“Okay,” The three girls looked at Cassie, “I’m glad you all decided to show up.”

“I had nothing else better to do.” Jessica said.

Cassie ignored her. “Anyways, we can officially start this meeting now. Who wants to start with their ideas first?” Cassie had her laptop out and a blank document open. Quana raised her hand. Cassie smiled. “This isn’t a class room, you can talk whenever.”

Quana lowered her hand before speaking. “I think you should have a satirical thriller with a guy who mistakenly kills his best friend and has to hide it from his parents, but he might have to kill them too!” She said in a menacing voice, everyone just looked at her. “What? I wanna see something like that done.”

Cassie just laughed. “I don’t write thrillers… or horror for that matter.”

Quana pouted and sat back.

“Well, how about you just write about the boys in your life?”

“You never fail to bring them up somehow, Jess.” She just smirked, “Okay, well humor me.”

Jessica sat up and rested her hands on the table in slight excitement. “Okay, don’t do it exactly like your life, otherwise they’ll know. Do it where you pick a few of them and have the main character pick between them. Maybe it’s a romantic comedy or maybe it’s actually serious and she winds up with one of them.”

“I can’t even pick between them in real life, let alone in a story.”

“Then I’ll decide for you.”

“Can I know why you want this done?”

Jessica giggled. “Because you write sex scen-”

“Never mind, I don’t want to know.” Cassie put her attention on Keris who hadn’t said a word yet. “Do you have anything to add?”

Keris nodded. “You should do a nonfiction story about marine warfare, military life on a ship and-”

“Keris, wait. I don’t have the kind of credentials to be writing about stuff like that!”

“Yes you do. Me.”

Cassie sighed.

“Yeah, you and your three minutes of marine experience.” Quana said.

“Do you wanna go through bootcamp?” Quana sat back with pressed lips, “Okay then, so I think you should do this.”

Cassie started at Keris and wrote the idea down.

“She gets a pass, but mine doesn’t?”

“Quana, I already told you—I don’t know how to write thrillers!”

“Still… maybe my idea will allow you to test the waters.”

“I still think she should just write a spicy love novel and move on.”

“Why are you so horny?” Cassie asked.

“I’m not, but when I am, I’ll at least have something to get me hot and bothered.”

“Yeah, your boyfriend.” Keris said.

“Oh, so does that mean Seko doesn’t-” Jessica threw a pack of gum at Quana. “Hey! I’m kidding!”

“Sure doesn’t sound like it.”

Quana giggled and took out a stick of gum before sliding it back to Jessica.

“Guys, seriously. I need more ideas than this and preferably ones with actual substance.” Cassie said.

“Okay, okay…” Quana sat forward, “how about something supernatural?”

Cassie looked at her. “Yeah, but what kind of plot?”

“Well, how about there’s someone going around killing all sorts of creatures; Demons, Vampires, warlocks, witches, Hellhounds, Succubus, whatever the male name of a succubus is-”

“Quana.” Cassie said impatiently .

“Okay,” she got back on track, “but yeah, there’s something going around killing everything and your main character is working with like a wizard or something in trying to kill or exercize the thing that’s doing all this.”

“But wouldn’t getting rid of evil be a good thing?” Keris said.

“Not if those creatures are accepted. That’s murder at that point!” Keris just laughed at Quana. “Whatever, but how about that Cassie?”

“Yeah, it’s really interesting to think about.”

Quana smiled proudly. Jessica then sat up frustrated.

“What about me?”

Cassie sighed, “Jess, you know all my stories are romance, so you got one before any of them did.” Jessica smiled. “But, I think I can work off these ideas. I don’t know when I’ll have even the first draft of this done, but when I do, I’ll let all of you know.”

They all smiled, Jessica was the first to get up however.

“Well, now that Cassie’s work is done with, how about we go and get something to eat?”

“I’m starving!” Quana said, stretching as she got up.

“I’m not paying this time.” Keris said.

Cassie sat staring at her laptop while they all spoke, they then looked at each other before Jessica and Keris grabbed Cassie lifting her out of her seat.

“Hey!”

“Whatever, we all know your lies by now: you’re gonna tell us that you have to work on this and can’t waste any time on us. Well, we know you can. You have a phone and Docs works offline, so just write in the car.”

Cassie sighed as she was essentially dragged off by Jessica and Keris. Quana had been holding her laptop and skipping ahead of them.
