《Axis:Legacy》Chapter 13: Runs in the Family

Nurse Slate, Kyle, Petra, and Nina all stepped out of the Headmaster’s Office. Nurse Slate had a somewhat amused look towards Kyle and Petra meanwhile Nina had a confused look.
“In the end, he just told us to not tell anyone about this,” Petra commented in a low voice. “That’s the kind of thing that will backfire badly in the future, just saying.” Kyle pointed out looking at Nurse Slate.
“Query: Was the news of their Paternity that much of a problem that the only solution is silence?” Nina asked looking at Nurse Slate. “He’s probably just thinking of something, I suggest that you should just keep quiet on the whole topic for now.” Nurse Slate explained to both of them.
“What about Professors’ Pryce and Bell?” Kyle explained, all records indicated that both Thalia Pryce and Erisa Bell were not just underlings and close friends of both the Late Arios Elpis and Andras Desper, but rather they were lovers and are the True Mothers of both Thomas and Lissa.
And for the safety of both Thomas and Lissa, they were handed away to close friends to have them live a peaceful life and in hopes that they’ll be ignorant of their heritage. If they were to find out that their children are no less following the same path their fathers wanted, they’ll be devastated.
“As I said, we’ll just have to keep quiet on the whole matter. Especially around them.” Nurse Slate said the three of them sense Guilt in his tone. After all most of the Staff here, save for Professor Skye who was the youngest, have at one point fought alongside the two Heroes forming a sense of trust among them.
“I trust you three would keep quiet on the matter?” Nurse Slate said in a hopeful look.
Nina agreed almost immediately, but Kyle and Petra hesitated before agreeing altogether.
The two of them went to the Training room, neither of them had the appetite to eat after learning the truth but the two of them just sat there watching their two half-siblings in their daily sparring session.
“You have no intention of keeping it a secret do you?” Kyle asked as he glanced at Petra. “Pft, do you?” She asked with a dry laugh, Kyle simply smiled and the two continued to watch them.
“Hey want to hear something interesting I read in a book in the Library once?” Petra continued.
“Sure why not?”
“It is said that children tend to inherit a trait of their parents, the same also applies to them in combat as well. If that was the case, it would mean that they would inherit the same combat style as their parent or at least one of them.” Petra explained both of them would immediately observe closely since the two of them learned interesting things about their Fathers.
First and foremost is that both of them have a powerful Affinity of both Ki and Mana, but it was Arios who favored Ki resulting in developing not only high mobility in combat but also a powerful Pugilist where, if some accounts are to be believed, can be unaffected and effectively cancel out Mana attacks entirely. Andras on the other hand was the opposite, he favored Mana attacks with extreme efficiency were, much like some accounts of Arios is to be believed, managed to create a form of magic that can command the power of the Stars.

Second that both of them were skilled Swordsmen, even without their affinity for both Ki and Mana, they were still powerful fighters on the field. Combining their affinities with the swordsmanship, however, they would become extremely powerful warriors that devastated the battlefield, with Arios becoming an agile fighter putting his Ki affinity to extreme efficiency while Andras combining all sorts of spells and enhancements into his attacks with great effect.
Third, while it wasn’t obvious upon reaching the old age, but in terms of Temperament, Arios was impulsive acting first before thinking meanwhile Andras was calculating analyzing his opponent first before making a move.
Both Petra and Kyle exchanged knowing looks as they watch Thomas and Lissa fight.
In terms of fighting, it would seem that Thomas favored heavy attacks while Lissa opted for a more agile approach.
While Thomas has yet to learn any proper combat spells like his father, it’s fairly obvious that Lissa uses Ki into her footsteps as she continued to bombard Thomas with her training weapon.
On the surface, it was obvious that Lissa is aloof towards others while Thomas is more upbeat towards others. But in combat, it’s the opposite, with Lissa following more on instinct and her hot bloodedness while Thomas is more calculating, going on defense first before making a counter-attack.
“I guess its two out of three then,” Petra concluded. “Well, four out of six to be precise. But you have a point.” Kyle nodded in a low voice.
“Good grief those two are still at it again?” Both of them turned around to find a visibly irritated Professor Mills standing behind them as his hand glowed and then extended it causing both Thomas and Lissa to stop midway during their fight.
“Really?!” Both of them looked at Professor Mills in mild irritation as well causing both Kyle and Petra to stifle a laugh while Professor Mills lectures them about dragging their fights too long that they’re taking up the entire Training Room preventing other students to begin their training.
“I guess they got cock blocked.” Kyle chuckled, causing Petra to grit her teeth trying her best not to laugh. “Hey, I have an idea.” Petra smiled, it was honestly the first time Kyle saw her smile to which he couldn’t resist smiling back from it.
“What do you have in mind?”
[Axis:Legacy]
“Okay so that’s another draw then, that’s 18-17-30 then.” Lissa sighed as she and Thomas left the Training Room. “I like how you actually included the time's Professor Mills interrupted us in a fight.” Thomas chuckled as the two of them walked in the hallway.
“That reminds me, have you managed to find a new weapon?” Thomas asked her as he buried his hands in his pockets.
“Not yet,” Lissa shook her head, after the mission at the Culthos Mountains both of them lost Adarin and Hraevesglr as a result both of them have to rebuild another weapon from scratch. “But dammit I miss Adarin…”
“Yeah I know how it feels,” Thomas said slumping his shoulders at the memory of losing his weapon. “Well, any progress of making a new weapon then?”
“Zero.” Lissa shook her head. “I’ve been considering trying weapons other than swords as a change of pace. Like Halberds and Heavy Rifles.”

