excuse mistakes
six days days later...
Solana chewed on her bottom lip consistently, butterflies swarming through her whole body. Today was the day that would dictate if Solai would be able to attend her birthday party. The doctor was about to weigh Solai to see if she gained any weight.
Solai whined, climbing into Solana's lap to finish her nap. It was the middle of the day, and the nurse had just came to wake her up for the weighing.
"You're nervous, huh?" Ms. Georgia chuckled, seeing the worried look plastered all over Solana's face.
"Yes. I packed her a bag of clothes in hopes that she would be discharged later on today." Solana pouted. "She's been eating all of the food that I've been bringing her plus more, she should've gained something, right?"
"Fingers crossed." Ms. Georgia nodded.
A knock appeared on the door, making Solai's grip tighten around Solana's neck. The doctor smiled, entering the room with a nurse and Solai's chart. "Who's ready to be weighed?"
"God please let these scale numbers be in our favor." Solana mumbled, holding her head to the sky. She had been praying every chance she got to let things work out in her and Solai's favor, so she just hoped that today was the day for good news.
"So we'll take her weight and if she's gained at least five pounds then she can be discharged. However, I will need her to see her every week for a weight update." The doctor nodded. "So, let's get her on the scale."
Solana nodded, standing to her feet. She slowly trudged over to the scale and height equipment that was located in the corner of the room. "Alright baby. I'm about to put you down." Solana whispered into Solai's ear.
Solai shook her head, tightening her legs around Solana's torso. Solana crouched down to the floor, so that Solai was now standing in front of her. "Mr. Bear told me to tell you a secret." Solana said, pointing back at the human-sized bear.
"Look at me." Solana smiled, showing her how the weighing process would go. She stepped on the scale, and stood still until the numbers popped up on the screen. "See, Mr. Bear said do this like me."
All of the adults in the room just watched how Solana interacted with Solai. It was such a warm moment everytime Solana could get Solai to do something. "She's amazing, isn't she?" Ms. Georgia, whispered to the doctor.
Solai pointed to the scale, holding her hand out for Solana to grab. Solana happily did so, helping her onto the scale. Solai could walk, but she wasn't used to it. She was used to being held by Solana or stationed in one spot when she lived with her parents. When she did walk, she walked on her tippy toes, another small concern for the doctor.
"Okay, let's get that weight." The doctor smiled, once Solai was still. Solana swallowed the lump in her throat, hesistant to look up at the screen for the results.
Once the numbers did pop up on the screen, everyone just stayed silent waiting for Solana to take a look herself. When she noticed the silence, she bit down on her lip and looked at the numbers. Her eyes almost popped out of her head, as a huge smile grazed her face. "She gained seven pounds."
"Looks like you're taking your baby girl home." The doctor smiled, writing down Solai's updated weight. She wasn't sure if it was the hearty meals that Solana made, or if Solai's weight just magically increased. However, he was happy for Solai and Solana.

Solana scooped Solai up in her arms, hugging her, as tears slid down her face. "I'm so proud of you. I knew you could do it." She sniffled.
"I'll let my nurse check all of her vitals, including her temperature to make sure she's all cleared. When everything checks out, we'll start her discharge." The doctor told Ms. Georgia. Gaining a nod from the social worker, he left the little family to indulge in their excitement.
"Looks like babygirl is going home with her new mommy tonight." Ms. Georgia smiled. "How are you feeling?" She asked Solana.
Solana laughed through her tears. "So excited. I'm so proud of her. I knew she could do it." She chuckled, wiping at her tears. To say that she was overjoyed would be an understatement. She was so excited to bring Solai home with her.
"We're going to do her hair all cute. She's going to eat a great dinner, and then we'll end the night with a warm oatmeal and coconut bath." Solana smiled, rubbing her hands through Solai's hair.
"Yeah her eczema isn't as bad, but the oatmeal baths will really help with her dry skin and flare-ups." The nurse chimed in, ready to take Solai's final vitals.
Solai had a mild case of eczema on her back, so Solana spent time doing research on the most effective ways to soothe irritated skin. She found that oatmeal baths really helped ease the irritation of dry skin.
"Should I use a certain type of lotion on her as well?" Solana asked, holding Solai still as the nurse checked inside of Solai's ears.
