《Potestera- Race for Power》Ch 102 Final Inner Breath Technique, Charity Box

Eventually Yupow gave me instruction on the final ability he wanted me to learn before I left.
It was the ability to control strands of inner energy outside of myself.
It was the highest level of inner energy control there was, and required insane amounts of practice and concentration.
His technique was called “Consequential Inner Strand” and it was the foundational technique for any technique involving control of inner energy outside the body.
The objective was to manipulate the already existent inner energy outside the atmosphere with breath and body movement .
It was an unorthodox approach to this type of technique, but it was one that had paid dividends for him.
The benefit of his technique method was that it connected you with the inner energy in the outside environment.
The more sensitive one became to it the more it became more like part of your body.
And so the domain of your body increased by that much more.
All the techniques he had taught me before helped me in facilitating the process of learning the technique.
Eventually I found some results and found myself capable of attracting and manipulating a few strands here or there.
But Yupow was satisfied, he said with time, control of the strands would multiply exponentially, until my control of inner energy was unrivaled.
***
Towards the end of my time in the City, I started making trips outside the City wall to practice my newly learned inner energy technique.
It was the type of technique I was most excited to use, as that type of ability was the kind of power one could only dream of as a kid.
I would choose a few of the best hills or fields with the best views and would practice for hours on end.
The better I got at inner energy strand control the more addicted to the technique I became.

It was like breathing in and surrounding myself with the coolest and most refreshing incense in the world.
I wanted to hurry and get a decent mastery of the technique, but I was well aware that that wouldn’t happen until much time from now.
Eventually I got in the rhythm of going outside the City whenever I could, but little did I know that such an action would only put me at the edge of the lion's mouth.

The old city guard stood next to his higher up, another city official of a higher standing.
In fact he was the head administrator of the City's “Infrastructure and Development Department”.
But right now he was standing in front of a dinky wooden box propped up on a pole stand with a few white booklets strewn about within.
The box had a sign that read “Free Martial Manuals”.
From the looks of it a couple of people had taken up the offer of the box and taken some of the booklet manuals.
The Head Administrators name was Kemoi and he was deeply intrigued by the box.
“So you’re telling me that you saw Guso go up to this part of the street, and just randomly start building this box stand, and that he filled it with a bunch of books.”
“Yes sir, I personally witnessed him doing so, we just didn’t intervene because of the orders of the Mayor to not bother Yupow or his Disciple, and to prevent other people from doing so as well. As soon as he was done building the box some people immediately went up to the box and took some of the manuals, a couple even seemed to be furious at the contents of the book. I myself went up and inspected the contents of the book it seems to be the martial methodology of his original master Kemoro’s if i'm not mistaken. I didn’t know what to make of this so I decided to contact City headquarters.”

“You've done good Donel, what will come about from this action is yet to be seen but I dont think it’ll be anything good. Kemoro’s method is much too hated in Martial Citadel specially by a specific number of individuals. But the Popularity of Guso, and his contributions to the City, might make it so that his master's method might actually take roots within City grounds and have a presence. There are some Institutions in this Citadel that would not accept that no matter what. I will relay this information to Lofen as soon as possible.”
“Sir, what to we do about the box?”
Kemoi looked at the box and conteplated for a moment before he turned around and headed straight towards the Mayor’s Office.
“Leave it be, the deed is done, besides i’m sure the Mayor’s orders applies to anything belonging to Guso as well, we'll just turn a blind eye to its existence, most of the books have already been taken anyways.”
Kemoi looked at the booklet and decided to give it a read once he got home.
He wasn’t no genius martial artist himself, but per the requirement of the City laws, he as a functional City Official had to be qualified as a decent Martial Artist at the very least.
Kemoi came from a mid tier Martial Clan that practiced a variety of Martial Arts so his interest in the manual was piqued.
Besides, if it helped Guso who was a legitimate Ranker, why couldn’t it help him or his Clansmen?
Kemoi gave his final instructions to Donel and departed.
But as soon as Kemoi left, Donel took out his copy of the manual and continued to read it; he was deeply intrigued by the philosophies within it.
Never before did he feel so enlightened from just reading a martial manual.
He was starting to question why a master like Kemoro was ever kicked out.
Soon more people of the Citadel noticed the box and the rest of the manual’s disappeared.
Eventually other people found Guso’s other box full of free leather pelts.
Many people were confused, but others didn’t question it and just grabbed them.
Lower level City Officials were unsure what to do about the boxes, but since they were Guso’s they just left them alone.
Weirdly enough, more free stuff boxes started to appear throughout the City.
But these didn’t belong to Guso.
They just mysteriously popped out from nowhere.
At first City workers took them down, but as more free stuff boxes popped out, eventually the Mayor gave an order to leave them be.
Spontaneously a new cultural quirk had developed in the City, the culture to build a box in the street and give out free items.
Many of the low status in the City were ecstatic with the new tradition.
If ever anyone ever needed anything, you were sure to find something of use within one of the boxes.
It didn’t seem like anything serious, but the advent of the new tradition signified the evolving mindset within the citizens' minds.
They no longer were angry, grumpy, uncaring, covetous, and stingy with anything of value they possessed.
The City was in a time of prosperity and it showed.
One day even the Mayor himself built a box out in front of his office building, and stuffed it full of Focus Shards, needless to say the items within the box didn’t last long.

The Chronicles of Artharian Dagworth
Back in 2020 there were many theories on how the world would end. From the many religions apocalypses, nuclear wars that would leave the planet inhabitable, global warming doing the same, biological weapons getting out of control, viruses mutating into unstoppable diseases to the dead raising to prey on humanity, either due to a virus or just because hell filled up. Also, aliens, from the war mongering kind to the ones so advanced they didn’t see us as more than worms. And of course there was the fail proof theory that the world would end when the sun died. In a bunch of billion years give or take. Althougth some new scientist were discussing if the end would be on the take side, since when the sun started dying things would go haywire on the entire solar system and we would collide with mercury or maybe mars way before the expanding sun engulfed earth. But I digress… Now, those were the mainstream theories that the everyday Joe, who didn’t know the big secret, worried about. So, if you were to ask me which theory was correct I can tell you that I haven’t seen any little green man, at least not from another planet, and so far the sun is still shining, although it’s been only 9 years since everything went to hell, not the few billions (give or take) the scientist predicted, so that one isn’t ruled out yet. These two aside, I'd say all of them. Hey everyone, this is my first attempt at writing. I have been planning to do it for a really long time, and while this is not the one epic fantasy idea I ever wanted to write, I think it's a good one. The plan is to write an end of the world urban-fantasy series. Think a world like Dresden Files, Alex Verus, Iron druid, where magic is real but exist hidden from society meets the apocalypse. It will be written in first person in the Dresden Files style, no plans for other POV for now. As you probally alredy guessed from my style, english is not my first langague, so while google corrector helps, expect grammar errors, and I'd be gratefull for anyone to point them. I plan to write 2 to 3 chapters a week, 2000-4000 words each. Might change as I get more experience and depends on my free time. Cover image from the colections of getwallpapers.com
