《Stardust Universe》Chapter 2.32 - White - A Peaceful Nihon
Advertisement
It has been 12 hours since our showdown against the 4th Champions of Chaos, Kitsuneki. I've had enough resting after that long showdown. Who would have known that Yumiko, of all people would be the one to finish off that Chaos Shogun? I was surprised when Yumiko revealed herself to be disguising as Ethereal after all this time. Then I wondered, was her clone really being serious about whatever happened that time?
I tried asking her about it but she only responds, "It's up to your imagination, White."
"Well that's not informative at all..."
She then replied, "Why should I tell you everything? That will only be disadvantageous for me."
"After all this time, I thought you turned a new leaf after being tricked by Kitsuneki."
"I've always been planning to trick him back, White. I just haven't had the opportunity. And I owe you one for that."
"You owe me? What did I do?"
"For making me realize that I'm not the only monster around here."
Then I retaliated by saying, "But...Isn't Blanc more of a real monster than us?"
Yumiko laughed and said, "True. But she is a monster disguised as a human. You on the other hand, are keeping a monster inside. My monster however, perhaps it's already gone after last night's ordeal. It's all thanks to you ravaging me in that draconic form."
"So basically...you just told me that you also experience whatever the heck your clone experienced?"
"It's up to your imagination." Yumiko shrugged and leave me behind as she continues to look around the place.
"Up to my imagination..." I grinned for a bit after that.
Of course she's trying very hard not to get sappy at me. That's just her being herself. Not a façade. That's Yumiko Ileana Pavlova. She's not just The Fallen Trinity. She now also calls herself as The Blue Moon. Not that I know of a reason about that aside from the scenery we saw last night. I guess I was kind of surprised to see her use that chain whip of hers to grab a spiritual version of the moon. That's how strong was her at that point. It's only a matter of time until she completes her chain whip. Until then, I have no idea what she's planning about the moon.
Putting that aside, today would be our last day here in Nihon before we will take off back to the port tomorrow morning and return to Infinity Academy. A lot of things had happened throughout the holiday. Most of it was not a good memory but at the very least, I had a great time.

"White!" Ethereal called me from afar.
I went to her and greeted her, "Hey, Ethereal. How are you?"
"I'm fine after that long rest. Who knew that they would end up restarting the Invitational? And the best part..."
"You won."
"Most certainly!" She showed me her medal that was hanging on her neck.
"So you didn't win the Mikazuki Blade or anything, right?"
She shakes her head and said, "Actually, I did get the blade. Apparently someone founded it last night. I don't know what happened but it happened."
I whispered to myself, "Yumiko..."
It didn't take me a long time to think what exactly happened after the fight against Kitsuneki. I guess Yumiko handed it back to the government after she...absorbed everything that the blade has. Now The Mikazuki Blade is just like any other blade. I guess that's for the best.
"I guess today would be the last day you guys are staying here, correct?" asked Ethereal.
I nodded to her as I continued to look around the shopping district that we were in.
"I'm going to miss this place..."
"Me too..."
"You too? What do you mean, Ethereal?"
"This is my last assignment before I can have enough money to go on a different land. I did told you that I'm planning to go around the world, right?"
"Yeah, you told me about that the other day...with Zenith."
"You're right...Where is she anyway?"
I didn't really look at Ethereal as I was answering her question, "I don't know, maybe she's with Yumiko or something."
"Really? I'll look for her then." Then, just as she was about to leave me, she whispered to me, "You have my blessing, 'little brother'..."
I was flustered by her words and said, "Get lost already!"
She laughed and waved at me, "Well I'll be seeing you around."
I wasn't really being honest to Ethereal when we were talking about Zenith. Especially now that everything about her that she supposed to know was actually non-existent thanks to Yumiko's clone. But that's not the only reason why. There was more to it than that. It was just this morning when we had breakfast at our hotel.
-
We were having a fresh Nihon breakfast cuisine until I noticed that Zenith wasn't at the table with us.
"Have you guys seen, Zenith?"
Recordia then replied, "Recordia sums up her account on Zenith, Recordia was with Zenith this morning. Zenith says she needs some time to prepare for breakfast."