"I highly recommend coconut oil and Aveeno's eczema therapy products. It works wonders on my kids. I usually put some raw oats in a hair net or even a stocking cap and just let it soak in the water before putting her in. Then add a little bit of the Aveeno's baby bath treatment. Wash her in those ingredients and as soon as you get her out rub her down in coconut oil and the Aveeno's eczema therapy lotion." The nurse explained.
"Okay. Should I also use a certain type of laundry detergent as well? I use Tidy and Downy now." Solana questioned, turning Solai around to get her temperature taken.
"I use baby detergent like Dreft. It's gentle and fresh." The nurse shrugged. "Also be extra careful with her sheets as well. I use satin sheets and pillow cases for my girls." She added.
"Yes ma'am. I bought satin bedding and hair bonnets for her." Solana nodded, feeling very confident at the moment.
"Okay good." The nurse replied. "Her vitals look fine, her temperature is a solid ninety-six and her oxygen levels are in range. She should be good to go."
"Thank you so much ma'am. Not just for today, but for all of the days that she's been in here. I really appreciate you guys." Solana thanked the nurse. She was very grateful for Solai's entire team of nurses and doctors.

Heaven smiled, standing in front of Solana's door watching her pull into her parking spot. She and along with the rest of the family were patiently waiting for her and Solai's arrival.
Once Solana put the car into park, Heaven wasted no time walking over to the vehicle. "Oh my god she's such a cutie." She pouted, crossing her arms over her chest. "I want another one."
Solana chuckled, opening the backdoor to where Solai was. "She literally just fell asleep before I turned into the neighborhood." She said, unbuckling Solai from the car seat.

"I'll get you guys bags and everything. You think she'll be excited to see the kids?" Heaven replied, grabbing the bags that Solana and Solai had stashed in the backseat with their clothes.
"Honestly I don't know. I really hope that she does warm up to them. The party is tomorrow, and it'll be really nice to see her enjoy herself. However, she's new to everything around her so I know it'll take some time." Solana nodded, adjusting Solai in her arms.
"You're right about that." Heaven nodded. They both walked to Solana's door, Heaven pushing it open for the both of them.
As soon as Solana walked in all of the kids came running to her trying to see Solai. Solai felt and heard all of the commotion and her first reaction was to grip Solana's neck as tight as she could.
"Okay guys just one moment. Remember what we talked about? We can't crowd her just yet, she's still a little shy." Jayda reminded all of the kids. Jayda and Heaven had a talk with their kids, informing them that Solai was a little different from most kids. The kids all agreed that they wouldn't crowd the little girl, but it was clear that their excitement easily took over.
"Nanny can I hug her?" Zuri smiled, jumping up and down. Out of all of the kids, she was the most excited.
"No me first, nanny can I show her how to play with my football?" Zaloni asked, shoving his football in Solana's face.
"But nanny, I wanna show her how to—Can yall let them get in the door got damn?! It's always our bad ass kids." Zylin frowned, cutting off Zuri's next sentence.
"She not a celebrity anyway." Daloni mugged. "I don't know why they so excited."
"You're just mad because we never show you this much excitement." Angel chuckled. "Jealous much?"
"Ugly much?" Daloni retorted, bucking at his older cousin.
"She's a little shy, so you guys have to give us just a little space." Solana chuckled. The kids all made a walkway for Solana to sit down on the couch, so that they could get a better view at Solai.
"Look Lai. Your cousins are so excited to see you." Solana whispered, rubbing Solai's back. Solai shook her head, burying her head as deep as she could in Solana's chest.
"Wanna play barbies?" Zuri asked.
"How about this? Everyone take a seat on the couch or floor and then we'll let Solana turn Solai towards us." Heaven suggested. She could see that Solana and Solai were both getting overwhelmed, and figured it was time to step in.
"Can I go in the room to watch YouTube?" Nevaeh asked. She was still upset about the idea of sharing Solana, so she wasn't really happy to see Solai.
Solana heard Nevaeh's question, and chewed on her bottom lip. "I wanted you to be one of the first people that she met." She stated, getting the attention of everyone.
"Be foreal with yourself. I can care less about what's going on right now." Nevaeh scoffed, making Zylin and Heaven snap their necks in her direction.
