Jaska didn’t know where she was going, but that didn’t matter. Jake’s obsession with Lapine Death Corps meant that they found the spaceship hanger quickly, snuck in and boarded the ship he had the keys to.

“Have you ever flown before?” he asked Jaska.

“Oh yes, plenty of times,” she replied. “I’ve been all over the place.”

“Great. I was worried I would have to teach you now. It would be terribly dangerous for us to fly if it was your first time.”

“Teach me? Teach me what?”

“How to fly.”

“Ohhhh…That’s was what you meant by flown. I’ve never actually flown before, just been flown. Can’t you just fly instead?”

Jake explained to Jaska that the only ship he could get was dual controlled, and it was require them both to be present to fly properly. He pointed out the basic controls, but decided not to bog Jaska down with too much in case she panicked mid-manoeuvre. He could teach her more when she got comfortable.

She looked around at the panels in front of her, not overwhelmed but a little apprehensive. Some movement in one of them took her attention.

“Jakey, there’s someone else in the hangar.”

Jake peered at the screen. “You’re right, and they’re military. We had better go. You ready?”

Jaska nodded, and on three they pressed their big green buttons simultaneously. There was a loud roar, and they hurtled forwards.
