《The Diamonds》Chapter 34: Kari's Confession

{Ron}

Even though I didn't really feel like eating anything, Asher made sure that did.

I smirked when I heard Ruff-Ruff growling and barking outside my room. Then I got a surprise when I heard Kari's voice, "Okay, okay Ruff-Ruff! Listen I just want to talk to Ron about something, don't worry I'm not going to try anything. I promise I won't."

I rolled my eyes because I wasn't sure if I wanted to hear another 'I'm better than Abigail type of argument' today but I got up and answered the door. "Okay Kari what do you want?"

"I uh," Kari sighed, "look this isn't an argument about being better than Abigail or anything like that. It's about something Patty told me I should talk to you or Asher about because you guys how to deal with this sort of thing..."

I raised an eyebrow. "Huh? What do you mean by that?"

Kari rubbed the back of her neck and seemed embarrassed about asking me for help. "Well... Can I come in and tell you?"

I nodded. "Sure."

Kari came in and sat down next to me on the bed. I looked at her. "So what's going on?"

"Well... I..." Kari said.

I raised an eyebrow because her face turned red.

"Exactly how do you deal with these?" Kari asked. She opened her mouth to reveal she had fangs.

I blinked and stared at her in complete shock. "When did you get your fangs?"

She closed her mouth and said, "I got them yesterday. Patty says a Diamond gets them when they start puberty. I don't get it! I already went through puberty so what the heck?"

I sighed, "Did Patty say something along the lines of you went through puberty with your human body and you're not really a human?"

Kari nodded. "And another thing, I thought my blood color was supposed to stay normal red like a human's blood color would."

I paused. "Huh?"

"Well my blood is the color red but it looks like glue like a kid would use for arts and crafts." Kari said.

"Interesting," I said. "My blood color is silver and Abigail's blood color is black."

"I wonder why that is?" Kari asked.

I shrugged. "I don't know something to do with our genetics? However I can tell you that now you can only eat raw meat and you can have orange juice with it and from now on that's your diet."

Kari wrinkled her nose. "Gross! No way I'm not-"

"Yeah that's exactly what I thought too," I said. "But after your first meal you'll get used to it. And another thing, you also have to make sure you bite someone. Did you show anyone else your fangs?"

Kari nodded. "I showed Tammy and Tammy also has fangs."

"I see," I said. "Also, I should warn you that once you bite someone you might be a little horny after that. Although from what Patty's told every Diamond is different."

"Oh." Kari said. She looked away. "Well that's gonna be awkward. Although I did just get a new boyfriend, he's a fellow DA and for some reason he's obsessed with vampires!"

I snorted. "Well there you go! I'm sure he's going to have a lot of fun banging you after you bite him!"

"Ha ha." Kari said. She frowned.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"I'm... I'm worried about Abigail!" Kari cried. "I know something bad has to happened to her! I just know it! No DA has ever been gone for this long on an assignment! Not even Abigail. And while it's true I argued with you a lot about how much better I am than her, I... I mean that's not wanted..."

I paused. "Huh? What do you mean that's not what you wanted?"

Kari sighed, "What I wanted was to be with her."

I blinked and stared at her in shock. "Did I just hear that correctly? You wanted to be with Abigail and not like Abigail?"

Kari blushed and nodded. "Mhm. I mean can you blame me? Abigail is so cute! Of course I've had Simon chasing after me but he's not my type even if I am bisexual."

I couldn't stop myself from laughing at the fact that Simon isn't Kari's type and he's chased after her. I also couldn't help but think, What is the world coming to? First, I find out that I'm some super powerful alien called a Diamond. Then I find out that I'm going through puberty again even though I already went through puberty with my human body. Next Abigail gets captured and finds that she's a Diamond too and then I find out that Asher has been using the idea of chasing after Abigail to chase after me and now this? Honestly I'm so done with this shit!

When I stopped laughing Kari frowned. "Something bad has happened to Abigail hasn't it?"

I nodded. "Listen, if I tell you what happened you have to promise me not to tell anyone! Got it?"

Kari nodded. "I understand."

I sighed, "Abigail's been captured by Dr. Crow and we're working on getting her back! And now Dr. Crow's distorted her perspective on what reality really is! He's pretty much brainwashed her to make her forget ever being Abigail. And well, that's where Ruff-Ruff comes in."