"Bring your ass in here." Zylin mugged, standing to his feet. He could get why Nevaeh was upset, but she was taking it to another level of disrespect. Something that he didn't put up with.
Nevaeh smacked her lips, following Zylin into Solana's room. Once they were out of sight, all you could hear was Zylin yelling at Nevaeh, curse words included.
"I guess she hates me." Solana mumbled, feeling the tears brim her eyes. She couldn't lie and say that what Nevaeh had just said didn't hurt her feelings, because it did.
"Remember what we talked about." Jayda reassured Solana. "Let's just focus on baby girl." She added, nodding her head towards Solai.
Solana sniffled, nodding her head. She finally readjusted Solai in her arms, so that she was now facing the rest of the family. "Everyone meet Solai. She's my foster daughter." She stated.
"Oh my gosh, she's the cutest thing ever. Look at those cheeks." Jayda pouted.
"Is that my girlfriend?" KJ asked Cane, pointing at Solai.
"No badass, that's your new cousin." Cane chuckled.
"Aye Solai, you want to learn how to play football like me?" Zaloni asked, throwing the football in the air just to catch it.
"No, she wants to be a princess like me. Right Lai Lai?" Zuri smiled.
Solai whined, wanting to go back to sleep. She was overwhelmed with all of the new faces, and she could barely understand what anyone was saying.
Daloni mugged Solai. "Don't start all that whining, we deal with that enough with Zuri." Zaloni burst out laughing, pointing at Zuri's facial expression.
"Leave her alone before I make all three of y'all stand in one T-shirt." Heaven chuckled. "Y'all stay on my baby neck, she not a crybaby. Tell them you're just emotional."
"I'm just emotional." Zuri mumbled.
Solai squirmed to be put down, making Solana furry her eyebrows. Everyone watched as Solai, stumbled over to her giant human-sized teddy bear that was sitting by the front door. She laid the bear down, and laid on top of it closing her eyes.
"She said forget y'all, I want my teddy bear." Jayda laughed. "Period baby Lai."
"Well should I let her sleep? She hasn't ate dinner yet and I still have to give her a bath." Solana asked Heaven and Jayda.
"Well the food is ready, so I would say feed her right quick." Heaven shrugged. "Let her go to sleep on a full stomach."
"Yeah and then you can give her a bath, she'll be out like a light as soon as she hit the covers." Jayda added on. "Because her cousin KJ is about to follow right behind her."
"But I'm a big boy. I'm five." KJ frowned, crossing his arms over his chest. He was always jealous of the fact that he had to go to sleep earlier than Angel and his cousins.
"Yeah you're my big boy, but it's almost your bed-time." Jayda winked. "As soon as we're done eating we're going home so that you can go right to sleep."
Everyone laughed at KJ's tantrum, before going back to whatever they were doing before Solana and Solai arrived. Meanwhile, Solana went to carefully pick Solai from off of the floor to feed her.
Heaven had cooked Honey-Glazed Salmon, roasted red potatoes, and sautéed asparagus. She was a commited Pescatarian eater and so was her family. The only person who ate red meat was Cane. He could never get rid of his burgers and steaks.
When Solana walked into her kitchen with Solai, she grinned at all of the food. "Look baby, we about to eat so good tonight." She said, going to the sink to wash her hands.
Solai nodded her head mouthing the words "Eat, Eat." Of course no sound came out, but it was still major progress for her.

Tales of the 33rd universe - A Mech Designer story
Meet Marcus Caelum, since young he wanted nothing else to play with mechs. He studied, worked hard and he finally did it, now he is a Mech Designer (provisional). He achieved his dream and now is the time for realization, he now will learn that not all is great, that there are things to learn and that if he wants to do the job well he better adapt. Cover taken from a Battletech manual. This is my "first" novel so do forgive the quality a bit.It is mostly a Slice of life following what I believe a Mech Designer life would be. It will have action, science, comedy, dark moments and some adventure. It will barely have any romance and little actual combat (he won't go off fighting enemies everywhere, the MC is not a fighter). It's medium sci-fi, most hard science with some mana altering normal materials. The pacing is a bit slow, it takes some time for the story to advance. The first arc is completed and the novel is until further notice on HIATUS.I may continue the Tales of the 47th Universe to try my hand at another style and pacing. More info in chapter 22.
