《Fallen Moon》Chapter 23: Answers

When Raven returned to Nightshade Campsite with Lycan. Which based on their conversation on the way back. Lycan told her, he'd be busy for the rest of the day. He had to call his father and make arrangements for the war. Once he was done he would discuss war stategy with Jay. He planned to be up all night getting things ready. The wedding was over, now it was time for them to prepare for one last clash with the Vampires.
Time is running out, if they didn't find the Elders soon. Her relationship with Angel could be exposed or worse, they might need to kill each just to keep up the charade so at least one of them lives. No, if it came to that, she'd be the one dying, not Angel. She wouldn't let him throw his life away for her. No, she couldn't think about that right now, right now, she needed to focus on helping Angel find out as much as he can about these Elders. Starting with the-
Raven's dark blue eyes wandered off into the forest where Jay stood. He was hiding behind a tree, his dark amber eyes staring at her. He rubbed his eyes as if he'd seen some kind of mirage, So, just like Alejandro, he was starting to see her too. In truth, now that Raven knew who the woman was. It didn't bother her anymore that most of Nightshade saw her, when they looked at her. Now that she understood it a little better, she could accept it.
"I'll be in my cabin," Lycan kissed her cheek. "Don't bother me, I have business to attend to." He walked ahead of her and toward his cabin in the campsite. Raven's eyes lingered on their fearsome Beta as stood there guarding the entrance to Lycan's cabin like he always did. His arms crossed, his back leaned against the wall, and his eyes closed. Seeing him, reminded her that there was something she needed to return to him.
Raven began to remove the black beaded bracelet with the clover charm on her wrist. When she did, that's when she saw Jayson emerge from his tent. Once his dark amber eyes saw that bracelet on wrist. His gaze became full of anger, he rushed over to her moving so fast, before she see him move, his hand was already squeezing her wrist.
"Where did you get that bracelet?" Jayson growled. "This bracelet doesn't belong to you. So I'll ask again," He glared deep into her eyes. "Where did you get it? Answer me." He squeezed tighter on her wrist.
"What's the big deal?" Raven jerked her arm free of his grasp. "It's just a bracelet." She could feel his anger building just from her saying it was just a bracelet. "Unless, it's not just bracelet," She might be able to use this bracelet to get some information out of him. Seeing as her simply wearing it had Jayson in fit of rage. "So, who did this bracelet belong to?"
"That's ugh," Jayson blushed. "That's none of your business. Just it take it off already, it's not yours." He tried to snatch the bracelet from her wrist but she moved her arm away. "Give me the damn bracelet, it's not yours."
"Then who's is it? Raven asked. "I'll return it to it's rightful owner I just need a name."
"I'm not telling you shit," Jayson glared at her, "Know what fine, keep the damn bracelet, it's not like it bothers me one bit." He stormed off in anger. "You know something else, that bracelet is very ugly and it doesn't look good on you. It almost makes you un-fuckable."

"I disagree, I think it's a very pretty bracelet." Raven put her hands on her hips. "Since it doesn't bother you, I'll just keep wearing it, besides," She smirked. "It's not like I'd want to have sex with you anyway so knowing that it makes me un-fuckable. That only makes me want to wear it more. In fact, I may never take it off."
"Well then fine," Jayson barked. "Keep wearing the damn bracelet. It's not like I care, I just think it's ugly, like your face." He walked into his tent and sealed off the entrance. Did he just call her ugly? She is not ugly, that is no way to talk to your princess. She did not marry Lycan so he could call her ugly. She'll have a word with him as soon as he gets out of that tent. By word, she means she's going to kick his ass until he apologizes.
Raven walked up the steps in front of Lycan's cabin. Their fearless Beta was standing on the wooden patio right next to the front door. His red eyes were closed as he leaned against the wall. "Hey, Al," The moment Raven spoke his name, his eyes opened. She slipped off the bracelet and held it out in front of him. "I think this bracelet belongs to you."
The sadness in Alejandro's eyes the second he saw the bracelet. It was undeniable, this woman meant a great deal to him. So much so, he couldn't stand to see the bracelet he made her. The sadness was only there for a split second. Creating a crack in his tough exterior, a crack, that he was quick to seal. His face once again became emotionless, blank, empty, just like before as if this moment of weakness she saw never happened.
