《Azure Chronicles》Chapter 54: Tournament Build Up Part 2

Alex marched across the beach while making a line in the sand as she dragged the pummel of her dawnite polearm through it. She came to a stop when she reached the point where she started drawing the line before stabbing her polearm into the ground and straightening her black bikini.
"Are you sure these are the right size, Liz; these feel kinda tight?" Alex asked as continued to fiddle with her bikini. Elizabeth, who was in the middle of sunbathing, glanced over at Alex and lifted her sunglasses to get a better view of Alex.
"Well, when I asked for some in your size they said the only ones they had close to that size were half below or a whole size above," Elizabeth explained, "I'm sure you'll manage," she added before going back to sunbathing.
Luna was angerly gritting her teeth as she and Heather exited their changing tent, wearing high school swimsuits.
"Curse you, Lizbeth," Luna muttered under her breath. Heather nodded her head as she was looking at Elizabeth.
"I agree, it doesn't seem fair that she gets to hog one of the sunbathing spots when vampires can't get tans," Heather mentioned before walking off.
"That wasn't..." Luna managed to say before defeatedly sighing and following behind Heather while complaining about her fairy genes to herself.
"Alright, girls, since Ruby and Sophia won the rock paper scissors to decide who gets to enter the tournament with Zalroth-sensei, I thought it would be a good idea to do some dodge volleyball as training," Charlotte explained as she reached into the storage pouch, the one she got from Zulcrestus' lumos clone, and pulled out a volleyball.
"Though it is kind of strange sensei decided to put a volleyball in the supplies he gave us," Ruby(in a pink bikini, pink shorts and her red hoodie) remarked as a blushing Sophia walked over while covering her body with a beach towel.
"How embarrassing," Sophia quietly muttered to herself before stopping next to Ruby; Ruby noticed Sophia was blushing and shivering.
"What's wrong, Fifi?" Ruby asked as she placed her hands on her hips.
"I-it's nothing; I'm just cold," Sophia replied as she slowly took the beach towel off and revealed the white bathing suit(with a frilly red skirt on it and a red heart on the chest) she was wearing.

"Oh. My. Gods. You look so cute in that," Ruby giddily said as she placed her hands on her face. Sophia meekly sighed as she tied the beach towel around her waist.
"Thanks..." Sophia embarrassingly said while readjusting her golden metal eye patch. Ruby tilted her head as she inspected Sophia's outfit.
"Although I think it looks good on you, it doesn't seem like something you'd choose to wear," Ruby remarked which made Sophia sigh again.
"The last time I was at the beach my swimsuit got torched and when I asked sensei if he had any beachwears in my size this was the only one," Sophia explained. Alex raised a finger before crookening it as she had a few questions.
"Wait... your clothes got set on fire... wait that's not important; why does your sensei have female swim...wears?" Alex asked.
"Well, it was actually Lola who had it," Sophia explained.
"Right..." Alex said as she rubbed the back of her head.
"How about we put this swimsuit talk to one side and get the dodge volleyball underway," Charlotte requested as Heather and Luna arrived at the make-shift volleyball pitch, that Alex made. The six of them split into two teams(Charlotte, Alex and Heather on one side and Sophia, Ruby and Luna on the other, with Heather and Luna as the "goalies") before Charlotte started the match with a powerful slap to the volleyball.
The loud sound of the strikes and kicks caught the attention of Star, Lola, Scarlett, Snow and Kusana(who were all wearing frilly swimsuits that matched their hair colours) before they turned back and looked at Zalroth(who was still wearing his usual clothes) as he was looking around until he spotted Minia(in her casual wear as well) walking towards the group.
"Have you seen Nola; she was gone when I woke up this morning?" Zalroth asked as the kids were kneading his tails, with Minia sitting down whilst scratching her head.
"Oh yeah, I woke up just before her but, when she woke as well, her face turned super red, like a fire slime, before she jumped into a portal," Minia explained.
"Does that mean sister Nola is back to normal and we don't need to pretend she's my auntie anymore?" Nola asked.

