《Nostalgic Gamer in a Cultivation World》Chapter 188: The New Grim

The two Theeders weren’t like the puny forms that the Chocobos had. It took their combined effort to create a laser attack. And while it was powerful, it was barely equal to the combined power of two Theeders.
Lightning energy gathered around the bodies of the two. The two Theeders that Dyne summoned went through the motions of how they would attack as it was in the game.
The Theeders raised their two ‘arms’ that was a large needle attached to their insect-like arm. A larger needle was hanging out just under its main body, which became erect as the three needles created a link of lightning energy.
“I wonder what the game designers thought when they made Theeder.” Dyne could not help but wonder as he watched the strange and somewhat inappropriate way for the Theeder to channel its energy.
The lightning energy focused on the needle that would have been mistaken for the Theeder’s genitalia, and laser energy beamed out.
The two lasers beamed and turned, striking each Chocobo and knocking them back.
“KWEEEEHHH!” The Chocobos shouted in pain and immediately fell. Their Spirit energy was unable to resist the power of the Theeder’s laser attack and tremendous wounds from the attacks. The lightning attacks had dug deep within the Chocobos body. The injuries were so critical that some of the Chocobos fainted in pain. The others were unable to stand up.
“Well… That battle went easier than I thought.” Dyne laughed.
“Rena. Heal that one and that one with one round of your magic first.” Dyne pointed to the two Chocobos, who seemed to be dying.
Rena was confused but did as asked.
Bright energy covered the Chocobo. The wounds began to close slowly, and the dying Chocobo opened its eyes to life once more. The other Chocobos were amazed at what they saw.
Dyne approached and held up Grim.
“Grim? Can you hear me?”
“Yes, Master.” The voice of a young child could be heard.
“Good to finally meet you.”
“The pleasure is mine, master. Thank you for bestowing life to me.”
“Let’s not forget the hard work in desiring to live.”
“But it was still from you, master. That desire came from the great joy that you felt. And then, Older Brother Jedo also helped. His greed and desires influenced me.”
“Older Brother?” Dyne and Jedo were stunned.
“So that’s it! Joy and Greed! That’s how his soul was formed!” Strafe, on the other hand, finally understood the miracle of how Grim came to be.

“Brimstone that sparked in neutrality, and desire that created the will to live! Greed and Joy! So that’s how it was easy for you to give life to this Seru!”
“Lord Strafe. Thank you for creating me.” Grim gave his respectful greeting.
“It seems your gained life has started earlier before.” Strafe noticed.
“Anyway, Grim put on a powerful display. The book of Sammy Oak states that most monsters understand mercy and that the law of the jungle where the weaker serves the stronger. So let’s put on a show and scare these Chocobo. And after that, we head in and kill the boss that’s controlling these Chocobos.”
Dyne stood over the Chocobos and held Grim out.
“Jedo. Grim. Release your power.” Dyne ordered.
Brimstone, Dark, and a trio mixture of Fire, Lightning, and Holy appeared.
The Chocobos did not retreat their gaze, but it was clear that they were afraid of Dyne. His power in absorbing their energy and the fact that he could control a Theeder to perform such a majestic attack made them afraid.
But Dyne didn’t do anything. Instead, he continued to look at the Chocobos and had a confident smile.
“Everyone. Come here.” Dyne ordered.
Arya was the first as she immediately jumped and stood before the Chocobo.
Noa and Terra followed, and Rena was the last one.
On the other side, the Piuras approached and stood right behind the Chocobos. They didn’t attack, but it was clear that they were afraid. Not even the Chcocobos stood a chance against them.
“What’s going on?” Rena asked.
“It’s a show of mercy. I am making it clear that I could kill them but decided to spare them. These birds will make magnificent allies. Rena, can you cast magic that will heal all of them?”
“The magic will be divided and will not be that effective. And channeling it will take some a few minutes.”
“It’s alright. The intention is to deliver a message that we are merciful at them.”
Rena nodded and began to channel her energy.
“Noa. How was the experience of fighting?” Dyne asked.
“Big Brother! It was too hard!” Noa frowned and flapped her arms in frustration as she did in the game.
“But I managed to make two attacks! But I was still too weak! I’m thankful that amazing Big Brother is here!” Noa exclaimed.
Terra was still too amazed at the scene.