Alejandro slowly shook his head at her and placed his warm hand on top of hers. He made her close her hand on the bracelet. This action concealed the bracelet so he could no longer see it. Once hidden, he gently pushed her hand to her chest. His way of telling her to keep it.
Raven watched as their Beta walked away from her. She knew his intentions. He was going to take shelter in his tent. His way of hiding the storm of emotion that she knew was brewing inside him, just begging to come out. But, he wouldn't let it not even for a second.
"What happened to her?" Raven asked, her words were able to stop him. He slowly closed his eyes and walked into his tent. Somehow, she knew he wasn't going to come out, he would hide there in hopes that he would forget. In hopes of subduing the pain.
Raven walked over to Jay's tent only to see their new Omega, Alexis walking back to camp. She was laughing as she walked into her tent. Her sister Claire came back to camp limping. She had blood running down her jeans. "What happened to you?"
"I don't want to talk about it." Claire walked into her tent.
"Oka-a-a-y," Raven raised her brow. Jay arrived at the campsite. The moment Raven saw him, she rushed over to him. Perfect, just the person she was looking for. If anyone could give her any information on the Werewolf Elder. It'd be Jay, the Tracker of Nightshade.
"Well, well," Jay put his hands in his pocket. "If it isn't the new werewolf prin-,"
Raven began to feel her stomach turn. She wasn't sure what was going on but she felt sick. Perhaps it was still the food Lycan cooked for her on their honeymoon. He was a terrible cook, the food made her sick. She held up a finger at Jay. "Excuse me for a moment," She rushed over to throw up on a bush. That is the last time she eats Lycan's cooking.

"Is everything okay?" Jay placed his hand on her shoulder. Raven quickly wiped her lips off and fixed her hair. The last thing she needed was for Jay to start worrying about. Especially since, Angel might be picking her up for a date. She still hasn't figured out how he's going to sneak passed the entire Nightshade pack and not get killed. Perhaps, her request was too much for him to handle.
"Yeah, I'm fine," Raven dusted herself off . "It's just Lycan's a bad cook. I've been sick all morning, I knew better but I didn't want to hurt his feelings so." She shrugged her shoulders. "I ate his cooking anyway. He may be a Prince but," She poked his chest. "He is a Prince who can't cook."
"I could have told you that," Jay hitched a laugh. "Leader Lycan hasn't cooked a day in his life. You're his first guinea pig. So, it's no wonder you're sick. But you are sick though right because ugh, I'm sure you and Leader Lycan ya know." He created a hole using his hand and went to stick his finger in it to motion sex. "He did stick his private part in yours in a way that could result in a pregnancy. I don't think Leader Lycan knows what a condom is Raven. I don't see his father being the kind of guy to give his adopted son the sex talk either."
"I'm not pregnant Jay," Raven scolded. "I would know if I was pregnant. Okay, I'm not stupid." She glared at him. "Besides," She put her hands on her hips. "If Lycan and I, had a baby. It'd live on mac and cheese. I can't cook either," She confessed, Jay gasped in response.
"That poor child," Jay placed his hand on his chest. "It will never know the taste of a home cooked meal. That's the saddest story I've ever heard." He wiped a tear from his eye. "It's going to starve, Raven, your baby's gunna starve."
"No," Raven argued. "I can make mac and cheese if it's hungry." She pointed out. ''Anyway so um, I was wondering what do you know about the Werewolf Elder?' Jay's eyes widened once the Elder was mentioned. It was like he didn't expect her to know about their Elder.
"There you go," Jay pointed at her. "You're finally asking the right questions." He smiled. "Come with me, we need to talk in private." He walked into his tent, Raven followed him inside. He reached into his ice chest and threw her an ice cold bottle of water. "My family or at least part of it," He reached into the cooler and took out a bottle of water. "They belong to the Elder or at least work for the Elder. Sadly," He opened his bottle of water. "My brother and I," He took a drink from it. "We aren't a part of that branch of our family. So we have no ties to the Werewolf Elder. At least not anymore not since we chose to serve Lord Grimm."
"I see," Raven opened her bottle of water. "So," She took a drink. "You can't arrange an audience with the Werewolf Elder then." She set her water bottle in her lap while she sat on the floor of Jay's tent. He shook his head at her. "Well that sucks, so what did your family do for the Elder if you don't mind me asking?"
