《Axis:Legacy》Chapter 12: Paternity

All of them stared at Nina who gave them a deadpan look on her face. What did she mean by Thomas and Lissa having the highest compatibility with the Clones? All eyes turned to Thomas and Lissa who were just as confused as they are.
“Maybe we should call it a day and rest.” Nurse Slate clearing his throat and ushering them out of the office, it was after all evening and all of them were exhausted (and injured in regards to Thomas’ hand) so naturally all of them agreed to head back to their respective dorms without hesitation. However, Nina remained as she narrowed her eyes at him.
“Accusation: You are hiding something from them.” Nina pointed out. “There are some things…they aren’t ready to know about especially Thomas and Lissa.” Nurse Slate said in a low voice as he turned towards her.
“Query: But why are they unaware of the truth?” She asked him as he took a seat. “Take a seat, Nina, I have a lot of things to discuss with you.”
[Axis:Legacy]
“What happened to your hand?” Yvonne asked glancing at Thomas’ hand as soon as she saw his bandaged hand. “Oh, this? I got into a bit of a reckless accident.” Thomas smiled earning a nervous chuckle from Ester behind them while Axel curled on Yvonne’s lap while she gently rubbed the back of his head.
“You should be more careful then.” Yvonne rolled her eyes. “Oh is that concern I hear in your voice?” Thomas teased her with an equally teasing grin.
“If you weren’t injured I would have given you a fist in your face.” She said with a glare. “Joking aside it’s not so bad anyway.” Thomas continued looking at the hand recalling that rare look of concern that Lissa had at the time, which he found somewhat adorable.
Though if she were to hear of that he’ll likely be on the receiving end of a sparring sword, as their weapons were lost and any attempts of returning there in the future might seem difficult. With that place being a potential hideout for ALC Members.
“Keep telling yourself that,” Yvonne muttered and returned her attention towards Axel.
“That reminds me, what will happen to Nina?” Ester whispered to Thomas. As after leaving the Nurse’s Office the last thing that Thomas ever saw was Nina staying within there that evening. “Oh yeah, I wonder what will happen to her,” Thomas whispered back.
Meanwhile, on Class 1-A, both Lissa and Louis looked in surprise at their new classmate sitting nearby. Which was none other than Nina, or Nina Erde as she introduced herself, as it was announced earlier that day.
“You alright?” Uther asked Lissa in mild concern. “You look slightly pale.”
“I’m just surprised.” Lissa lied. “I’m going to talk to the new student.”
“Want me to help?” Uther offered.
“I’m good,” Lissa reassured him as she made her way towards Nina.
“Statement: Hello, I didn’t know you were the Class Representative whichever the case I am in your care,” Nina said with a nod.
“I have several questions that I hope you can answer them later at lunch if it’s alright,” Lissa told her. “But that aside if you have any troubles regarding classes or anything don’t hesitate to let me know.”

