《Small Galaxy》Small Galaxy: Chapter 25 Panic

As Catherine celebrated her promotion to the lofty position of 'Fluff Councilor' she ran over to hug and pet Azariah, nearly tackling the fluffy dog-lady to the ground. That was precisely the moment that a frantic Vrillex stormed into the council chambers. The golden double doors slammed open to reveal the frantic pilot and his crew alongside a few guards. Vrillex had opened the door alongside his crew expecting howling Council peoples, each blaming the other for the current problem. What he saw, was two of the most evil and dangerous-looking beings to ever exist. They seemed Terran, yet not Terran at the same time. Then he saw the woman next to them. She seemed so tiny with those gigantic beings as a backdrop. Then, he realized that he had seen her before. Her evil smile as she held a Councilor hostage. "YOU!!!! You followed me here? You intend upon destroying this world? I will stand and fight before I allow such a thing!" he said, reaching for his holstered sidearm. All of his crew followed suit, ready to fight to the death, they drew their guns. Their bodies froze as soon as they drew their weapons and they felt a deathly chill run down their spines. Basillius' body flashed with pale-green energy as the weapons the crew had been wielding suddenly flew to his side and collected into a ball of steel and plastic. He glanced at the weapons and let a tendril of green fire touch the orb of collected weapons, vaporizing them. The atteni could do nothing but stare as their frozen bodies wouldn't even allow them to breathe. Basillius sighed and stood to his full 17-foot height, striding over to the Atteni. His every step shook the room. Once he reached them he casually crouched over Vrillex and stared down at the tiny Atteni. "Don't point a gun at my Catherine again. Next time someone worse than me will be protecting her." With that said he snapped his fingers and released the group from his hold. Vrillex and his crew drew a gasping breath as their lungs got the air they so desperately needed, all of his crew aside from himself, Zrin, and their gunnery officer Kel had passed out from oxygen deprivation or fear. Vrillex gathered himself and then realized that a 17-foot-tall magic titan was inches away from him. Now that they could breathe and they had gotten the message, Basillius questioned him. "Why are you out here losing your mind and trying to kill us? I expect a reasonable answer." Vrillex blinked as it dawned on him. He looked around the room at the council members and they were all staring at him with a look that contained a mixture of fear and accusation. He could almost see contempt in some, the Askari and Mogura had begun praying and crying. Vrillex looked back to Basillius. "I... I had come to save the council...? The Terrans are invading...?" he said as he looked to the council for the answer to that question. Most of the council buried their faces into their respective appendages. Azariah had just started shaking her head no. Vrillex slowly looked back up to Basillius and said one word, as cold sweat covered his back, "Ooops..." Realization dawned on Basillius, he sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose turning to the Councilor's and looking at them with disappointment. "You really... you didn't even tell your people that we were going to be moving a fleet that out masses your planet right next to them. I literally can't even." He turned back to Vrillex with an exasperated expression, "What's the situation outside?" His question fell on deaf ears as Vrillex was basically frozen in fear. "It's not like I'm going to eat you, so quit shitting yourself and answer me." Vrillex took a deep breath and steadied himself, and a calm washed over his features before he looked up at Basillius with a determined light in his eyes. "The situation outside is grave. People have gone wild with panic. Your ships appeared out of nowhere and then started shooting lightning and making that roaring noise. The flight here was hectic, the people probably think that it's the Razeri coming back with some new super weapon". A swarm of nanites immediately filled Basillius' hand as a camera formed and he tossed it to Catherine. "Get ready to record. I connected it to their internet and through it every connected display. Hopefully, it will reach them all." Azariah cleared her throat. "Emperor Basillius? What do you plan on doing? We need to tell our people that it will be ok..." she said sheepishly. He stepped over towards her and directed the rest of the Council to come up as well. "You will be telling them. But I haven't scanned the equivalent of a camera within this building. So unless you can also speak telepathically then I need to do what I'm doing." The GalCon (Galactic Connection) that Basillius had tapped into was connected to every single device in the Galactic