"My family, we were intel collectors for Kami." Jay explained. "We would observe Vampires and their abilities and share that info with Kami." Kami? Raven raised her brow. So the Werewolf Elder has a name? Why doesn't it surprise her of all names their Elder could have chosen, he chose one that translates as god. So conceited.
"Kami, that's our Elder's name of course it is." Raven rolled her eyes. "The werewolf Elder claims to be a god, that's rich. Though befitting of Lord Grimm's father. He's just like all the other members of the royal family, entitled."
"Wait a minute," Jay set his water bottle down. "I'm not going to sit here and let you bad mouth our Elder." He glared at her. "Kami didn't choose to be called that. That's the name our Elder was given by the humans. You've been to town, I'm sure you know the story." She shook her head. "You're telling you've been to town several times and you never heard the story of our Elder."
"No, I mean, what would the humans know about our Elder?" Raven asked. "The fact we exist is hidden to them. So, of course they'd know nothing of our Elder. So it'd be pointless to ask them." Jay shook his head.
"They know our Elder, better than we do. They just don't know it's our Elder." Jay answered. "There's this story they tell about a farm boy who befriended a stray wolf. That wolf had the ability to control nature. That wolf is our Elder, the humans called the wolf Kami. That's how our Elder got their name. The story is true, it actually happened."
"So our Elder spent time with the humans." Raven raised her brow. "Why?"
"Kami wanted to test the humans. So," Jay picked up his water bottle and took a drink from it. "Kami decided to live among them as what would seem to be a regular wolf. Our Elder wanted to see how humans treat each other. Our Elder wanted to see if the humans had any redeeming qualities. Because to Kami," He took another drink. "They were selfish and only cared about themselves. That's how Kami saw them, but the Vampire Elder coerced Kami to give the humans a chance. So," He shrugged. "Kami did."
"That's why Kami disguised himself as a wolf." Raven added. "So what happened?" She asked.
"Kami was proven right," Jay answered. "The humans failed the test and Kami left, never to return again. That pretty much sums up the story." He sat on his bed. "The upcoming Harvest Festival is an event celebrated in town to honor the wolf Kami for all it's done to help the humans. It's also their desperate cry to bring Kami back but it won't work. Kami doesn't strike me as the type of person to give second chances." He took a drink for his bottle of water. "So, um, why are you asking about our Elder of the sudden?"
"No reason," Raven shrugged. She couldn't tell Jay that she was seeking out the Elder for the sake of saving her relationship with a vampire. The Elders were their only hope of ending the war and hopefully gaining that happy ending they both so craved. "I just found out we had one and thought I'd ask about it. So, you have no idea where Kami is or have any way to communicate with him?"
"No," Jay answered. "Nobody has ever met Kami in person. Ever since that incident with the humans, Kami made a point not to be found. So, even our most skilled trackers couldn't find Kami even if they wanted to. You know um," He cleared his throat. "I've never told anyone this before but. I think, keyword, think, I've met Kami before. Then again, I could be wrong," He scratched his chin. "I don't know, what if I am, what if it was just some random wolf I rescued." He laughed. "Nevermind forget it," He waved off the words. "It's pointless to bring it up."
"No, tell me," Raven stared into Jay's dark amber eyes. "If you think you've met Kami, then, any information even if it's false could be a huge help. Especially since nobody has ever seen or met Kami in person. So, if I was to seek the Elder out. I'd be going in blind so please tell me the story of how you think you met Kami."
"Okay um, when I was walking in the forest with my-," Jay rubbed his chin. "I guess you could call her my mentor. Anyway, I was eleven at the time. We stumbled across this trap with silver metal teeth, it was unlike anything I've seen before. These teeth would clamp down and trap the intruder with a force strong enough to break a bone."
"So a bear trap," Raven replied. "You're referring to a bear trap. We use them to hunt at least in the part of the world I'm from." She placed her hand on her chest. "The world that is secluded from the war and lives oblivious to werewolves and Vampires. Kind of like our town but much larger in population. You know, the world, you guys pulled me from by biting me." She glared at Jay. "The world where I was famous."
"Hey," Jay glared back at her. "I didn't bite you, a random werewolf did so don't go blaming me for it. I just knew about the plan to use you to weaken your brother. We already knew he was being bit by a vampire. So you being bit, that's strategy whether you like it or not."
