《Celestial Journey》174.2] - [Earth (2)]

Who could imagine doing such a thing? Who would dare to do so?
It was not a stranger. Nor even a father or mother. Not a sibling or a relative. It was his own self. But also his very beginning.
How could one do such a thing? Why?
Who does one trust the most? Who does one love the most? Who does one care for the most? Who does one hope for the most? Who does one think of the most?
Themselves.
Yet he killed such a being. Aware of the risks.
And sure enough, he could feel a more visible fluctuation of time trying to corrode him. This blue hue was like the maw of a dragon, desperately attempting to tear apart his flesh with its sharp fangs. But it could not, it tried to drag him away into some strange dimension. But even that did not work.
Alexander only stood there, curiously glancing at this ethereal power. Time itself began to shift. The river of incredible might was being damaged. It only took a few moments for it to repair itself, brand new.
A new fork of time had appeared.
Alexander too strong for it to influence him. Even True Time... even a paradox could not exist without his permission.
He killed the strange being and himself. He should have disappeared, which should have undone his doings, resetting the timeline, resetting everything and letting him climb back. Or maybe it would have simply taken his older self back a few hours of True Time?
Even so, it did not happen anyway.
And even if it did, his actions beyond this Multiverse would have troubled the river as well.
However, it could not matter.
Truth be told, he was actually feeling less shock when killing his past self than when he watched obese people strolling around. How long had it been since he did not see a chiseled human body? All he saw was perfection and beauty. But now, he was surrounded by imperfections, not that he minded.
Some were less graceful on the eyes, but he did enjoy imperfection in some people. There was a charm, some sort of realism from it. It looked more genuine in some ways.
'Oh! Almost forgot like last time!' Remembering the time in his early life when he found an almost perfect copy of Earth, Alexander had forgotten about it since it was not as memorable as Earth. This pained him greatly, since they did have a lot of similar songs! What he wanted was music!
'Thankfully I still remember the damn blueprints for this. Just in case I'll make multiple copies and ask an artifact refiner for a better one. In the meantime, I'll make one myself.'

Looking around, Alexander grabbed someone's phone from hundreds of meters away. Annoyed by the pin code, he simply waved his hand, causing it to unlock.
'Trash technology. You think you can stop my peering? Dream on!'
Going through the content of the phone, Alexander found music applications on it.
'Alright! Let's see here... I think, ha! I can actually remember my account!' Login off from the owner's account, he logged in with his own. But since he did so with his own email, he did not see his account's name...
'xXxDragonDarkInferno556xXx?? That can't be me... Did I put this as a joke perhaps? Has to be, right?' Almost puking at the name, he still carefully looked into his playlists.
Teleporting into the sky, he put a wind barrier around him, isolating all sounds from outside.
Playing one of his favorite songs, he remained silent.
'...'
It felt good.
It was amazing.
If only he had these songs when fighting others... even if it impaired his sense of audition, so what?
Without realizing, lost in his own bubble, Alexander shed a tear.
How long? The music of the Immortal world was boring or simply not to his taste. He only ever truly enjoyed Earth's. Maybe it was a bias from his past?
Even so.
'I'm taking them all, even the genres I don't care about. Most importantly, I will also go through time and get every single piece of music I can get! Be one from years ago to ones in the following years-'
'There's that too! So many things!'
His hidden self, crushed under his cultivator life, was starting to shine. It clawed back from a mound of corpses. Each a part of Alexander's past. A personality he killed.
His past was back, bringing him much joy.
Joy! He felt enjoyment!!
Eyes sparkling with a clear luster! Twinkling more beautifully than the stars at night! Granting wishes when falling stars could not!
'There is music...'
But there also was everything else! What his past loved! Something he could not replicate because no other world could match his taste! His Earthen taste!
His original culture!
'Video games... maybe they'll be a bit boring, but there are so many stories... so many comics! So many things! I can do everything now!'
"Hahaha! Life is shining to me! Alexander is back in business! Prepare yourselves! I'm reading, eating and playing every damn thing! Just like my Overlord life!"
A shame Aurora was not present. Such a shame she missed his current face.
Eyes nearly closed from the glee. A smile full of teeth radiating purity. Pale skin reflecting the gorgeous sunlight. Surrounded by the blue sky, the white clouds drifting underneath.

