《Alexander Creed: Re-Life》Chapter 268: Production Rationale II

Fortunately, Milla was quick to recover from the disappointment as Charlie toys probably wouldn't define matter much.
"Besides, it may be fun to own the only Charlie toy in existence. Plus, I have that shotgun-strapped lady that you gave me for my birthday as well." Milla seems to have seen the bright side of it. "They're the only ones made so doesn't it mean that they are more valuable?"
"If you think about it that way, then yeah." Alexander agreed to not dive into the issue further but also with that sentiment of rarity as well.
In any case, Cybertronian Toys would always sell well regardless of the human component of its story. So, it should be fine.
------
With that covered, the ToyCon-esque areas of these Creed zone had to be left alone as there were still other things that Milla wanted to go to.
"Alex, why is that whole picture thing done that way?" The girl's next attraction to focus on happens to be the Photo Booth as she commented. "Doesn't the photographer have tricks to make those letters appear even without that kind of background?"
"You're right on photographer tricks. It must be something you picked up from your photoshoot gig."
"Yeah, I learned a lot." Milla seems genuinely happy from that experience as she always smiles a lot whenever that topic is brought up.
"As for why we used that set background and not the photographer tricks... it is to save time, to save cost, and fit this convention's four-day timeline." Editing was a complicated endeavor in this day and age. Taking a picture in a simulated set is much easier than doctoring an entire picture.
Milla didn't really know much about photographer tricks other than it appears in magazines when pictures are plastered with words but she did know it would still take time.
"Wouldn't processing a picture also be long anyway? Even now, I still haven't heard about that back-to-school apparel magazine that I was a part of."
"Advertisement magazines generally take long to prepare so there's not much comparison. Even more so if it's themed with back-to-school."
"Besides, there is still the mail option for this photo booth and the option to pick it up from the photo studio of the person who is doing the photo-taking job." Alexander explained. "People who go to this convention tend to put more importance on these kinds of things and going the extra mile for gimmicky photos. Making these kinds of arrangements agreeable to them."

"Oh." Milla just set it at that. Stuff was still confusing to a little girl like her but it was just interesting to see Alex talk a lot more words.
"You called it gimmicky though... even if you were the one who planned the whole thing. Isn't that the same as calling costumes silly?" Little Milica found this interesting too. "You are contradictory as grandpa Sullivan says you are."
In light of that comment, Alexander just focused on his intentions. "Silly or gimmicky as I think they might be. There's no denying that it works or should have achieved a degree of effect that I wanted it to have."
Truth be told, the [Creed Comics Cover Page] photo booth may be over-the-top but it was something that he found amusing to implement.
Instead of the usual "background" trick to fool people into thinking that the picture was taken right by the Eiffel Tower or the Pyramid of Giza... he adapted it as an illusion of state and not an illusion of place.
Instead of tricking other people into thinking that they went on some enviable vacation, it was a trick of being part of a Creed Comics-esque cover showcase that they see their beloved Creed characters to always be in.
This is the kind of thing that Alexander finds unnecessary but catering to his fan's whimsy and aspirations should be fine once in a while.
Like the Creed Surveys and Popularity Posters, fostering relationships and inclusivity is still something that Creed is still facilitating to its very best.
This entire Comic-Con could be considered fanservice after all and he just wanted to give back a bit.
Of course, there's no denying the "evil" capitalist that Alexander himself has become... and the hidden intent to put the Creed Costumes booth beside that Photo Booth is still about business.
Still, as "genius" as he considered that arrangement to be, Alexander has qualms about the costumes themselves.
Even as he put the Creed Costumes team to give more effort in it... there's no denying that the costumes being processed out of the Costumes booth are a tad lackluster.
It may be because Alexander had seen the absurdly detailed cosplays of the future... but there were a lot of things that he was dissatisfied with when it came to the finished products.

Simply put, it kind of feels like how anime fans would react when they see their favorite characters have live-action adaptations.
No matter how hard the adapted characters try to emulate, there will always be something lacking from it.