"It also ruined my life but okay." Raven shrugged. "We'll call it "Strategy"." She added air quotations to the word. "So you found a bear trap in the forest then what?" She took a drink from her bottle of water.
"My mentor took a picture of it and we left." Jay added. "But," He lowered his voice. "Later that night, I went back to investigate the trap further. See this bear trap you speak of, it was new to me and to us like we've never seen a trap like that before. If it existed, it was only being used by Vampires and Vampires don't typically use traps. They have abilities so they usually rely on those if they're going to use traps. So, this foreign trap had to be used by someone else. So I had to investigate it further and I did later that night." He shrugged. "While everyone was asleep, I went into the woods alone. Where," He lowered his voice. "I met Kami or at least I think I did, I'm not really one hundred percent sure it's our Elder."
"So what exactly did this wolf look like?" Raven asked. If by chance, this wolf was Kami their Elder then she'd have a description to go by. She ran her finger though her hair as Jay took a second to recall the details of that night.
"The wolf had brown fur like a chestnut brown. It looked like your everyday wolf and even smelled like one. Even with my senses, I couldn't really tell this wolf from all the others so if it was Kami. Our Elder is a master of blending in. Let's see what else," Jay rubbed his chin. "Its eyes were a light brown which is unusual for a werewolf and It had to be female judging by the scent." Raven busted out laughing.
"That's not Kami," Raven took a drink from her water. "Kami isn't a woman." She argued. "If there's one thing I'm sure of, it's that our Elder is a male not a female. There's too much proof to suggest that he's a guy, the code being biased toward women being the main culprit."
"But what if, Kami is a girl." Jay argued. "What if you're wrong. I mean, sure the code being biased toward women is an indicator that Kami would be a guy. But, Kami didn't create the werewolf code, Lord Grimm and Lycan did after Kami disappeared. Lord Grimm added the rules about restricting women so what if he did it because he had mommy issues."
"So you're saying our King has "Mommy Issues"?" Raven couldn't help but laugh. Jay's a pretty smart werewolf but to suggest that Lord Grimm created a biased code over mommy issues was ridiculous. There's no way their Elder would let him punish her people over mommy issues. If Kami is a girl, which she's sure Kami's not. She'd be all over that, beating her kid's ass and changing the code herself.
"I'm sorry but there's just no way," Raven laughed. "Kami's a girl. Say you're right and he did change the code over mommy issues. Explain the nudity in the castle." She crossed her arms. "I saw it, women walking around topless their breasts exposed. There's no way Kami would enforce such a rule on women. If she herself is a woman."
"That's easy to explain." Jay shrugged. "Nudity works both ways and I did a ton of research on this. See in Kami's time, the rules weren't all werewolves in the castle had to be topless no back then, they weren't allowed to wear any form of clothing. Kami saw it as the less clothes a werewolf wore, the higher ranking they were and to her being naked and exposed was a sign of respect. So to be in her presence you had to be naked otherwise she wouldn't talk to you. It's not hard to tell why." He continued. "When we go in our werewolf form, our clothes typically tear off so she saw them as restrictions therefore she didn't like us wearing clothes. We could if we wanted to, just not in her presence. Also like I said before, nudity works both ways." He added. "For example, how did you react when you saw my father naked?"
"Um, ugh," Raven's cheeks turned bright red. She could still remember. Alejandro standing in front of her and dropping his pants like it was nothing. His fully naked body exposed to her, his large ego exposed to her and it didn't bother him in the slightest. He was the exact same, emotionless Alejandro but naked. She saw him naked and he didn't care. He just kept walking like she wasn't even there. She was still in shock at the size of his-.
"Well?" Jay asked.
"I would not like to discuss my reaction at this time." Raven answered. "Also, um how is your dad's penis so-," She cleared her throat. "Big? I don't think big is the word I need to use to describe it, it hardly does it justice." Jay's face when she asked him about his dad's penis. She could tell the conversation got weird for him.
"Raven," Jay said calmly, "He's my dad," He added. "Can we please not discuss the thing?" She nodded. "Thank you and if you must know. It's his werewolf transformation, it causes all of his proportions to be bigger than that of your average human. That's why he's so tall and his thing is so, well, you get it. But see," He pointed at her. "Your reaction only proves my point," He added. "Kami could be a woman. The possibility is there."
