"Maybe I should introduce myself, where are my manners. Call me the Wise One, from now on I will be your instructor, your teacher... Your master!"

The Wise One was an exuberant ghost, he had a strange accent by which he emphasized his endings of sentences, moreover, he waved his arms while speaking.

Lug listened to him attentively.

At the same time, Hannah was tugging at his sleeve as if to make him understand that she would like to leave.

This was not lost on the Wise One.

"You have many questions and I'll be happy to answer them, but I don't like to repeat myself... So we'll try a few things, bring Hannah over here, and ask her to sit down."

As he said this he pointed to an old, half-broken chair that he had been sitting on when Hannah and Lug had come in.

"Is that a real chair?" Lug asked.

"Obviously, I wouldn't ask a living person to sit in a chair made of psychic energy."

"Psychic energy?" Lug repeated a little confused.

The Wise One had moved against the wall, right behind the chair and looked as if he was waiting impatiently for Hannah.

"Why do you want Hannah to come? She can't even see you." said Lug defiantly.

"That's exactly why I want her to come here, she wants to experience an adventure, right?"

Lug turned to her, she who was usually quick to brave any danger looked like a scared little girl.

"Hannah, there's a ghost here and he wants you to go to that chair... But I don't know if we can trust him, if you want we can go out now."

Perhaps if Lug hadn't given her the option to leave, she would have walked out of the crypt on her own. But here Lug intended to stay, she couldn't admit to backing out here. She who complained about a boring life, leaving at this time would have been like betraying her deep desire for adventure and mystery.

"I'll go..." she said in a small, trembling voice.

Lug looked reassured, but he had misunderstood her. She didn't intend to go out, she walked over to the chair, and sat down.

"Perfect, now come here Lug." said the ghost who couldn't hide his joy.

Lug thought about stopping Hannah, but held back when he saw her sitting.

She looked scared, obviously. But he could see in her eyes and the way she held herself that she was determined to go through with it.

"What are you going to do?" said Lug to the ghost as he stepped forward.

"Put your hands here and there, that's where her energy centers are. The idea is simple: you're going to use a lot of psychic energy at once on these two centers, that should unlock her ability to see and hear ghosts."

"Is that possible…?"

"Obviously, you never attempted to develop your potential so you wouldn’t know. Good thing I'm here."

Lug said nothing, he knew the Wise One had a point, he had never wanted to understand his ability for fear of his world changing.

“Hannah, he wants you to be able to see and hear ghosts, do you really want that?” asked Lug.

Hannah didn’t say a word, she just nodded.

The Wise One resumed.

"Since you are a beginner I will help you, I will guide your energy. To make it manifest, the best thing for you will be to visualize... So... Let's see… Let's say her heart stopped, you living people have developed a machine recently that sends a shock to restart the heart, right?"

"A defibrillator?" Lug replied.

"Yes, something like that. Well there it is the same, you will send a lot of energy to restart her little extinguished hearts."

"But... how do you do that? And am I able to do it? Do I really have this energy you speak of?"

"Ahah, Lug... You're a walking sun. You could fry her brain if you weren't careful, so don't worry, you have everything you need."

Lug stepped back, startled.

"Fry... Fry..."

"Yes, but don't worry, in your current state you won't do much... Besides, I'm here to guide the energy. Come on."

Lug placed his slightly shaking hands on Hannah again.

He trusted this ghost he had just met, even though a part of him wanted to take Hannah by the arm and run as far away as possible.

His reptilian brain was sending signals all over his body, some of his muscles were making little jerks, so that it seemed as if Lug was performing a strange dance.

Hannah stood still with her eyes closed, not asking any questions.

She was in full confidence.

Despite all of Lug's lies and all of the doubts she had had to overcome, a true trust had been born between the two.

"Are you ready? You're going to visualize suns in place of your hands, just this, keep the energy there I'll take care of directing it."

Lug's hands were covered by the hands of the Wise One.

Lug concentrated and visualized the suns, his hands began to heat up.

He kept his eyes closed, he was afraid something would go wrong.

He tried to avoid being there, but every time he started to think about something else, the new sensations that spread through his body brought him back to reality.

It felt like there were fireworks going off in his hands and into his body, like little blasts running along his blood vessels and nerves.

It wasn't really painful.

But it was an unpleasant sensation nonetheless, as if his body was activating for the first time after years of dormancy.

After several minutes that seemed like hours, Hannah began to speak.

"I'm... dizzy..."

"Keep going, Lug. You're almost there." said the Wise One.

Lug looked at the ghost, his face was serene.

Against all odds, Lug decided to continue.

"Just a few more seconds Hannah... Hold on," he said to her, pressing a little harder with his hands.

A few seconds later Hannah began to fall from the chair.

Lug caught her before she hit the floor.

"What's going on?!" he shouted at the Wise One.

The ghost had a big smile and bright eyes.

"When she wakes up, a new world will open to her."

Hannah was breathing normally, she just looked asleep.

Lug not knowing what to think, took her on his shoulders and left the crypt without looking back.

"I look forward to your return!" said the Wise One.

Lug walked through the entire cemetery to his home.

When Lug entered with Hannah asleep on him, Gavan was very surprised by the scene, but he didn't ask any questions even though it burned his lips.

Despite appearances, he knew when to keep his mouth shut.

Lug put Hannah in a chair, quickly changed the sheets and laid her on the fresh bed.

He placed a few pillows on the floor and laid down on the improvised bed on the floor.

"Good night, Hannah."