He may just be nitpicky but even with just a cursory glance at the costume booth's performance at this convention... he could tell that there really wasn't much market to it. Granted that there people buying, but it seems to be a droll market than how he expected it to be.
It also probably didn't help that a lot of Comic-Con goers had the creativity to make their own costumes themselves.
That passionate motivation and effort are probably what makes their costumes much more appealing than buying them as something ready-made.
Maybe that was the beauty of costumes and cosplay.
Maybe he and his grandfather were just being greedy in capitalizing on that experience.
Whatever the case was... Alexander was pretty sure that this is somewhat their second L when it came to a costume endeavor. Even a lot of things weren't sure yet.
Last year's costume authorization was a bust and this new hands-on approach seems just encroaching and desperate.
It was clear that the whole Costume thing had to be rethought and re-strategized.
The reality of life is that not everything is a winner and his rapid success might have clouded how he usually takes the more rational decisions when doing things.
If one looked at the pros and cons of it, commercializing costumes seems much more trouble than it's worth. Maybe it was his boosted ego that pushed him to believe that he could make a miracle out of it.
Fortunately, this Comic-Con was a platform or more preferably a testing platform for these Creed products.
The true mass production and market dissemination are still months away for this lackluster costume thing to do considerable damage.
In a way, this SDCC splash and Comic-Con hype marketing were useful and as insightful in many ways.
-----
"Something on your mind again, Alex." Milla seems to just know the timings right when it came to whether he was on or off his thoughtful pauses.
"Just a reality dose." Alexander didn't want to divulge any further than that. "Shall we continue with you enjoying yourself?"
"Okay." Milla took that offer and drag Alexander to explore what the rest of the Creed area was offering.
There were still the Creed T-shirts and merchandise to dive into his "mastermind's rationale", "organizer's rationale" or the whole "production rationale" in it.
However, he had already gotten prior insights on those endeavors and it was quite positive.
Those T-shirts and accessories and themed merchandise were generally doing well and had a lot of development options from what he's observed. In fact, he and his grandfather had already mapped up a lot of development options for these endeavors
It wasn't as worrying as his dim as he is considering Creed Costumes to be.
----
In any case, the stroll in the Creed area did end but the buddy-system-ed duo did plan to move on to the non-Creed area for whatever interesting things it might offer.
Alexander could find it to be a beneficial tour as well and it should make his first visit to Comic-Con to be worthwhile. He hadn't really wanted to put much heed to the rest of this Comic-Con but perhaps this exploration could have something more to take away from it.
The entire Creed Costumes bit had been quite worrying but enlightening. Since it was this Comic-Con showcase that finally made him see some light… maybe the rest of the convention has some more lessons to offer.
Or maybe, just maybe… he'll let himself be caught up in the environment of the whole thing and relax a bit. He's had a lot of "production rationalizing" for quite a while and it should be good to ease up and enjoy. Not that would it ever happen though.

Legendary Farmer (available on Kindle July 2022!)