"No, it's not, Kami's a boy," Raven argued. "I refuse to believe otherwise. In fact, I'm so sure of this. I will give you one hundred dollars. If Kami turns out to be a girl, I promise, I will give you one hundred dollars cash." She held out her hand for him to shake it.
"Fine," Jay shook her hand. "If Kami is a boy then, I'll match it. I'll give you a hundred dollars which I don't carry cash but that's how sure I am that Kami is a girl with boobs."
"No, Kami is a boy with a penis." Raven glared at Jay.
"Vagina, Kami has a vagina." Jay argued. "She's a girl."
"Penis." Raven yelled.
"Vagina." Jay yelled back.
"And," Jayson opened Jay's tent. "If you mix the two together, you get sex, " Raven and Jay glared at him.
"Get out, we're arguing." Raven yelled. She threw her empty water bottle at him. Jayson shrugged and left them alone. "Okay, fine," She let out a deep sigh. "For the argument's sake, what else happened in your story? After you supposedly saw Kami, that's suggesting she's a girl and you saw her."
"Well, when I saw the wolf," Jay rubbed the back of his neck. "It had its rear leg caught in the bear trap." He continued. "It was whimpering in pain and its gorgeous light brown eyes were looking right at me. There was blood on its fur, it was hurt pretty bad and It couldn't get free, So, I felt bad for it." He shrugged. "I walked up to the trap and opened it so the wolf could escape. I guess you could say if it was Kami then I saved her life but again it could have just as easily been a regular wolf."
"I see, so if it was, then I guess Kami owes you one." Raven shrugged.
"She owes me nothing," Jay picked Raven's empty water bottle off the floor. "I didn't do it expecting a favor from Kami." He threw both his water bottle and Raven's in a trash bag. "Like I said," He added. "It could have been a regular wolf. It made no difference to me then, and it makes no difference now. I saved that wolf because I wanted to and not for any other reason."
"I guess, I can't ask you to cash in the favor then." Raven said jokingly. "Anyway, I just wanted to ask about the Elder. I'll see you around." The moment she started to leave Jay touched her shoulder, stopping her.
"Wait," Jay released her shoulder. "There's something else we need to discuss, it's about your test. The werewolf placement test. The one that determines your rank. I know your real rank," He checked outside to see if anyone was around. Once he was finished, he sealed up his tent and lowered his voice a whisper. "I broke into the castle and found your test."
"You what?" Raven shouted. He motioned her to lower her voice, she nodded. "Jay those are my personal files," She whispered. "You can't just invade my privacy like that. Besides if Lord Grimm finds out you did that. He'll kill you. Have you lost your damn mind?" She flicked Jay's forehead.
"I know, it was wrong," Jay rubbed his forehead. "But I had to, something had been bothering me and I needed to know for sure. I needed to see your test results, I swear that's all I looked at and nothing else. I just wanted to grade it myself to be sure." He took a deep breath. "You're not an Omega, Raven. Lord Grimm cheated you, he didn't look at the entire test but I did and I graded all of it."
"Of course he didn't," Raven sat down across from him. "Men and Women are given the same exact test. It's just men are required to take the leadership portion of the test while women are not. I didn't know that at the time so I took the entire test. I wasn't paying attention when he told us that but it's fine," She shrugged. "It wasn't that hard anyway. I once lead a band remember," He nodded. "So, leadership comes natural to me."
"Yes but what you don't understand is," Jay paused. "The Leadership portion is crucial in our test." He pointed at himself. "We are scored differently since we're guys. Our lowest score marks us as Tracker. Women can score lower becoming Medics or Omegas but not men. They're highest score is our lowest score." He explained. "That's why we get ranks like Hunter, Beta and Alpha and women don't."
"Yes, I'm aware of how the test works Jay." Raven growled. "I took it, I got, Omega, the lowest score you can possibly get. I remember being so upset by that, because all the werewolves I was testing with were talking shit. Saying how me, being a werewolf, was a joke. I basically proved them right and it pissed me off. Because, I knew I was better than that."
