《Love Death Cemetery》Chap 35: A gateway to another world

A ghost was restless in Vonne.

Dressed in a brown jacket with burgundy checks, black pants, burgundy socks pulled up and nice polished shoes.

His appearance was enough to know that he had lived a life among the wealthy.

He was walking up and down the humble area that the affluent neighborhood occupied.

When this worried man saw Hannah and Lug approaching he ran to the latter.

"Please, my child is missing. No taller than the low wall that bounds Vonne, a cute little face. He liked to play by the big tree. Are you sure you haven't heard or seen anything?" the poor man stuttered.

Lug often saw this man when he passed through Vonne.

Sometimes the ghost came to talk to him, always asking the same questions.

Lug had never really tried to understand where his child had gone, he assumed that he had left the cemetery as he wanted.

But now things were different.

It was the first time Lug had considered the possibility that the child had disappeared.

"Hello, you told me he was missing and I haven't seen him anywhere in or around the cemetery. Can you tell me more about his disappearance, any clues that could help me?"

"I don't know... He looked like his usual self, he'd gone to see who knows who in Roseraies. I didn't like it when he went there, that neighborhood is cursed... Being too rich and important… It fries your brain, they are all crazy there."

Lug then remembered something.

"Yes... He had told me about going to see the... “Wise Man who knows everything”? Something like that..."

the man turned bright red.

"That man, I've heard of him before. He's a freak of nature, he never comes out of his cave. Nobody ever sees him! What could he have done to my little..."

With these words, the man started to walk at full speed towards Roseraies.

Hannah, who had been standing still watching Lug talk to himself, was more than a little disturbed.

"Hannah hurry up, follow me."

She moved forward without really understanding why.

She knew Lug wasn't lying, but she still couldn't believe that he could actually communicate or even see ghosts.

She didn't even believe in ghosts.

They walked quickly and found themselves in front of a large white marble tomb with gold metal ornaments, angels on either side of a large closed metal door.

Lug did not have the keys on him.

He saw the ghost storming into the vault through the door.

"Wait for us!" said Lug.

It was already too late, the ghost was already inside.

He turned to Hannah.

"Hannah, wait for me here. I'm going to get the keys to that crypt!"

She nodded, anxious to be alone so late in this cemetery that was apparently filled with ghosts.

Lug went as fast as he could.

When he returned a few minutes later, he didn't see Hannah and the door to the tomb was wide open.

He panicked.

He was ready to jump inside when he heard Hannah's voice behind him.

"Sorry I got away, I got scared when the doors suddenly opened..."

"The doors opened by themselves? But they were locked..."

Ghosts were still full of mystery to Lug.

He had seen TVs turn on before and objects move slightly, but a heavy locked door was unheard of.

Neither Lug nor Hannah were reassured.

Suddenly the man whose son had disappeared came up from the crypt.

He ran towards Vonne without looking at them, he looked as if he was about to cry.

"What's going on? What do you see?" Hannah asked Lug.

His face must have betrayed his distress.

Lug sensed that whatever was in that vault might change his life, and he was afraid it would be for the worse.

"Hannah, maybe we should go home..."

At that moment Lug heard a voice calling to him from deep inside the tomb.

"It's time, I've been waiting for you."

This voice was calm and soft but also powerful.

Lug didn't have time to think when Hannah suddenly took his hand.

"Come on, we didn't come all the way here to chicken out, did we?"

Lug wasn't afraid of death.

That's why he didn't mind the idea of working in a cemetery.

What frightened him was not death but the unknown.

He felt deep in his bones that going down into that vault was like changing his world.

Hannah's warm hand contrasted with the cold of the evening and the thoughts that haunted Lug.

There was nothing tangible to fear and yet he shivered.

He let himself be led by Hannah and they went down together the white marble steps.

One by one until they reached a small room where a ghost was standing.

It was dark, but as they walked in, the old light bulb hanging from the ceiling of the crypt lit up, which frightened Hannah, who clung to Lug a little more.

The latter had no time to realize it, he was completely focused on what was in front of him: a ghost who to his surprise was not a decrepit old man but a distinguished young man.

He was dressed in a white shirt and a black jacket.

His distinguished appearance went hand in hand with his confident look.

The man was about 17 years old, maybe 20, dark-haired with green eyes and a wooden pipe in his hand.

Seeing Lug and Hannah his face lit up, he scraped the bottom of his pipe and began to speak.

"So Lug, do you need someone to hold your hand to finally come visit me?"