compact as a whole, not just the local world. The rest of the galactic community at large also had at least one point in which they were connected to the GalCon of the Compact. That meant that Basillius had just started broadcasting to the whole galactic community in this section of the galaxy. Entire civilizations had stopped moving as their worlds of technological advancements began portraying a titanic beast made of rage and spite over everything that had any sort of audio or visual capabilities. His raspy metallic voice made the people tremble, his appearance was that of all things evil, and his mannerisms screamed lethality. The galaxy listened intently and watched closely to this recording. Tarma stood and saluted the camera. "Brave people of the Compact. I am Tarma Killa'Vitch. Currently, I am the High Council representative of the Armanas. I ventured forth into the galaxy to find these new faces you see here. They are called Terrans and they are a people to emulate. They have been protecting this galaxy from a maddened god who rages against them as it has for centuries... Now, this god pledged to burn our worlds. Thus, Emperor Basillius of the Terrans has come to offer us technology and military support. I personally have seen the benefit of their technologies, as you can see, the Atteni, So'Ran has completely reversed in age. You can just look up to see the might of their military. Now, I ask that you treat these people with dignity and respect, they have much to offer us and have done so with no stipulation." The rest of the council clapped and nodded and Basillius sighed before straightening up and making himself more presentable. "My name is Basillius. I come to you now in peace and friendship. I wish it had been under better circumstances, but this was a bit of an emergency. As Tarma stated, I am only here to protect you from the god of time." He paused and took a somber tone. "Our entrance into your space was unfortunately unannounced, and as such, we scared you. You have my sincerest apologies for the miscommunication. I will not hold anyone accountable for any accidental actions against my people, and I will personally reimburse those who have lost their livelihood in the panic which ensued upon the arrival of my fleet. If anyone has lost their life due to my incompetence, then with permission from the next of kin, we will reverse the damage to your lost family members and bring them back into the mortal fold."

Blood Demon's Retirement
Civil War had raged on the Al-Shan Archipelago for the past four decades, only recently coming to an end with the enthronement of the new Emperor. This is not his story. The Blood Demon, renowned general of said civil war, was tired of all the fighting and politicking that had described the last four decades of her existence. All she really wanted to do now is to go out into the world and see the many lands from her father's stories. Thus she retired, and went and did exactly what she wanted. This is the story of what happens when you toss a (retired) war machine with somewhat lacking common sense into an unsuspecting world at peace. Chapters will range from 1-2.5k words, scheduled for release every day from Monday to Friday. First time posting a story on Royal Road here, hoping you folks will enjoy. Expect: -slow going slice of life with occassional faster paced action -world building -detailed anecdotes on the world, its races, the magic system, and whatnot every now and then Do not expect: -romance, other than maybe some passing mentions -politics, again, barring passing mentions Any comments, reviews, and criticism will be much appreciated. And thank you for reading. ---------------------------- Disclaimer: This story is my original work and only posted on the Royal Road and Scribblehub websites. Sustaining the King's Life
On a secluded mountain situated upon a kingdom known as Feuersturm, resides a seemingly trifling cabin with an unlikely duo as its inhabitant—a witch, and her apprentice who presumably comes from a clan sought after by slave traders. Faustina is a sixteen-year-old girl who fled the slave market with the help of a sickly witch named Eula, who later on trained her as an apprentice for the span of seven years. Plagued with a mysterious disease for several years, Eula died despite the efforts Faustina had exerted to cure her; in her last breath, she left an odd request behind. "Sustain the king's life. This is your duty. Do not adhere to the prophecy." To which the odd plea shadowed a bizarre series of events, a consequential sentence, similar to that of a premonition. The same night the phrase was muttered, the chain of events followed: A warlock's intrusion to their home, with a peculiar yearning to resurrect Eula from the dead... and the king himself, asking for Faustina’s aid. ** 1-2 chapters a day (GMT+8) ** (The artwork belongs to me.
