《Theirs》Chapter 46

After our... activities, I was now lying on my stomach and playing with Tharion's fingers. Draco was in the kitchen making us some lemonade.
"So, what happened between you two and that Niran guy?" I asked absentmindedly.
Tharion tensed up and looked to the side. I glanced at him and saw a pained expression on his face.
"What's wrong?" I asked worriedly and gently moved his head towards me. "You don't have to tell me if you don't want to." I quickly added, but he shook his head.
"Although our hordes aren't neighbors, we were really close in the past. We could easily pass as family because of how much time we spent with each other." He started as he unconsciously started playing with my hair.
"But a huge war broke out between Niran's horde and a human kingdom which was working with a big group of rogue dragons. It happened about a hundred and twenty years ago." Draco jumped in as he climbed the last step.
"A war? But what does that have to do with him hating you two?" I asked in confusion.
"Niran had a twin sister." Tharion started, but quickly stopped.
Pain was written all over his face and you could see he was trying hard not to start crying because his eyes were glistening with unshed tears.
"She sacrificed her life to protect us." Draco mumbled as he laid down and buried his head in my neck.
Tharion did the same and they stayed silent for a moment. I could see how much it pained them to talk about this.
I shouldn't have asked...
"All four of us were barely eighteen when it happened." Draco said with a sniffle.
"When we found out they were fighting, we immediately sent our soldiers to aid them. The two of us even went with them." Tharion said softly.

"And although we were victorious, we lost the most precious soul in the world." Draco mumbled and again buried his head in my neck.
"We weren't paying attention and two rogues jumped us from behind. But Alina stepped in and protected us despite being a lot smaller than us." Tharion chocked out.
Oh God...
"H-her wing was r-ripped off and-"
"That's enough. You don't have to tell me the rest. I understand." I interrupted him softly and pulled both of them in a tight hug.
They wrapped their arms around me tightly and silently weeped. I don't know how long we stayed like this, but at some point both of them fell asleep and I just started into nothing until sleep consumed me too.
Poor Niran...
...
I knocked on the door of their office and slowly opened it when I heard a 'Come in'.
"Katie~" Draco sang and got up.
"Don't get up please. I just wanted to tell you I'll be stepping our for a bit." I said, but he ignored me and came towards me anyways.
"Why?" Tharion asked as he also got up.
"A pastry shop opened across the company a few days ago and I've been dying to try their goods. I heard from other employees how good they are and I finally caved in." I answered with a wishful sigh.
All those baked goods will soon be in my mouth.
"It's that shop with pink and red decoration right?" Draco asked and I nodded excitedly.
"Just be careful when you cross the street. You know how it gets when lunch hour approaches." Tharion said with a soft smile and caressed my cheek.
"Aye, aye captains." I said and saluted them.
They both shook their heads with a chuckle and I blew them kisses before walking out.

"That was not a real kiss! Come back here and give us proper kisses!" Draco yelled from the office as I sprinted towards the elevator like a madman.
And once I stepped in, I smirked at their running forms as the door of the elevator slowly closed.
'You'll pay for this.' They gritted out through the mindlink.
'Mmhm~' I sang and closed the mindlink.
The elevator dinged and the door opened. I stepped out and headed towards the entrance of the company.
Since Lyla could give birth any day now because her due date was slowly approaching, Tharion and Draco forbid her from working for the time being. Of course, she tried to protested, but we managed to convince her that I'll be fine on my own. And so far it's been going great.
I slowly approached the busy street and stopped in front of the crosswalk.
"Um, excuse me." Someone said and tapped my shoulder.
I turned my head and saw an older woman smiling nervously at me.
"Yes?" I said and smiled politely.
"Sorry to bother you dear, but my husband and I found someone around that corner with the same name tag as yours. We saw you exiting the company and thought she might be your coworker. The poor girl doesn't look so good." The lady explained worriedly and pointed at the corner right next to us.
"Really? Please show me." I said worriedly and followed after her when she started walking.
We turned the corner and came to a dead end. I looked around in confusion.
"Where's the-"
"We're sorry about this Miss." Someone said from behind me and black dots started appearing in my vision within a second.
Shit. It was a trap.
