《The Mentor》Chapter 18: To be or not to be

His Mentor sat propped, no, chained into a sitting position, facing him. He had watched the delicate surgery take place before him as they removed her left eye and hand the bloody member to Red Beard to be delivered unto the Master of the City. After they had sewn her shut and given her a few rounds of medications, they chained her into a sitting position facing him and him likewise. Heath could ascertain the message written in the bloody ink before him, and read it in clear and precise letters as if it were from the great library in Baciu Manor.
"You will surrender or you will slowly die," is what their book read over and over as Karen moaned from the pain in her unconscious state. She sturred back and forth, making the chains echo and rattle with each rack of pain that tormented her suddenly ancient-looking body. Heath now noticed the multitude of scars from wounds received in service of her Master. How it seems she had lost herself, her own being, to protecting Gerald all these many years. Despite his burning hatred for her, he felt a great swell of pity for the Dhampir. But what of himself? Was he willing to lose his sense of self to win his life? Was it worth compromising a deep-held belief that he was more than property so he could live another minute or an hour or even a century?
Heath, with confusion consuming him, closed his eyes once more to the gruesome sight before him to contemplate his future plight and the answer they would be expecting and soon.
The door creaked open with the sound of metal squealing, startling Heath awake again. They had not afforded him a single minute asleep. Every time he fell asleep someone with a cattle prod came in to wake him up again.

"Wakey, Wakey you Dhampir bastard!" a thin, rose-haired, hooked nose Shtriga called out ruefully, almost gleefully again as Heath's body racked with convulsions as the electricity from the cattle prod raced through his nervous system. For good measure, she strode across the room purposefully and applied the prod liberally to his now wake Mentor. Heath wanted to close his eyes to shut out the picture of her writhing in pain, straining against the bindings that held them in place. Anger welled up inside him as he heard her scream in agony as the prod crackled against her naked, scared skin.
"Come get me you Bitch!" Heath spat angrily at the guard, his venom-filled voice echoing off the empty stone walls of their cell, " It is easy to torture the weak and injured but try your hand at the young and strong. It might not be to your liking!"
A deep chuckle came from outside the door and the sound of a chair creaked as someone stood to their feet. Ominous heavy footsteps filled Heath's sensitive hearing, thunder claps of an impending storm, as Red Beard, the giant, hulking Dhampir entered the room. He shook his head, grey eyes twinkling with malicious delight as he stared at his captive.
"Tsk, tsk, even a novice should know that a Dhampir should never threaten a Shtriga," He said gleefully as he walked the few steps over to Heath's chained position. A heavy boot rose and then fell, bringing darkness to Heath.
A pounding sensation filled his head, immediately followed by panic. He was drowning and darkness surrounded him. He tried to swim but he couldn't. His hands were bound and all he could do was sit there. Sit? He was firmly sitting in a chair and his senses were coming around. A cloth covered his face and water was being poured over it. Between buckets, he was able to breathe but only slightly, and then he was drowning again.

An eternity seemed to pass and then a voice called out to him, "If you submit to us, this will stop."
Heath shook his head vigorously. The next bucket must have contained ice. The shock of the sudden cold took all his breath away and locked his lungs. His chest burned brutally and his heart beat so rapidly it felt like it would burst within his chest. How much more time passed before it stopped, Heath did not know.
"Think about it over your next nap. Your time is running out."
A hard rap and the world faded into blissful darkness but did not bring peace. Nightmares of drownings and blood filled the darkness and Heath woke sobbing, wondering if what he was fighting for was truly worth the war he was waging.

Thirteen years ago there was a massacre; a witch hunt of the worst kind with the ashes of innocents falling from the sky. Now, the world is made up of fragile glass, the cracks sharp and jagged. Hatred boils the crimson sea beneath the surface. All it takes is one wrong move- A plan to change the world.A bloody smile with an unspoken apology.A girl with bleeding hair in the monster filled mountains.A change in destiny. -for it to shatter. This is the story about the second war between nephlims and humans. This is the story of how everything ends. -- (21JUN2020 story will be active for another week, I unfortunately do not have a backlog so I can't extend my chapter updates until another port call. I do not know when the next port call will be so I will be on another Hiatus for an undetermined amount of time. Scribblehub is not blocked on my work computer so I will be able to update my story on that website. It can be found here.) This story is a draft, I'll be doing my best to update monthly; work might get in the way of that so some update might be delayed an extra week or so. There will be roughly 31 chapters in total (I have the entire plot written down for the first book and the overall plot written down for the entire series.). (Summary is also a WIP and will change later to better fit the story. Any advice on how to write a summary for multiple POV's would be amazing)
8 132To Blunt The Sharpest Claw
The Velvet Paw of Asquith Novels are a series of New Fable genre novels that involve cats and dogs and high adventure and romance and espionage and food-fights and hotels and explosions and car chases. With large casts, exotic locations and an absurdity only possible in the absence of human characters, the Velvet Paw of Asquith Novels blend Wind in the Willows with James Bond, though with more cafes and fewer badgers. This submission is the third title in its Morigan Trilogy, beginning two-thirds of the way through the series' longest adventure yet. Here's a quick recount of what's happened so far: When Oscar Teabag-Dooven, a Velvet Paw of Asquith, is ordered to investigate how a mysterious poet, the Ar'dath-Irr, is able to travel instantaneously around the world, two very bad things happen. Firstly, he meets Lydia, an insane librarian who punches everyone in the face, and secondly, the Ar'dath-Irr reveals he is intent on taking over the world. Although this second thing might be considered worse than the first, Oscar feels differently following Lydia’s destruction of a cafe, a library and his face in one afternoon. In comparison, thwarting world domination just seems easier. Along with Binklemitre, a fellow Velvet Paw of Asquith, and Lydia, Oscar infiltrates the Ar’dath-Irr’s realm of dark poetry to discover the dog not only intends wrenching the world apart but has no intention of cleaning up afterwards. As a result, Oscar decides it’s all too hard and goes home to have a bath. After lots of arguing and the sort of food fight that posh restaurants were invented for, Lydia and Binklemitre convince him that they must stop the Ar’dath-Irr for several reasons, one of them quite serious. A vibrant cast of characters collide as Oscar, Lydia and Binklemitre battle the Ar’dath-Irr and his disciples in an adventure involving exploding cafés and appalling hotels, car chases and inadvertent surgery, dreadful poetry, lots of arguments and at least one temper-tantrum, all of which draw the three into dark and convoluted corners of a world they weren’t aware existed. Moreover, any chance of sitting down and discussing things over some buns disappears when Lydia punches the Ar’dath-Irr in the face. This results in her having a psychotic episode and Oscar getting run over by an ambulance. Although Binklemitre suffers neither, he witnesses both, which is almost as dreadful, though not nearly so messy. An enormous battle ensues, followed by a dinner party and then everything explodes.

( My third fan-fic, will be currently working on Frontier Online and Space Games as my main and this as a breather in between the two) I am Julie, an average girl attending an average high school in an average town in some average countryside. He told me one or two things and left me with this tiny sphere but in it, was an endless amount of possibilities
8 107Living In Bleach ( Bleach x Reader)
I decided to make another bleach story since I had a great plot come to mind. Also this is an x Reader story, but I don't think you'll fall in love it's more like an adventure like a scenario for you.In this story you end up discovering more things about yourself and what you happen to be (not a soul reaper). This discovery not only helps you develop the truth about what you are, but it also brings new dangers.Posted in 2015, rewritten in 2021: I'm adding more detail to each chapter and fixing up the format. All the chapters will be posted eventually. So far 15 out of 26 are edited and posted.
