Janine stretched and let out a long yawn. She smiled, and looked across at the handsome man next to her. His blubbery face rippled angelically as he snored, and his warts really added some personality to an otherwise classical Crawkling profile.
She was woken out of her dreamlike state when the world around her started to flash red.
“Melvin! Melvin!” she shouted, shaking her husband gently.
“Blarrgshhur,” he replied. “I’m asshleep.”
“Melvin!” she shouted, slapping him vigorously across the face.
He sat up with a start and looked around.
“We’re crashing! Why didn’t you wake me sooner?”
“I was asleep too,” Janine answered.
They both jumped up, and looked at the panorama in front of them. They were faced with a brown and dusty planet, harsh looking in climate. It was a far cry from the bogs and wetlands of their Crawkling home. It was also about a kilometre away from them.
“To the escape pod, quickly!” yelled Melvin.
They ran as quickly as their blubbery frame allowed, Melvin much faster than his wife. His elbowing technique was much better and he had established an early lead when she fell to the floor.
“Come on! We’re not going to make it!” he cried as he stood in the pod, waiting for her to catch up.
“I’m coming! I’m coming!” she gasped between breaths.
Melvin looked through the glass shield of the escape pod, there was only seconds between their ship smashing into the ground. Janine couldn’t run fast enough to get there, she was going to crash and burn with the ship. He had a big decision to make and literally seconds to do so. Melvin was an emotional and loyal man and he couldn’t ditch anyone who had always relied on him. Janine was the love of his life.

Melvin pressed the button in his escape pod and was fired high into the sky. He was the Grand Zombie Master, and he couldn’t let down his race.
As his wife and ship disintegrated into tiny pieces, the Grand Zombie Master shed a brief tear before hysterical laughter took over. Janine would have thought that the funniest death ever.