"You are," Jay agreed. "The Leadership portion determines the Alpha and Beta ranks." He explained. "Hunter is given to guys who excel in the physical portion of the test and score low in all the others. Beta is determined by scoring average in the leadership, high in one of the others, and average everywhere else. But to score Alpha," He took a deep breath. "You need to score high in the leadership portion, high in another section, and average everywhere else."
"Your point is," Raven raised her brow.
"Raven," Jay placed his hand on her shoulder. "You remember your results right?" She nodded. She scored high in the physical portion of the test and she averaged out at the others which marked her as an Omega. "You scored Omega as a female but as a male when the Leadership portion counts. You scored," He brought his lips to her ear. "Alpha, Lord Grimm cheated you."
"Wait, I'm a-,"
Before Raven could even get the word out. Jay quickly placed his hand over her mouth and put his finger over his lips to silence her. Right, Jay broke into the castle to find out her real rank. If anyone found out he did that or that she knows her real rank. He could get into trouble, she couldn't tell anyone about this. But still, she's an Alpha, this whole time, she could have been running her own werewolf pack. Granted she had to be a boy to do so but still, she's the first woman to score Alpha.
"Shh, you can't tell anyone about this." Jay took his hand off her mouth. "I mean anyone, we could both get into trouble. This has to stay between us." She nodded. "I mean it," He pointed out. "You can't tell anyone. I only checked because something about you beating my brother didn't sit well with me. So, I had to look into it."
"Wait," Raven held her hand out. "I fought your brother after I finished the test. You've known this whole time." She punched Jay's arm. "You knew I was a-, this whole time, this whole time you could have told me and you're not telling me until now. Shame on you." She punched Jay's arm again. "How dare you withhold information from me. Especially when it's about me." She pointed at herself. "Shame on you, Jay, shame. Know what?" She shook her head. "I'm mad at you, fuck you, Jay, fuck you." She grabbed Jay's pillow and hit him with it.
The second she did, she saw the photo that was kept under Jay's pillow. It was of the woman she saw with Alejandro. So, what she saw that night, it was a vision of the past. There was no mistaking it now. At one point this woman existed, she was a member of Nightshade but was long since forgotten. They were trying to bury her memory but why?
"My mother," Jay answered. "Well not my birth mother but still my mother." He shrugged. "You're wearing her bracelet, you know." He pointed at her bracelet, the one she found at the beach. "She always wore it, she said it was a good luck charm. Alejandro made it for her. You'd think I'd be upset seeing another woman wearing it but I'm not." He forced a swallow. "You remind me of her but in some ways you are different. You're like a better version of her, she always wanted to be the first woman Alpha. You beat her to it, it's fitting really," He put his hands in his pockets. "That you'd be the one to surpass her. I just hope you and her don't share the same fate."
"What happened to her?" Raven stared at the photo. It was a picture of young Jay and Jayson. The woman sitting there on a couch, Alejandro next to her as Jayson tried to play fight with him. It was easy to tell that Jay was partial to his mother while Jayson was partial to Alejandro.
"She died four years ago, I was twelve when it happened." Jay grabbed his pillow and put it over the photo. "I'd rather not talk about it, she's dead and there's nothing I can do about it. Of course," He laughed. "That's how it usually is, someone dies and I'm too weak and pathetic to do something about it. It wasn't enough to lose my first mother, I had to lose a second. But this time it's different," He nodded to himself. "I'm older now, I'm stronger and I'm not going to be a coward. This time, I'm going to protect those I love or die trying. I won't let what happened to her happen to anyone else. So um, I'm curious," He sat on the floor across from her. "Where did you find my mother's bracelet?"
"It was on the beach," Raven sat across from him. "There was this place with three surfboards and a message that read "Never forget." I was out walking late at night and," She paused as she recalled the moon that night. She could feel it compelling her, bringing her to that location as if it wanted her to go there. It was a strange feeling that she still didn't fully understand.
"Jay," Raven ran her fingers through her hair. "Do you remember when you told us that our bodies had a special connection to the moon? It was moments before our first full moon, when my sister and I first joined Nightshade."
"I remember," Jay crossed his legs sitting indian style on the floor. "Though usually, it only allows us to predict the next full moon. Why did something happen while you were on the beach?"
Raven wasn't sure if she should tell Jay what she saw that night. The fact remained, the moon had called her to that spot, she was being compelled to go there. When she got there, the things she was shown. She began to see flashes of Alejandro having sex with the woman Jay called his mother. Perhaps, it's best she didn't tell him.
