. In your case, at 19, you could be cuddling your second or third-born. Now call yourself young, let me hear it!"
Katelyn slowly continued with what she was doing, "Biblical times passed centuries ago, Sharon."
"You are missing the point here, sweetheart. Our eggs are already active, meaning we are not young anymore. But this modern century only wastes our eggs. Look at a woman like you for instance; bright and intelligent, meaning a career woman with a busy future. You will be powerful, fiercely independent and vision-driven. In my prediction, you will probably start a family at thirty and above. How many eggs will you have wasted?"
"Sharon, we have millions of eggs, and removing a couple of hundreds every month is like removing a word from an encyclopedia. I can even have ten kids when I start at thirty. That is in any way not a problem. The problem here is clear that your words are against women, and I am surprised, because the last time I checked, you are also a woman... And by the way, this is supposed to be about me, not some biblical decree and wastage of eggs."
Sharon smiled, "Okay, girl. So, what is the new that has happened between you and Lei that is making you like this?"
Katelyn shrugged then sighed, "Something totally surprising, and I can't understand!"
"More connection between you two?"
"Something of the sort!"
There was a smile of raillery on Sharon's face, "It won't be the possibility of you two studying the same course, would it? I mean, that will be a freaky of more than just a coincidence!"

Katelyn's silence gave the friend a meaning; it immediately occurred to Sharon that she might have guessed right, that her words may be weirdly right.
"OH MY GOD!" She screamed out loud, "AM I RIGHT?"
Katelyn calmly looked at her, "It is good to know that you also knew."
"I swear to you, girl, it was a lucky guess! And oh, my, what a guess it is! So, you are indeed studying the same course?"
Katelyn turned to the bookshelf, "It is weird, right?"
"A lot weird that the fate you just talked about is trying hard to do its part. A part that has a completely new meaning to it, and if I tell you the meaning, you will not like it... your sense won't like it but your feelings will. So, I will just let you find it out yourself, and dear, it's going to be real soon!"
Katelyn only stared at the friend without a word. She obliquely understood what she meant, and indeed her feelings liked it, but the sense made her feel guilty when she thought of the sister.
"So, Lei and me here," Michael said while looking around his and Lei's hostel room, with a packet of his favorite crisps at hand, "Ty, I wish you get a fat roommate that farts every second of the night, or... maybe a gay." He was now drollery at the friend.
"Come on, Mike, give our poor Ty some break." Lei said while arranging books in the hostel's bookshelf, "At least wish him a tattooed gay. I hear they are the best in protection, especially at night."
"Ha, ha, ha, very funny. I think I have even cracked a rib." Tyson looked at his friends inimically, "But do you know what's funnier? It is when I look back at you after you learn that I will be all alone without a roommate. I can't wait to see the look on your faces."
"All alone without a roommate?" Michael looked at him, "I don't even think if Lemarh can get such a privilege."
"Lemarh can get such a privilege." Lei turned to Michael.
"Hey! I thought we were on the same side." Michael said, then suddenly looked at the bookshelf, "God, you are doing it all wrong! The media and devices, data structures, programming tasks and computer applications are supposed to be on the far left, not in the middle!"
Lei shortly stared at his arrangement of books and turned back at the friend, chidingly, "You stupid ungrateful monkey! If you want any book, you can simply and easily see it. This is not a library."
Michael paused with a piece of crisp in his hand. He pointed at Lei with the piece of crisp, "I am the only one with the right of calling whoever I please a monkey, you monkey! Now, you will do exactly as I say, and that is exactly how I want my books arranged."
Lei chuckled sourly, "Indeed there is actually one godamn born every minute! You are such a butt hole, Mike, do you know that? Or do you know that I have the choice... or let me say the powers and will, to leave arranging your books? This is just a favour I am doing you, you monkey!"
Michael looked at him humbly, "Okay, man, you win. Let us just drop this by my books arranged in my preference. I don't think that should be a big deal."
Before Lei could say anything, a lady entered the room through the widely opened door and happily smiled upon seeing Tyson.
"Ty, Surprise!" She walked and tightly hugged him.
"Lindah!" Tyson was taken aback, hugging the lady as well, "It is quite a surprise, indeed!"
Lei and Michael exchanged glances and got back to Tyson and the lover.
"But... you said in your message you will stay for another month_"
"I know, my love. That was just a part of surprising you. I am now here and will be staying for a long, long time." Lindah said, full of energy and enthusiasm.
"That is good!" Tyson smiled at her, "Maybe... we should go to the cafeteria for a drink and talk about all we have missed since you were away?"
"Okay." Joy rioted in Lindah's eyes. She turned to see Lei and Michael. The joy of meeting the lover for a moment made her not see the other people in the room, "By the way, guys, hi."
Lei and Michael both responded with smiles.
She then left with Tyson, Michael staring at them until they departed out of sight.
"You were right, man!" He looked at Lei, "The girl was planning a surprise all along. How the hell do you read between the lines in such... scenarios?"
Lei resumed arranging books on the shelf, "Mike, apart from having 180 IQ, there is Zeus' blood flowing in me. How the hell can I not read between the lines in every scenario?"
Michael smiled while eating his crisps. He knew the friend's knowledge, skills, intelligence, experience and erudition. His level of efficiency and mastery was exceptional, uncommon and extraordinary. If a new person learned who Lei was, he would believe that he was indeed from the bloodline of Zeus. Only a god can do what he is usually capable of.
