“This is the Mercenary Guild.”
Uncle said as he walks through the door where other mercenaries walks into, I followed him inside and the loud noise I've been hearing outside the guild got louder as I saw people wearing different armors and carrying different weapons drinking and chatting with each other.
As I keep looking around the guild Uncle calls me.
”Lined up to that counter that's where you can register and ask about information, remember that if you want to get good quest come early in the morning cause there are tons of competitions for profitable ones and don't call me uncle I am only 25 call me Carl instead.”
Uncle- no, Uncle Carl said as he walks toward the counter that had sign saying Request/Submission.
"Thank you" thanking him I go to the counter which have a sign of Registration/Information where there's only five people lining up making me the only one in line in couple of minutes.
”How may I help you?”
The brown haired and yellow eyes receptionist on the counter ask me with a smile making my cheek blush a little because a beautiful woman who I rarely saw in my town talk to me.
“Um..I’m here to register.”
Seeing my reaction the receptionist chuckles as she ask me a question.
“Are you not from this city?”
“Yes, I'm from town close here, how did you figure that out?”
“It's just a guess, but all men who saw me for the first time blushes too like you, hehe” said the lady jokingly.
“Well its my first time to talk to a beautiful woman.” I replied scratching my head.
“Haha, you sure know how to talk, are you here to register or compliment me?”
“I almost forgot, what do I do to join?”

“Here fill up this paper and pay 5 bronze coins, Oh do you know how to read?” she asked as she hand a paper to me.
I nod at her question and pick up the paper while putting down the payment in the counter.
The paper that I took contain simple set of question about my name, age, strength/power, and experiences in fight, I finished filling it up not even a minute passed.
I gave back the form to her and when she read the paper the lady look at me worriedly.
“You have no experience in both sword and fighting yet you wish to become mercenary?” she asked.
”Um, I planned on taking quests that are not dangerous, I just need money to continue my travels.” I replied smiling wryly to the lady.
“Oh well its not that I can't stop you but just be careful out there, here's your badge its a sign that you are now a mercenary, remember you can only accept quest that fits your rank, the ranks starts at copper which is your current rank, followed by iron, bronze, silver, gold, platinum and diamond which is the highest. Lastly keep your badge with you so that you can use it to get a quest and submitting it and to use it to enter the city without paying a toll, if you lost it tell the guild so that they make a new one for 5 bronze coins.”
Taking the badge from the lady I looked at it and its just a plain copper plate with a sign of the guild up in my name but I feel happy because its the symbol of me being a mercenary.
”Um, do you know where to find a cheap inn for me to stay?” I asked.

”Here's the map follow it, the inn is cheap but has good food it is the top choice for new mercenary like you who doesn’t have much money.”
I said my thanks to her, I then took the map and beelined towards the door while looking around for Uncle Carl.
'I didn't see Uncle Carl maybe he already left the guild.' I thought as I exit the guild.
Following the map I end up in a more quiet part of the city couple streets away from the mercenary guild, in front of me stood an inn with a very simple and unique name. I open the door and saw a counter where the innkeeper lady sat, next to it is a stair towards the first floor and on the left side of the counter there's the dining hall where many people are already starting their dinner, seeing that there's a customer the lady in the counter smile at me.
”Are you here to dine or stay, sir?” she asked.
”I plan to stay how much does it cost for one night?”
Hearing that I'm staying the innkeeper lady's smile grew more.
“3 bronze coins for one night together with dinner.” she said.
'It perfectly match the name of the inn.'
“I plan staying for five days.” I said as I put the 15 bronze coins in the counter.
Seeing the money the innkeeper lady look at me still with the smile on her face and she said-
”Welcome sir, please enjoy your stay in our 'Cheapest Inn.'”
I smiled back at her as I took the key and look at it finding my room which is room 202, climbing the stairs until second floor I found my room and opened it, inside it there's a simple bed, a desk, a chair, a table and a drawer.
I closed the door behind me and put down my luggage as I walked towards the window, opening the curtain I saw the city that is the first destination of mine in this long adventure, its bathed in darkness caused by the sinking sun but when I started closing the curtain of my window the city which is black as abyss started to lit up with colors of light making the darkness that envelops it recede a little bit.
Seeing the city that supposedly sleep when moon sun hide came alive made me tears fall down my eyes as the built up feeling of loneliness that I felt when I was travelling from my town to this city burst out.
”I know that my goal is hard to accomplish but seeing this scenery I swear that no matter what trials I face or temptations I meet I'll continue towards my goal just for this kind of reward.”
That night I dreamt of myself traversing to countless different sceneries of places I have no memories of, some of them are beautiful but there are also scary and bizzare ones, in that dream my feet unceasingly step towards those places but instead of being scared I felt happiness inside me that I even have smile in my face.