"But what's taking her so long then?"
"Recordia doesn't know. Recordia said that as she shakes her head."
"I'll go look for her..."
Yumiko suddenly interrupted me, "Don't do anything stupid up there."
"We don't have time for nonsense, Yumiko."
"But 'you' can stop time." She grinned at me.
I ignored her and went looking for Zenith at her room. I tried looking for her at her room but she wasn't there. I tried looking around the hotel until I stumble upon a familiar smell. No, it wasn't the smell of a snow or anything like that. It was the smell of gunpowder. After all this time being bothered by Yumiko, I would definitely be familiar with the smell of gunpowder at this point. But this smell wasn't the normal smell I usually got whenever Yumiko was around. It was very different. Now how was that possible? Beats me, but I followed the smell to wherever it was coming from. It finally leads me to the rooftop of the hotel. Zenith was standing all alone looking at the scenery of Nihon from the rooftop.
"Zenith, there you are."
She turned her back just as she heard me calling for her.
"I've been looking for you. You haven't eaten breakfast, right? Come on, let's go."
Then she suddenly asked me a weird question, "Who are you?"
I'm not sure if I said anything wrong but got close to her and told her, "Oh come on, Zen. We already did this scenario before. And it was way during that snowstorm..."
"No...Who are you? How do you know my name?"
It was at that moment where I noticed that something was definitely not right. I tried to reassess the situation...
"In any case, everyone is waiting for you downstairs...Just...go down and eat."
"Whatever..." She walked pass without even looking at me.
I know something was up. But I couldn't really tell what was happening.
-
I kept thinking about it even until we finally got into The Absolute Cruiser.
Unexpectedly, someone else come toward me as they noticed I was feeling a little bit down.
"Is something wrong, White?" An auburn haired girl talked to me.
"Lala?" Apparently it was my Cardinal, Lala Magnetite.
One of her eyes was covered by her hair bangs. She talked to me, "I heard from Lin about what happened..."
"...she told you everything?"
"I don't know...is becoming a chaotic draconic monster apart of that 'everything'?"
"She did tell you everything, huh." I sighed. "I should have asked her to keep it a secret."
"It's no longer a secret for you to hide, White. In any case, I heard about Zenith..."
"She told you that as well..."
"I'm not anyone to be judging about your relationship but it looks like she's not the same as we used to know her, right?"
I quickly glanced at her as I heard she said that. I asked her, "What do you mean, Lala?"
"Let's cut to the chase. She was cursed by a Phoenix before she even met you right? But then the other night, the bird was extracted out of her."
"Yes. And where are we going with this?"
Lala wondered, "I'm just theorising but her memories when she was cursed by the phoenix has been erased from her. The only thing she knows now is that she grew up and now she's in Infinity Academy. A reset...I think."
"That might the case...but that's not explaining how she's not panicking about this. She was still a child when it happened. How can she be so calm about it?"
"That maybe because the thing inside of her was keeping an eye of her as well."
"Inside of her...you mean whatever she had when she ate an Infinitum Crystal..."
"Precisely. Her infinitum energy was quite different than the last time I felt. Have you checked it yet?"
"No I have not. Is it really different than her snow ability?"
Lala shakes her head and said, "It's very different, White."
"How do you know all of this?"
"Let's say..." She brushes her bangs to reveal her covered eye and continued, "you two aren't the only who has a dragon inside of them..." Her previously covered eye transformed into the familiar draconic eye that I've known.
This is no longer a secret, huh? I guess we're not alone then...There are probably more of them somewhere and it might as well be right under our nose. It's only a matter of time...and space before we see the others. Let us see where the future will take us.

Embrace the Blade
Born crippled, it was no surprise when James Ransom died young, but he was offered an opportunity - a mission: to go to a new world and become strong enough to kill the hidden boss behind the final boss. Now in a new world he must research and study the system to take advantage of it, find his strengths; form alliances and find party members to become strong enough to face the end. This story does use Multiple perspectives and tells stories that add to the MC's. I've been given this feedback enough that I feel the need to mention that growth (levels, skills, classes, etc.) is slow, intentionally so, but constant. Credit for the cover goes to a commission for KemptBones from DeviantArt for the cover. This book is a rewrite of the original Embrace the Blade. The timeline for this one is completely separate and you do not need to read the original to understand what is going on. If you want to check out the original you can find it here (just a warning that they are NOT good): ETB Drafts 1&2 If you came here from the original EtB, WELCOME!!