Kari paused and looked at me with confusion. "Say what now?"

I continued, "Since Abigail now thinks she is Princess Black, somehow her soul was able to make sure that her being Abigail came to us to protect us since she couldn't be there. Ruff-Ruff is actually a vessel for a woman named the Princess of Light."

Kari blinked and looked at me in disbelief. "Seriously? Is that why Ruff-Ruff is overprotective of you, more like a guard dog than a pet?"

I nodded. "Yup that's why. Remember you promised you wouldn't tell anyone and I'm holding you to that."

Kari nodded. "Got it! I won't tell a soul! But exactly how are you guys going to even begin to get Abigail back from Dr. Crow? That guy is unbeatable!"

"Yeah I know," I said. "It seems like as soon as we get anywhere near where Abigail is we get pushed back by over at least a hundred of Dr. Crow's agents! It's starting to get on my nerves!"

"I see," Kari said. "Well since I'm not on the assignment to rescue her, there's not much I can do. So why are they saying Abigail's been back from her assignment off and on when she's not here?"

"Do you think that since Abigail's been captured by the enemy that Patty or anyone else that's in charge would want people to find out about it? That would cause panic and chaos and I don't think that's a good idea. And yes Simon knows about this because he's been undercover trying to find out information about where Abigail is. Please, please don't tell anyone about this," I said.

"I said I won't tell a soul," Kari responded. "When something like this pops up I don't want to put anyone in danger that doesn't need to be."

"Good," I said.

Kari frowned when she heard her stomach growl. "Nice now I have to eat that disgusting raw meat!"

"If it helps you can stay in here with me and Asher for your first meal? And it's okay to take your food to your room and eat. I'm pretty sure people don't want to see someone eating raw meat in front of them." I said.

"So that's why you guys eat in your room now!" Kari said. "Makes sense to me. So where do you go to get the raw meat?"

"You'll have to go behind the café and tell the cooks about what's going on," I replied. "Ask for a chef named Aliyah, she'll know exactly what to do."

Kari nodded. "Okay and what if she's not working for the day?"

"Then you'll have to ask Patty about that," I said.

"Alright then," said Kari, "I got all of the information I need to know for now. I'm pretty sure I can figure everything else out as I go along. See you around Ron."

I nodded. "Sure."

With that, Kari got up and left and laid down under the covers and eventually drifted off to sleep.

{Princess Black}

I was woken up the next day with a gentle nudge on my shoulder. It surprised me when I looked over to see it was Dr. Crow that nudged me. "Okay?"

He chuckled, "Well good morning! How did you sleep last night?"

I blinked. "I slept fine. Are you okay?"

"Yeah I'm fine, I'm trying to be nice here," said Dr. Crow. "It's gonna be a tall order for me to do this so bare with me okay?"

I nodded. "Okay sure. So what's going to happen today? Is there any way I can get out of this room by chance?"

Dr. Crow bit the inside of his cheek as if he were debating about something. I sighed because I knew the answer was going to be no. I laid down and rolled over so I wasn't facing him. I figured what's the point of staying awake if I wasn't going to leave this room anytime soon.

Dr. Crow sighed, "Listen I know you need to see something to look at other than the same four walls everyday but I did move you over to my room which has more space than the room you were currently in. It does have a window that doesn't have bars, it's just heavily tinted on the outside so no one can see that you're in here."

"Never mind," I said, "I won't ask again because I know what the answer's going to be."

"I… Um…" Dr. Crow trailed off and I rolled back over to the look on his face meant he was at a loss for words. That was another surprise for me because Dr. Crow is never at a loss for words. He always seems to know what to say and do at the right time. But the look he had on his face now. It made me wonder if he was up to something and if he was I would have to brace myself to see what evil he was up to.

He rubbed the back on his neck and he seemed unsure of what his next move would be. "Okay I'm working on making arrangements for you to get out of this room at least once a day. When that happens I will be the one to accompany you and you will be attached to my hip practically at all times when you do venture out of this room."

I smiled. Although I didn't like the idea that I needed to have a babysitter when I left the room, at least I would be able to leave it finally. Even if it was only once a day.

