《The Devil's Parcel》Chapter 8: Surprise Visit

"Push" Lilith's doctor made it to her house to assist in Lilith's birth. The doctor was very respected in the country and one of the best in the continent, so needless to say, Lilith was in good hands.
In pain, Lilith said, "I am."
The doctor sees her progress, notices an ovular object is almost out and tells Lilith to "Push." With one final push Lilith lays an egg. Everyone looks at the egg with shock, and after a while, Lilith breaks the silence "Doctor, you can leave. And please don't tell anyone about the egg.". The doctor agrees to her request, gives her medicine, and then leaves. Lillia and Benjamin looked mesmerized at the egg, not knowing what to say or do, but regardless, they had to say something.
"You really laid an egg Lilith" Lillia was still shocked because she had never seen a dragon egg before. "We knew he was a dragon, but I thought only dragons laid eggs."
"Congratulations, Lilith," Benjamin hugs Lilith, virtually breaking all the tension everyone had. Lillia also congratulated Lilith on her 'birth' and decided to celebrate by having the capital throw a party celebrating the egg-laying.
"A party, really, Lillia?" Benjamin proceeded to scold Lillia for being so naive. "How am I being naive?!"
"Did you not forget that's a dragon egg? And if you did, then let me remind you it's a dragon egg."
Lillia and Benjamin kept bickering, and Lilith was getting annoyed in the middle of it. She was about to tell them off, but she noticed they were frozen; she looked around but noticed that they weren't the only frozen things. Lilith sets the egg down and looks outside her window and sees everyone, and everything is frozen from the tree branches to the people. "My My isn't he beautiful" Lilith turns around to see a man holding her egg.

"Who are you." Lilith was ready to attack but couldn't for the fears of damaging the egg
"There is no need to worry, Lilith; I just came to see Alastors child. Isn't he handsome"
"How do you know it's Alastor's child, and not to mention how do you know it's a 'he' "
"Come look at the egg. You can tell just by looking at the design of it."
"You still haven't answered my question. WHO ARE YOU."
"Arent you impatient? My name is Abel, and I have known Alastor ever since we were mere children."
"Abel..." Lilith was familiar with the name, but she didn't know where. "If you are Alastors friend, how come I haven't seen you."
"You see, I have been sealed away for quite a while."
Lilith remembers his name "Wait, didn't you fight against Alastor with Amaya, my father, and Samael."
"I did"
"If you were friends, then why would you fight him."
"We fought him because he lost control."
"Control of what? His mastery over his power has always been perfect."
"Indeed, he didn't lose control, but he was going to kill everyone."
"Why was he going to kill everyone."
"Because of you. Back then, you were by his side as his lover, but your kind didn't like that and tried to keep you away from him. You wouldn't listen, and they ended up trying to kill you, but they couldn't. Every couple thousand years, one of your kind is born with the ability to live forever and extreme magical abilities. This is the reason why your kind didn't want you to be with him. When they tried to kill you, he snapped. He slaughtered all six hundred million of your kind without hesitation. In the wake of the slaughter, we wanted to stop him, but he was too strong, and you tried to stop him, but you were nearly killed by him. After you were mortally wounded, the fighting stopped instantly. He saved you and erased your memories, and he ended up sealing me away."

"Why should I believe you."
"Because you have a scar under your left breast and on the other side on your back."
Lilith realizes he's telling the truth and asks him a simple question, "Why are you here."
"I came to deliver a message from Alastor. He says he's sorry he couldn't make it to his child's birth and don't free him from his prison until the time is right. Also, one last thing, Lilith, don't dwell on the past" Abel turns to leave. Before he does, he remembers something else "Oh yea, I also have a gift from him to you" Abel reaches his arm out. Lilith takes it, and with a surge of power entering her body, he leaves the egg where he found it and leaves.
All at once, everything unfreezes and returns to normal. The bickering continued until Benjamin and Lillia noticed Lilith wasn't there. "Lilith, where are you !"
Lilith was holding her egg on the roof of her house, thinking about what Abel told her. Lilith's emotions were confused. Can she really trust a man claiming to be Alastors friend? Who really is Alastor? Did he really kill her kind? All these thoughts were racing through her mind, and then she realized what Abel had just told her, "Don't dwell on the past." and decided to not take his advice.
Lillia and Benjamin found Lilith on the roof. "Oh, there you are, Lilith; we were worried about you."
"Oh, sorry, I was just thinking about things."
The two noticed the change in her tone. "What happened, Lilith?" Lillia asked
Lilith sighed and told them about her encounter with Abel and what she was told, and endless to say, the two were worried about the implications this led to.
A minute passed before Lilith spoke, "There are way too many mysteries in this land, and I need to figure out what they are and why Alastor is in the middle of all of it."