“Statement: I understand, in terms of academics I am quite adaptable in more ways than you think.” Nina nodded as Lissa returned to her seat.
From what Lissa had observed so far, Nina was capable of blending into class with several of her classmates already befriending her as she was very much open to talk to others, something that Louis and Jun teased Lissa who was as friendly as a corpse. And while they found her speech pattern slightly weird, as she was prone to add prefaces into her sentences, but apart from that, she was nice and friendly to all.
Despite being technically an Automata she’s surprisingly friendly, even if she was programmed a while ago to nearly kill us and was slightly the cause for Thomas’ hand injury. Lissa thought as she watched Louis, with Jun tailing behind him, talk to her. But upon recalling the incident memories of her bandaging Thomas’ broken hand came flooding back causing her to shake her head in mild annoyance.
Especially that cute smile he had towards her that night.
What the hell? It’s that moron’s fault for punching a heavily armored machine even if he reinforced it with Ki. Lissa quickly dismissed the thought as she glanced at her hand. Come to think of it, I told myself that I won’t view him as a Rival and yet I’m barely doing anything to befriend him. Not to mention he seems more focused on taking things seriously in contrast to before and—
“Lissa?” Jun asked her worriedly. “Are you alright? You were spacing out earlier.”
“I’m fine,” She gave her a reassuring smile. “I was just thinking about something.”
“It’s about Thomas wasn’t it?” Jun teased earning an amused laugh from Louis.
“Yes, I—” She immediately placed a palm on her face realizing the teasing smile had intensified. “—knock that grin off your face Zhan, I didn’t mean it like that.”
“Suuuuure you do,” Jun said with the same teasing smile as before. “I saw him earlier with a bandaged up hand, I bet you were involved with that too.”
“I mean you’re not wrong.” Louis scoffed in a low voice causing Lissa to glare at him earning an amused laugh from Jun. “Oh my, it would seem that your ‘daily training’ with him has taken a whole new level huh.” Jun continued causing Louis to laugh.
“Damn it Jun that’s not what I meant,” Lissa said placing a palm on her face. “Besides we’re not even that close.”
“That’s not what everyone thinks you know.” Jun pointed out.
“Why is that?”
“Well for starters everyone assumed that your rivalry with him is just a cover-up to the fact that you two are a couple,” Jun explained sitting down in front of her. ”Another is the fact that despite the fact you two are rivals, you two are surprisingly close especially since you two regularly attend the Terra Warzone sessions together.”
“Why would they assume that we're a couple just from our rivalry alone?” Lissa asked raising a brow at Jun.
“It’s a common trope in watching Dramas,” Louis shrugged. “There are two ways to go for academic rivalries, either they turn into arch enemies or they fall in love.”
“And you know this how?”
“I join a handful of other students watching in the Commons Room in the Dorms, they keep streaming a lot of drama shows,” Louis explained, Lissa scoffed at the explanation. Sure Thomas has his good points but there was no way Lissa would view him as a love interest.

“Please don’t assume people’s relationships,” Lissa simply remarked. “It’s just weird.”
[Axis:Legacy]
Due to his hand injury, Thomas’ wasn’t allowed to do his daily sparring sessions with Lissa. As such he was only subjected to eat his lunch at the benches while he watches Yvonne and Ren spar, with the former is armed with a pair of twin khopesh while the latter is equipped with a smaller Warhammer.
“You’re quite agile for someone armed with a heavy weapon,” Yvonne complimented him as she dodged a blow from his Warhammer. “I prefer to keep things balanced,” Ren spoke as his cheek was nearly grazed by her Khopesh
“You’re still a bit behind on proper training in that case.” Yvonne pointed out as she rolled to the side as he slammed his Warhammer next to her and followed with a kick at her abdomen.
“In that case, I’ll need to keep on practicing if I wanted to be as good as you and Thomas then,” Ren smiled as she stood up and faced him readying her Khopesh. “You should,” Yvonne said in a low voice as she lunged at him and swung her Khopesh in a downward arc and forcing him to move back.
“A bit bored from not fighting?”
He turned around to find Lissa walking towards him with her lunch ready with a mildly flustered look.
“Very.” Thomas chuckled. “But I thought you’d be eating lunch at the main Cafeteria?”
“I thought it would be a nice change of pace to eat here.” Lissa lied, it was mostly because Jun accused that she was holding back and dared her to eat lunch with Thomas together.
But there was no way she’d admit that to him since he would probably tease her as well.
“So uh…how’s the hand?” She asked him trying to start a conversation.
“It’s getting back to normal but Nurse Slate told me not to exert too much force into it,” Thomas answered showing his hands, which unlike before hurt when he moved his fingers with a heavy splint into it, this time it was lightly bandaged with him being able to move his fingers freely.
“I’m glad to hear about that then.” Lissa smiled as him she was still torn between being worried about his hand injury and calling him an idiot for letting his hand get broken. “Ah, there it is again,” Thomas smiled as he rested his back on the seat with the same kind smile earlier.
“What is?” Lissa gave him a confused look. “That sweet smile that suits you well,” Thomas chuckled as he finished his lunch, earning an amused eye roll from Lissa.
“You know flattery isn’t going to win you favors in the future Orphen.” Lissa smiled at him as she continued to eat lunch. “But I was serious though. You’re a lot more beautiful when you smile you know.” Thomas chuckled.
“Yeah yeah, cut the Simpery out already,” Lissa said slightly flustered from his relaxed remark.
“Can you two not flirt in front of us!”
Both of them looked at Ren who had an amused look on him while Yvonne had a mildly irked glare at both of them.
“We were not flirting!” Lissa said in a rarely embarrassed voice with an adorable blush on her face.
“Hey mind your own business,” Thomas responded with an amused laugh.