He smiled back at me. "I take it you like that idea?"

I nodded. "Yes and no."

Dr. Crow raised an eyebrow. "Oh?"

"Well yes because I get to leave this room at least once a day finally," I quickly replied. "No because apparently I need a babysitter for it. But hey, whatever gets me out of this room is fine by me!"

He smiled and my reaction seemed to make him happy because he actually had a twinkle in his eye. I reached up to place the back of my hand on his forehead to see if he had a fever or not. He laughed, "I know you're wondering if I'm sick but no I feel fine Princess. Really I am."

I gave him a skeptical look. "Okay then if you're sure-"

Dr. Crow laughed again. "That's cute you're concerned for me! Yeah Shinjin was a little concerned about me when I decided to start treating you differently than I've been doing lately. You're important to me and I want to treat you like the Princess you are. Do you want to know why I'm making this change?"

"Why?" I said.

"It's because you flipped out on me and said you felt like a prisoner when you're not. True, I did do some pretty mean and nasty things to you," said Dr. Crow, "but I realized that I need to take a different approach to things when it comes down to you. And yes, the government on this planet is looking for you so I need to keep a close eye on you. I've spent way too long searching for you to lose again. You're right about me not being your step-dad though. Because the very moment I came here I found myself no longer married to your mother. Anyway, on another note once you get out this room I'm going to have you fighting my agents on a regular basis that way you'll be whipped back into shape so to speak. And I'm also going to be giving you a weapon for weapon's training."

I paused. "Weapon's training? Why would I-"

"It's complicated, and no you won't be able to have the weapon when you're in this room, got it?" Dr. Crow said.

I nodded. "Works for me, as long as I can get out of this room I'm good."

"Good," said Dr. Crow, "and since you just woke up, you're going to need to eat and then bite someone and you know the drill."

I rolled my eyes and smiled. "Yeah, yeah I know."

I reached up and bit him on the neck without warning. I sat on his lap and kissed him.

"Hmm, so you want to take care of that first huh?" Dr. Crow said. "Okay then whatever you want to do is fine by me."

I didn't say anything, I bit him on his neck again. All I wanted to do at that moment was bite him and I wasn't sure why. Of course it led to us having sex and that didn't surprise me.

I finally brought myself to get out of my room and went over my substitute assignment and tried to work on making a new weapon. But I couldn't think straight. The only thing I could think of was Abigail and my hatred for Dr. Crow for taking her away from me. The weapon I had gotten started on was a short silver blade similar to the blade I made for Abigail. I wondered what happened to her weapon now that she's with Dr. Crow.

Usually I just let whatever material I have speak to me and I make the weapon accordingly. But since I was having a hard time thinking about things I looked down at the pieces of metal sitting on my workbench and I found myself talking to them literally, "Well what do you guys want to be turned into? Something strong? Something weak?"

I paused. "Did I just give you the choice to turn into something weak?" I shrugged. "You know what fine, you can be something weak if you want. Hmmm, maybe-"

"Wow someone's upset if they want their materials to make their choices for them. I didn't realize metal could talk!" I looked up and rolled my eyes when I saw Asher standing there staring at me.

"Well of course metal can't talk, duh!" I said.

Asher snorted. "That's not what I meant Ron. I've seen you talk to your materials when you're upset like that. Most of the time you don't even make a weapon when you can't focus on work." He grabbed a chair and sat down beside me. "I understand. You can't think straight right now and neither can I. And I don't think we'll be able to think straight until we see Abigail again."

I didn't look at him, I just stood there staring down at the pieces of metal on my workbench and nodded. It's a good thing I made my workbench strong enough to withstand a hard punch thrown by a DA because I slammed my fist down on it so hard that if I really was a human that punch would've broken my hand. The punch didn't break my hand, it sent the workbench flying backwards a couple of feet.

Asher jumped out of his chair in surprise then he sighed, "Yeah I know, I had to hold myself back a lot during my substitute assignment you know training DA's how to fight. I've had to take on some of Abigail's students and they keep asking about her. The only thing I can tell them is she keeps being sent out on missions back to back and I don't how many times I can tell them that before they stop buying it. Although I got hand it to Abigail, she's trained her students well. I was holding myself back a lot so I had a hard time keeping up with them."