My Newest, and at the same time, Oldest novel. This is a Rewrite of my very first novel that I begun when I was just starting out. It follows the story of Mark Floyd, a broken man who once tried to do what he thought was right... only to be stabbed in the back and thrown away. Now, pulled into a conflict that spans time and space, Mark has a choice to make; Stand up once more, even if it means facing an unknowable future, or let the Embers of his heart die and sink back into darkness. ----------------------------------- “For gold is tried in the fire, and acceptable men in the furnace of adversity”. Once part of a Special Ops team in the US Army, Mark Floyd thought he had seen the worst that Humanity had to offer. That was until his final mission, one that would leave him a broken and shattered man, betrayed by the Country he served, and abandoned by society as a whole. His dreams filled with nightmares of the ones he failed to protect, mind and memories clouded by booze and more, Mark finds himself stumbling through life without purpose or desire. Life isn't done with Mark yet, however. For as long as even a single ember remains in a persons heart, here is still yet hope for the flames of Passion and Hope to be Rekindled. When the dying embers of Mark's heart catches the eyes of a Being far beyond his understanding, Mark finds himself thrown into a situation not even his years of training could prepare him for. Will this new chance be Mark's hope at both Redemption and Recompense? Or will it simply be the final nail in the coffin for a man already dead to the World? [This is a rework of my very first story. The general story will remain the same, however a few details have been tweaked, the chapters have be Edited better and some chapters have been broken down into smaller chunks for better flow and consistency. The biggest change will be to the System itself; It will be a lot less "Game-like", meaning no stats, levels or similar aspect, though skills will still be present in the form of "Programs". Instead, It'll focus more on the Sigil's nature as super-computers and how they change the world around them. This should make for a much more "natural" and less info-dumpy system.

Essentia Animus
Second Book of the Soul - Celesi Veil Trilogy When the living essence of three girls are put at risk, giving room for a second essence within themselves, even their hyper developed fantasy world might not be enough to contain their new found ambitions. Another story of another world, these three girls must adapt to their new essence, all while each is left to question if they are truly still even alive. While this story is a sequel of the previous story in the trillogy, it is also fully capable of standing alone in its own light, taking place in a distant corner of a Celese returning readers will be otherwise incapable of recognizing. However, the events of the story are a spoiler for the previous book, in case that matters to anyone. This story takes place over two centuries after the events of Vitae Memorandum, when Celese had developed into an advanced world, improved to a point that it is much like modern-day Earth while still using the gift instead of technology. The Aethyx languages are still present in this book, and even English still exists in the world after the events of the previous book, but are much less of a focus after the same closing events of the previous book. What is instead important is how the ending events of the previous book had resulted in the start of the Instrumentation Era, and exactly how the gift translates in a modern-day sense. While this book is still effectively a fantasy world of its own kind of magic, it isn’t the classical medieval scene that would be typical for such a story. The laws of science still do not exist in Celese, but that didn’t stop it from developing into something that looks similar enough. Earth itself still remains present on the other side of the veil, and its previous exposure continues to shape and advance Celese into the world it has become. This story contains scenes exibiting mania and similar dark themes, as it goes to great length to explore concepts of life and death. While the degree of such themes should not be considered to be as serious compared to matters such as actual horror, the psychological depth is still siginifcant enough to be potentially concerning for people sensitive to matters of this nature, such as any individuals with concerns questioning matters of suicide, mental harm, or a variety of emotional injuries. While none of these subjects actually occur in the story, readers who are currently troubled by such matters may find themselves considering old wounds if they are especially capable of empathy while reading, which could lead to furthered emotional or mental stress. Readers with a high capacity for empathy may find themselves troubled by concerns regarding any potential lack of mental/emotional control as well as considerations regarding the meaning of death. Readers who appreciate subtle dark themes in a story may instead find this to be an interesting twist of the same idea.