“The idea of you using heavy weaponry is both a sight to behold but also one of mild terror,” Thomas commented, after all, he was used to seeing Lissa conducting on high mobility attacks, the fact that she would go and use heavy weapons at high speeds will make her a nightmare in combat.
“What about you? Are you going to be sticking to a sword?” Lissa stifled a laugh from his comment.
“Probably not,” Thomas laughed. “I’m thinking of maybe picking up a glaive or maybe small guns to change, it helps to keep a bit versatile.”
“How about we make a wager just like before,” Lissa commented offering her hand. “Make the best weapon in the given time and let’s settle it in a sparring match.”
“That’s awfully uncharacteristic of you Lissa Ikross, I expect you’d find such an idea to be idiotic.” Thomas teased her, this instead caused Lissa to give him a smug smile.
“And you’re awfully uncharacteristic as well Thomas Orphen, normally you’d accept without hesitation simply for the fun of it.” Lissa teased back, this instead earned a smirk from Thomas.
“Who said I’d back down from that?” Thomas said shaking her hand. “You got yourself a deal!”
“Ah looks like Thomas and Lissa are at their usual wagers again.” The two heard two of their batch mates walk past them with an amused laugh causing both of them to immediately pull away. Thanks to Jun and Ester both of them are very much aware that that people think that they are a couple.
While Thomas doesn’t mind, he wasn’t sure about Lissa’s opinion on the entire topic.
There was something in Thomas’ blank stare that Lissa find it amusing, a week had passed since their wager and yet there they were standing in front of one another with their new weapons. Both have been rushed and both of them agreed to be nothing more than Second Rate Weapons compared to their predecessors.
But that wasn’t the reason why both of them were at the very least exasperated from it.
No, the reason was that their weapons were no different from their original ones, with Thomas using a crude and heavy gunmetal black two-handed Sword-Mace without the Mana Bullet Chamber from before, as a result, looked more like a crude weapon for chopping. While her weapon is a pair of lighter Silver Rapiers that can be linked together forming a double-edged javelin.
“…What happened to the Halberd or Heavy Rifles you were bragging about?” Thomas simply said resting the Sword-Mace on his shoulders.
“…Only if you tell me about your Glaive or Small Guns that you promised?” Lissa retorted she raised an eyebrow at the sword due to its size. “It’s like your compensating for something, to be honest.”
“If there’s one person that’s compensating it’s probably you.” Thomas pointed out staring at her chest but Lissa managed to hear that and was very much tempted to throw her Rapier at him.
“Why don’t you man up and tell that to my face then.” She said with a passive-aggressive smile that everyone present shuddered in mild terror. Thomas himself swallowed a lump in his throat realizing the implications of what he had said.
“How about we make things interesting between you two.”
Both of them turned around and saw Petra and Kyle walking towards them with Kyle equipping a pair of heavy Gauntlets bearing the likeness of a Lion while Petra held a cane bearing the likeness of a Wolf. Lissa smiled a bit a Kyle, slightly relieved that at the very least the two of them were already fine compared to before.
“What do you have in mind?” Thomas asked with a smile.
“Two versus two, you and me, versus Kyle and Lissa’s,” Petra explained as she tapped her cane on the ground as a glyph appeared on the ground. “Wait that’s the plan?” Kyle asked giving a confused look at Petra.
“What do you have in mind?” Petra asked raising an eyebrow at him.
“I’m glad you asked,” Kyle smiled menacingly causing both Thomas and Lissa to shudder in fear, as that’s the kind of smile he makes a powerful boss for them to fight in Terra Warzone.
“Lissa and Thomas versus us,” Kyle said slamming his gauntlets together with a heavy Thunk! Noise. Lissa and Thomas exchanged worried looks, they have seen both of them in a fight before but they can’t just back away in a challenge it would go against their pride as a fighter as well.
“You’re on!” Both Lissa and Thomas said after a moment of thinking.
“Hold it both of you!”
The four of them looked at Professor Mills, his class was still in an hour but he arrived just in time before any of them could begin.
“Since you, four are that eager to fight, again, this time I’ll be keeping an eye on both of you on a certain Time Limit.” Professor Mills pointed out earning an amused scoff from Thomas only for Lissa to give him an irked look only for him to suddenly quiet.
“You four have a few minutes—” Professor Mills walked away with his back turned, with Lissa making the first move by boosting her legs with Ki as she launched herself at Petra only to be immediately intercepted by Kyle who did the same thing but also reinforced his Lion Gauntlets with Ki as well sending Lissa back but was quickly intercepted by Thomas who managed to slam his Sword Mace at him on the chest sending him flying.
Meanwhile, Petra cast a flaming black chain which enveloped itself around Thomas’ leg sending him flying up in the air allowing Kyle to slam his Gauntlet at Thomas sending him crashing on the ground as Lissa ran past them as she linked her Rapiers together and lunged at Petra who managed to block it with a Mana Barrier while simultaneously freezing the ground around her shoes pinning her in place.
“—once that’s over I’ll force you four to stop until then go for it.” Professor Hathaway said ignoring the onslaught behind him.

Which means a better reading experience for you guys as well as a better writing experience for myself.I started writing this at like 3am and didn't account for the fact that I have like- no idea how to treat wounds (overall) but uh- too late now I guess...Cover art by wanderlustlily on tumblr