Author's Note. This is book 7! Please feel free to hop on and enjoy! If you find you like my writing style, I hope you'll check out the first 6 books, all available to read on Kindle Unlimited, link below!) Alex was dying, and all the millions his father had left him meant nothing. The life he had been so eager to embrace, to do the memory of his father proud, would soon come to an end. Cancer. That ugly, terrible word. He had tried to be strong for his mother, even when the treatments left him violently ill, his body wracked with pain, his friends and even his girlfriend leaving him almost as fast as his once impressive physique wasted to nothing under the ravages of his illness. And just when he thought all hope was dead, a couple discrete referals placed by high-powered friends of his family got him an exclusive spot at the most sophisticated cryonic facility in the world. He didn't know if there was such a thing as an afterlife, but part of the package included uploading a copy of his cortex into a digital universe filled countless worlds to explore, where he could embrace whatever class or profession he could dream of. All of which sounded hell of a lot better than the miserable death waiting for him in the real world. In the end, he signed the paperwork, putting his pathetic flickering life in the hands of potential quacks and charlatans. After all, with death just days away, what did he have to lose? Even if he could never be successfully revived, he could at least adventure his heart out. (Authors Note: Books 1-6 are now live on Amazon and here is a link if you wanted to check it out! And I will continue to post chapters to Book 6 here first, until that tale is told! I hope you enjoy! And if you wanted to help support my work by checking out book 1 on Amazon, I would be extremely grateful!)
8 115Luck And Chronomancy
Time Magic is the best magic as everyone knows, although there are lots of unique Talents in the world. Most people only remember Haste because it is hard to get to higher Phases of Chronomancy. That is still enough to make the Talent iconic. A lucky enough Aleatory Talent can position you for greatness or leave you languishing in obscurity. The only true equality in the world is when that glowing message pops up at 8 years old. Even if it doesn't activate until you are an adult at 16 you still know. Sure you can find a new dungeon spawn and get another chance at a rare Talent, even this one, but you have to already be ready to delve into the *Far Wilds*, which is far easier with wealth or family power. This is the story of where my good fortune took me and the difference it made, even among a party of 7 others including an Arcanist. It is a journey of magic and monsters but also math, which some think is actually worse. Luckily I was born with Intelligence and Focus as my personal traits, and my parents were scholars. Of course Chronomancy can also be a frontline combat talent. Versitility well beyond other Elder Talents like Gravity, Abstraction, or Arcana. Might could have worked for me, too. I also met a runaway princess. All the best adventures have a princess. She hated being a noble and we didn't get married but it still counts. Besides she really filled out our front line. All that Leadership training came in handy. I still don't know where she's from. Who cares? How well Haste goes with giant hammers is what's important. I never learned much about anyone in the party, except the one I grew up with. I'm not a people person. I just wanted to optimize dungeon clearing time. *******Story Details******* No romance, politics, or traumatizing content, slice of life, or even dialogue. 1st person narration, like a guide/adventure log. 2000-7000 words a day, maybe 40-60% rpgish combat log with some reasoning on combat decisions, with the rest character Talent discussion and progression stuff. 8 person party with a decent variety in roles. Party members usually have 2 primary functions. Told from the support/control Chronomancer's perspective. Each party member will have 6 Basic/Background Traits, then 3 actual Talents with abilities. Capstone from their Educational Institution, Arbritrary as a gift from the temples, and Aleatory which is decided at birth, revealed at 8, and activated after adulthood at 16. Aleatory Traits ignore requirements and are random why is why they are so important. They'll gain new Talents from finding Dungeons to consume in the *Wilds*. Mature dungeons in cities can provide *Challenges* to raise the Phase of a Talent, up to 3 times from 1 to 4. Each character will get to roughly 8 non-Trait Talents. Attributes come exclusive from Talents, are required by Talents, and provide various effects as well. I designed about 220 Talents with abilities, 4 in each of 4 phases. "Traits" are just Attribute stuff. I'm not sure how many will be detailed in the story, more than 100 for sure. I used Talents because I want to be free of the legacy of tabletop. Half those rules are just because of the limitations inherent in a pre-computer ttrpg. This story mostly uses combat Talents, although like 1/3 of the 220 are for crafting and other society and economy stuff. If you really wanted to be a Thief you might take Intuition, Awarness, and Might for Basic Traits and Deftness, Manipulation, and Trickery for Family/Education. Then you'd pick Acrobatics, and Climbing for Educational Capstone and Arbitrary traits. You Aleatory Trait might be Shadow(Light/Dark) Magic, Umbramancy. A Bard might swap Dexterity for Charisma, Music for Acrobatics, and have gotten Illusion(Shadow/Sound(Air/Force)) for their Aleatory Trait.

" Across country? With you?" " admit it, you want to." -- Carter Grace didn't like her neighbor. She didn't like his love for old rock music, beanies, and worn black combat boots. She didn't like the way he'd smile a smile where the right corner of his mouth would tilt up just slightly more than the left. She especially didn't like it when he called her Angel. Nicholas Arson has a passion for the simple way of things, old rock, batman, and his worn combat boots. He loves to drown out the world with his music. He especially loves playing the piano, guitar, or any instrument he could get his hands on. He also finds joy in bothering his next door neighbor, Carter Grace. And when Nicholas learn that Carter's grandmother is all the way across the country, and that his Angel was going all the way to her to bring her home, he couldn't help but bud in. -- " I'll drive you the whole way there, and pay for gas."