What a sight she could not see.
'Where do I... music, yes. I'll start there!'
Carefully examining memories of so many people, Alexander would soon find the servers for each applications and studios. He would then spent a few months building a storage system inside of him. Memory jades, recording jades, crystals, anything he could find. Making copies after copies after copies of everything. Going through time itself, back and forth, until the end of modern civilization.
After which, he began to make a cube. Its origin was very barebone, just a metallic frame.
'...'
'I can't really make a proper one here. I don't want the materials to mess with gravity and things like that. Fuck it, I'll still make a shitty one.' The cube then began to change, more materials from random space rings he threw together before bent and melted from his energies.
The cube's frame was covered, all sorts of fantastic materials and items lost inside. Intricate in design, but so simple to many.
The cube turned a very pale purple, sorts of hexagonal shapes giving it texture. It felt and looked like a cube of colorful liquid. Reflecting lights so well. A beautiful shine to it.
And then, after a few more weeks of tempering and testing, it was done. A pale purple cube with pink and light blue hues to it, hexagonal shapes covering it everywhere, two rings of the same colors orbiting it.
Turning it on, the cube grew and shrank to the beat of the played music. Like some bass.
'The music is so loud compared to most of Earth's technology. But it's better this way.'
Finally, his plan from his Overlord era had granted him a fruitful harvest.
Music Cube completed!
'Ha~'
'So let's recap so that I don't miss anything...' Following his thought, his void Sense focused on the cube, making sure to clearly see every inch of it.
'Frame made up of Ethereal Crystal Steel, check.'
'Core frame made up of Ten Decimated Spiritual Ore, check.'
'Then we have... inner frame... Two Faced Dimensional Ore, check as well. The outer frame is of... Liquid Dimensional Residue... check. Good. As for the rest...'
'Core area, the storage. The Remembering Tarp made up of two hundred Translucent Ghost Veils, and at the center of it all, protected by everything else... a red Memory Gem... Yes, everything in order. After that is the inner zone, with a Dimensional Whisper Array and a few others. I can see the Hundred Mirror Array, Four Ghostly Diagrams and the Hidden Thirteen Flags Array. Next, the outer part. Reverberation Crystals and the Pulse Absorbing Threads.'
'Finally... we have the outer shell, yep, see everything. Hexagonal Pulse Demon Skin coated with Angelic Hallowed Compound smeared all over like I was drunk. The Dual Illumination Ore is present as well.'
'Very nicely done. If I do say so myself while dishonest. But let's be honest, it's poorly made indeed. I can't even coat the damn hexagonal skin demon whatever properly...'
'Well... if it works, it works. I'm not going to sweat the details.'
'And to finish it all off, the two rings of Hardened Pulsating Ethereal Tears from the weeps of divinities from ancient eras.'
'Great!'
'Now, where do I go next...' Rewinding time back to his good old 2036, he looked around. He had already made copies of everything, including all musical pieces, but also games of all sorts as well as comics and novels too.
He also killed and stole the memories of many polyglots.
So now, he could finally have proper fun. And unknown to many, his Music Cube was already in action.
His steps like ones of ghosts, he weaved in and out around passersby on the streets, music in his ears, dancing around as if alone on the dancefloor. Fluidity all over, heading toward a luxury area, snapping his fingers in the air in tune to the rhythm.
"Because I love it when you lie, lie, lie~!"
"I can see it in your eye, eye, eyes~!"
"You don't even have to try, try, try~!"
'I love it!'
"We don't need to get it right, right, right~!"
'Why?'
"Because I love it when you lie, lie, lie~!"
"Hahaha! This is the life! The life my past self always wanted!"
"What a fitting name! My existence growing already!"
"Regret Finality indeed! Birth Supremacy indeed!"
"This is too easy! But most importantly..."
"This is so much fun!"
Even now, he could not hide his smile any longer. What sleep? What food? He should have just let loose like this from the very beginning! It felt much more invigorating this way!

The Orb Weaver Chronicles
"The Orb Weaver Chronicles contains several major and unique events that may or may not unknowingly intertwines with one another. The author of these chronicles is unknown, although some have hinted at the symbolism behind its name..." - Year unknown, location unknown 9 February 2022 Update: Welcome to the companion short story compilation of my novel trilogy The Shadow Paradigm. This compilation features prequels, sidequels and sequels to the novel's major plotline, as well as featuring a wide range of characters, new and recurring. Prior knowledge of the novel is not necessary as the Orb Weaver Chronicles' short stories are standalone. Once called The Arkesyyan Chronicles, I've deleted quite a few of its old stories. Due to the new avenue and revision, oriented toward more mystery and film-noir ambience, that I took my stories into, I've removed all aliens and overly sci-fi aspects of the whole TSP lineup, so I've updated the Orb Weaver Chronicles accordingly. I hope you enjoy them, and in time, a revised version will also be updated.