NOTE: Legendary Farmer is now COMPLETE. The first book, Clearing, was released on Kindle Unlimited July 5, 2022 with significant edits. I will post the first chapter of Clearing, as well as three chapters of Cuckoo's Dream, another novel in the LF universe, as a stub, with a link to the first book, so if you love LF and want me to be able to keep writing consistently, please go give Clearing five stars! In the VRMMORPG, Veritas Online, things are getting a little stale. Since the game launched, only one world- wide event has occurred, and that was a year ago.. The players are still having fun, but everyone agrees it’s about time for something big to happen. Everybody tends to forget that big things grow from small things, and little things are always changing in Veritas. The human country of Quarternell is at peace for the first time in... ever. Aspen, a former war hero, feels like he’s earned a quiet life together with his animal companions. They’re tired of fighting, and other people in general. They plan to live peacefully, far away from the city. As soon as Aspen figures out this farming thing out, he’s never going to go anywhere again. Unfortunately for Aspen, his country and his goddess aren’t quite done with him yet.Rouge the Rogue is a casual gamer in Veritas Online. She’s just a kid, and her focus is supposed to be on school and hanging out with friends. Emphasis on ‘supposed to’. She’s already pretty good at the school thing, and she doesn’t actually have that many friends. What she really loves is exploring all the cool ways the developers of Veritas found to make their game unique and realistic. Then she’s offered a very special quest, and an opportunity to go beyond the average player. She’s never been that much of a rule follower anyway....Clearing is appropriate for most ages. It has minimal foul language, no sex, and some violence. It is LGBTQ+ friendly. (P.S. IMPORTANT! This book contains very mild profanity, no sex, and is meant to be FUN. Yes, the characters sometimes think Deep Thoughts, and idealism pretty much runs rampant, but, in the end, I hope you just enjoy reading it. Laugh, cry, share it with your kids, read it to your dog, whatever makes you happy. My goal is for it to be accessible to everyone from ages 12ish on up, so you could definitely consider it YA, but with lots of big words because I don't believe in talking down to my readers.) Book Two: Harrowing (Starts after the original Chapter Fifty, now Sixteen, since I condensed chapters from the same perspective together.) Zoey has started her summer internship at Veritas Corporation, and she can honestly say that being an adult is boring. Until she starts learning secrets she was never supposed to know. In game, Rouge is finally making progress on her big quest. Apparently Duke Penbrooke took too long to return to the world, so the world is coming to get him... in the form of a few assassins. Aspen is going to have to face the life he left behind, and deal with the fact that it's not as easy being 'dead' as he thought. When what he'd hoped would be a short trip back to civilization to resupply turns into a whole lot more, he'll have to fight for his life, his friends, and his kingdom. Book Three: Sowing Rouge and Aspen have reached Bright, only to find that their enemies were already expecting them. They will have to quickly unravel the mysteries of who their opponents actually are, because they're already ten steps behind. Rouge and Aspen are finally home, but that doesn't mean they can return to their peaceful days of farming. Their enemies are hot on their heels and determined to destroy everything they've managed to achieve. Join them and all their friends for the final volume of Legendary Farmer.

Thief of Time
[Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Book 1: The Legend of Tot Synopsis: Claud Primus, a self-declared master thief, has a simple goal. To live forever. It's a rather easy task, for miraculous objects called lifestones are able to extend one's lifespan. These lifestones are best found in the treasuries of nobles, lovely resorts that Claud pays a visit to every so often. Unfortunately, one of those nightly visits go awry, and Claud is forced to escape with just a single lifestone and a box in hand. Normally, that's when things die down. The guards yawn, the gates close, and the night continues. But this time, the night isn't that forgiving. A dozen schemes result in the murder of someone important, and with a convenient scapegoat — Claud — at hand, it doesn't take long for him to be framed as a heinous criminal, wanted for the indirect murder of someone high up...and it just gets worse from there. Book 2: The Moon Lords' Rise Synopsis: As ordered chaos sweeps across Licencia, Claud leaves for Julan Barony, intent on making some profits there. Accompanied by the erstwhile heiress of Julan, a fellow member of the Moon Lords, the two plot against the barony's wealth...as well as a promise to bring about its downfall. Meanwhile, back home, the Moon Lords have busied themselves with digesting their gains. Eyes, however, are beginning to turn to this proverbial fish in a small pond. The fishermen are coming. When they cast their hook, what will Dia and the others do? Book 3: Murders under the Moons Synopsis: In the sleepy town of Nachtville, where