I smiled at that thought. "Yeah that's because Abigail's pretty tough on her students. If they don't learn something the right way she makes them do pushups and stuff like that until they get what she's trying to teach them down right." I chuckled when I thought about Agent Jaws and him eating all of those cheeseburgers before our mission he went on with us. My chuckle turned into a fit of laughter when I thought of it.

"O…Kay?" Asher said. "What's so funny?"

"I don't know why thinking of how Abigail trains her students made me think of this but remember Agent Jaws?" I managed to say in between my laughter.

Asher laughed, "Oh yeah I remember that guy!" He went into mocking Agent Jaws, "I eat four slices of cheese on all of my cheeseburgers!" He chuckled, "Then he asks Wrinkler out. I have no idea what the guy said to Wrinkler but obviously he didn't like it and gave Agent Jaws a swift kick in the balls!"

"Yeah I doubt Agent Jaws would be able to train Abigail," I said. "Actually I think Abigail would refuse to work with him. She has turned down students in the past because she felt she couldn't work with them and a lot of times it was because those people couldn't keep up with her and her classes are mostly meant for students that are advanced in fighting and not beginners."

"Yeah he probably wouldn't want to work with her either because knowing her she would put him on diet the very moment she saw him." Asher chuckled.

"No kidding." I said. Strangely enough thinking about Agent Jaws and Patty's cheesy jokes made me smile and forget about being upset for the moment.

Asher looked at me and smiled. "Well at least thinking about Agent Jaws helped you smile for a bit." His smile turned into a grin.

I raised an eyebrow. "What?"

"That's it!" Asher said.

"What's it?" I asked.

"Well maybe if we think of all of the good times we had with Abigail instead of thinking of the bad things that are happening now," said Asher. "It will make things better and when we get her back we can make more good memories!"

"Oh I know of a good memory already that makes me want to laugh," I said.

"What?" Asher asked.

"The time you decided to play hero in a game of laser tag!" I laughed.

"Okay, I get it that was pretty stupid," Asher said. "And then she figured out she could do friendly fire so she could get rid of me. Honestly, I have no idea what I was thinking with that one!"

The memory of that day at that laser tag game made me laugh even harder. I finally managed to compose myself but thinking of that memory made me start laughing again.

I jumped about a foot in the air when I heard Kari say, "Hey what yeah laughing about Ron?"

I cleared my throat and composed myself. "Asher and I were thinking of the good times we've had with Abigail."

"Yeah the memory just so happened to me playing the 'hero' at that laser tag where Abigail found out she could do friendly fire on me to get rid of me!" Asher chuckled.

Kari snorted. "Oh yeah I remember that! Exactly what were you thinking Asher? I mean this is Abigail we're talking about here, if she doesn't want to be around you then she'll figure out a way to hide from you."

Asher shook his head. "Honestly I have no idea what I was thinking. I guess I was too preoccupied with keeping her away from Ron at the time."

I smirked because I can read Asher like a book now and the look that he had on his face looked like he was lying. I wasn't sure if Kari picked up on it or not. Honestly, I had an idea of what he might've been up to at that time. I think since he was really trying to use the idea of him chasing after Abigail to cover up him wanting to chase me and he was really trying to sell the idea. Asher was probably thinking that he didn't want to blow his cover if he batted an eyelash in my direction with his 'let's have a healthy competition' idea. Yeah the first on a date with Abigail wins.

I wasn't about to tell Kari what I thought Asher might've been thinking because Asher's secret is mine and his secret. If he wants to tell Kari then that's up to him and it's not my choice.

"Yeah, I can't wait until Abigail gets back," I said. "Then we'll make even more good memories together."

Kari gave a somber look and looked away.

Suddenly, I felt some sort of strange sensation in my left hand and I looked down in horror to see that I was getting ready to change into my wolf form. I looked up. "Would you excuse me? There's something I need to take care of."

Kari and Asher exchanged a look and then nodded. I ran as fast as I could to the nearest bathroom and locked myself in the first bathroom stall. I wasn't going to let anyone see me change into some sort of monster. It wouldn't feel right if I let someone see that.
