《The Billionaire's Pup》Chapter 45

It was almost midnight.

I ran my comb through my hair, undoing any tangles while my eyes were fixated on the clock. Any moment. King was going to be here, and I didn't want to get late. Everything was done, I had showered, changed, eaten and now, I was all prepared for the one day get away he wanted to give me.

"So, I shouldn't say anything if Carol comes looking for you, right?" Beatrice asked, hanging off my dresser.

I nodded, "Yes. She won't wake up till late in the morning but if she does before that, say you know nothing and then she'll call me. I will deal with that." I stroked my hair once more before setting the comb aside.

Aunt Carol went to sleep almost an hour ago. I didn't want to wake her up and disturb her. It would be a lot better if she slept till the next morning as then no questions would be asked.

"Are you going to be fine alone?" I turned to Beatrice and asked her. She had been enjoying her time in the town and I felt bad for leaving her alone, even for a day. We had been reunited after almost seven years.

"Oh, don't worry. I'm going to stay up late. Going to facetime a few friends and my mom as well. Then, I've to complete the rest of the research." She jumped off my wooden dresser and it creaked as she did. She placed her hand against my shoulder and continued, "But you have fun and if you get kidnapped, send me a message and I'll be on my way."

I laughed as she joked. Unfortunately, it wouldn't be the first time I would be kidnapped by King. This time, the difference was that I was willing to go with him. I wanted to give him a chance, I wanted to see who he was and what was his life like.

"Sure!" I grabbed my bag off the table and placed the strap over my shoulder before returning my eyes to Beatrice. "Take care. I'll let you know when I'm back—probably a day but then, we can have some time for ourselves as well, maybe a girl's night." I shrugged, giving her a little something.

She immediately grew excited, "I can't wait for that!" She exclaimed, jumping a little.

The sound of a car rolling up on the street made its way to my ears. I could hear it, but Beatrice couldn't. I supposed it was one of the abilities I had been gifted with after I shifted.

"All right. Goodnight. I will see you soon." I whispered while unlocking the door to my bedroom. Slowly, I pushed the door open and stepped outside without making any noise. In order for Aunt Carol to sleep peacefully, I need to leave the house without making her or anyone else around suspicious.

"Have fun!" Beatrice said as I walked down the stairs.

The house was dark. There was only one source of light, and it was from the streetlights outside that brightened up the living room a little. I carefully stepped down the stairs and took my time to reach the entrance door.

Once out, I blew out a heavy breath before turning around and making my way to King's car—a car I had seen way too many times now.

One day.

I had to give him.

Instead of finding King in the car, I found a different man. He stepped out and walked over to my direction. For a minute, I stayed confused until I saw his clothing. A driver?

"Ms. Eos, I presume?" His hand wrapped around the door handle at the passenger seat in the back.

"Yes." I replied.

"Great. I'm Arnold and I'll be driving you to Mr. Emerson." He said before opening the door to the car and letting me inside.

I quietly slipped in, holding my bag tight while my nerves bundled up. Where was King? Was I getting kidnapped again? I shook my head, hoping the terrible thoughts would vanish.

Arnold sat on the driver seat, and he began driving the car out of my street. I carefully watched him as he drove across the town in the middle of the night. My anxiety was on the roof and mainly because I was told not to be with strangers or sit with strangers all my life.

Anything could happen.

Anytime.

"Don't worry, I'm not going to kill you. I merely taking you to Mr. Emerson." The man said, hearing my thoughts.

My lips parted. How did he know?

"I can smell you panicking..." He trailed off.

Fuck.

A werewolf. That's what he had to be in order for him to smell me and what I was feeling. King told me it was common for werewolves to sniff out certain feelings.

I blew out a breath and rested back on the passenger seat. My eyes wandered outside, and I stopped worrying. Nothing was going to happen.

Arnold continued driving for a couple minutes before bringing the car to a halt inside the airport, just at the same location where I had been yesterday, when King was about to leave for the city.

Was he taking me somewhere?

From the corner of my eyes, I found him, standing underneath the moonlight with his broad shoulders and a pair of clothes covering everything I desired to see. It had just been a few hours. He smiled at me from a distance before approaching the car and unlocking the door on my side.

"I was waiting for you." He said, stretching his hand out to me.

I placed my hand over his, feeling every inch of my skin tingle before standing up and getting out of the car.

He leaned in a placed a kiss on the side of my cheek before whispered a few words in my ears, "Didn't I tell you not to dress up?"

Lowering my eyes, I saw the red dress flow down from my thighs. It was a little netted chiffon dress I had bought a while back but never found an occasion to wear it, until tonight.

"I don't think so you told me," I looked at him, watching him get all provoked. Maybe I wore it for myself or maybe I wore it to tease him. Who knew? I wasn't wearing anything underneath the dress. "Or maybe I don't remember it." I shrugged.

It was going to be a long twenty-four hours.

"That's fine. You can always change." He smiled while slipping his hand over my waist and curling his arm around me.

"That's if I want to." I breathed out. The warmth grew between my legs as quickly as it did between his. "Where are we going? I thought it would be something more casual—like spending a day on the bed or a bookstore." I questioned, looking around and finding the same private jet parked nearby.

This wasn't what I had in mind when King asked for a day.

"Oh, no," He laughed while shaking his head. I walked along with him toward the jet and the staircase that descended from the jet. My breathing grew sharper and rapid. "I'm taking you somewhere." He held my hand tight while leading me up the stairs.

"Where?"

I was panicking. It had been a long time since I left the town and I dreaded what it was like outside.

"Hildon." He replied as we stepped inside the jet.

I shuddered, "The city?"

"Yes."