"Know what um, never mind," Raven rose to her feet. "It's probably nothing," She started to walk away but Jay grabbed her arm.
"No, it's not, if something happened you can tell me." Jay stared into her eyes. "Please, that location you spoke of. I know it, it was their spot, Lycan, my dad, my mom, they always hung out there all the time. I only saw it once when I was a kid but I know that place. What did you see? Is my mother's tent still there?" Raven shook her head. "So, it's gone, I guess my dad finally burned it down. That was all we had left of her, aside from my picture and that bracelet." He spoke softly. "I guess, it was time, we can't live in the past forever can we?"
"No, you can't," Raven agreed. "Unfortunately, you have to move on. That's just how living works. I'm sure, you loved your mom, but she's gone. Dwelling on the past, isn't going to bring her back. That's just not how it works."
"I know that," Jay lowered his head. "It just sucks," Raven saw Jay's cell phone screen light up and his ringtone go off. He grabbed his phone looking at the Caller ID. "It's Leader Lycan, it's time for the strategy meeting. I gotta go," He rose to his feet. "Hey um, Raven, do you think could convince Claire to give me and my brother an extra vial of her blood for the war?"
"Sure, I'll ask her for you." Raven rose to her feet. "Though, I don't see why you couldn't ask her yourself. Seeing as, she'd probably do it for you anyway."
"I would but she's mad at me," Jay explained. "I might have thrown a knife at her leg by accident during a sparring session." Raven cringed. "Yeah, she's pissed, but in my defense, she threw the knife at me first. So, it was in self defense."
"Wow," Raven put her hands on her hips. "You threw a knife at my sister. Wait, don't you have a crush on her?" He nodded. "Jay," She scolded. "That is not how you get girls. Did Alejandro not teach you how to get a girlfriend?" He shook his head at her. "Did he teach you about girls at all?"
"Kind of, just the basics," Jay shrugged. "I know how sex works, I also know girl's have this thing that happens once a month. I forget what it's called though."
"It's called shut up and don't talk about it." Raven advised. "Anyway, next time, don't throw knives at the girl you have a crush on. Throw it somewhere else, it's common sense. She's not going to want to date you if you throw a knife at her."
"I know, I totally missed the mark." Jay confessed.
"No you hit the mark, that's the problem." Raven replied. "See, Claire's not mad you hit her, she's mad because you caught her knife and threw it back at her. It's a bruised ego, she'll get over it. But most importantly," She smirked. "I told her if she kept throwing knives at people, eventually someone was going to catch it and throw it back at her. So, now, I get to rub it in her face, sorry, but as her sister. I kind of have to."
"I don't blame you," Jay laughed. "If it was my brother, I'd tease him too." Jay's cell phone went off once more. "I'd better go, we both know how slim Leader Lycan's patience is." He walked off heading towards Lycan's cabin for the meeting.
Raven went to the stream to start getting ready for her first date with Angel. The question remained. How is her daring Vampire Prince going to sneak past the entire Nightshade pack and rescue his Princess? That's if he even manages to find their campsite, which that in itself is quite a feat. She couldn't wait to see just how skilled Angel really is.

Keeper
When I first woke up I knew only three things: My name is Reiza, I have a seed I need to care for, and a song. I was told that the forest I woke up in was mine and that I needed to take control of it and protect it. The only things standing in my way are nature itself, a bunch of strange floating boxes, and a group of crazy powerful creatures known as the forest queens. Sounds pretty simple right? It might be if it weren't for the fact that I have absolutely zero memory, but hey at least I know my name. Also apparently my enemies aren't only inside the forest. Forces from the outside got news that somthing was going down in my new home and are coming to crash my party. Can I claim this forest? Can I protect it? And most importantly can I figure out who I am and what's going on? I'm not sure but I'm going to try. Hey everyone I'm fairly new to writing novles and this is my first time ever putting my work on a site like this one. I hope you enjoy the story and would appreciate your feedback. I would ask that you read through at least a couple of chapters before leaving a rating. I know I have some trouble with grammer and how I structure some of my sentences and while feedback on that is appreciated what I would value most is feedback on the story as a whole in terms of how the plot works and if you are enjoying it or not.