"Probably... well as normal as she can be, heh," Minia remarked as Zalroth was rummaging through his tails. He quickly pulled out an empty azure gem and the azure gem embedded inside of the earth mana crystal; all of the kids instantly sat up straight and intently stared at the two gems.
"Alright as promised, I will now give you a diluted lesson on azure gems and azure crystals," Zalroth said as he placed the azure gems in front of the kids.
"What do you mean diluted?" Lola asked. Zalroth rubbed his eyes and picked up the empty azure gem.
"Azure gems are a phenomenon where magical energy gathers around people's soul, which becomes an azure crystal; the glowing light inside the azure gem, which is a physical manifestation of magical energy..." Zalroth explained with all the girls, including Minia, were completely lost and giving each other perplex looks.
"You see what I mean? Me giving you an in-depth explanation is like you playing the final boss battle of a game with a level one character, do you catch my drift?" Zalroth asked as he handed the empty azure gem to Lola. Lola and the girls nodded their heads while glancing between Zalroth and the azure gem.
"Alright, now for a more kid digestible explanation... ok; azure gems are the, as you can see, special formation of mana that allows for azure crystals, the glowing bit inside the gems, to be stored and then absorbed or used in a weapon, or something like that," Zalroth explained. The girls intently nodded their heads at Zalroth's explanation.
"So, they're like batteries?" Snow asked and Zalroth contemplated Snow's question before answering.
"We'll, it would be more effective to use a concentrated mana crystal but maybe... actually it would be too complicated to explain, so let's just say maybe," Zalroth replied.
"So does that one have a magic thingy inside it?" Scarlett asked while pointing at the azure gem inside the earth mana crystal. Zalroth was about to confirm Scarlett's question before noticing the azure gem was, unlike a normal azure gem, super opaque.
Zalroth picked up the gem before glaring at it. He grabbed ahold of the gem and the mana crystal before pulling on them with a slightly serious amount of force. The opaque azure gem eventually broke free of the mana crystal, causing it to crumble to pieces, and revealing the azure gem was actually an azure core. The girls all gathered around the azure core while frantically asking what it was.
"It appears it's an azure core, and to put it simply if someone whose azure ability hasn't awakened touches it will have their azure ability forcibly awaken-" Zalroth said and mid explanation Scarlett, Snow and Star lightly slammed their hands on the azure core without hesitation. They blindly stared at the azure core before glancing at Zalroth when nothing appeared to happen.
"Mr Zalroth you liar..." Snow complained before the trio noticed Zalroth was sweating heavily.
"What's wrong, Zster?" Scarlett asked confusedly.
"It may appear that nothing happened but that just means you already possessed enough magical power to be able to handle the forced azure ability awakening," Lola smugly explained to the others. Scarlett excitedly exploded with joy and raced around the area before being stopped by Akari, who told Scarlett to behave and told her to go sit back down.
"So, Mr Zalroth what azure abilities do we have?" Star inquired. Zalroth defeatedly and deflatedly sighed as he placed the azure core in his tails.
"Do you want me to tell you all of them or just the unique ones...?" Zalroth grumbled. The girls unanimously asked for just the unique ones.
"Well, Star's is called Continuously Continuous, infinitely infinite, but just call it Multiplier for simplicity's sake. Snow's is called Purifying Fission while Scarlett's are Fusion and Karma Clouds," Zalroth explained. Scarlett excitedly stood up again and placed her hands on her cheeks.
"Wait I have two-" She managed to say before dark green/black dense opaque clouds shot out of the holes next to her knuckles and into her face. Scarlett remained motionless before abruptly falling forwards and almost face-planted into the ground, but was caught by one of Zalroth's tails.
"I feel kinda sleepy..." Scarlett managed to murmur before passing out. Zalroth sighed again knowing he was going to have to explain this whole situation to Akari and Ruby later.
