“Girl, you’re looking fine this morning,” the doorman at Luciano’s said. He grinned. “I should frisk you.”

“It’s the boots. People seem to think they do something for my legs,” Zoe replied smiling at the doorman. “And frisking me might get you in trouble.”

“Might be worth it,” he countered winking at Zoe while opening the door for her.

“I don’t think so,” Zoe replied giving the man another smile as she walked through the door. “Thanks for the compliment too.”

“You’re welcome,” the doorman said as the door swung shut. She took off her sunglasses. Zoe’s Kaisers immediately adjusted to the indoor lighting making her smile. That never got old.

“Zoe! Welcome back to Luciano’s,” Russell greeted Zoe when she walked into the main dining room. She noticed he didn’t check her out beyond paying attention to her hair, which was a pleasant surprise. “Can I get you anything to eat or drink?”

“No thanks. I’m covered,” Zoe replied shaking her straw before taking a sip of water. She noticed Hounds and a few other programs patrolling the restaurant giving her conformation that the place was one of Luciano’s bases of operation.

“I like what you’ve done with your hair,” Russell complimented her as a Hog sniffed up to Zoe. She reached a hand down to see if she could rub it and the daemon shied away making her smile.

“Thanks for the compliment. Most men never notice a woman’s hair,” Zoe replied.

“True,” Russell agreed. “Maybe that will change in another couple hundred years when every man is gay or after someone codes a program to make sure men notice that sort of thing.”

Zoe laughed at the joke to be polite. She didn’t think it was funny but didn’t want to offend the man.

“So, is Mr Luciano around?” Zoe asked.

“Afraid not and he really wanted to see you again, but Donnie is occupied right now. I have the letter you need though,” he said picking it up from the table he was sitting at. Zoe took the letter and placed it in her backpack. She then sent Russell digital conformation that she had the letter and Cartier Transport would deliver it today. “Any chance you can get that to Morello’s before lunch?”

“Unfortunately, no. I must pick up Mr Capone’s letter next and it’ll take nearly an hour to get to his restaurant from here,” Zoe answered. “It’ll take over an hour to drive to Morello’s in Oakdale from the Bronx.”

“Alright. Here’s a tip from Donnie,” Russell said sending Zoe a 200-credit transfer. Zoe opened her mouth to protest, but he waved her off. “The boss wants you to know you can come to us if you ever need anything, and between you and me, the boss believes in giving big tips.”

“Well, I appreciate it,” Zoe replied. “I’ll see if I can shave some time off my drive to show my appreciation.”

“Don’t get in a wreck or a bunch of tickets,” Russell said. “Just as long as it gets there before this evening everything will be ok.”

“Aright. See you when I see you,” Zoe replied as she turned and started toward the exit.

“Geez Zoe!” Jimmy said instead of greeting his cousin after she walked into Capones. “Did you dress up like that to tease Tommy?”

“No. I dressed like this because it’s hot today and I wanted to wear my hair down,” Zoe replied. Zoe kicked her left leg out. “Besides, it’s the boots you’re noticing.”

“Yeah…ok,” Jimmy said in disbelief. “You keep thinking that.”

“I will,” Zoe cheerfully replied. She noticed the same daemons and ICE running around Capones as was running around Luciano’s. “Is Tony or Mr Capone around?”

“Yeah. Tony’s in the main dining room. Nucky hasn’t come in yet,” Jimmy answered. “Give me a couple minutes to distract Tommy and I’ll message you when the coast is clear.”

“Alright. Thanks Jimmy,” Zoe said before hugging her cousin. He returned the hug briefly and quickly headed into the main dining room. She smiled. “Aunt Anne did say he’s never been one for displays of affection.”

A moment later Jimmy messaged her that Tommy was distracted. She sent a thank you message and walked into the main dining room.

“Hey Tony,” Zoe greeted the underboss.

“Hey Zoe,” Tony returned the greeting. He pointed to an envelope on the bar beside him. “Here’s the letter.”

“Thanks,” Zoe replied walking over and picking up the envelope. She put it in her backpack and sent Tony the same conformation she had Russell. “Tony, if I may ask, why didn’t you call me directly instead of going through Henri for this?”

“Vinnie decided to go through official channels,” Tony shrugged. “I think he just wanted to throw some business Cartier’s way.”

“Ah.”

“Now, hurry up, make the delivery, and return here. I’ll have something for you to take to a bank,” Tony said.

“Really?” Zoe asked. “I’m surprised you guys…”

“What? Use banks?” Tony replied laughing.

“Well, yeah…”

“You’ve watched too many movies kid. Everyone uses banks,” Tony said.

“Alright. I’ll be back,” Zoe replied. She turned and exited the dining room. Tony watched her go.

“Maybe I should talk Nucky into using someone else for the bank job,” Tony muttered to himself. “Zoe’s a real looker and good kid. It’ll be a shame for her to take the fall.”

“You’re getting soft in your old age,” Vinnie said from the corner booth he was in.

“Perhaps,” Tony replied.

“For what it’s worth, I agree with you about the girl. I’ll talk to Nucky with you if you really want to try and talk him out of this,” Vinnie said. “She would make a much better Dame or girlfriend than fall guy.”
