《Rise of the Protector》Chapter 13: Deep Red

Ravok kept his distance, he wasn't sure if the figure in front of him was friendly like Red and Blue, but at the same time, he did not want to seem distrustful in case they were. He was ready for an attack, holding one of his hands open, a gesture that the man seemingly picked up on.

"I found the man responsible for the disappearance of two of our soldiers" He held his hand out as he spoke, a single blade appearing in his hand. The tip of the weapon was odd, it ended at the same point a standard sword would, but it went further down, looking like a sharp upside-down anchor of some sort.

In return, Ravok couldn't help but look confused. "I am not responsible for anything.. wait, let me…." But before Ravok could speak, the man jumped forward with his blade at the ready. His body started to display a beautiful pattern of crimson glow as the blade connected with the axe that Ravok suddenly materialized.

As the axe appeared, the man only seemed to get more upset. The force itself was strong enough that Ravok had to move back. The man yelled loudly, "What the f*ck did you do to them!?!"

Ravok wanted to respond, but the coming swings required his full attention. He created the blue axe in his other hand, attempting to swing it to the man's side. Yet the man jumped backward, allowing Ravok a moment of respite.

"I didn't do anything to them! They saved me!" Ravok yelled back as he kept his axes ready for another flurry of blows.

The man moved his way towards Ravok. He was much faster than the person in the suit he had seen before, as Ravok had difficulty even reacting to his advances. Each swing felt like it contained enough force to stop a car and was fast enough to match this force. His eyes were filled with anger as the blade struck upon his axes over and over.

"You are using their f*cking power as we speak, do not bullshit me, human" He could barely contain himself from foaming with this anger, and with that anger, each blow felt like it was getting stronger and stronger. Ravok tried to calm down, to let Red and Blue out to show him that they were not here by force. But because he kept defending himself, he realized there was no opportunity to let them out.

Red and Blue exchanged a look of worry. They wanted to know more, but they couldn't let Ravok die, especially as that would mean that Red's life would again be in danger.

Ravok kept his axes close, never lashing out and staying on the defensive while retreating backward until he was at the roof's edge. Any decisive blow could send him flying at this point, and he had very few options besides trying to convince this man. "I am not… f*cking… using them…they can choose to give their power…just stop f*cking fighting so we can talk," He says as he stands at the edge. At this point, he would have to defend himself to stop this battle from falling onto the street. He let the axes he was holding disappear, the energy gathered up within dissipating into the air, leaving a cloud of neon glow for only a few seconds.

"Not my orders to listen, asshole," The man yelled as he dashed forward, his blade reaching forward, crimson sparks jumping from the edge as its crackling filled the air. The moment he came just within reach, he twisted it to the side to quickly shift its motion. Ravok wanted to bait out an attack, but he did not expect the follow-up attack to be even faster than the attacks he had encountered. The blade pierced through his shoulder before he managed to duck down, the red and blue blood flowing out of the wound as he held out his hand, creating the sizeable blue axe in his hand, the lower part of the axehead wrapped around the man's leg. He managed to pull his leg from underneath him with one swift pull.

As he fell backward, Ravok grabbed his leg with his free arm and, in one quick turn, threw him behind him off the building. He followed it up as he attempted to throw the axe right after, but as it left his hand, the weapon started dissipating. Despite him trying to concentrate on its shape and being, despite having the knowledge and experience of how Red does it, the weapon disappeared in its cloud of smoke. Ravok used this moment to jump right through as he made the red axe appear in his hand, swinging it with all of his strength through the newly created cloud.

The man was surprised as he rebalanced himself in mid-air, holding his weapon tightly as he looked up at the cloud. His mind was racing as it was clear he had no idea how Ravok managed to push back and not crumble in only a few blows like the people in suits he had seen before. Suddenly the cloud parted as Ravok flew threw, his weapon ready to strike downwards, exposing his body as Ravok instinctively grabbed hold of the weapon with his second hand. The moment it touched, blue veins started appearing on the axe as if the newfound energy was trying to break through and mix with the Red. The man brought up his blade to protect himself, a confident smirk appearing on his face. He could easily read the direction, and if he blocked this, he would be able to make a precise strike to the gut. But when the axe connected, he was physically pushed downward, unable to keep himself up in the air as the force was heavy enough to make the two fly down to the street. He barely managed to land with both feet on the ground as he looked Ravok in the eye.

Luckily enough, there was little to no life around. People were either still at work or inside doing their own thing, and as such, Ravok felt calm, there would be nobody that would act suspicious of him standing here in his regular clothing with his weapon drawn.

However, the man suddenly seemed irritated as he started looking around him, searching for something that Ravok couldn't see. "F*ck," He stated in the same angry manner that Red did. "This isn't the f*cking end, human…seems like your friends are coming to your aid…." He frowned as he leaped backward, Ravok wanted to swing his axe as he did, but Red yelled inside of him to stop.

Frozen instance, his axe finally shattered as the blue pushed its way through the weapon. The color of his clothing and eyes faded away back to their usual duller selves. Ravok finally let out a sigh as he spoke. "Who the f*ck was that" The adrenaline in his body was still pumping at full force.

A confused Red responded in his mind. "His name is… Tets…?" She said as she looked at and held her hands on her head. A memory of Tets fighting Red wielding the same weapon they used. Red wielded her axe that she swung with great force, only for Tets to quickly jump out of the way and come back with a flurry of swift blows. The both of them were yelling and screaming with each hit. The memories were fuzzy and strange like information was still missing as she spoke.

Blue looked at her, thinking for a moment. "I don't remember that name…." She said as she closed her eyes, trying to match that name with the person she had just seen, but nothing came to her mind.

Ravok spoke up as he quickly walked back to his house, worried that Tets mentioned friends coming to his aid and that he now knew where he lived. "So.. you know him?"

Red only nodded in answer. Somehow Ravok could feel her doing so as he slowly made his way back into his home. The two of them quickly jumped out once they arrived in his bedroom.

Red looked at the ground, holding her head, trying to make sense of the things going through his head. There was anger when she saw him, fury even, but care and love. Worry and hatred. As these feelings started swirling in her mind, the color of her hair started flaring up, wisps of bright red drifting around her, the swirls of color drifting out.

Suddenly she felt arms being wrapped around her. She looked to the right and noticed that Blue was holding her. "It is okay. We will figure it out" Blue spoke as if she was speaking to a child, a strange motherly voice that sounded alien coming from her.

Red grasped her arm, leaning into Blue as she closed her eyes, her mind at ease as she relaxed. The wisps disappeared as she let herself calm down. "Yeah… I know… but thank you." She looked up at Ravok, wanting to say something but hesitated.

Ravok nodded at her, waiting for her to decide to speak. Nothing he could do or say would help her in her sudden confusion. Despite knowing her, he did not know her. He could see her memories, some of her time with Blue here, and knew the feelings that accompanied them, yet they were distant as if watching someone's memories through a futuristic television.

Red made her decision as she spoke up. "We can't kill him…." She said as she looked at him. Yet Ravok shook his head for a moment with a smile. For a moment, Red's anger began to boil up before she could burst out.

"I thought as much…but we might have to hurt him," Ravok jokingly said as he crossed his arms, closing his eyes for a moment. Not sure if Red was to either yell at him or laughed at him for saying that.

As he spoke, Red smiled, nodding as she said. "I am looking forward to it." She slammed her fist into her open hand as she jumped out of bed. Her usual energetic self was back like nothing had happened as Blue let her go, giving her a small smile.