Claud and Lily are forced to stop at, a set of nasty murders occurs. Victims scream out in fright, before a spear falls from the sky to end their suffering. Cowed and cautious, the master thief and his partner slink in the shadows, their objective that of home... A new task, however, has fallen on Dia. With a trusty helper at her side, she has to set off towards Nachtville itself, to solve the mystery Claud had abandoned. Faced with an enemy whose sole skillset is geared towards killing, how will they succeed? And what dark secrets will they find? Book 4: In the Dark of the Moons Synopsis: The year has ended. The four months of the full moons will soon be followed by two months of the new moons. Duke Istrel's ascension is around the corner. Amidst this political upheaval, Count Nightfall, Licencia's strongest defender, has been called away. The Moon Lords' largest task yet — to protect Licencia in the absence of its ruler — has begun. And yet, trouble is unrelenting. A distinguished personage, one that Claud fears, has been found dead in the county, his brains dug out and his body disemboweled. The inquisitors of the White Church have been dispatched to investigate and apprehend the murderer...as well as the person behind this puppet. Tormented by a call to fight, Claud directs his eyes out of the city, looking for the puppetmaster. Skulking in the shadows, the master thief will soon confront his greatest foe yet. A foe just like him. Book 5: Moonlit Tides and Darkened Seas Synopsis: A new era has begun. For the privileged, the sands of time dribble away for every passing moment, counting down to the arrival of a entity of mythical proportions. The night now harbours shadows and fog, and operatives of the Moons and the Dark clash in shadow. Claud, as usual, is investigating a spate of nasty disappearances in the city, but little does he know what these disappearances truly mean. And yet, a tide is coming. When it finally breaks, what will he do? Book 6: Secrets in Shadow Synopsis: The person behind a strike that would enter the annals of history flees his home, bringing with him the person closest to his heart into a new land and into a new world. Having left Istrel for the first time in his life, the two of them attempt to settle down in foreign lands, only to be caught in the middle of hostilities between two mighty powers grappling for dominion. Yet, none of that has anything to do with him. Following his desires, Claud eventually makes his way to the fabled Celestia Ruins, a fragment of another world. Bearing witness to truths he cannot yet comprehend, he returns from his exploration, a small break away from the machinations of destiny. One thing, however, is for certain. Destiny will not wait for him. Book 7: Reddest Rage Synopsis: Destiny churns on, heedless of mortal machinations, and Claud watches as the battlegrounds between the Moons and the Dark are drawn up. With the forces of the great Dark occupying Lostfon, Claud comes to a startling realisation — that he may have very well be a murderer of heinous proportions. Grappling with that realisation, he struggles to prepare for his Second Tutorial... Back in Istrel, Dia finds herself confronted with a perennial truth. Even in a time of writhing destiny, the machinations between nobles never cease to end — and unfortunately for her, the group once known as the Moon Lords are forced into dealing with a petty squabble between two counts. What they didn't account for, however, was the startling discovery they would soon make... And the shadow of the Red God's Holy Son behind it all. Book 8: Darkness Descends Synopsis: Nightmares haunt the horizon as Claud sinks and awakens from a seeming dream. What was once illusory begins to play out before him, in a way he cannot imagine. Dia, forced to wield arms, begins and ends a battle that opens her eyes to the vast dangers that lurk in this sundered world. Under the banner of humanity and divinity, she beholds the silent, forgotten protectors of Orb...but there is no forgetting the battle between the divinities. The Dark descends, the Moons writhe, and the horns of war blow once more. But this is not their battle. Not yet. Book 9: Moons Muster Synopsis: As more and more events fall into place, Claud finds himself desperate. Not for himself, but for the person who has turned into his world. Armed with the knowledge of a certain future, he approaches the only person that could possibly help him in his time of need, trading information for a promise of help. With that as solace, he returns to the grim task of understanding and seeking, revisiting an ancient, shattered fragment of another world...unleashing changes that he never knew was possible. Back in Istrel, Dia and the others must now navigate around a familiar spirit, who seeks to investigate the death of his master's Bearer. With them as prime suspects, the Seekers of Life must move carefully...but the Coloured Gods are not the only divinities eyeing them closely. The Moons, bristling from repeated defeats, are looking for new recruits, and the Seekers of Life are prime cannon fodder. Above all, destiny marches on, the unfeeling clock a warning to all. The Trial of Aeons will soon arrive. Book 10: Destiny Divine Synopsis: ??? Release frequency: one every few days or something, I guess.