Nina stood outside the Headmaster’s office, her first day had been somewhat interesting. With her even befriending most of her classmates, especially Jun. But she was immediately called by the Headmaster to discuss something important.
Upon entering the room, she saw headmaster Myrlus Kain, an aging veteran of the Axis Conflict, and even fought alongside the famed Andras Desper and Arios Elpis. Accompanying him inside was Nurse Slate alongside the two clones, Kyle Hoffman and Petra Lowell, who has finally begun to recover after the entire ordeal but were told to rest instead of attending classes.
“Query: I was told that you require my presence?” Nina asked upon entering the room.
“Yes please take a seat.” Headmaster Kain said as she took a seat nearby and looked at Headmaster Kain for a moment all of them kept silent until Headmaster Kain cleared his throat.
“Is it true?” He asked, almost nervously at her. “That you discovered that two of the students are possibly Andras and Arios’ children?”
“Shouldn’t we at least tell Professor Pryce and Professor Bell about this?” Petra asked in a low voice. “I’m more interested in why are we even needed here?” Kyle commented.
“Not yet, we can’t jump to conclusions. As for you two, well you both have the right to know despite it all.” Nurse Slate commented, and then gave them a reassuring smile. “Look at it this way, you two can be their older siblings?”
“That’s both funny and dark to think about given what we went through.” Kyle scoffed as he shook his head in disapproval.
“Statement: Yes, I have confirmed that students Lissa Ikross and Thomas Orphen are related to the two,” Nina spoke, this immediately caused Kyle to give her a surprised look while Petra frowned at the revelation. “Which one…are they related to?” Petra asked innocently.
“Explanation: Based on the analysis of their blood as well as your blood, I can confirm that Lissa Ikross has the highest compatibility with Kyle Hoffman as both of them are related to Arios Elpis. Meanwhile, Thomas Orphen has the highest compatibility with Petra Lowell.” Nina explained to them, causing all of them to fall silent.
Eventually, it was Nurse Slate who spoke next.
“Do we have to tell them?” he asked them.
“No,” Petra answered as memories of her friends, or rather former friends especially Sen Felwind, discovering what she is and calling her a freak for it. “They don’t need this burden, if people learned about who their parents where then it’ll cause many to look at them with interest, especially the Princes.”
“I agree.” Kyle nodded. “The only reason that they haven’t approached us is that they know we’re defective and are viewed as useless. But if they find out about them, then that’s a whole different story.”
“That’s not even mentioning the ALC,” Petra added.
“What do you think Headmaster?” Nurse Slate asked Headmaster Kain.
But he kept silent throughout the entire talk.

System Only Gives Me Useless Gifts
Li Yun grew up with a system that gave him useless gifts. He wanted a reward that could prove the existence of the system, but ended up with abstract gifts like culture. Without physical proof, he was stuck wondering whether his mind was truly sane, all the while dealing with the reality of life. How will the "useless" system help Li Yun navigate medical school, hospital politics, criminal cases, treasure hunting, farming and cooking? Author's Note: This is a slice-of-life novel about a doctor with a mission-type system. It's written as a faux modern Chinese novel, so there are many 1-off characters and episodic mini arcs. Just a bit of warning, the tone of the story is very different after the childhood arc and jumpy as it chronicles Li Yun's life. I'm trying to make it less apparent in the rewrite, but there are still a lot of time skips. RR is the rewrite version, no set schedule. See webnovel for OG. scribblehub is a combo of both . I recommend scribblehub since it has pictures. Copyrights of the novel and cover are owned by Chocomug. Novel is free to read and download for personal use, such as offline reading, only.