Before him, was a man that was now harnessing the power of three Ra-Serus. And one of them was a power that was his own!
“A new Ra-Seru is born! This is... too amazing!”
“Actually, As of now, Grim is a step lower compared to the power of you guys. His soul is too weak. I guess we can call Grim a High-Seru. Not yet a Ra-Seru, but something more than a Seru.”
“I am honored to be called a High-Seru.”
“A High-Seru? But his powers can grow with each Genesis Tree!” Jedo argued.
“I estimate that if we awaken all Genesis Trees, Grim’s power will peak on the fifth tree and no more.” Dyne sensed as he held Grim.
“The problem is his Elemental Spirit Seed. It's inferior compared to our Spirit Seed.!”
“Actually, it’s Standard.” Strafe explained.
"Standard?"
“The Elemental Spirit Seed has many levels. Dyne, your Elemental Spirit Seed is Paragon. It can store about 666% of what Grim has. Jedo has a Flawless Elemental Spirit Seed, which means his final limit of all the Soul energy he can store is 300% of what Grim can. And while Grim can increase in power, Dyne is right. The materials that were used to create him are ultimately too weak.” Strafe sighed.
Dyne could feel a strange emotion of sadness around Grim.
“Relax, Grim. I have already done the impossible to create you. I can think of a way to improve your body.” Dyne guessed.
“Even if you don’t improve, it's still too amazing! If we had Serus like Grim back in the war, our victory would have been assured!” Terra exclaimed.
“Yeah. But you guys have to stop thinking about this limitation. Terra, Jedo, Grim. You will eventually be your own cultivator. You will have form, body, and mind.” Dyne declared.
The three were amazed.
“I believe, master!” Grim’s young voice cheered.
“In any case, making a High-Seru can help my friends cultivate. Maybe I can use the Serus to create some way to increase a certain stat. Jedo’s ability to increase my stats through the addition of Spirit is being spread out. But if I focus it on one aspect... Using materials and other elemental sources like those Spirit stones... It should be possible to create the most abusive system in the PS1 gen games!”
“The most abusive system?” Jedo and Strafe wondered.
“The Junction system, of course! That system broke Final Fantasy VIII that you could already be so strong at the start if you know it! A lot of people hated it, but I loved that system! If I could get Serus like this to focus their ability to increase in one area, it can do wonders!”
Rena finally finished chanting and released powerful white energy.
“Oh? Rena didn’t just heal the Chocobos.” Dyne laughed.
Rena had chanted her magic but noticed that some of the Piuras had wounds. And so, she decided to channel the energy to heal even them.
The Chocobos and the Piuras had strange expressions.
Dyne smiled as he saw it.
“This is great. The two teams have seen mercy.”
“Hey! Chocobo! Where is your leader?” Dyne asked.
The Chocobo Dyne called out to was startled.
“Is there a way to communicate with them?” Dyne asked Strafe.
“The Ra-Serus can speak directly to their hearts.” Strafe answered.
“Jedo?”
“Alright. What do you want to say?”
“Greetings, Majestic birds of power! I perceive that you are a prideful beast and have been taken captive by a Wild Arm! Take me to that leader of yours! He has outfitted you with these stones that became your weakness! But serve me, and you will be free! I will kill that leader of yours! Be my friends, and together we will ride in the open land of Legaia and be free!”
“...I’ll see what I can do.”
Jedo then focused his thoughts and sent the Chocobo a message.
“Hi. We want to kill your leader.”
The Chocobos were amazed and turned and looked at each other.
“Can you take us to him?” Jedo asked again.
The Chocobo nodded.
Dyne frowned.
“Did you properly translate everything? That was quick!”
“Word for word.” Jedo ignroed Dynw.
One of the Chocobo stood up and bowed before Dyne.
“He wants us to follow him.” Jedo explained.
“Arya. Let’s move. Rena, Terra, Noa. Stay here.”
“But... Little Brother!” Rena was stunned. Why was she excluded?
“It’ll be dangerous from here on out, Rena. Don’t worry. I have a lot of potions and healing items. It’s slower, but it’ll do the job.”
“Please be careful, Little Brother.”
