The Daily Life of Akashi Takabi
A baby lays in the middle of a giant bed.
The personal bed of the late Viscount Akashi, the baby’s now-deceased father. It has been almost 8 months since it was last used. See, the Viscount could be considered someone rather scandalous, and his marriage was an arranged one. The viscount and his wife slept separately most of the time. The viscount rarely slept alone.
8 months ago though, Viscount Akashi left home to answer the call of the king to head to war.
A war he would never return from.
Many would never return. Even the king himself wouldn’t.
The great war for the Kingdom of Lithari, which saw it face off against a coordinated assault from all of the surrounding neighboring countries at once. The thing that saved the nation is its sheer size, being at least twice the size of the largest of the neighboring opposing nations.
Well that, and it's genius Marshal, Marquis Wyle.
Marquis Wyle had managed to fight off, and successfully counter-invade the largest of the neighboring nations with less than a fifth of their army.
He managed to make the kingdom fall. Around a quarter of the fallen kingdom was then used as a bribe to convince another nation to join the war.
This was the turning point in the war, in which the battle was won a mere 22 days ago.
But regardless, it was far too late. The baby is now fatherless.
And at the moment, his mother is in the middle of dying.
Death due to childbirth complications. Specifically, amniotic fluid embolism. That means that amniotic fluid, which is the fluid that surrounds the baby during pregnancy, somehow got into her bloodstream.
Sadly, fixing something like that is beyond the capabilities of magic and medicine that is even worse than Earth's medieval age. Healing magic may be able to close a wound extremely quickly, and clear infections with spells being created specifically to counter them, but in terms of disease and sickness, this world is rather helpless.

As such, the baby who was born a mere few hours ago is already going to be an orphan.
The first and only child of Viscount Akashi, despite the viscount having numerous mistresses. The last of the Akashi bloodline.
One of the mistresses enters the room and stares at the baby.
She begins to think.
The baby is the new head of house Akashi.
The house won’t collapse from just a few years of negligence, as the Akashi house has a decent amount of money stored away and the territory is functioning fairly well. It probably would be preferred to keep the child from becoming a ward.
But the house will have difficulty responding to any problems within that time. The main thing keeping the house afloat is that all the houses are recovering from the war at this moment, and that attacking a territory via violent means that's run by someone so young would be horrible for one’s reputation.
As such, the child needs to be raised correctly, since, by the time they turn ten, or they become a ward to another noble, they’ll qualify to be a target for other noble houses to conquer.
At that time, the child needs to at least know how to choose between good and bad decisions on a basic level, so that they don’t become a ward and be swindled out of the territory, and their life.
At that time, all the mistresses will likely be evicted.
If the child learns properly, and I’m the mother figure...
It’ll surely be the key to life in the future.
...
The baby stares at the mistress who just entered the room.
“U2FsdXRhdGlvbnMsIGhvbG9saXZlIHN0YWZmLiA=” the woman coos at the baby
It’s another world’s language. Naturally, it’s not something that can be understood so quickly.
The mistress smiles at the baby, before picking him up and cradling him.
A definite good decision, by all means.
For the baby once lived in another world.
They once lived on Earth.

Making a difference
Harry Potter FanFiction: Hannah Longbottom liked to watch the people who entered the Wizarding World via the small, walled courtyard behind the Leaky Cauldron for a reason: During her not so long life, she had learned about three different boys who had entered the Wizarding World alone, leaving behind a life so horrible she could barely imagine. One of them, who became a friend of hers, had gone through great hardships to become a hero, one of the greatest wizards the Wizarding World had ever seen. One of them, who had been her teacher, had become cold and bitter, and no one had ever recognized what amazing talents he could have offered, until it had been too late. One of them, the monster she had helped to fight during the Battle of Hogwarts, had become the most dreaded, most dangerous, and most deadly man Great Britain had ever seen, and yet it could have all been different, if someone had just tried to make that difference early enough in that life, if he had not boarded the train to Hogwarts all alone. Already posted at Devianart and AO3, I've included a link to RoyalRoad on my profiles there.

Aristocratic Avenue
Andrew had a pretty simple life plan: write LitRPG fiction, make a boatload of cash, and... well, he'd figure out what he actually wanted to do with the cash once he'd gotten it. But things haven't worked out quite as he'd hoped. After dozens of failed LitRPG serial attempts and countless thousands of words written, he's found himself pushing forty and broke, living alone in a crappy apartment. But when the platform upon which he publishes his work, Aristocratic Avenue, gains sentience, he and his fellow writers suddenly finds themselves transported to a playground of its own making, a place where there are no rules except the ones the authors have imposed upon themselves through their own writing. Spawned in pods of three, they will need to work together to figure out just what the darned heck they're supposed to be doing and how to get the goodness gracious out of there. In Andrew's pod are the bossy and enigmatic Margeaux Sinclair, crossover erotica/LitRPG author who immediately demands increasingly kinky sex from the hapless Andrew in order to level up. There's also teenager Zachary, who is rather regretting his choice to write about a world populated only by the undead. Turns out, it's kinda hard to talk when your lips are rotting off.Armed only with his skills of Deduction and Investigation and an inspirational mug he managed to bring along with him from home, Andrew is determined to answer one question:What the ever-loving blessed little heart?!---This is a blow-off-steam hobby project, and I can't tell you how often it'll update as it's dependent on my regular work. But I hope you enjoy it regardless!
